Oh my god like literally, finally I am not alone. Dude people were literally like ooohhh Tom deserves better yeahhh oh you know what let's ship him with someone who he doesn't even care about. People ship them saying that janna likes demon stuff and Tom is a demon so they would make a good couple like literally wtf. Does janna talks to her mom or does she play ping-pong or does she likes makeup?? Like why people ship them?

Ans: of course because people want star and Marco to be together and don't want Tom to be a third wheel so they just ship him with janna. Why no why?

I discussed about this in svtfoe reddit but people over there ahem *starco shippers* started attacking me saying that janna likes pink and Tom's hair is pink or they are both into creepy stuff or they both had a cute chemistry or janna was flirty with tom(she talks the same way with Marco then why don't you ship her with him hah?)

It triggers me when people waste Tom's character into a simp for janna in their aus. Like literally, people are like he deserved better, janna will make him happy. The person who never even cared about his shit deserves him for starco shippers but not the girl he dated and loved the most and his best friend who he likes to sing romantic songs with. I now hate svtfoe fandom ( starco shippers) like literally they will kill you if you are shipping tomstar or tomco because starco and jantom are Conon for them but for me they both suck and are cringe. Besides,its not necessary that Tom deserves better so you know what he should date like literally it's okay to be single( cmon single lives matter:() I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY OPINION. I am happy that I am not the only one. You made my day.

What do you think of the Janna / Tom ship? I never liked the Janna/Tom ship. Really, outside of Janna's love of occult things, her and Tom have basically nothing to bond over.

personally i never cared for the ship, i get the impression it’s popular only because starco artists made it popular.

Because and i need to make this clear, jantom is at it’s heart, a crackship.

that’s nothing against crackships (I have them myself) but crackships are liked more for the ideas behind them then anything else, they’re not viable ships to ever become canon and that’s the point, people like them more for their ideas then anything and they enjoy them in a bubble.

Knowing they’ll never really happen.

but the star fandom sorta seems to think of it as a ship that both needs to exist and makes sense for the series to do.

it doesn’t.

The thing was was their ship was built on a bit of a superficial level, it was “Oh janna is spooky” and “Tom is demon” so naturally they want the spooky people together.

but show wise? They’re not really a fit match at all?

tom is a bad boy on appearance whose a demon but he’s a romantic, extremely soft, mature, clearly has a lot of self loathing issues and doesn’t like actually hurting people he cares about.

Janna tbh is kinda creepy in general when you think about it (Like reverse the sexs and her and marco’s relationship would never have flown on disney), she doesn’t care about people’s feelings that much, has no respect for privacy, has seemingly a bit of a soft side that isn’t explored much and well overall she’s a comedy character.

she’s mostly for humor, she doesn’t have enough to her to work as a viable love interest and that’s because her relationships are surface level and are never deeply explored. She doesn’t get serious development with anyone, she’s mostly there for jokes and that’s it in most cases.

This doesn’t make her bad but puts her lower then kelly, or tom or jackie, characters who i can’t claim are the most developed either but were written as characters and not always there for funny purposes.

kelly develops stuff with marco and so does jackie, and so does tom with both marco and star. There is genuine bonding going on between them where they talk about stuff and help each other feel better and that never happens with janna.

janna is just not made for a love interest and if she was one she’d probably be used for humor, and considering her humor usually amounts to harmful intent on marco you might run into some uncomfortable implications.

i know it’s not meant to be taken seriously, but still.

after tom spent so long dealing with a relationship he was ignored and neglected in, i’m not sure what the appeal is of giving him to the girl who is fine stealing his things, racking into his personal business, and does not care about his personal issues.

it just sounds like you’re looking to transfer the guy into another toxic situation on the basis of “They’re creepy”, even though tom has wAY more to his character then that and janna as a character is kinda....the worst kinda person you would want to date.

and i never got where people said they had chemistry because the one episode they talked in they spent the majority of it being annoyed at each other. And not in a compelling “We don’t like each other but secretly we do”, like a love hate/thing, like janna is constantly rude to tom and is basically using him, she didn’t even invite the guy to be nice, it was for selfish gain.

and tom was rightfully annoyed about that.

Heck, tom was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE hearing janna put a TRACKER on marco later down the road, i’m not sensing this is something he wants to put himself through.

There was no secret feelings or came out that janna did care about tom this whole time, she literally didn’t care how he felt, she just wanted him to do what she wanted.

Tom saved her on a few occasions, but i expect that from tom because tom clearly has shown he wouldn’t just let someone die on his watch.

the best i got from this episode was they’re both those friends who don’t get along but will if they have a common goal, such as getting the boot/compact back.

But janna never apologizes to tom or gets more attached to him because of this, tom i don’t feel has grown more attached to janna because he never talks about her much again.

he spends more time texting his gf, this episode just doesn’t show off any underlying chemistry between them because there doesn’t feel like any real bond happened outside of them working together for their item and nothing more.

Janna never says sorry to him or anything, they cut after they leave.

So they fight, they try and get their stuff by working together without really settling their fight, and that’s it.

marco and star had episodes dedicated to helping tom and worrying for him and talking about their relationships with him and showing there was a connection involved there that felt loving and sweet.

and i’m being told THIS is the couple with serious underlying chemisty, and there is none tom had with star or marco.

really?

i think it might be a case where the fandom has gotten so attached to fanon content they believe it to be canon. cause the fandom was head over heels for all the jantom content since s1 that they HAD to make it canon because it was a popular crackship everyone supported.

But the show’s display of how the characters would actually interact don’t support it.

but the fandom is so attached to this fanon version, they believe that that’s the actual canon one.

And don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of fanon content i prefer too, but i know it’s fanon. Even if i think it would’ve fit way better with the series then what we actually got.

and it makes sense too, because janna usually is ooc in most jantom stuff, tom too sometimes.

either tom is portrayed as stupid, like TOO stupid, or janna becomes more like a tsundere.....which is not her character.

s4 did give her something in saying she does care about people underneath it all, but she’s still usually well....rude and hard edged. And i don’t think this concept was explored enough to have this tsundere version make sense with how she is in the series.

janna isn’t a tsundere, she’s kinda a “I don’t care what i do i just do it” trickster character who on occasion does things that help people and possibly cares despite her actions to marco being......yeah.

and again, this would be ok in fanon crackship work, go wild.

i just get annoyed people think this accurately portrays her character and is evidence they should’ve dated. When it’s a fan version and doesn’t really fit her in the series.

it can def be a thing you wish the show had done with her character instead of what they did, but not as evidence for the series itself.

this is nothing knew though, crackships that people link to theories and speculation of relationships that get popular happen all the time. I mean look at the owl house these days, Bosha bullies willow but they’re a popular ship due to theories about bosha having a secret crush on her, there’s even one going around about amity’s mom and eda being crushes in high school and dating and everything that’s popular from what i can tell.

and these are not wrong of course, just remember not to take them seriously, sometimes your ideas won’t line up with the shows, and you just gotta remember that.

The jantom relationship the fanon portrays them as doesn’t work with the canon, that’s just how it is. They wouldn’t work in canon and the fanworks are in the end, fan ideas.

jantom is just a popular one, though it’s popularity only happened from riding off of starco and more surface level looks at the characters.

honestly i think it gets TOO much attention for what it is, i would much rather see people explore kellco or tomco or even jarco more frankly because there were underlying ideas there that those relationship would help the characters involved.

like jeez we get several of these interesting relationships exploring self help and betterment and moving on but we want the characters who don’t offer up any of this and don’t care much for each other at all to get together?

Tom doesn’t need janna, she offers nothing for him or his development whereas marco and star did by being supportive friends who helped him deal with his problems and self loathing (When they weren’t ruined by the writers)

And janna is not a character with development, so there’s nothing tom can offer her outside of selfish needs that janna could easily get without tom ANYWAY because she does it all the time.

she kinda works just fine as an independent character, tom needs a supportive relationship, and janna doesn’t provide that nor does she have a reason to need a relationship that isn’t her friends.

you didn’t need jantom, and frankly i think shoving in a romance between them last minute would’ve been even worse so i’m happy it’s not there.
