Messi era begins as PSG beats Reims; Mbappe scores 2

Actor Ed Asner, TV’s blustery Lou Grant, dies at 91

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ed Asner, the burly and prolific character actor who became a star in middle age as the gruff but lovable newsman Lou Grant, first in the hit comedy “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and later in the drama “Lou Grant,” died Sunday. He was 91.

Asner’s representative confirmed the actor’s death in an email to The Associated Press. Asner’s official Twitter account included a note from his children: “We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.”

Built like the football lineman he once was, the balding Asner was a journeyman actor in films and TV when he was hired in 1970 to play Lou Grant on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” For seven seasons he was the rumpled boss to Moore’s ebullient Mary Richards (He called her “Mary,” she called him “Mr. Grant”) at the fictional Minneapolis TV newsroom where both worked. Overdue overture: NASCAR gives Scott family 1963 race trophy

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. — Wendell Scott's grandson stood on his tippy toes, leaned over and kissed the trophy that was nearly 60 years in the making.

NASCAR presented Scott’s family a custom trophy commemorating his historic 1963 victory prior to Saturday's Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Scott was the first and remains the only Black driver to win a race at NASCAR’s top level.

Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins to undergo tests Sunday after exiting win vs. Washington with knee injury

A key Baltimore Ravens starter suffered a potentially serious injury early in Saturday's preseason victory over the Washington Football Team.

Running back J.K. Dobbins was helped off the field, putting no weight on his left leg. The running back had his leg bent backward after catching a screen pass. He immediately grabbed his left knee.

Dobbins was taken directly to the blue medical tent. He was carted to the locker room and ruled out with a knee injury.

The severity of the injury remained unclear after the game.

Matthew Mindler, "Our Idiot Brother" actor, has died at 19

Matthew Mindler, a child star known for his role in "Our Idiot Brother," was found dead Saturday. He was 19.

Eagles Rookie Report Card: Kenny G shines

Marlon Tuipulotu needed a strong performance against the Jets to contend for a roster spot and certainly got the playing time tonight to make them. Save for a late tackle for loss, it is hard to be impressed with his night. He made some tackles down the field due to his motor, but he failed to get any push as a pass rusher and got moved too easily by the Jets running game. Tuipulotu had an uphill climb to begin with, given the Eagles depth at defensive line, and tonight was just another middling performance for him when he needed to shine.
