CNC originally meant for a sub to consent to things they would not consent to at the discretion of a dom. It was for seasons where the sub's hard-limits did not matter, only the doms. It could be done with or without safewords. Which is why the practice is so controversial and why it is called consensual non-consent in the first place. It didn’t stick with the term because, and I cannot express this enough, that is just sexual abuse. There’s no reason to call it anything else. At a certain point if a term is being used almost exclusively to refer to something else, the origin of the term is irrelevant.

The word gay used to mean jovial or gaudy and flamboyant, now it means queer or homosexual. Hell, queer used to just mean odd, but if you say gay or queer it’s going to be assumed you aren’t using the original definitions.

Like I said in the other ask, the definition you’re attributing to CNC is some 50 Shades nonsense that no one actually does. If you went into a kink space and said “yeah I purposely ignore my sub’s real hard-limits and made them give me permission to do it so it’s totally fine” someone might get their puppy boy to bite and maul them like a rabid animal because you’re admitting to real sexual abuse and rape.

There’s plenty of real kink blogs on this site. Go take a browse and see how many of the CNC ones think any of what you’re referring to is acceptable. R.I.P. to all five people who used the term that way originally I guess, but at this point it’s synonymous with rape-play and used in lieu of that term to avoid implying real sexual abuse is erotic.

I’ve been in kink spaces for longer than some of my followers have been alive and I have never heard anyone use it to mean a dom gets to force a sub into a scene that is legitimately a hard-limit for them with the absence of any means for the sun to retract consent to that.

Because rape isn’t kink, and that definition falls squarely into the former category.

I did google it. Generic unsourced websites tell me it's kink with a safeword, wikipedia tells me it's kink without a safeword, some websites imply it encompasses both with no safeword kink being the "harder" form, and in casual use I've heard all three with the second and third being most common.

I think people use CNC to mean any one of the three without clarification because they're unaware the other two exist, which makes things infinitely more confusing when discussing whether or not it's safe.

Oh my god CNC just means sexual roleplay where one partner pretends to not want it but all parties involved have safe words and open communication to ensure everyone is safe and enjoying themselves I cannot believe I have to break down the meaning of a kink that literally is an acronym of what it amounts to.

Are you confusing it with the concept of having a fake safeword to use in a scene to make it feel more realistic? Some people do that on occasion but having a fake safeword doesn’t mean you don’t have a real one.

At this point how about you actually talk to people who have and practice this kink in healthy ways to hear their perspective on it.

Here’s my hot take, if you’re having sex you should have a safe word and talk to your partner before and after to be on the same page. Lacking a safe word is an irresponsible exploration of kink issue, not a cnc or even bdsm specific issue. There is no correlation to cnc and lacking a safe word because the idea that fetish amounts to just having someone sign a contract saying their partner can do whatever to them just sounds like 50 Shades, not what actual people do.

The CNC ask isn't bait, and I know it wasn't the point of the post. You've mentioned it before in a sort of passively supporting way, which I don't get because sex without a safeword seems really unsafe, and wanted to know why you supported it. Maybe I'm wrong, genuinely, BDSM isn't my area.

(Also, I saw someone reply about how it's CONSENSUAL non-consent, I know that, if it wasn't consensual it would just be rape and therefore immoral. My concern is unintentional harm when there's no safeword to end the scenario, not intentional crossing of boundaries.)

Mississippi kites are roughly the size of a pigeon and nest in large colonies. Anyone or anything too close to a nest colony is going to get more than a few punches from these guys. Scares quite a few people every year.
