i have been off social media for a while to increase the time i have for work and contemplation. being on social media was noticeably messing with my attention span and the way that i analyzed things, so that pushed my decision to take another break. i also have been connecting more with women locally, working on my plant identification + preserving skills, writing, and spending time with family. if anyone is feeling overwhelmed by social media, i fully encourage you to take at least a short break. even a few weeks to a month makes a big difference.
i hope everyone affected by hurricane ian is well.

this week has been beyond tiring, but i did get to spend more time than usual in nature (not entirely by choice, but just good happenstance) and that was pretty lovely. i’ll have the weekend to get through some things i’d love to get through with any luck

isn't it lovely that in any other time, any other place, there have existed women like me; women who feel the same senses of dignity, self-worth, and love for other women. it's a special thing to keep in mind.

I love when people are like “I can’t believe you reblogged that despite their user name, icon, bio, and last twenty posts” bc to me my dash is the only part of this website and I’m not slowing down to look at urls you could all be the same person

i have a groundbreaking ideas guys. you’ll want to strap in for this one. what if we solved poverty by never talking about money. what if we made it so nobody could ever talk about their salaries/wages. what if we socially ostracized anyone who pointed out the pay disparities between an entry-level worker and the CEO. what if we shut down food banks, welfare programs, and any form of charity because they shine an uncomfortable spotlight on people’s demoneyed situation. when shall i be receiving my nobel peace prize

describing oppression hardly creates it, and it is a prerequisite to meaningfully fighting against it. making a form of oppression completely unspeakable has never once worked to dismantle it. accusing women of creating our oppression by recording it will never be a pro-woman action.

we studied MBTI in my developmental psych class. there was a textbook with full chapters dedicated to it. IDK if since I graduated it's been scrapped by psychologists, but at least at one point it was considered more than silly fun? i have to wonder if people on the internet not actually studying it has diluted it's validity?
probably so. i know that things like the 16personalities are pretty heavily derided for their test/the way it gives results. i can't speak to its general validity, though my guess would be that it's at least better than some of the other tests going around.
