Two photos, taken a minute apart at the midpoint of the Heather-Maple Pass hike. The point of including this is less to show off the scenery than it is to play with the 3D effect of the juxtaposition, and also to see how to create animated GIFs in Gimp (freeware image-editing software).
On Thursday and Friday, October 10 & 11, 2018, my buddy Rob and I launched two day trips into the North Cascades. On Thursday, we did the incomparable Heather - Maple Pass loop and then spent the night in Winthrop. On the following morning, we drove back to the pass and hiked north to see Cutthroat Pass.
The view north from the Heather - Maple Pass loop. The green valley in the center-left of the photograph leads up to our destination for the following day - Cutthroat Pass.
A trip into the Enchantment Lakes, 10/1-3/18. These pictures were taken as Gary and I walked back from Asgaard Pass to our campsite at Snow Lake, and then on my walk out, through the remains of an early snowfall.
Loretta and I hiked to Lake Ingalls on June 26th, 2018. The day was simply perfect, except for one selfie that was more foot-centric than I’d expected.
