God I'm really glad to see so many people being fed up with this sites bullshit but I need all of you to understand that what happened to Avery has its origins in the callout posts many of yall have been spreading for years. Like not in some abstract way I mean I can trace the direct origins of these escalating waves of harassment against her to a callout post from just over 2 years ago that she and I and many others were tagged in demanding we condemn some random transfem for the crime of being kinky

You know, historically, one of the big reasons that centralised social media was able to eclipse self-hosted forums so readily is that people wanted to get away from the constant Damoclean peril of the local boy-king flipping his shit and going on a banning spree every time someone mildly criticised him. When folks wax nostalgic for Web 1.0, I'm reasonably certain this isn't what they mean!

Literally never seen a blog get deleted as hard as they deleted predstrogen. Every image on every post regardless of content just gone. Swear to God staff invents new moderation tools for the people they hire to target trans women with. No reasons, No TOS violations, just fucking voiding a random trans woman instead of any of the thousands of hateful TERF or Nazi blogs. Tumblr REALLY hates transwomen despite the fact that transwomen carry this fucking site.

So usually when an imaginary friend is a real thing in a story, it’s either a demon or a ghost or some supernatural boogeyman that probably wants to eat the kid they’ve befriended (Mama, a couple of the Paranormal Activity movies), or “imaginary friends” are just treated as a real thing in the setting, and if a child just thinks hard enough they can manifest a friend into existence (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Happy).

And somewhere in the middle is an area where the imaginary friend in question is real and they are supernatural, but they aren’t malevolent, and they aren’t entirely honest about what they are. Like maybe they’re a fairy or a god or some kind of boggle from mythology, but they just got caught by a six year old and they don’t have time to get into it, so they just go “…Yes. I’m your imaginary friend. We haven’t met. How do you do.” And then they stick around because they do love this kid, and if you’re a boggle from mythology in the modern day good food is really hard to come by.

And at some level. That’s what I think Hobbes is.

Matt saying there's no bigotry in the moderation team, and replying to people with "report harassment here!" is honestly so laughable to me cuz when I was known as trans-mom, I'd spend multiple hours a day talking to young trans people on the receiving end of harassment because their reports never went anywhere. From 2014 to like 2020 I spent a sizeable chunk of every day coming to this web site and having private conversations with kids and adults alike struggling with depression and dysphoria, which was often times really pushed to their limits by harassment campaigns by terfs and transphobes in general. This is how I first got popular, not silly meme posts, not smutty stories, I gained my popularity and my nickname of "mom" cuz I sat down and had to be the needed outlet of help and advice cuz Tumblr staff never helped trans people. The only real reason I stopped being so helpful and vocal is because by that point so many fake screencaps of me and fake call outs of me had generated so much hate I just could not navigate my activity or inbox anymore. I was there helping people with harassment but I myself was not able to figure out what to do when I was getting hatemail sent every hour, what I was supposed to do when nameless throwaway blogs suddenly had my dox and deadname (which I haven't used in over a decade), reports did nothing then, reports do nothing now. Matt just pointing people to report harassment is ridiculous, staff hates trans people. They always have.

Its absolutely no coincidence that the people being sent baseless sexual assault accusations against predstrogen have, from what I've seen, been young transmascs.

The terfs behind the harassment campaign are so brazenly trying to prey on anybody they reckon might have any transmisogynist tendencies and are trying to use that to sow discord in the trans community. They see transmasculine people as potential avenues for recruitment (and eventual detransition) and it's extremely fucking important that the people being sent these anons do not fall headfirst for the bait. They want you to go 'uh oh, guess trans women are sex pests after all' and that to stick with you and fester, and turn that seed of prejudice into the continued harm of transfem people.

If you want to be a meaningful ally to transfem people right now you have to be vigilant for this shit, and correct it where you see it. If you think being used as an angle of recruitment by bigoted harassment is gross, imagine how it would feel to be the damn focus of the harassment.
