so I know I have had anons stop by and tell me that they wanted to get into IndyCar but had no idea where to start!

There is a lovely person on Twitter named Cassie who put together a whole beginner's guide and has wonderfully given me permission to post it for you guys to see! She has a little website with links to her Twitter and other informational threads she has. You can find that here. I highly recommend you follow her!

The Beginner's Guide is fairly lengthy so to keep from overwhelming, I'm breaking it up into different parts -- the first part covers the cars and the tracks!

ANYWAY i forgot to update this thread when it was announced he was doing that testing stuff for mclaren. so. maybe i’m not thinking enough/don’t know enough but the things that still catch me are why andretti is buying a team if colton were to go to mclaren, and what about pato? you know, the young mclaren driver who has expressed interest and skill in f1?

Guys....I've just seen that this year Indy 500 is on the same day as the Monaco GP. Two iconic races on the same day, now that's gonna be fun

You are really reaching if you think that jewellery can be a safety issue, just admit that you think the fia can do no wrong

Okay so go look up a degloving injury (they are very severe just a warning), they can happen due to jewellery and anyone who has worked in a workshop will tell you that.

And also go look up Bill Dennis Daytona Crash, he suffered multiple injuries particularly to his throat and neck and it was that accident that resulted in NASCAR outlawing neck chains on drivers.

Also if a driver is in a major accident piercings or jewellery can end up doing more damage. It could also cause an issue with MRI scans.

Kids at school have to remove jewellery for physical education or gym lessons, it’s not that big of an ask and this is a rule that has been in the FIA international sporting code (ISC)since 2006.

Why has it been brought back now - we have two race directors who have come from different FIA racing series and they are implementing the ISC in what appears to be a stricter manner than before.

Many racing series follow this rule; both FIA series and other, it’s not a new rule to target particular drivers. It is there for safety.

So stop reaching.

Charles LeClerc’s IG Gains - A Closer Look:

I am honestly thrilled to see people interested in Charles’ social media gains so I thought I’d do a deeper dive on it.

Firstly, I want to tell you more about my process — I have spreadsheets that I use to track the social media numbers — I use desktop versions of Twitter and IG to see the full followers and I log them that way.

Sometimes I use socialblade to look at historical data but I prefer to log follower counts by hand because their servers only pull once a day and it’s never consistent.

With that said, I have been tracking both NASCAR and IndyCar since last off-season with F1 being tracked to some extent but not as much but I started logging F1 much more closely at the start of the month.

Since the night before DTS S4 dropped, I have logged almost daily (or more than once a day) so I have amassed quite a bit of data for all drivers, not just Charles so please let me know who you’d like to see next

I made a graph to show Charles growth from the night before DTS dropped to last night (I’m adding a labeled and unlabeled one, it’s the same graph though):

As you can see, Charles gained around 10k a day but after the start of the race weekend, his numbers shot up very very quickly (and still have gone up).

I’ll be pulling the numbers to complete the race weekend set at the 24 hour mark and I’ll update the graph/this post then.

I track driver social media gains and my jaw dropped at how many IG followers Charles has gained this weekend — nearly 200k when I checked a few hours ago (he’s probably surpassed that by now tho).

it is long past time where other racing fans look down at indycar. indy is not ‘lesser,’ not a feeder series. some fans are not willing to give different racing that could actually be good —dare i say better?— a chance.

next race is sunday march 20th 12:30ET!

i’m going to watch, and and i’d assume so is everyone else on this thread. and probably the idk other millions of people who watched st. pete.

yes actually to both of those 💕 i know it’s hard for f1 fans to rationalize that other series exist and that people enjoy those other series but i believe in you!! you’re a big kid! you can do it!

aha i return after the practice broadcast to Think about this again. based off the commentary and quite a lot of stuff elsewhere i am 0% a fan of how everyone is saying with such certainty that 2024 andretti will have an f1 (f2/f3) team and colton WILL be their driver. although i did find it humorous the article in RACER (or motorsport??) they interviewed colton and he was like (sarcastically) well i dunno i’ll be 24 then and by then i’ll be too old
