on the one hand, extremely funny to get told “get help” by a fortune cookie, on the other, i can’t believe betterhelp has breached influencers and podcasters and started getting fortune cookies to shill for them

Friendly reminder that asking your lycan partner to turn you is incredibly insensitive! Seriously can we retire this trope already? Not only is it just offensive, but no one would ever actually choose this life! Lycanthropy is a curse. Full stop.
🐾 superhowllock69 Follow
Ok user "moon-moon" as if that original meme wasn't created to mock pack nomenclature 🙄
Anyway I'm not gonna touch that internalized lycanphobia with a ten foot pole. Being turned by your partner is something that can be incredibly intimate as long as both parties are consenting and the one being turned is 100% sure they want it. Literally the only downside to transforming once a month is the pain, but midol works just fine. No one with these "lycanthropy bad" takes ever wants to discuss the legitimate positives that come with this "curse" lmao.
🐺 moon-moon4w00 Follow
I'm literally reclaiming moon moon but go off I guess. Anyways turning your partner is absolutely disgusting and morally reprehensible and anyone who does it should be muzzled permanently.
🌜 impawssible Follow
lmao my wife literally saved my life when she turned me but i guess she should be muzzled huh? we run through the woods hunting deer together and can each haul in groceries in one trip now, but nooo she's obviously a danger to society because she cares enough about me to help me when insurance wouldn't cover my medicine
also it was confirmed that the creator of that meme literally makes and sells silver bullets so if you still wanna use moon moon for yourself that certainly is a choice. source: (X)

I love that instead of naming the more common benefits of lycanthropy, you mentioned that you and your wife can carry all the groceries in one trip. I think that's definitely a positive that gets overlooked far too often and I commend you for speaking your truth, sir

wasn't OP the same guy who said fursuits were offensive to lycanthropes and doxxed a werewolf fursuiter?
🐺 moon-moon4w00 Follow
They ARE offensive and harmful to this community and I'm tired of pretending they're not. They perpetuate harmful depictions of what a humanoid wolf is actually like.

hey! i'm really sorry if you've already talked about this but i was wondering if you know if the jewish annotated new testament was good or if it falls into the messianic jew type stuff? one of the priests at my church recommended it to me, and while i generally trust him (he's of jewish descent and gave a really good sermon during lent about the Jesus in the Temple incident and how to interpret it in a way that isn't antisemitic) i thought a second opinion would also be good!
Hi there! I’ve talked briefly about the JANT previously, but I know digging through years of this blog is something of an undertaking, so no worries.
The JANT is the work of two Jewish (actually Jewish, not messianic Christian) scholars and I think it’s a very decent one. I own it myself, for what it’s worth. I hope you find it interesting!

asking as someone from outside the anglosphere, why is new york so connected to jewish people that gorge santos can say hes jew-ish for being from there... like i know hes pulling that out of his ass but why is that something you would come up with. is jewish culture that ingrained in there
Hi there, friend!
So, yeah, George Santos absolutely pulled that out of his ass like he does with…nearly everything he says, honestly.
But you’re right, New York City (and specifically Brooklyn, within that geographic demarcation) is very much associated with the American Jewish population. There’s a few reasons for that:
1) During some of the largest waves of Ashkenazi Jewish immigration to the United States, the port of entry was Ellis Island in New York/New Jersey (long and involved fight between the states, whole other story) and so the city those new immigrants first entered was New York City.
Jewish immigrants at the time largely being dirt poor and having skills that lended themselves to factory and mercantile work, they didn’t generally go far (geographically) and created Jewish communities in New York itself. (Italian immigrants and Irish immigrants around that same time also followed this pattern.)
2) New York City has the highest percentage of Jewish residents of any American city, between 7-8% depending on which poll and year we are looking at, and that number jumps even higher in Brooklyn where it’s around (last I checked) 20%.
To give that something to measure against for comparison, New York City has more Jewish residents than Tel Aviv and Jerusalem combined. Indeed, it has more Jews than the next three cities, ranked by Jewish population (Jerusalem, Los Angeles, Tel Aviv) combined.
3) There are aspects of Ashkenazi Jewish culture that, as a result of those first two things, are embedded in New York City culture: Yinglish (a mixture of Yiddish and English, like usage of: schmuck, schlep, shvitz, tchotchke, etc.), bagels (New Yorkers have this whole thing with bagels, they will absolutely fight with you if you say real or good bagels come from anywhere else), Jewish-style delis, etc.
4) Because of those first two things, a lot of Hasidic and Haredi Jews (what many folks call “Ultra Orthodox” though they themselves do not use such a term) are largely centered in and around NYC. Jews are much more visible in NYC as a result. (Yiddish, a Jewish language, is also more common in NYC as a result, as some of those communities speak it as a first language.)
Now, obviously, none of those things make gentiles from NYC Jewish at all, but they do mean that NYC has more cultural influences from certain types of Ashkenazi Judaism than any other place in America, to be sure.
