"James can I ask you something?" Lily asked, sitting across from him in their shared common room.
"Lily we’re friends now, you don’t have to ask." he replied, looking up from his Transfiguration notes.
"Sorry." she smiled
"It’s ok, ask me." he smiled back.
Lily took a deep breath before she said “Sirius told me you broke up with Lucy. Why aren’t you more effected? Why was it so easy?”
James looked down before he answered her. “It’s never easy to break up with someone you care about, but it would have been wrong to stay with her. You can’t be in a relationship knowing it’s wrong Lily, isn’t that why you broke up with Michael?”
"Yeah but you aren’t showing any emotions."
"Because I got them all out of my system during the break up. Lily just because you didn’t see them, doesn’t mean they weren’t there." he finished, looking back up at her.
"Oh." was all she said, before she looked down herself.
"Lily why did you want to know?" James questioned, confused as to why they were having the conversation.
"BecauseIwantedtoknowifyoubrokeupwithherbecauseofme." Lily blurted out, before covering her mouth and looking up at him, green eyes wide.
James’ hazel eyes and smile softened. “Of course I did Lily, I still really like you, and it wasn’t fair to Lucy to carry on in a relationship I knew would never work. Did you break up with Michael because of me?” he asked, suddenly hopeful of the direction of their conversation.
Lily lowered her hand, and very timidly nodded.
James’ heart leaped in his chest, before he reached out and took both of Lily’s small hands in one of his.
“Well in that case, Lily Evans, will you go out with me, please?”
"Yes." Lily breathed, her own heart beating rapidly, her face lit up by her smile.
James smiled right back, before placing a soft kiss on her cheek. Then with a last smile he returned to his Transfiguration notes, and Lily ran off to tell Marlene and Dorcas. As soon as she left the room, James grabbed his mirror and called Sirius, desperate to tell him the news.

James Potter (27 March, 1960 – 31 October, 1981), also known as Prongs, was a pure-blood wizard and son of Mr. and Mrs. Potter. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1971 to 1978, and was sorted into Gryffindor House. When James started at Hogwarts, he met and befriended fellow Gryffindor students Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. He also met Severus Snape, a Slytherin student who he frequently antagonised, and Lily Evans, a fellow Gryffindor who James fell in love with. (x)

-smirks- Scissors, clearly. I'm not daft.
What, are you going to give me an unexpected hair cut? Make me look stylish, darling!
-glares-
Do you know what these are? Do you know how they can be used against you?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Lils, but that was, technically, a warning, no?
At any rate, I think we're getting along just swimmingly for once, even if you are a bit on edge. Look at you, so beautiful when you're all riled up.
Everyone knows that, it’s not exactly a secret.
But something you should know is that I’m quick with a wand and I don’t give out warnings. So watch it.

I know that I'm quite proficient at wearing on your last nerve...
So is your skirt. And what a lovely sight that is.
You know nothing.
And your humor’s wearing a little thin there, Potter.
