“ … tamper? “ the accusation took them by surprise. was it possible to doom an entire timeline through their mere presence alone? purl wasn’t even entirely sure what he meant by that in the first place- though it obviously didn’t sound very good. they were reluctant to ask him to clarify, though; somehow they had the feeling this sans was far less likely to answer their question in a friendly manner, and the less mad they got him, the better.
“ i… i wasn’t going to mess with anything. i just wanted to pass through. a-and other people go into different timelines all the time, and they seem to be okay! “ as soon as the words left their mouth, however, they shut it rather quickly, turning their head away on reflex. shoot, frisk. remember where you are- this isn’t the sans you know. try to be a little more careful about what you say.
they dared to peek at the skeleton again, brow furrowing. he couldn’t… still be looking around for anyone else, could he? was there another reason, perhaps? certainly his… weird glowy skeleton-pupil looked a little different from what they were accustomed to seeing on most sanses. “ i guess… humans just tend to get really scared of whatever they see as different. even here… “
Tumblr media
                    “ s-still, that-! that doesn’t mean this can’t become a good one. “
Tumblr media
Again, you found yourself wincing at the child’s words. They were allowed to traverse to other universes and timelines, but didn’t know something as simple as the butterfly effect? Where was their Sans to tell them this shit? Why did you have to babysit some brat that didn’t know their place? (When did you become so cynical around kids?)
Tumblr media
“Yes, tamper. You just being here could cause some sort of mishap. Someone could see the footprints you made by walking here and assume the worst, that humans have come to invade the town. Monsters could prepare for an attack and start a preemptive battle. That’d cause the death of hundreds, all because you are just standing here.”
Harsh, Sans. Reel it in, dude. Calm down... There was just grass here anyway-- no dirt to leave footprints in. Not that you could see that. You sighed.
“Just... an example. I doubt it’ll happen, so... don’t, uh... don’t worry. You just have to keep shi--- uh, stuff like that in mind. We’re all really scared. It’s not just the humans, you know?” It was their fault this was a war to begin with, but you’ve spilled enough salt on the child, haven’t you? “I appreciate your optimism, though. Guess you Frisks don’t change in that regardless of timelines.”

The aura that pervaded Wendy was unnaturally filled with a sense of dread, coupled by an icy air that could cut to the bone. Upon hearing them although well aware of their presence, she would turn to them as her fluffy locks swayed a little from the motion. Staring at them plainly, Wendy was more or less used to humanoid, yet inhuman creatures such as Pigmen and Bunnymen. Though… the tone she showed toward them, along with being more or less coherent was something new. Doing a polite curtsy for the other, “Hello… Miss. My name is Wendy, but I am merely sharpening my hatchet. But little bat? My species is clearly not something such as that, Miss. Though I do stalk the night.” And lo and behold, a whet stone and a rather wicked looking cleaver was resting on a stump behind the gloomy, yet adorable girl.
Tumblr media
Sharpening a hatchet? You took a small tilt of your head to look behind her, a curious purr rising from her throat. What a curious weapon of choice. Most of the kids weren’t allowed to have anything more than wooden or fencing swords. Not that you were complaining. They should have something a little better to defend themselves.
Tumblr media
“I’m well aware, but it’s a fitting nickname, I think. Does it bother you? I can stop.” You flashed your fangs in a smile. “I’m Catty. It’s nice to meet you, Wendy. You don’t have to be out here all alone, you know. There’s a nice place for lost kids like you to hang out with cool cats like me.”

He softly smiled at the child but noticed their look. It looks like they don’t know where he is. Are they perhaps blind?
“ah, no need to call me ‘sir’, sweetheart. just ‘pup’ is fine for me.” he smiled as he rubs the back of his head for a little bit.
“are you out here all alone or did someone leave you for a while?”
Tumblr media
There’s a little shrug after a moment and a small tug on AD’s leash to make sure he was still even at the end of it. Of course, he had to be, but sometimes you wondered with this silly dog. He was strange.
Tumblr media
“Um, no, I was just going for a walk. I don’t usually go so far away, but...” This place even felt a little different. “Where exactly am I?”

Seluna pouted at their reaction; nothing annoyed her more than people not believing her, albeit she understood that maybe it all sounded a bit too unrealistic. That’s when an idea crossed her mind.
Tumblr media
“Would you like to see my shop?”
She lifted her left hand and pressed a button on her wristwatch, which immediately started glowing. “It’ll be quick. Hopefully I won’t be accused of kidnapping royalty.”
Tumblr media
It was hard for Chara to believe without seeing. Then again, wouldn’t you after being fed lies for so long? But they still seemed excited about the concept regardless. Another universe, huh? Sounded kind of cool. You knew different timelines were a thing (hence the resets and saves and stuff!), but universes, too? You wondered what that’d be like.
Was there an actual Star Wars universe out there, you wondered? You hoped so. You wanted to go there.
Tumblr media
“Seriously?! That’d be hecka rad!” You bounced a little from excitement. “Hey, don’t worry about it. If y’do, I’ll bail y’out no problem! Mrs. Mom is usually pretty good about listening to me.”

they slumped when the skeleton’s magic finally released them, sucking in lungfuls of air as if they had been holding their breath. calm down frisk, the child thought sternly to themself, trying desperately to piece together their shattered composure. it’s just sans- just a sans, but still sans. he… he wouldn’t hurt you. you’re fine. you probably just startled him… or something. despite their best efforts, they really didn’t feel all that convinced. though if they ever doubted what they had been told about most sanses secretly being stronger than they let on… purl definitely felt like a believer now.
it was a few moments before they dared to look up- but slowly, as if they feared making any sudden movements would spur him into attacking once again. the monster wasn’t looking at them, something purl couldn’t help but find strange. was he… searching for something else, maybe? or was there another reason the child hadn’t yet thought of?
“ i didn’t… i didn’t mean to come here on purpose or anything. “ they stammered, too nervous to risk getting up. “ it was an accident; sometimes i end up in places i don’t mean to go. and once i get there i… can’t just leave. it’s not how it works for me- the traveling and stuff. “
Tumblr media
“ … i thought this was a good timeline. “ purl continued hesitantly. “ because everything was on the surface? “ somehow they were beginning to get the feeling that wasn’t the case.
Tumblr media
Their explanation, their defense, wasn’t really noted by you. You tried to keep your smile, but it was far too worn to be considered as much anymore. You ddin’t wear that mask so much anymore, did you? There wasn’t a point, was there?
“Even if it were, do you think your belonging would be any more prevalent? Do you think it’s okay to tamper with a timeline that’s not yours? That’s how you doom them, kid.”
A little harsh, all things considered. Your timeline was doomed from the start, despite your efforts. Wasn’t that just the funniest punchline? It was you! You were the punchline! Because you’re a joke. Your eye darkened, the gold hue only just breaking through the unnatural black of your eye sockets. Despite this, you stayed staring at... nothing interesting? Trees, maybe? Some grass? Maybe that moss covered rock?
Tumblr media
“That being said, I wouldn’t really classify this timeline as ‘good’ nor ‘bad’. It’s just as well off as most others are, I’ve noticed. And I have to say, it’s nice to not know what it was like to know what it’s like to live under the ground.” You shrugged. “War is always inevitable. No matter the timeline.”

Seluna quirked a brow as the kid mentioned being part of the royal family, looking confused. She did hear about the Dreemurr since she stepped in that realm, but she thought that it was a family of monsters like everyone else she’d met. How could a human child being part of the royal family? Was he adopted? That was enough to rouse her curiosity as well, so she crouched down to meet her kid’s height.
“Nice to meet you, Chara!”
Tumblr media
“Forgive me for not knowing who you are, I come from far, far away.“ She covered her hand with a hand, as if she was about to whisper a secret to the child. “I am a lycanthrope and I come from another dimension. I arrived here with a magical portal and I own a herbalist shop specialized in magical plants.” She paused, chuckling. “Oh, I almost forgot! I am Seluna, at your service.”
Tumblr media
You vaguely rolled your eyes when she knelt down to meet you. It was a little unnecessary, or so you thought. Did she think she was being respectful. It just made her look silly.
Tumblr media
“You’re a what from where?” you snorted. “Seluna, it is, though are you sure you haven’t watched a few too many scifi movies? I mean, I don’t blame you, they’re cool, but still.”
This clearly wasn’t a topic the child could wrap their head around. Even less so than the possibility of Monster nomads during the hellish destruction of this war, which simply didn’t exist. Not in this devastation. Part of you even thought maybe she was mocking you for claiming to be an heir to the throne.

That… That definetly wasn’t the most positive or reasurring thing that he heard when it came to accidentally landing in unknown timelines for him but he assumed it had to do the work because he was at the verge of panic and anything could easily act as a trigger to send him off.
Tumblr media
❝ I guess you can be right there… So far I’ve ended in empty timelines or nice ones with understanding monsters—Like you!❞ Might as well give a small smile in return, right?
However, the given information only brought more questions for him yet he didn’t want to come as bothersome and kept them for himself. Most of the time, Blue chose not to ask to his alternatives about their timelines—Thinking that, perhaps, that way he was being thoughtful.
The skeleton was fully aware that peaceful timelines were quite rare to stumble with, there were hundreds of timelines that scared him because the monsters themselves seemed to be tired, exhausted of the life they had and struggled to carry on.
Blue admired each one of those, to be brave and move on. Not because they wanted to, but because they had to.
Cyan eyelights focused on the dog, it made him remember about his own dog. Could he truly call it his if the dog itself did whatever it wanted and dropped whenever it wanted? ❝ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙᴜᴅᴅʏ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ʜᴇʀᴇ ʀᴇᴍɪɴᴅs ᴍᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴍɪɴᴇ!❞
Tumblr media
You gave a small wince when he mentioned your timeline. Your smile didn’t falter, but you definitely didn’t look too thrilled, regardless.
“Nice is... relative on who you ask.”
It was for the best he didn’t ask. While you didn’t mind talking about your timeline, describing assets of the War was always a bit of a downer. Not that you had it too terribly. In fact, for a timeline riddled with death and destruction, you seem to have had it a lot better than a good majority of your alternates. Even if you couldn’t see it. Or anything, for that matter.
Your own eye light (only the one, bright yellow one) didn’t seem to focus on anywhere in particular. It “stared” straight ahead, but didn’t exactly seemed focused on anything, even while you talked to your alternate. Though it did brighten with mirth when he brought up your dog.
Tumblr media
“Ah, yeah? M’not surprised he’s in other timelines. AD’s way smarter than your average dog,” you laughed, giving a little shake on his leash. “I was actually taking him out for a walk. He doesn’t like leaving the city alone. Can’t say I blame him.”

You loved kids.
There wasn’t a lot that you had feelings for. You lacked normal empathy for people, and most material things didn’t do it for you. But kids? They were so creative. They weren’t confined by social norms or disgusting stereotypes-- they thought outside the box and ran wild with ideas and thoughts and...
Well, you got the gist of it.
So, of course, upon meeting a new child, human, monster or otherwise, you didn’t hold any bias against them, and merely treated them as kindly as you could.

this was… a surface timeline? how wonderful!
admittedly, purl hadn’t intended to go there; crossing timelines was still something they were trying to get used to. sometimes they ended up in the wrong place- a fact that they had conveniently chosen not to mention to anyone after the backlash they got from admitting to jumping from timeline to timeline at random. it wasn’t intentional! and they were sure they would be able to figure out how to smoothly go from point a to point b eventually. but in the meantime, at least they were fortunate enough to discover such interesting places.
they needed to find or gather the determination to create a save point in order to leave, however- a slight inconvenience that came with their unique method of traversing the multiverse. purl didn’t really see it as too much of a problem, however; surface timelines had a tendency to lift their spirits rather quickly, the knowledge that another version of monsterkind was free setting their soul at ease.
that being said… something seemed a little strange about this timeline, didn’t it? unfortunately, the child didn’t have much time to ponder what, exactly, seemed so odd about it.
purl didn’t have the chance to shout before they were suddenly slammed onto the ground, vision swimming with stars. was that… was that blue magic? they were only used to being on the receiving end of it from papyrus, and he never wielded it so fiercely. the child groaned quietly, blinking a few times to clear away the darkness, only to be met with the sight of what very well could have been their own demise.
Tumblr media
“ a… ah… “ purl’s gaze drifted from the sharpened bone to the skeleton wielding it, but try as they might their throat felt tight, mouth unable to form words. in the corner of their vision they could see chara, hissing curses and utterly helpless to intervene. they were accustomed to dying- didn’t really have much to fear from it at that point. it was the idea of dying in another timeline that set the child on edge- what would happen to them? they hadn’t made a save yet, would they wake up at their last one? or would they never wake up at all, essentially erased from existence?
                    “ s-sans… you’re scaring me… “
Tumblr media
You could almost feel their panic from being threatened like so. That was to be expected, though, wasn’t it? If this were anyone else, hesitating would have been the death of you. You were lucky something stopped you. Maybe it was just the hunch that they weren’t a bad human.
Or maybe it was the whole aspect of killing someone to begin with?
You kept Purl pinned as your yellow eye flicked around in front of you, looking for any other abnormalities. You were almost expecting another Sans, if you were being honest. You weren’t sure how this kid got here by themselves otherwise. Other timelines were sure a trip, weren’t they? But it seemed they were alone. How that was possible was beyond you, but it was for the best. Besides, they---
“ s-sans… you’re scaring me… “
The yellow light in your eye flickered for a moment, like somoene playing with the flame of a candle. You didn’t even realize that you were still dangerously close to piercing their now-blue soul. Helps that you still couldn’t quite see what you were doing. You reacted your hand, letting the bone dissipate and returning the little heart back to its original color.
Tumblr media
“Ah. Sorry, guess I’ve made my point.”
You laughed, but there wasn’t much feeling behind it. You weren’t looking at Purl now, but rather, straight in front of you.
“You really shouldn’t be here, kid. Ain’t safe to be where you don’t belong.”

❝Um… yes?❞
The army? Was Ceru in the army? He wasn’t exactly in the Royal guard… yet. Was that supposed to count? He was a sentry, after all, and that was just as important. He was trusted with looking out for any humans which fall underground! Which… didn’t really matter anymore. At least, he didn’t think it did.
But gosh, this universe sounded more interesting than he originally thought. And considerably more dangerous. He wondered where his alternate was. He considered asking the human, but asking lots of questions may seem a little strange.
Tumblr media
❝My name is Ceru.❞ Stick with the nickname, make it less confusing for everyone.  ❝And, uh. Faction? What are the factions? Are you in one of them?❞
Tumblr media
You didn’t seem to pick up on the strange skeleton’s confusion. For the best, really. It would’ve just sparked a whole new string of questions that undoubtedly would have overwhelmed him. You were a curious sort, and that very same curiosity was liable to “kill a cat”. Or however that saying went.
Tumblr media
“Pfft. No. I wish! I’m still too young to join, though, and Mr. Dad and Mrs. Mom don’t want me t’be a part of it, anyway.”
You take a small bow of your head, then hold out your hand for a good handshake.
“I’m Chara. Chara Dreemurr. It’s nice t’meetcha, Ceru. You must be some kind of Monster nomad if y’don’t know what’s goin’ on around here? That’s weird. I didn’t think those existed. Isn’t it too dangerous t’travel with the humans ruinin’ everything?”
You sounded bitter about that, but quickly revert back to a more chipper tone.
“There are three factions. The Royal Guards, who stay back in the city and defend the people and the walls t’prevent ambush or anyone comin’ into the city who don’t belong here. The Noble Mercenaries, who patrol the Ebott Forest and Mountain and... Well, I don’t know what they do? They’re pretty secretive. But, finally, there’s the Battle Brigade, who’re the “meat” of the Army. They’re the ones that’re out on the battlefields t’fight in the War.”

Morning was not your forte. The sun was abysmal, there were too many people, and it was just full of disappointment. Taking cat naps throughout was way better, or at the very least staying inside.
The night, though? You loved it. The moon was never too bright, and sometimes gone completely, and the stars were gorgeous, and those few souls who were still lingering outside were so few and far between that they could gladly avoid the heck out of you. Understandably. You’re pretty sure everyone’s so used to red and black at this point that seeing bright pastels was going to burn holes in their skulls.
They fucking deserved it, didn’t they, though?
Eventually reaching the outskirts of town to contemplate what havoc you could reek today, you held a cigarette between your fingers and stared out at what was now the very scarce gap between this hellhole city and the lush beginnings of Ebott forest and--
Hey, wait up. There just happens to be a person out there?
Hey, wait, that’s no person! It’s a skeleton! Just what did that numbskull think he was doing? You flicked your tail before carefully approaching.
Something was... off?
Tumblr media
“Well, well, if it isn’t Sans in the lack of flesh wearing something other than red? Really, if you’re trying to impurress me you’re going to have to do a little better than that.”
You only half-teased.
      “What’s you doin’ out here?”

// UnderFell War AU Catty! In progress. Will update later. I’m just excited to finally have her d o n e !!!!!
Alias(es): Catty, Mom, Felis
Height: 5'3"
Alignment: Chaotic Good
LV: 1
Age: 60
Catty is the EPITOME of pastel goth aesthetic.
Her and Bratty run the “orphanage”, as per the Queen’s request, and despite their “different” appearance, and flat tones, and anti-conformism, they’re probably the two sweetest Monsters in the community. Catty scoffs at violent behavior, and encourages creativity and expression from the kids, telling them that breaking the rules and being socially abnormal is the greatest accomplishment.
Catty acts apathetic and distant towards most people, excluding the kids and her best friend, Bratty, but in actuality she cares about everything just a little too much. She has a horrible habit of cursing, but refrains from doing so in front of kids, catching herself last second (i.e. “fuu....udge” “shh....sugar”).

People insisted that you stayed home. There was no reason for you to be patrolling anymore. Undyne could handle the job just fine. They worried about you. After all, it couldn’t have been safe to travel out in dangerous territory without being able to see.
Honestly, they should’ve been more worried about how needlessly unstable your lack of eyesight had made you. But you liked to ignore and hide that fact. You liked to pretend that wasn’t the case. That you were fine.
You weren’t.
And this was evident almost immediately when you heard someone wandering not too far out from the city, on a path you often took for your patrols. Your yellow eye flicked around, and the usual code for trees flickered in front of you, until, finally, an anomaly in the mix.
.characterB {        character-pacing: slow;        size: 134.62cm;        margin-front: 365cm;        species: human;
You didn’t need to skim through the rest. That, alone, was poor Purl’s sentence. Not even a word was said as you reached a hand out to put a nice blue coat on the child’s soul, ripping your hand downward to tug Purl down with it, against the ground.
Within a moment’s notice, you appeared next to them (the short-cut was probably unnecessary, Sans, they were pinned), with a new summoned bone, dangerously filed to a point. You had moved your hand carefully, trying to gauge the distance between their soul and your... weapon of choice, keeping them close enough to ensure one good jab would be the end of this encounter.
Tumblr media
      “Don’t move.”
Despite your hostility, your voice was surprisingly calm. Maybe it was just habit. Or maybe you were too tired to sound like... a Monster? Your eye continued to scan them.

Being constantly out and about, one gets a little dirty. Or a lot dirty. And being as lazy as you are, cleaning up wasn’t exactly your top priority. Your coat was falling apart at the seams, and you somehow managed to get even your bones smudged with dirt. Come on, Sans. Have some tact.
Regardless, this just meant when you were home or... even travelling other universes, it made it rather hard to show up at places you needed to look presentable. What, you could wear jogging pants around and that’s fine, but god forbid you have a little dried mud on you? Some people...

uniiversedrifters:
Finding a surface timeline wasn’t much of a new feat for Ceru anymore. It was the same old kind of pacifist timeline that reminded him of what his own universe hadn’t achieved yet. He still enjoyed telling Papyrus about them - they seemed to make him pretty happy.
But this. This was different.
More specifically, it seemed like humans and monsters had been on the surface together for a long time. Had the war ended yet? Where was the underground? He wondered whether it was very dangerous outside of this city. Was he going to try to find out? Probably not.
His own thoughts were cut off when the human spoke to him. Guess he hadn’t seen them coming.
❝I know. I always wear this! This is my battle body.❞
Ceru seemed just as perplexed by this human as they were by him. He recognised them from his own universe - except they were different.
Other timelines were weird.
Tumblr media
Perplexed hadn’t even begun to describe it. You hadn’t had too much encounters with other universes quite yet, and it was still very hard to wrap your head around. It... left you with a lot of questions. More than probably necessary. Truly you had the heart of an explorer, wanting to know answers to everything.
Tumblr media
“Battle body?” You repeated. “Like... a suit of armor? S’at mean you’re with the army?”
You hadn’t heard of the skelebros having another brother. Or even talked about one. How strange. Were there other skeleton Monsters you just weren’t aware of? Was that an inconsiderate thing to ask?
Probably.
      “What’s y’name? What faction are y’with?”
