Homemade Cocoa Puffs (Sourdough Discard Version)
We all know about how common, well-known cereals that are marketed towards children can be full of sugar and toxic preservatives. The preservatives are known to cause health issues such as IBS and Gluten intolerance, or worst Celiac disease. Perhaps you and your family are struggling with…

The thing going through my mind as I create Irish Frost Drinkware is simply my love for autumn, and the sound of leaves crunching and rustling under my feet. I think of the cold weather and hot drinks, hot cocoa, Mulled apple cider, or chai spiced teas. I love knowing that we can make these drinks medicinal or as fun as we want. I tend to lean more towards herbal medicinal drinks these days and occasionally will add a bit of sweetness. Especially at this time of the year when it's that need for earth and comfort food.
We do not always work like we used to according to the seasons anymore. We work well into the darkness, or wake to the darkness in the winter. We need more light but at this time the light grows less and less. It is a sad fact of life and nature. I strongly dislike how we have a fall back in an hour on our concept of time. I fully agree with the way a Native American child said it’s like cutting…

Indian Masala Chai Tea

Masala is an Ayurvedic/Indian spice mixture used in this type of recipe.  I first discovered Chai tea as a teen in the Asian/ethnic…

This morning as I was waking up, I saw a word Allasquatch (someone's Bigfoot account name) and it triggered memories of me going on a trip on the Allagash River in Maine when I was a teenager. I was about 16 at the time and there was a particular night that we were camping out at a campground. We had eaten and gone to bed. We slept in tents and possibly some slept outside tents, but I am unsure of that. The reason I mention it is because one of my fellow trekkers/campers had gotten up on the night to go use the outhouse. He said he saw me sleeping on top of the picnic table. The entire night I didn't get up to go use the outhouse and never left my tent. Yet he saw me asleep on the picnic table. I remember how confused and baffled I was at what he saw. Now in my older years(I'm 40 now) I'm looking back with new eyes and new perspective. Did he see a ghost, a loop? Or was I Astral projecting? As a Christian at the time, I knew nothing on how to do that. It's very interesting to think about now!And the realization that the Allagash is major Bigfoot territory, wowww it blows my mind. Unfortunately I never saw Bigfoot back then!

Corn and wood ash, resulting in nixtamalization
Happy belated Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Did you know that Native people didn’t traditionally eat sweet corn? (except for a small amount during ceremony time) Instead, corn was left on the corn stalk to mature fully where it would be harvested and then dried. This type of corn would then be treated in an alkaline solution in a process called nixtamalization. By making a slurry with wood ashes and…
