Thinkin about the first time luke tries water from other planets - on tatooine drinking water had this metallic taste and smelled like dust and purification chemicals, and contained bits of grit and sand - so the first time he tries clean, purified water™️ on rebel base, he's like, why does this taste like nothing?

Han's all like ...? It's water? And Luke, suddenly embarassed, shrugs and says that water on tatooine had this weird aftertaste, and sometimes a texture, and this water tastes like absolutely nothing and it's so weird bc if you can't taste the purification chemicals can you even be *sure* that the water is safe to drink?

Han goes silent for a bit and then ushers Luke to a medic to get him checked out for parasites.

But this Luke-is-weirded-out-by-water trend continues and Luke makes it his mission to catalogue the water taste in every planet he comes across - (not me projecting going down weird rabbit holes onto luke)

On hoth leia had to shout at Luke to stop shoveling snow into your mouth

Luke has a full water purification kit now, and tried and succeeded in checking out the dagobah swamp water (turns out yoda had his own more extensive water purification mechanism, but yoda, being yoda, just sat back and watched while Luke decided to never drink swamp water again)

When Vader gets to him, and Luke has to drink Imperial water now (yuck), he sighes mournfully and says that nothing can top Rebel water and this water is too metallic.

Vader has completely forgotten about what water tastes like so he just opts to agree with luke bc he does vaguely remember having a similar experience as Anakin, so this must be an universal experience, right? Thus you have the father-son duo, on the executor's deck, having an incomprehensible conversation about water. Most adjutants and lieutenants think they're speaking codewords
