Watching the “you will excel at what you measure” trap devour basic moral practice in real time is fascinating in a terrible kind of way

I do think it's pretty funny that fanfic premises based on illegitimate kids as an excuse for crossovers over the years have gone from "Mom character CHEATED on Dad character 😡" to "once upon a time, mommy and daddy had a threesome and now we have YOU!" lmaoooo. People don't want marital discord they just want a third parent

ACTUALLY Laerryn's actions in episode 2 are not at all condemnable because they're the high fantasy equivalent of like. You've finished your super cool piece of code and it's actually passed all its unit tests this time, but when you try to run your first integration tests then it all works perfectly except it slows your system to a crawl. So you (a non-habitual Windows user) grudgingly open up task manager and see that some unrelated system file with all numbers in the name and a file extension you don't recognise is taking up a huge amount of your CPU and memory. You Google it and get no clear documentation, and so you check Stack Exchange and there's like 2 answers saying "don't uninstall this" with no good explanation. So you're like "well how bad can it be" and you kill the process, and your code starts running perfectly! You tell your friends about it! It's great! Then you find an ancient forum post that's like "hey don't do this it will brick your computer, here's why" and you find out the file you stopped running was actually a crucial, load-bearing component of your antivirus software
Anyway, the moral of Calamity is that you should be running your flying cities on Linux. What was I saying

The Fallout show is pretty fun so far. I still have 3 episodes to go. Everytime Lucy said "Okey dokey", this was all I could picture.

A 28-year-old motorcyclist died in Washington State on Friday afternoon because a dipshit Tesla driver rear-ended him at speed. A Snohomish man, 56, was commuting in his 2022 Tesla Model S when he activated the car’s camera-based advanced driver assist system and according to his statements to police, began looking through his phone. With nobody paying attention to the car’s actions, the Tesla software ignored Jeffrey Nissen on his motorcycle and continued on at speed. The car rear-ended the two-wheeler, Nissen was flung from the bike, and his life ended pinned underneath the electric car, where he was still lodged when police arrived to the scene.
Tesla claims another life.
Reminder that even if you are personally aware of how dangerous Tesla vehicles are and vow to never ride in one, they can still kill you.
My own driving habits have changed around them. I always give Teslas extra space, avoid following them directly, and expect them to stop or swerve suddenly without notice.
Cannot count the times I've pulled up next to a Tesla at freeway speed, noticed the driver playing on their phone. Tap the horn. They look up with surprise.
Please, don't be that guy.
