A Summary of My Entire Internship at 107.7 The Bronc.
Since February 2018, I have been interning on 107.7 The Bronc. It has not been the easiest experience since it came with a good amount of challenges and knowledge of new skills that I had not possessed. Before my time at The Bronc, I had no experience with recording, editing, or speaking on air. I had to learn how to maneuver and master new programs, software, and technology. This was such an excellent experience because it allowed me hands-on learning and key skills that are beneficial to my future career in Journalism and Digital Media. Through working at The Bronc, it has opened my eyes and made me a more confident individual in my career of study. Before my internship, I was very reserved, kept to myself, and never saw myself branching into broadcast or the Radio. By being on the radio, I was able to express my personality and learn about myself and what I could accomplish. I am genuinely grateful for my experience as a Co-Host of Sustainable You and will always remember what it profited me in the conclusion of my time here as a student at Rider University. If I would not have pushed myself to apply to the position as Co-Host of Sustainable You, I would have missed out on a valuable opportunity.

Weekly Episode Update
Every recording session of episode has been going smoothly. Our new Co-Host is picking up all of the skills needed for the show quickly. It is a different atmosphere having an extra person on the show rather than 2 people. There is more of a deeper, richer, discussion on the show with more people.

The Green Fest 3/16/19
Today I recorded at the Annual Mercer County Green Fest and got insight on what the vendors at the affair were doing in order to make our environment more Green. Through this event, I got to experience what it was like to record live for my second time as well as interview different people on air. This was a very exciting experience in which I got to have fun and enjoy myself in the process. Recording on air live was so much different than recording on a weekly basis in a pre-recorded fashion since it requires no editing unlike a pre-recording. There was more pressure recording from a live event than recording a weekly show.

This another recent Green Tip that I recorded. I haven’t been asked to record any more Green Tips most likely due to the reason I am soon graduating and will be officially off the show. There has been a new Co-Host introduced on our show who will be taking my place. Her name is Victoria and we are honored to have her on the show. We are in the process of training and equipping her with all of the skills needed for the show.

Green Tip
This another Green Tip that I recently recorded. When I record green tips I record from a script that was prewritten by my supervisor and the Office of Sustainability. I learn a lot from what I am reading from each script and find it quite interesting as well as fascinating.

This is a recently recorded Green Tip for our show Sustainable You. Most of our Green Tips are centered around helpful tip on how to be sustainable and help the environment. Some promote events going on campus such as films pertaining to environmental matters.

Link to weekly FCC Reports for Sustainable You on 107.7 The Bronc
Throughout my experience on The Bronc and currently, I have had to make a composition of FCC Reports for the FCC describing what each of weekly episodes entailed. FCC Reports are very important to keep track of because we are dealing with an organization on a Federal level that requires specific guidelines. These reports must be handed in promptly and in an orderly fashion in order to meet the proper codes of the FCC.

This is a copy this week’s Green Tip commercial that I had to record and edit. Fairly recently, I have been recording quite a few Green tips at a time or in a condensed time period which is probably since I have more experience that I used to. Editing Green tips used to take me about two hours but now it takes me about 30 minutes to edit.
Portfolio Piece for COM-491 Internship in Communication.

This is a copy the Green Tip commercial I recorded last week. I feel extremely confident recording them and know the ins and out of the Radio Industry. By producing these tips I have become more confident through public speaking and talking to others in general.

This is a copy of the green tips that I produce every two weeks or so. I feel like I have progressed a great amount in the past year when I recorded my first one.

My Internship at 107.7 The Bronc
My name is Jalisa Malvern and I am a Journalism Major with a minor in Digital Media: Radio, TV, and Film. I am interning at The Bronc to enhance my skills and prepare me for my upcoming job in the near future. I have been at the bronc for about a year now and have gained a great amount of insight in the process of learning the ins and outs of the Radio Industry. I hope to further enhance my skills so I can become seasoned in broadcasting and public speaking. By recording my weekly show, Sustainable You and producing commercials called Green Tips I have learned in-depth knowledge about the environment and being sustainable. Since I am not an Environmental Science major or in another field related, I had very little background information about the severity of climate change, pollution, and its adverse effects. I have learned something that I can apply to future study as well as in my personal time. I will continue to learn about the industry as well as sustainability as I complete my time here at The Bronc at the end of the semester.
This is the link to my weekly radio show, Sustainable You http://www.1077thebronc.com/?page_id=2132. For all who are interested in tuning in, listen every Saturday mornings at 9 am or check out the link in order to listen to the online podcasts of the show.
