By Pastor Philip Cofie
16th August, 2022
Main Verse: ‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15)
Further Reading: Malachi 3:6-12/ Leviticus 27:30
Commentary
1. Tithing initiate the foundation of Prosperity
Kingdom prosperity, in it basic principle is premised on sowing and reaping. The bible teaches us that, as long as the earth remains seed time and harvest time shall not cease. The principle of sowing and reaping gives the tither an access into kingdom prosperity because tithing allows you to sow and once you have sown, you are certain to have a blessed harvest. In the kingdom, if you sow nothing you will reap nothing.
For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no flour; if it were to yield, strangers would devour it. (Hosea 8:7)
2. Tithing invokes a covenant blessing
When God initiated the acts of tithing, he attached a blessed promise thus a covenant was initiated. As a matter of fact Jacob entered into a tithing covenant with God that was meant to bless his life and generation. Our God is a covenant keeping God and once we willingly and obediently do our part, his covenant blessings are bestowed on us
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God, and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you. (Genesis 28:20-22)
3. Tithing invokes the blessing of gratitude and thanksgiving
There is always a blessing for those who are thankful and grateful. The opposite can be said for those who are unthankful and ungrateful. Generally in life, thankful and grateful people are blessed and helped in life. A thankful and grateful person always attract goodness and favour.
When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance and have taken possession of it and live in it, you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from your land that the LORD your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket, and you shall go to the place that the LORD your God will choose, to make his name to dwell there. ( Deutronomy 26:1-2)

If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; (Isaiah 1:19)

DEKATE
By Pastor Philip Cofie Date: 15th August, 2022
Main Verse: Jeremiah 3:15
And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Further Reading: Malachi 3:6-12/ Leviticus 27:30
Commentary
Dekate is the Greek word which is translated into the word "tithe" and means "the tenth" or "ten percent" of everything you have.
Tithing means to give ten percent of everything you have to God.
1. The tithe is God's property. Its actually not a money you give to God but money that belongs to him. Its the Lords money in your pocket. Its the Lords money in your hands. It's the Lords money you must hand over to him. It's not your money!
Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD's; it is holy to the LORD. (Leviticus 27:30)
2. The tithe is a Holy Money; its a sacred money that must not be touched or misused. There are many things God described as Holy: Marriage is holy, human life is holy, sex in marriage certain is holy, the name of God is holy and THE TITHE IS HOLY unto the Lord.
Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD's; it is holy to the LORD. (Leviticus 27:30)
3. Tithing helps to take care of the priest
To the Levites I have given every tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service that they do, their service in the tent of meeting, so that the people of Israel do not come near the tent of meeting, lest they bear sin and die. But the Levites shall do the service of the tent of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations, and among the people of Israel they shall have no inheritance. For the tithe of the people of Israel, which they present as a contribution to the LORD, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance. Therefore I have said of them that they shall have no inheritance among the people of Israel. (Numbers 18:22-24)

.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says( James 1:22)
