Word count: 1.3k (not very long because it’s my first fanfic and I’m scared)

“So, this is Pickering.” Shawn said, gesturing to the road in front of him with one hand, while the other still held the steering of his car. “It’s beautiful.” She managed to let out while admiring the view in front of her. “Mhmm. It is.” He agreed. She put her window down to take in the tall trees, well-built houses, and the scent of freshness in the air that made her feel at peace, while Shawn couldn’t help but have his gaze on her raven curls that went in every which way, and the smile on her face. That very smile that he would kill for.

He was in the place he called home with the girl who was home to him. Nothing could top the feeling that he was feeling right there. He imagined this same scene in his head so many times, him bringing the girl he loved unconditionally to the place that he grew up in. And if he was being utterly honest, it was nothing like he had imagined. It was in fact, a million times better. He took her hand that was resting on her lap, and gave it a light squeeze. She picked their intertwined hands up and left a small peck to his knuckles. She knew how much this meant to him. He always talked about Pickering, and he told her so many times that when she came to Toronto he would bring her here and show her all the memories of his childhood. Before they knew it, Shawn was pulling up in front of his house and Karen came outside as soon as she heard them enter. She gave her a big, warm hug first and then greeted Shawn who promptly left a kiss on his mother’s cheek.

Disclaimer: I'm typing this without my glasses on so if there's a typo that got around my autocorrect, I do not see it and you don't either 👁

So it's 2am right

Yall were supposed to be in bed hours ago

And you were

But the both of you were just staring at the ceiling

Like you were physically tired but your brains just. Would. Not. Turn. Off.

Shawn gave in first, "Hey honey?" His whispered voice cuts through the darkened room

"Hmm?"

"Oh good, I thought you were asleep." The covers start rustling; he's shuffling onto his side

You follow his lead, turning to face him even though the room is dark and you can't see each other, "Nope, can't sleep."

"Any idea why?"

"Nope."

The two of you are silent for a few more minutes. You know him so well that you can make the planes of his face out even in the dark

You break the silence first, "Any ideas on what to do?"

Shawn's silent for a moment, and you figure he left you here for the sleep world, but then he speaks, "I'm really craving those salted dark chocolate cookies with some almond milk."

You smile, of course he's a big baby, "Let's to them. I might be able to teach you something yet."

The two of you jump out of bed and start towards the kitchen in the pitch black

You figured the two of you knew your own home well enough to not need lights until you got to your destination, but then you hear a thump on your left side, followed by Shawn's mumbled, "ow, fuck"

You feel along the wall for the light switch & flick it on

You turn to see shawn holding his nose and flexing his toes against the floor

He's standing stock still, watching you like a deer in headlights, "ran into the wall" his muffled voice comes

You roll your eyes and walk away, continuing your journey to the kitchen alone while shawn gets himself together

The two of you have been living in this home for almost three years, but shawn still manages to run into things

It's either the corner of the bed that terrorizes his toes every morning, the door jam that he forgetd every time he comes home

He swears the couch shifts over to hit him in the knee every time he walks by

And that an extra step gets added every time he trips off of the last one

Shawn finally materializes in the kitchen, still rubbing his nose

"You'd think you'd have the house memorized by now. We've been living here for almost three years"

Shawn scoffs, "no, the house doesn't like me. It shifts around so I run into stuff."

You laugh as you start grabbing bowls and cups to make the cookie dough, "you ran into the wall in a straight hallway, shawn."

Shawn pouts as he gets the dry ingredients from the cupboard, "i thought there was a door there"

You shake your head, wondering how he hasn't managed to actually injure himself with his clumsiness, but also thanking your lucky stars that he hasn't.

You start to turn the oven on when shawn grabs you by the shoulders, tilting his head down to your level

"You gotta kiss my nose. It hurts." He whines

You roll your eyes and start to move away, but shawn tightens his grip, trying to pull you into him

"Noooooooo," he whines, shuffling his bare feet on the floor not unlike a toddler during a tantrum, "you gotta kiss it."

You sigh before turning and pressing a quick peck to the tip of shawns nose, "is that better you giant baby."

Shawn beams, planting a sloppy kiss to your cheek and turning to the ingredients on the counter.

You spend the next while walking shawn through how to make cookies from scratch.

You don't trust him with the sharp knife, so you cut the chocolate bars yourself all while finding off his hands coming in to steal samples

Eventually you fold the chocolate into the cookie dough, form the balls, place them on a rack and into the oven to bake

You're standing on silence, watching the cookies bake in the oven when shawn suddenly turns to you, extending his hand, "May I have this dance."

You furrow your bow, "there's no music?" You question, but slip your hand into his regardless

Shawn pulls you into an empty area of the living room before wrapping you up in his arms and beginning to sway to the nonexistent music

You rest your head on Shawns chest as he starts hunming and it doesn't rske you long before he's gently singing you the songs in your ear

Between the warmth from Shawn's body and the gentle swaying, you can barely keep your eyes open by the time the cookies are ready to come out of the oven

Shawn makes quick work of removing them from the tray and putting them on a plate & covering them with a cake cover, "it'll be fine until tomorrow" he reasons before picking you up bridal style and whisking you off to bed

He gently lays you down before going back into the hall way to cut the lights off

Him running into the wall and cursing again is the last thing you hear before sleep finally takes you
