Juliette couldn’t help but laugh at his dumb blow bus comment. “And here I thought your blow bus was always ready to start it’s engine.” She teased, rolling her eyes at his month or two comment. “You hear that buddy? If he can get used to me, he’ll get used to you.” She pet Rocko as he panted while looking out the window before reaching over and resting her hand on Jay’s, giving it a little squeeze before reaching out and turning up the radio, leaving it on his usual station. Sometimes she’d pout to get him to give up the same old stations he listened to so she could play something else, but she’d already won big time today, so she just left it. The blonde turned in her seat so that her feet were right next to Jay’s lap, knees bent and keeping Rocko in place while she pet and played with the new member of their family. Once they were home, she helped Jay with one hand to carry some things in before setting Rocko down. “Well Rocko, this is your new home.” She grinned, watching him look around and slowly start to wander before finding the back door. “At least he knows to go outside already.” She hummed out as she let the little guy on their back patio, leaving the door open as she went to help Jay find a place for things like food and treats. “What an exciting morning!” She grinned, leaning over to kiss his cheek. “Thank you again.” The blonde gave his bicep a little squeeze as she moved past him to look for Rocko out in the yard. “Can you toss me one of those tiny balls?”
Jay continued to sing along to the radio the entire way home. When they got back home he backed up into the driveway to make the haul in easier. After several trips inside he was finally able to lock up the car and house before falling back onto the couch. “Don’t pee on anything!” Jay yelled as he moved his hand up to cover his eyes with a yawn. Jay let out a little grunt as she chirped about her exciting morning. “Yeah, yeah, your welcome.” He said reaching over to pat her on the butt as she walked past him. “If I throw all of them can I go upstairs and take a nap until we order dinner?” Jay asked sitting up and starting to dig through the bag before finding the set and ripping the packaging open. “Duck!’ He yelled before throwing the four balls out into the yard in quick succession.

“He’s worked up, don’t shame him for running hot. One of us in this family has to be the hot one.” She rolled her eyes, smile still in place as they walked out of the store. “I assume one of us will carry him. Though if he tries going down the stairs we may have to get a baby gate, but I figure that’s a good way of knowing he’s on the same floor as us. Then we don’t have to worry if he’s a shoe shredder or something.” After getting everything packed up, she got in the car with him, Rocko once again happily standing in her lap, trying to see over the passenger door panel to see out the window. Looking over at Jay, Jules sighed. “If I blow you when we get home will it get that look off your face? You got the same look for almost a week when I brought home that plant clippings station and now you love that we have a little more green in the house.”
“Dear god don’t let this thing eat shoes.” He shook his head as he shut the trunk. Jay went to take the cart back before getting in the driver seat and looking over at them. “Stay.” He pointed a finger at Rocko before backing up and starting the drive home. “Nah, the blow bus has left the station.” He said with a laugh, “It’s fine, it’s just a new thing in my space and I don’t like change. You know I don’t like change and you still act surprised. Just give it...” Jay looked at the small dog in her lap before looking back at the road, “A month or two.”

“Is that what you really want? A baby?” She asked with her eyebrows raised. “Everything and more.” She grinned teasingly at Jay. At his lap comment, she let out a little laugh and made sure Rocko was safe and comfy in her lap, though he seemed most interested in trying to see out her window. “Yes, life hasn’t been nice to him, so we are, okay buddy? Even when he drives us crazy, you give love. Those are just the rules.” Juliette kept her quiet tone as she talked to their new boy. “Smart.” She nodded his way and slipped her phone out of her bra before calling Nicole. She put the phone on speaker as Nicole asked for pictures of their new dog and then started laughing at Jay for now owning a rat. Once they got some recommendations on toys and essentials, they said their goodbyes and made their way in the pet store. “So I know what brands of foods are best recommended and of course we want to get some little greenies. Do you think the tiny ones will be small enough for him?” She asked some questions as they walked around, Jay pushing the cart while Juliette showed Rocko everything they were getting him. It took a while, but they finally had an assortment of wet and dry foods, many different treats, a cute new collar for him with a little bow-tie on it and Jay picked out the leash. Everything felt oddly and wonderfully domestic, from picking out the tag and putting both their information on it, deciding whether or not to keep his name the same, to deciding on crates, beds and if they should get a car seat. As they stood in line, getting ready to check out, Juliette held the pup out for Jay so she could get her card out of her wallet. “They say men with babies are cute, but I think this has babies beat.” She smiled up at them. “I hope he gets along with Nicole’s little guy. They said we should allow him about five day’s adjustment time to get used to our home and if he seems to acclimate well then we should try introducing him to Nicole’s dog and if that goes well, maybe we can try the dog park. But obviously only let him into the small dog side, he’d be puppy chow for a big dog.” She spoke to Jay despite not looking at him, instead petting their little guy’s head.
As they walked into the store, Jay grabbed a cart knowing Juliette would have her full attention on Rocko. “Well, babe, I’m sure even if they aren’t you’ll sit in the kitchen all night cutting them up for him.” He said before flashing her a big cheesy smile. As she continued to pile more and more things in the cart, he wanted to complain but he knew that she would throw all the car and bike parts in his face. Going through every aisle, he couldn’t believe all the stuff they had for dogs and the same for cats. Cats just like boxes and food, why was there a huge tunnel? He felt himself let out a sigh of relief before he could even catch it when they got to the register. ‘Oh no no no-” Jay said putting his hands up before Jay pulled one of his hands down and set the dog in it. “I don’t like this.” He looked down at the small dog in his hand looking back up at him. “Don’t look at me like that. Eyes front, idiot.” He said before looking straight ahead at some dumb display for cat grass. The next few moments were blanked out of his memory until Juliette took Rocko back and he could grab the cart again. “How is he so hot? My hand is full of sweat now.” He made a grossed out face rubbing his palm on his pant leg before continuing to push the cart outside. “So... Have you figured out how this thing is supposed to go up and down the stairs when the steps are bigger than him?” He asked looking over at her as they loaded the multiple bags in the car.

“I want you to not hate our baby.” She said with a little teasing tone in her voice, but nodded at his offer of going to sign for Rocko while she held him. She let him down on the ground, but he definitely didn’t seem into going to play with the ball, rather pranced around for a few moments and then came back to her feet before standing there and staring at her. With a little grin, she picked him back up and headed inside to go meet up with Jay who was still signing. “I think he’s going to be a simple little guy to take care of.” She said with a little happy sigh as she rested her chin on his shoulder. They went through the process of getting Rocko micro chipped with their information on it before finally heading out. “Are you ready to get food, buddy?” She asked the little panting guy in her lap as they headed to the pet store. “This is your daddy, he’s a little grumpy, but you’ll love his snuggles.” She whispered to Rocko with a little grin. “Soo we’ll need food, bowls, treats, a collar and leash… what else?”
“That’s what we should’ve done! Had a real baby! Then I could’ve at least had fun making it.” He shook his head with a laugh as he watched her attempts to play with the small dog. “I’m going to go fill out the stuff, I guess.” Standing up he patted his pants trying to find his wallet before walking out. As he found his way to the front desk and started filling out forms time started to pass quickly. Jay couldn’t believe the amount of agreements and forms you had to sign and fill out just to take a dog home. It was good for the animals protection but at this rate why would anyone want to adopt an animal. You can’t just go in and get anything done quickly. “Is he all you ever hoped” He asked seeing the blonde walk out to meet him. As Juliette said she wanted to get him micro-chipped, he wanted to groan at the thought of another form but the clerk was already annoyed with him.  Getting into the car, Jay put his seatbelt on before turning to her, “Do not let it jump in my lap while I’m driving. That’s not allowed.” He started to back up as she introduced the dog to him. “I’m not grumpy. I’m seasoned by life. It’s a completely different thing.”  Turning onto the main road, he shrugged, “I don’t know. A kennel to sleep in.Nicole has a dog, why don’t you call her?”

“If you have ever though I wanted you to boss me around anywhere but the bedroom then you were terribly mistaken.” As Juliette joined him and started eating her own breakfast, she rolled her eyes. “You already deal with me waking you up, I highly doubt a dog will be waking you up any earlier.” She ate her breakfast and let him gather up their dishes, loading up the washing machine. “You’re going to love a dog. You complain now, but you’ll finally have a friend to go on walks with you when you get your little chaotic spurts of energy.” She teased before walking to the door, running her fingers through her hair and working out any little tangles in the nearby mirror before grabbing her bag and keys, dangling them for him to take since he always seemed to want to drive. “Let’s go get us a pup!” The two drove about fifteen minutes to the shelter and the whole time Juliette just wondered why she had never gotten a dog before now. She’d had them growing up her whole life, but when she lived on her own it seemed like a responsibility that she didn’t want to commit the time to. But now, being able to share some of the care with Jay meant a furry friend should be no problem. Once inside, she talked to a gal at the front desk who walked her back to the kennels where Rocko was and she immediately stuck a finger in the crate to pet him while the worker found the right keys. “He’s even smaller than I thought.” Once it was opened, she picked the little guy up and was so relieved when he just started nudging her chin with his nose. “Hey buddy-” She was talking to the little guy as the worker showed them back to a caged in grass pad where people could interact with the dogs before making a decision and left her and Jay with the little guy. “You want to hold him?”
“Oh yeah, I’ll go on a fun walk with my rat.” He gave her a confused look before taking her keys and walking out to her car. As they made their way to the shelter, he thought about how much Nicole was going to taunt him now that her wimpy, smashed nose dog would now be bigger than his dog. When they finally got to the shelter, Jay was ready to get this signed over and in the car because he knew this would mean for at least two hours at Pet Smart. Watching her pick up the small dog he couldn’t help but smile at her. As they walked into the private room he shook his head and sat down, “No I don’t. Do you want to throw the ball that’s bigger than him or are you just gonna hold him for twenty minutes?” As she moved to kick him he let out a laugh, “What? What do you want me to say or do? I can fill out the paper work while you hold him? That’s all I got!”

julietteanastasiahansen‌:
Juliette was plating Jay’s omelet as he came downstairs and was finishing up the last of the bacon before adding a few strips to his plate. Adding fresh buttered toast, she grabbed some utensils and set it down in front of him, sitting herself on the edge of the table before very gently grabbing his jaw and smiling down at him before he could even take a first bite. “If you try to dad me about the responsibilities of owning a five pound dog, I may just choke you.” Her lips landed in a bit of a indignant pout before she leaned over to steal a kiss, sitting upright again with a little grin. “I’ve taken care of myself for this long, I think I can handle it. Though if you ever think of buying a purse or some shit for me to carry him, even as a joke, that will be the first thing I let it chew up.” Running her hand back through his damp hair, she stood and walked back into the kitchen to make herself a couple scrambled eggs and sandwiched them between toast before joining Jay, making sure to top off their coffees before sitting down. “Thank you for dealing with my obsession as of late, I assure you, I am much more excited than you for the hunt to hopefully be over. Oh my god imagine we get there and he’s a tiny little asshole.”
Jay rolled his eyes before she kissed him, “Isn’t that the point of dating an older man? He gets to dad you.” After taking another drink of coffee, he picked up his knife and fork and started to cut up his omelet. Between taking bites of his omelet he grabbed the remote and turned on the television. He was never up early enough to watch the morning news so this should be interesting. “I would say I’m glad this is over too but now I’ll have to deal with small yaps waking me up with the sun comes up. I hope when we get there he’s just a big ole asshole and maybe we can go to Pet Smart and get you like... I don’t know... A hamster?” It wasn’t like Jay hated dogs or even small dogs, well maybe, he just didn’t want to have to deal with the extra chores of a dog. He was happy to just exist with her. It had been so long since he was just able to relax and be happy and now he was going to be back to big responsibilities.

“It’s natural. Maybe if you wore me out more before bed you’d get to sleep in.” Juliette teased back. “Plus I don’t need excitement, I just needed you to not say no.” She bounced out of bed on her side and stretched upwards, bending side to side before walking past Jay to the closet, swatting his butt as she passed. “Omelet I can do. Do you want toast and bacon?” The blonde pulled some jeans on and changed out of his t-shirt to a tank top before heading out of their room. “I’ll get coffee ready!” Jay was always a lot slower at coming to life in the morning, so while he took his time coming alive, she started up breakfast, bringing him back a cup of coffee once it was brewed and getting his breakfast plated by the time he wandered out. “Feeling more alive? I’m sorry, I should have let you sleep. I just get excited.”
Jay gave her a look as she swatted his butt before agreeing to toast and bacon. As he made his way into the bathroom with a groan and turned on the shower. Slowly as the water got hotter he felt himself start to wake up and become more alert. He let out one finally yawn before turning the water to cold for the final minute before stepping out. He got dressed with a generic shirt and jeans before making his way into the bedroom. Grabbing the cup off the dresser he walked downstairs to meet Juliette in the kitchen. “Yeah, thanks. I just don’t like mornings. I became a bartender for a reason, you know?” Jay kissed her cheek before stepping behind her to go sit in the dining room. “So, when this dog pees on your carpet and eats all your shoes, I want you to remember this morning specifically because I don’t think this dog thing is going to be as easy as you hope.”
