Cats 2019 is actually good.

Once you get past the CGI, the movie is fun. The actors all seem to be enjoying themselves, the musical arrangements are perfectly fine (and for Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, actually better than the stage version), and overall it's an enjoyable ride.

Pre-preliminaries will be used to determine what qualifies as a hot take. Propaganda is encouraged!

Here it is, finally! The Regency au I kept talking about during the Brawl is finally live!

Mr. Mistoffelees Jones is the illegitimate son of Mr. Bustopher Jones, and this illegitimacy hangs like the Sword of Damocles over his head, interfering with all of his prospects in life. Fortunately he has been legitimized, so as long as he keeps his reputation unsullied long enough to make a respectable enough marriage, the question of his status will cease to be of import-- as long as he can do that before his father finds out he might not even be his son at all. But it's okay. Misto is capable of playing the respectable young gentleman, and he has charms enough to offer that he's sure he can make a good match if he works at it. And then the Deuteronomy brothers move into the neighborhood, and Mistoffelees' life is flipped turned upside down as he finds himself under pursuit by the most eligible bachelor in England-- who unfortunately seems determined to tear away every shred of Mistoffelees' careful respectability until all that's left is whatever he keeps beneath it.

I finished typing the first arc of the Regency au! Chapter 1 should go up tomorrow, I want to go through the whole arc in one sitting to make sure it holds itself together well

Fumi-ba

Grandma who runs a small takoyaki stand and gives advice to customers who need it. She encouraged so many of the main cast to follow their hearts and become happy that it broke my heart when she died. Then again, we did get to see the main character (who was a ghost at the time) wear a suit to her funeral x'D
