saying F U to the regime again and again: a quick update on women vs IR regime
Famous Iranian actresses have been appearing in public without a mandatory hijab. This has been happening since the beginning of the protests. Last month, Kiumars Pourahmad, a well known Iranian screenwriter and director, committed suicide. He had a history of criticizing the regime's political decisions. At his funeral, some of the famous actresses attended without mandatory hijab.
Tumblr media
You can see Fateme Motamedarya, Katayoun Riyahi, and Golab Adineh in these pictures from the funeral. Ms. Riyahi was one of the first celebrities who took her hijab off at the start of the Jina (Mahsa) Amini protest and for that she's been the target of IRGC harassment and has been to court.
Last week, in the ceremony of screening of the final episode of Lion's Skin (a persian crime show), actress Pantea Bahram participated without hijab. The manager of Tehran’s Lotus Cinema, where the ceremony was held, was fired for letting her attend without hijab.
Tumblr media
Other than prosecution, the regime has blocked these celebrities' bank accounts. Basij and IRGC members have also attacked and harassed these women online and in real life.
Students on university campuses take off their hijabs. There's an installed version of morality police in universities that monitor students' styles. Female students must wear "appropriate" hijab and male students must wear "manly" clothes (one of my guy friends once was asked to go back home and change his shoes because they were red casual loafers. Apparently that's gay!). When you enroll in Iranian universities, the first thing you do is to go to the security office and sign an agreement that says you promise to follow the Islamic dress code. There are posters all over the campus that says things like "hijab is security" "respect the islamic hijab" and "not wearing appropriate hijab (tight short clothes, too much hair, makeup, etc) would result in legal action". So not wearing hijab on campus, where a lot of security cameras are installed and it's easy to identify you, is a big deal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The regime's response to students taking off their hijabs is sending threatening messages to students' phones and increasing the security people. At the entrance of Universities, these security forces check people's clothes and if it's not proper they won't let you in. Some of the students wear the hijab at the entrance and take it off after they're in. They have warned our professors to not let non hijabi students sit in classes too.
One of my favorite trends in Iran now is when guys wear our hijab. These pictures are from universities. Guys wearing hijab make the security mad. This is a great act of solidarity with women against the obligatory hijab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some men have been doing either this or wearing shorts in public. The former is to ridicule the obligatory dress code and the latter is because wearing shorts in public is forbidden for guys too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And women not wearing hijab in general. Though hijab is not our only issue, we want a whole new political system, one that is not theocratic or terroristic, hijab is something the regime won't back down from because it's one of their strongest oppressing tools. If they let us win the fight against obligatory hijab, I quote from a regime head, "people keep demanding more changes"!
So to put people against people to enforce the hijab law again, the regime has closed down many businesses (hotels, cafes, malls, bookstores, etc) for welcoming non hijabi female costumers. They have also warned taxi and bus drivers to not let non hijabi women in their vehicles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although not everyone is disobeying the hijab law (some believe in hijab, some don't want to pay the price), the number of women who take the risk and don't wear hijab in Tehran and many other cities is high enough that you feel encouraged to keep doing it.

just got hit with the fact the internet literally groomed me as a child to be hypersexual
I was just reblogging some cute anime stuff on here and I was like fuck man I was watching anime with actual fucking incest in it at the age of 11 and it wasn’t marketed as a discussion of the violent sexual abuse that sibling incest is, it was literally an ecchi anime showing incest as a joke or incest as sexually attractive or titillating to the viewer
Like fuck no wonder that children have porn addictions and tons of kinks in middle school, because they’ve been watching porn and things like anime that are highly accessible to kids that romanticize and sexualize sexual abuse since they were in elementary

“womb envy isn’t real” there’s more research funding to put my uterus in a male than to make it stop growing extra endometrial tissue in the wrong places. uhm anyways make sure to refer to contraceptives as for uterus-havers, we don’t want to alienate anyone uwu

Men should be banned from owning guns.
A white man shoots a black teen for accidentally going to the wrong address.
A white man shoots and kills a young woman for accidentally pulling into his driveway then quickly leaving.
A Hispanic man shoots two young women for accidentally entering his car then quickly leaving.
A black man shoots a SIX YEAR OLD, and her family over her entering his front yard to grab a basketball that bounced in.
All this within a few days.

This separatism discourse made me realize
1) A lot of radfems have a lot of unchecked internalized misogyny which they end up directing at women they don't agree with . The same people who are all about "Female liberation for all women!!!" are the same ones who instead of maturely criticizing mock women they don't agree with, call them names, ostracize them and talk down to them and often call them pornified terms.
2) Radfems are good at recognizing the roots of the problems but shit at addressing solutions to them. Asking osa women to just stop dating men is impractical and also useless because men find one way or other to oppress and terrorize women. As someone who has never dated a guy, will never date a guy and has 0 male friends. Trust me I know. As long as there are males living around you, you can't escape from misogyny or violence. And women suddenly just can't form worldwide separatist communities. But radfems still act as if female separatism is the solution to all. As it will undo the patriarchy that is supported by capitalism and other global oppressive systems. As for those communities where radfems claim they have healed from- the aim of feminism is not to heal women from the trauma given by the patriarchy but to try and eradicate the source of trauma itself.
3) it is impossible to have a normal discussion with radfems. This group preaches to be different from all other communities....apparently more educated and open minded? But from my experience once radfems have made their mind about something they wouldn't question anything about it and sometimes even lie to cover up the truth or twist the narrative.
I have decided to detach myself from the label "Radical feminist" due to the above being one of the reasons. Most of my views still match with radfems but these women (at least those in the West) don't want to have a discussion about how to actually solve those problems without simply saying "stop dating men". And I am tired of all the hypocritical misogyny. And racism. Even these apparently anti-racist radfems like "menalez" don't give af about other poc's issues and voices. She has constantly spoken over black radfems and basically any other woc and even made up lies to support her narrative. Basically anyone with even slightly different views from hers.
Hopefully radfems like you increase in number, because feminism really needs open minded radfems more. Thank you <3
Aw thanks 💕
You know none of us here online are radical anything, we're just bloggers. I wouldn't even call myself a radical feminist (or an activist) because I'm just a bonafide slacktivist. I'm planning on supporting a little girl with World Vision - putting my money where my mouth is if you will - but activism, and radicalism, requires real word action which isn't what any of us do - and the few who do probably don't talk about it here to preserve their anonymity.
So basically, it's just a matter of labels and you're absolutely free to adhere to them or not, as long as you keep in mind it doesn't translate outside of online spaces. Especially the Discourse™.

separatism wouldn't be a means to an end for me. there's nothing I want more than to live among women and only women, to build something new that would be ours. and I don't want that just because men are so awful, though yeah ofc that's part of it. I want that because I like being around other women, I like myself better then, I like the way we speak, I like the things we think of and the ways in which we share them, I'd like to learn the things we might come up with on our own, I love the possibilities it opens up.
it wouldn't be second best for me, a consolation prize for the impossibility of living with men in a fairer, kinder world. it's not a means to an end, it's the end itself.

Ok ive seen a lot of these kinds of posts lately of either straight and bi women beating themselves down for being OSA or lesbians beating down bi and straight women for being so. This needs to stop.
OSA ladies, you are not suddenly monsters for being attracted to men. You are not monsters if you choose to be with a man.
You. Are. Not. Monsters. For. Loving. Someone. Period.
Litterally the LGB community has been shouting this whole time about how you arent a monster for loving someone. The only time you are a monster is when you are condoning or participating in monsterous acts.
Fellow lesbians, do you not understand that there are just somethings that we will never fully understand but should still respect??? Even if we don't get why a OSA woman would stay with a man or want to be with one, we shouldnt fucking attack them for it jfc. That is there buisness and we cant control that. The most we can do is wish them well and be there if they need it.
Fellow separatist ladies, above applies to you also, I'm sick and tired of y'all starting fights over this shit.
On a seperate but related note, OSA ladies : if you live in Texas and hear or have a rad suggest not fucking men while living there, we are not trying to convert you to be a lesbian. We are just saying "men cant be trusted so try not to be put in that situation in the first place if it can be helped". That is all.

Maybe the best starting point for separatism is our own community. If we build it, osa women will come. In their own time. When they see we achieve safety.

These lesbians elephants named Tilly and Mae Kham live at a nature reserve run by lesbians! They flirt, cuddle, have sex, and don’t want anything to do with any males. “In fact, their reaction to anything male, such as discovering bull elephant poop: Tilly and Mae Kham Puan will repel in disgust, confusion and even fear. For at least 15 minutes, they will discuss and comfort each other over the stress caused by a pile of dung. They clearly want nothing to do with bulls, and will happily live a male-free life.” They better watch out or one of those bull elephants is going to call them out on Tumblr for being exclusionary! Jk, they’re happy, in love, & living a natural lesbian life together 🌈 😎💗
