I am pushing my headcanon that millennium items take up a ton of energy from their users and they need to eat lots of food to compensate which is why a: yugi loves food especially fatty stuff like hamburgers and b: Ryou is slightly underweight because he and yb never figured that one out and so eat intermittently, wondering why it feels like they're starving when they do so.

I also believe this is why mariks favorite food is a pasta dish because the Millennium Stick (tm) makes you crave carbs for the rest of your life. It also explains why Ryou really likes pastries (which provide small bursts of energy and a lot of fat) as well as why Pegasus is constantly snacking on some wine appetizer or another and why Yami Bakura/TKB both eat steak like some kind of rabid hyena. This is all to say that if you put the millennium item wielders in a pizza place after 24 hours of no food there would be no survivors left
