What’s the inner experience of obsessions/hyperfixations like for you

Mine are often like, I must take in and integrate/sort Enough knowledge about this thing to get the real, inarticulable core piece of information I want before an unspecified future threat hits. Sometimes it’s a specific threat and sometimes I just expect to have my info sources taken away from me. The whole process is pretty unpleasant but in a thrilling way.

If I’m satisfied with my learning or the threat comes and goes, the interest moves to a mature state, which is usually warm, nostalgic, often quite fuzzy on detail recollection (though I’d be able to quickly research/fill in blanks if motivated.) I think a lot of the forgetfulness is purposeful or even semi-conscious dissociation, I don’t have much tolerance for sharp grabby things in my brain and it’s learned how to blunt the edges

Whoever said poly is just avoidant attachment hasn’t tried actually being avoidant attachment. Because having my notifs full all the time because there’s no natural cutoff point for relationships and I like people too much to ghost but I don’t see much potential for anything serious, but also being busy and having a low ish sex drive and generally disliking attention unless I can use it, is actually very stressful :( I miss being able to say the magic “I have a boyfriend” words

I don’t want to accuse other people who are just trying to figure their world out of culture war and bad vibes, because I am most certainly part of the problem. Also, I’m pretty okay with tumblr and some discords right now. Few know I’m here, shhh ;)
