Black Lives Matter social media
the subject of my social media selection is the Black Lives Matter social media account (Blklivesmatter). Black Lives Matter is a decentralized political and social movement that seeks to highlight racism, discrimination, and racial inequality experienced by black people, and promote anti-racism. Its primary concerns are incidents of police brutality and racially motivated violence against black people. I chose this social media because it relates to our topic in class about the civil rights movement. a nationwide movement for equal rights for African Americans and for an end to racial segregation and exclusion arose across the United States. by how the " March on Milwaukee " contributed to the national fight for civil rights for African - Americans and to passage of the federal fair housing act in 1968. Like an example of this is in our week 4 articles with the articles titled Richard Dryer , " on the Matter of Whiteness " and Peggy McIntosh " white privilege : unpacking the invisible knapsack" , and Peggy McIntosh " white privilege checklist". Black Lives Matter is a protestested social group demanding the police and kkk afilliates to stop killing the black community just because they have a dark skin tone. Police and the whites were killing these African American's for the wrongful reasons. an example of this is in Minnesota where a man named George Floyd was wrongfully accused and a police officer kneeled on his face and he was telling the officer " I can't breathe". In addition there was a teenager named Trayvon Martin who was just eating skittles with his hood up and gets fatally shot and murrdered for no reason at all. What I mean by white privilege is that the whites are more superior than any other color. An example would be Emmitt Till and how was brutal murdered and hunted by the neck for whistling at a white lady. Black Lives Matter also relates to week 7 African Americans pdf. Like I said before Black Lives Matter is a group that wants justice for the whites wrongful actions and the civil rights movement had no say in anything. the African American wasn't always like this with the 13th amendment in 1865 with slavery being abandoned and the 14th amendment in 1868 were all slaves were granted citizenship in the great migration. In week 1 race and ethnicity with the articles titled Gregory Jay, "what is multiculturalism" with how the world was segregated. It was the black community vs the white community in this battle for equality. Blacks couldn't do things that the whites couldn't do like drink out the same butler , and eat at certain spots at restraints and justice just wasn't equal to the African community.

Get out ( Movie )
I used the film called "Get Out " for my project because the subject in this movie is focused on an African American Man named Chris Washington who is a photographer that is dating a Caucasian girl for 5 months named Rose Armitage. Rose invites Chris to meet her parents in the middle of nowhere and Chris becomes nervous due to the fact Rose never mention to her parents that Chris is African American, while traveling to her parent’s house Chris experiences racial issues. I chose this movie because it relates to our topic in class about the " couple in a cage " week 5. the couple in a cage topic was about the Americans taking advantage of the native tribes. the couple in a cage was for entertainment purposes but it shown a male and a female in a cage, can't communicate with each other or viewers, but the viewers could talk to them and take pictures of them, and the whole experiment showcased that Americans would exploit the native culture for money. This relates to the movie " Get out " by how in the movie the white people who lived where Rose’s parents lived would kidnap African Americans and hypnotize them by taking them to this thing, they called the " sunken place " The sunken place is a trance-like, otherworld state black victims of hypnosis are trapped in when their bodies are taken over by white hosts. This movie represents racial and ethnic identities by these white people are only targeting the African American culture and no other culture. In the movie they kidnap African Americans and then have an auction on who can control their bodies. In the movies they take male and female African Americans and just turn them into this robot machine only they can control, Chris notices it real early in the movie when he talks to an African American maid and African American man who he knew about. This movie also relates to our section in week 4 with the article " Richard Dryer, "On the matter of whiteness" and how the article talks about the white culture having this thing called "white privilege". white privilege is inherent advantages possessed by a white person based on their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice. I relate white privilege to this movie because I personally feel like the African American culture wouldn't get away with these types of things, and I feel like the white people got away with it just because their white and have the power to do that. Another reason why I feel like they get away with it is because socioeconomic class and how the blacks were on a low level then the rich white folks. This is a great movie to watch by how it teaches you that African Americans were a big target in the white folk’s eye and by having white privilege means you have the power and more superior than anyone else.

Everybody Hates Chris
I used the tv show called Everybody hates Chris for my project because the subject in this tv series is focused on an African American family that has to experience a lot of racial issues especially the main character named Chris who is this teenage boy who goes to school at Corleone Junior high school in Brooklyn New York. I choose this tv series because it relates to our topic in class about the civil rights movement and all the articles that African Americans had to deal with , with not having the same benefits as the non color people. Like an example of this is in our week 4 articles with the articles titled Richard Dryer , " on the Matter of Whiteness " and Peggy McIntosh " white privilege : unpacking the invisible knapsack" , and Peggy McIntosh " white privilege checklist". Everybody hates Chris relates to these articles by how Chris and his family had to experienced different things all because of their skin color. Chris experienced bullying at school from a pale white boy named Caruso. In season 1 episode 12 Chris seen a leather jacket on his classmate and he wanted one for himself. Chris did everything he could to get a job but nobody was going to hire an African teenager because the job he wanted the managers were white , so he had to go to his father job to try and get a leather jacket. On top of that Chris is a very smart teenager who receive really good grades at school but his teacher who name is Ms Morello is a racial Insensitive professor who gives Chris a hard time. Everybody hates Chris also relates to our week 1 race and ethnicity with the articles titled Gregory Jay, "what is multiculturalism" with how the society in the tv series is divided. In the tv show society is very divided by how all the African Americans usually hang around all the African Americans and the white people usually be around other white people, they do mix together in some episode but mostly each racial group stay within their racial group. In addition in the tv show the African males are usually the workers while the African females usually do the house cleaning and self care.
