My dumb hypothesis is that it gives time to the author to write more chapters without readers forgetting or losing interest in the story because they read all at once.

But then again, even if the author turns in all chapters at once, it'd be wiser to release one chapter per week. My only issue with daily pass is that i can't go back and read past chapters.
