as someone who's been here since 2018, it's so cool to see a fandom develop over the years like wtf.....

i love how a majority of the fandom is a bunch of nerds who were forced to read this book for english (including me, and i dont regret it) and a new wave of people enter the fandom every year

something i love about the book is how much it leaves the reader to speculate. for some characters and for most of the plot, it draws a blank slate (for ex. some characters barely have a personality, the book ends abruptly). this is like creativity fuel for people who love making headcanons and alternate universes (THE BOARDING SCHOOL AU >>>>>) and i think thats exactly what a fandom needs lmao

I’m reading lord of the flies for English class, and let me just tell you:

REASONS WHY I THINK SIMON IS 1000% REALLY FUCKING GAY:

1) My gaydar has been going off since we first met him

2) His name is Simon (Love, Simon come on people)

3) On multiple occasions other boys on the island have called him queer, which I know can mean weird but they haven’t called Piggy (the one they find the weirdest) queer

4) HE WALKED INTO A TREE STARING AT A BOY WHO TOOK HIS SHIRT OFF IN CHAPTER ON AND IM NOT SURE EVER PUT IT BACK ON

5) The person he was based on’s last name was gay

6) He’s also been referred to as gay (which I know can mean happy, but again, none of the other boys, not even the littluns, were referred to as such)

7) HE WALKED INTO A TREE STARING AT A SHIRTLESS BOY FOR GOD’S SAKE WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED

8) HE SLAMMED INTO IT SO HARD HIS NOSE STARTED BLEEDING
