No better time than now.
I’m a runner. Not a serious runner. Not a good runner. Just a runner. I’ve ran two marathons and both times after each marathon I took a long break. Partly to rest but mainly, well I’m not sure why. Maybe to enjoy life a little, you know? Have a couple of beers, some wings and pizza. And each time I wait for that magical moment or special time in life to start training again.
After running the Calgary Marathon in late May, I said I would start training again in July after my 50th birthday. Well that didn’t happen. At my party I said that I would start training the following week. Well that didn’t happen either. Then I said I would start at the beginning of August. Guess what? Same thing.
So then I said that I would celebrate 50 for a month and resume running. Nope. The next start date was the beginning of September and when the beginning of September came and went I said after the football draft. Are you starting to see the pattern yet?
The good news is that I’m now ready. To quote the Dixie Chicks I am Ready to Run. And tomorrow September 28 will be the day. I’m choosing that date because my mom would have been 89 tomorrow. So thanks mom. And Happy Birthday.

Birthday #49
Thanks to each and everyone of you from near and far who took the time today to make me smile with your messages, emails, and texts. I can't forget the four people who wished me a Happy Birthday via their voice; my 3 beautiful girls and my physiotherapist Mohammad. And he only knew because I asked if making me cry was a nice thing to do to a guy on his birthday. After a wonderful dinner of spaghetti and homemade meatballs, (my first time making them ever, sad as that is to say.) I did however, ace the test as the girls ate them. Thanks to big brother Laurie-Billy for the ground beef! Watching the Phillies beat the Pirates was great dessert. So was the Haagen Daas ice cream. Next up was a wonderful 15 minute ice bath for my foot, just so I can get up and run in a 10k race tomorrow. Tomorrow is the Eskimos game with Ryley, and I'm looking forward to my first game in a decade and Ryley's first ever. Good night to all, and all the best to the rest of my 40's!!

As much as I love it, it sometimes drives me crazy. Can't tell you how many times I've had to defend myself over comments made in general about nothing in particular. I need a box that says, "As much as you feel the need to comment, don't." I didn't ask for your opinion. If I did, I would have worded my sentence differently. I'm a high school graduate, I know how to do that.

You have no idea how happy I am knowing that I wasn't the DJ for this wedding. At first I thought this was a goof. Nope. I've seen brides come down the aisle to all kinds of music. I've never seen one "walk" down the aisle to this. Until today.
