Also btw every single complaint about irish pronounciation and spelling in schools would be solved if we hammered in the slender/broad distinctions early because it would become abundantly clear why this 't' has to be surrounded by 'i's and it isn't just a thing they decided to do one day and more people would be able to spell words from just hewring them and pronounciation from just reading them send tweet

No one ever gets to make fun of “I before e except after c” ever again.
I just read a several page blog post about how and when to stick an H into Irish words and it doesn’t make any sense.
On a specific set of consonants, if you’re using a specific list of prepositions, using the word “my”, asking someone a question (yes you literally change how you spell and pronounce another persons name apparently. My name is now pronounced gella but only when you ask me a question), or using a feminine noun (did not explain the rules of that) or a feminine adjective (who the fuck is grammatically gendering adjectives) but in some of those cases if it’s a D or an T it DOESNT actually happen…
Then you stick an H after the first letter and change how you pronounce it.
…..in one specific dialect.
And it did not clarify in what tenses this applies. Is it only present tense? All of them? Some but not all?

It’s solar and wind and tidal and geothermal and hydropower.
It’s plant-based diets and regenerative livestock farming and insect protein and lab-grown meat.
It’s electric cars and reliable public transit and decreasing how far and how often we travel.
It’s growing your own vegetables and community gardens and vertical farms and supporting local producers.
It’s rewilding the countryside and greening cities.
It’s getting people active and improving disabled access.
It’s making your own clothes and buying or swapping sustainable stuff with your neighbours.
It’s the right to repair and reducing consumption in the first place.
It’s greater land rights for the commons and indigenous peoples and creating protected areas.
It’s radical, drastic change and community consensus.
It’s labour rights and less work.
It’s science and arts.
It’s theoretical academic thought and concrete practical action.
It’s signing petitions and campaigning and protesting and civil disobedience.
It’s sailboats and zeppelins.
It’s the speculative and the possible.
It’s raising living standards and curbing consumerism.
It’s global and local.
It’s me and you.
Climate solutions look different for everyone, and we all have something to offer.

Hey y'all, there's a great Instagram acct called gogreensavegreen that just released three awesome resources for getting involved in collective action!
Tumblr media
I'll include the link, they're going to be updating them and helping them grow, and they're AWESOME. Collective action is huge! Individual action is great for getting motivated, connecting with the earth, understanding resources, and growing passion, but these resources will take you further. I love just scrolling through them.
Tumblr media
If you care about this and don't really know where to start THIS is for you. If you feel hopeless about our situation THIS is for you. If you find it hard to find like minded people THIS is for you!
Please boost and spread the word about this. We need as many people taking action as possible, and maybe this will help someone out there find their niche, their calling, their hobby, their action!

The amount of leftists who can't tell the difference between
"You should recycle, but it's not going to stop impeding climate doom"
and
"You shouldn't recycle because it's not your fault the planet is imploding"
is baffling. Like, you're allowed to be mad about greenwashing while still trying to live as sustainably as possible. Buying glassware instead of plasticware isn't gonna stop the planet from falling apart, but it's certainly better than saying "ah fuck it" and supporting the production and landfilling of plastic waste. Even if it's just by a tiny, individual's amount, it's still better than doing nothing. This "all or nothing" mentality that these people claim is tearing apart American politics is quite literally at the heart of their entire belief system.

Fuck self-sufficiency. It's time for Interdependence. Always offer help and always accept it. Cook meals for the people you love. Grow fruits and vegetables and give them to your neighbors. The "independent" person is merely the perfect version of a Consumer, eating directly from the palms of Corporation. Fuck self-sufficiency. Need one another.
