From today’s Cool Doji Danshi event. Finally all 5 were on stage together!
From the cast and fans’ tweets, I gathered that it was a very funny event. And apparently Chiaki is going to appear on the Cool Doji Danshi drama?? He didn’t tweet about it but I saw many fans mentioning that! I’ll be waiting for more info because I don’t understand what exactly he’s gonna do in the drama. There’s already a drama going on, with actors. Is he gonna join them? I dunno. We’ll see. As one fan mentioned - I’ve also noticed that on his Twitter info he wrote ‘actor’ and not ‘voice actor’. I’ve always wondered why. Are we getting closer to getting the answer to that??
Also, on one segment they were asked: Who’s the cutest person? [x]
And their answers were:
Chiaki: “Uchiyama-san”
Ucchi: “Chiba-kun”
Ume-chan: “Chiba”
ChibaSho: “Umehara-san ♡ "
Makonyan: "Chiaki ♡ ”
Yes, Makonyan. Good job. Now please, PLEASE, do a BLCD together, I’ve been begging for ages. Please. With ChibaSho too. With either one of them, or both of them. Please and thank you. I’ll keep waiting~ ;*
P.S
I was losing my shit over those photos of Chiaki in an overall *___*

I’m so glad someone already uploaded a snippet from yesterday’s Cool Doji Danshi event! And from the segment I wanted to see the most!
I can finally understand the subject everyone were talking about! So Chiaki tweeted a photo of all of them, and him & Ucchi were holding their drawings, and he said something about a cat and a kitten, but while checking the tag during the event, all the comments were saying something about a mouse? A mouse and a cat. And I was confused. Well, not anymore, now I get it ^_^
So basically, they were playing a shiritori game of drawings (in which the players are required to draw a word which begins with the final kana of the previous word). So Makonyan was the first one, he had to draw something that starts with ‘shi’ so he drew a white flag (shiro hata). Then ChibaSho drew a tanuki. After him, Ume-chan drew a fox (kitsune). Then it happened: Ucchi drew an animal, but it confused everyone: because it looked like it could be either a cat (neko) or a mouse (nezumi). So all the pressure was on Chiaki who was the last one to draw. Luckily he drew a kitten (koneko), so they won the game XD

furuba stage review - part 1?? (casting)
it’s been almost a year since furuba stage last came out, and i was only able to watch it now because i rewatched the anime. do take note that i watched the play without subs and solely relied on my story knowledge to understand the whole thing (they pretty much followed the OG storyline so this isn’t really an issue).
warning: long post ahead!!
ps. all pics are taken from one of the official pvs
the casting
let’s start with the most important aspect of this (or any) play. the casting. and i kid you not, the casting for this is PERFECT.
when i first saw the cast list, i was lowkey in doubt with some characters seeing im somehow familiar with both the story and the actors (and how they play certain roles) but i was proven wrong when i actually watched the whole thing.
ayano christie yoshida (nogizaka46) who played as tohru, did absolutely great! tohru’s formal way of speaking, her gentle and calming vibe, she got it all down. the eye language (is that a thing?) was superb, considering that furuba has a lot of scenes where monologue comes into play.
Tumblr media
Next we have hashimoto shohei (akutagawa - bsd stage, nishinoya - haikyuu engeki, leo - enstars stage) who played as kyo. Initially, i wasnt sure what to expect bc he has a versatile way of acting. but after seeing the true form arc (which i’ll get into detail in a separate post) i thought “yep, he’s perfect. he’s literally kyo in the flesh”. maybe the only thing i didnt particularly like was the fact that his voice tends to go up by a pitch when he screams (which is to say, kyo screams A LOT) but i thought it wasnt rlly an issue seeing that shohei’s voice is naturally high-pitched.
Tumblr media
yuki .. OH GOD YUKI.. i might be a bit biased here because i rlly like naoya kitagawa, but to say that he’s the real life yuki is an understatement. he portrayed yuki with grace and elegance i cannot explain. so to say, he also portrayed tsukasa suou in enstars stage so i know he has a delicate performance, which suits yuki. his supposed intimate scenes literally had me dying because it was well executed. his fight scenes with kyo was amazing as he moved with grace despite being an intense scene.
Tumblr media
i wont be commenting one by one on them as it’ll take forever to finish, so i only talked about the main trio. but here’s some honorable mentions.
kisa’s stage actress, erina kamata (im not so sure abt the name because i can barely find infos about her, correct me if im wrong), did the greatest. despite the young age, she was performing in par with the adults. her scene with hiro which she caught him doing mischief, the emotions whenever she says “hiro-chan”, the voice she did when kisa can barely speak, she did it all perfectly.
Tumblr media
upon scrolling on twitter, i see people talking about ayame portrayed by hiroki nakata and he did not disappoint. he was able to exude ayame’s comedic energy and he did it without looking like a cringe. he was obnoxious, loud, outgoing, literally ayame. im not sure if his parts with shigure and hatori was adlib (esp the “yosh” part), but whether that was adlib or not, it still gave me a good laugh. he also had parts in between scenes that wasnt originally in the story (so im assuming those are adlibs that he had to do for some reason), but he did it with ease and it was perfect nonetheless. (i was too lazy to search for other pvs and this was the only steady shot on him. so in-character right haha)
Tumblr media
—--
so for now, that is it for my furuba stage casting review. i feel like if i put my review on how they did significant scenes, and relationship portrayal, it’ll be a whole ass talk. will be putting that in part 2 if there will be one. thanks for coming to my tedtalk!

Kagura and  The Bridge : an OKIKAGU HINT.
I am going to write a long okikagu sign that has been hinted from the start throughout gintama, it might not be so noticeable but it is definitely significant. That is the connection between Kagura and the bridge. The contents might be old but i never saw anyone really write about this yet so here i go.
Plus is there any lateness to any okikagu hints at all? After all we are on the verge of either cannonness or sinking right now that this is just the perfect time to indulge in some more okikagu hints, right?
(All credit to my good friend and okikagu soulmate : yuuki_cabbage//ig or c10ud10//tumblr - she’s the one who came up with these hints hehehe)
If there is one setting that we can relate Kagura to, much like you can relate Gintoki to Pachinko or Shinpachi to Otsu-chan, it is Kagura to the bridge. Why do I say this?
This entry is not in chronological order, but it will build up to a perfect okikagu hints at the end (i guess?)
1.       Kagura will go to the bridge, whenever she’s feeling conflicted, sad and lonely. This is seen during valentine day episode (203) and the cellphone episode (230). But more than so, we can see it earlier in gintama ending 14 (Wo Ai Ni), where we can see the whole ending of Kagura walking alone, feeling lonely at night, where she ends up at the bridge in the end. This signify that the bridge is where she usually will be during her time of sadness and loneliness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2.       In both cases (Valentine Day and Cellphone episode) she has thrown off things off the bridge. Namely her chocolate and the broken yorozuya cellphone strap of hers, which are a set of 3. She has thrown it off as if wanting to get rid of the feelings that’s burdening her. It shows that she felt by throwing the things down the river, the flows of water will wash away her feelings and will make her feel better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.       In the end, she still ends up giving chocolate to Ginchan and Shinpachi. And she did retrieve the cellphone strap and install them on her umbrella.
Tumblr media
Now to the Okikagu hints.
Okay you all know where this is going. But before I even go there and state the obvious, let me bring you back to the 16th opening of gintama, Beautiful Days by Okamoto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the first 3 shots we got is Ginchan with the yorozuya building as background, Shinpachi with his Kodokan Dojo as background, and what? Kagura and the bridge as background! Wow what a shock right. This for me is such a huge sign, which likened the importance of the bridge to Kagura. Yorozuya Ginchan building and the Kodokan Dojo are respectively home for both Gintoki and Shinpachi. But Kagura got the bridge as background? Damn that’s such a huge sign.
So now we have established the importance of the bridge to Kagura right? You with me so far?
Now! Up to the obvious Okikagu hint, which we all already know about by now.
1.       Kagura went to the bridge that day, because she is feeling conflicted and sad. We have already established this connection. The bridge is the usual place where she will find solace, or some kind of peace during her time of sadness. And guess who shows up? Out of nowhere?
Tumblr media
I don’t think so.
Tumblr media
At this point, Sougo must have knows that Kagura is feeling sad, maybe because he was too. We know that they always seems to know how to find each other, like how Kagura found Sougo sad and alone during the moment of Shinsengumi disbandment (and claimed that she was just taking a walk), or when she found him in the park during the Rokkaku incident.
So their meeting wasn’t at all coincidence, if not anything, Sougo knew Kagura would be there at the bridge, and he is purposefully come and meet Kagura (to say goodbye)
2.       Okay ready your hat because this is big, Kagura did throw Sougo off the river! Huahahaha, sound familiar? Because that’s what she will always do, she throws the things (or person) which making her feel conflicted into the river, maybe in hope of washing away her feelings.
Tumblr media
3.       But as always, she went back after it, which she did to Sougo too, because no sooner than that she herself joined him in the river for a (full blown? Well no really) fight. This is where they fought and making that beautiful promise of not losing to anyone else.
Tumblr media
Bonus:
Kagura and Sougo was smiling, a lot after that, who made you guys smile like that huh? Like you can literally read Kagura’s sadness but in the end she smiled so prettily like she’s content, and of course, Sougo too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More BONUS:
1. Kagura and Sougo’s reunion where they reminisce their promise <3
Tumblr media
2. Sougo agreeing to Kagura like an old married couple <3
Tumblr media

I'd love your thoughts on Gintsu once you read the new gintama chapter. I was certain that the ending would be "things going back to what they used to be" but now with T's death, well I'm sad but I also think going back to normal is not an option anymore. So maybe we'll have canon ships in the end.
Hoo boy, the last Gintama chapter was certainly a thing that happened.
I want to be honest here, I really really really dislike the fact that Takasugi had to die this way.
Like, I already hate “redemption equals death” trope as it is, but being forced to watch for several long chapters how Takasugi was tortured, how he was torn apart and then consumed by Utsuro only to be killed off by Gintoki himself? That’s just such a gruesome and tragic fate and it’s so jarring to see this happen after Gintoki promised that he would save Takasugi too.
So yeah, Takasugi really didn’t deserve any of this and while the death scene itself was very dramatic, heavy, dark and well done, I just disagree with Sorachi’s decision to kill off Takasugi after he has experienced so much growth as a person during the last story arcs.
Which leads us to the next point - will Taka’s death change Gintama’s status quo and will we finally get some well-needed character development and relationship development from the rest of the cast?
Well, The thing is Takasugi as a character always was an outside force - he heavily influenced the main plot but he was never present during the “slice of life” Gintama segments and outside of Joui 4, Kiheitai and Utsuro nobody in the main cast even knew him as a person. So him being gone won’t affect someone like Shinsengumi guys or Nobume or Otose.
However, his death must affect Gintoki, Zura and Sakamoto. These three dumbasses have to stop running away from the relationships and responsibilities they have and finally have a reality check.
If after this horrible death we are going to get another Be Forever Yorozuya style ending where Gintoki and the rest will pretend that nothing has happened and everyone will just resume their old lives while being completely unaffected by these horrible events, I will be livid.
Status quo needs to be challenged and the main cast has to experience some real change and growth. Otherwise Takasugi’s death will be a pointless development which happened just because Sorachi needed some drama for the grand finale before ending it off with the usual “and then they all lived happily ever after and stayed as same old friends forever and ever”. And I truly believe that this would be the most unsatisfying and cheapest way to end this story.

Understanding the relationship between Takasugi and Gintoki
This is gonna be a long one, so please bear with me.
So from the very beginning of the series, we’ve been trying to understand the entire dynamic of these two complex characters, Takasugi Shinsuke and Sakata Gintoki. Up until the Tendoshu plot began unraveling, we’ve seen Takasugi as the primary antagonist. The trope is fairly easy to understand- two characters who completely contrast each other- we have Gintoki, a person who has a positive outlook on life, and forges relationships on the way. Shinsuke on the other hand, is focused on the entire “I will destroy this world” complex, and makes more enemies than friends (apart from his loyal comrades in the Kiheitai). Yet, these two share some very compelling similarities- the love they share for their teacher, and protecting what really matters to them. Having the same purpose, even if they carry out their way of fulfilling it differently (we’ll get to this later.)
If we examine their relationship from their childhood, we can see that they do share a sense of rivalry- especially on Takasugi’s end, counting the wins/losses. However, they do respect each other- their teacher is instrumental in instilling this realisation in them, that perhaps they aren’t that different. Katsura on the other hand acts as the mediator between them, because he can see both of their POV’s since he has personally experienced loss as well.
Fast forward to the time when Shouyou sensei gets arrested, and the three of them lose their father/teacher/guardian figure. We see two different reactions:
Gintoki, one of sensei’s earliest students, can immediately understand that Shouyou knows the implications of being arrested. He does try his best to prevent his sensei from being handed over to the Naraku, but seeing his teacher willingly leave, he can tell something’s up.
Takasugi, also having tried his best, but unable to save Shouyou from being taken. Takasugi is someone who was disowned by his family, and craves the intimacy he gets from being like a son to Shouyou. Seeing his teacher stripped away from him instills a huge amount of anger in him.
Fast forward to the Joui war, we have Takasugi, Gintoki and Katsura fighting for the soul purpose of avenging their sensei. In comes Sakamoto, and the Joui4 is born. Together they fight in what ends up ultimately being a losing battle. But one thing we need to understand here is that they aren’t fighting against the amanto for taking over the country- they’re fighting to get what matters to them back, and that’s Shouyou sensei.
At the end of the battle, we have Oboro giving Gintoki a choice:
Kill your teacher (and mind you this was the first time they saw him after he was arrested)
or, kill your comrades (Takasugi, Katsura)
Like I’ve said before, Gintoki understands sensei in a way that’s different from the other two- he knows what it is that sensei would want. He knows that above everything else, sensei’s dying wish would be to see his students alive. So he is burdened with the task of killing the man who raised him, fathered him, loved him. Takasugi doesn’t understand this- he can’t fathom why Gintoki would want to kill sensei, because he knows sensei mattered to Gin more than anyone else. The fact that he chooses his comrades over his teacher, is the point where their animosity begins.
Now coming to the Kiheitai’s debut, 20 years after the Joui4 went their separate ways. Mind you, we’ve seen Takasugi once before, when he attempted to assassinate the Shogun with Gengai’s robots. His efforts to destroy the Bakufu are ruined by the Yorozuya+Katsura’s joui faction. Here is where we see the “I want to destroy this world that took our Sensei away from us” story begin.
Takasugi continuously attempts to start a civil war within the Bakufu government- we can see this in the Shinsengumi Crisis Arc and the Baragaki arc as well. In between, we have the alliance between Takasugi and Kamui (Odds and Evens, ep 215)
In the Courtesan of a Nation arc, Takasugi slips into the jail where Tokugawa Sadasada is being kept. In a way, he avenges his teacher by killing the man responsible for what happened to Shouyou. In the end, we get a scene where Gintoki and Takasugi cross each others paths, but it’s only Gintoki who turns back. Gin still shows a slight bit of concern for his old friend- he knows the path he is on will only lead to his own destruction. Takasugi has no reason to turn back, because he still sees Gin as the man who made that wrong choice all those years ago.
Now we have Takasugi going in for the kill- allying with the Hitotsubashi faction to destroy the current regime in Edo, Kamui alongside him. And then, using the faction as a means to get to, and kill Tokugawa Shigeshige.
And now, we have a full fledged fight between Gintoki and Takasugi. Quite a considerable amount of their relationship is revealed to us- this is actually where we first see why this animosity exists to begin with.
Battered, the two part ways yet again with their respective Yato companions (Gintoki, Kagura; Takasugi, Kamui).
In the Farewell, Shinsengumi arc, the main Tendoshu/Utsuro/Altana plot is revealed. Gintoki is now aware of what his sensei really was. He knows that Utsuro is the man he will have to kill- the man who gave, and stole his beloved Shouyou sensei.
By the time the decisive battle on Rakuyou has begun, Takasugi is also aware of Utsuro. At this point, Gintoki and Takasugi share the same goal. Destroying Utsuro, and putting an end to his scheme of destroying the Earth. the arc ends with a Joui4 reunion, and again, the two part their ways.
The next time they meet, they’re on the same fighting side.
With the war done, we have the time skip (2 years later)
By now, Takasugi is fully able to understand Gintoki, and why he chose to save his comrades. He finally forgives him, and now the two try to save Shouyou sensei yet again- using the heart of Utsuro.
Gintoki is Takasugi’s alter ego- he is the part of Takasugi that would have done the same, 20 years ago. More than anything, Takasugi is fighting with himself. He’s fighting with the part of him that would also have chosen to save his comrades over Shouyou sensei all those years ago. Post the time skip he knows why Gintoki made that choice, because he himself faced death, only to have Shouyou sensei save him yet again (through Oboro’s ashes).
To sum it all up, we can split their relationship into  parts-
1.      Childhood rivalry
2.      Joui war camaraderie
3.      Post Joui war animosity and hatred
4.      Protection (Gintoki) vs. Revenge and destruction (Takasugi)
5.      Understanding
6.      Revival of brotherhood
If you managed to get to the end of this, thank you so much for reading!!!

Takasugi Shinsuke and Sakata Gintoki Foe and Friend Forever
I just read a precious analysis of Gintoki and Takasugi’s fight in the shogun arc from the Chinese Gintama fandom by 朽木枯檀 on baidu and somehow I just had this overwhelming urge to translate it so that the English Gintama fandom would be able to read this person’s awesome thoughts.
I asked for his permission and he said he’d be glad to share it with you guys. (Link to the original: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3263545528?pid=60893242238&cid=60916714531#60916714531)
So, here we go.
(Just a warning before you actually start reading: my English isn’t close to being good. So please bear with me.)
Pics come from gintama 519
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I wouldn’t even have recognized this as a human’s face if it weren’t for the ear and the wavy hair. After seeing this people might be heartbroken for Gintoki, but actually you don’t have to feel sorry for any one of them. Although this seems like a cruel, rip-your-heart-out scene, this is, in fact, probably one of the most touching scenes of gintama 519. Takasugi must’ve really trusted Gintoki to the extent of confiding all his hatred and pain to him, and wanting Gintoki to entrust him in return with all his pain and burdens that he’s been accumulating all these years. Takasugi vented all his pain and hatred on Gintoki, while Gintoki was also able to unleash all of his sufferings on Takasugi. No words were needed but the tacit acknowledgement and recognition that this was the moment to seal and leave behind their painful pasts once and for all, begin anew, and thus they were ready to shoulder each other’s burdens. You don’t believe it? Just look at them. They never avoided each other’s attacks. If it really was a life-or-death duel between the two, why didn’t they choose to dodge each other’s punches? That’s right. No matter where the attack came from, there was no need to dodge. All they really needed was to accept the other’s punch and throw back their own in return. Two shares of hared, two shares of pain, two shares of inexplicable, interminable, imperishable feelings that would’ve been sealed within themselves forever finally found the passage out in each other. Because they had each other.
Takasugi and Gintoki are not killing each other,
They are saving each other.
“For me, it’s you. ”
“And for you, it’s me.”

Ah can you tell us what gintoki like about hijikata? I just read the post about what hijikata likes about gintoki and I'm curious about the reverse. Thanks for being so good to us and sharing all your thoughts! They're such a pleasure to read!
//cracks knuckles
You, my friend, have just asked a great question. See, Gintoki and Hijikata mirror each other in a lot of ways. They’re both thorny boys and it’s canon where they’re portrayed as similar and they can even do things in tandem on a moment’s notice like they’re reading each other’s minds. As I’m sure I mentioned in the other post, they have a lot in common.
But Gintoki is different in that he can look at a pile of Sadaharu’s shit and think it’s better than him. Like damn, Sadaharu, that’s one nice shit, you’ve outdone yourself, wow, impressive. Because how much Gintoki hates himself is profound and goes so deep into his psyche that it’s hard to convince him he’s worth anything at all.
So, give him Hijikata. Hijikata is his. He is Hijikata’s. They’re together in a relationship he doesn’t just think he doesn’t deserve, he knows he doesn’t deserve it. But Hijikata also understands Gintoki in a way no one else can because of how similar they are and that’s huge for them, it’s what Gintoki needs – understanding. Someone that doesn’t dig into what afflicts him, but accepts him as he his and is there for him even when he doesn’t ask for it because let’s be real, he’ll never openly ask for it. He could be bleeding head to toe, crying, missing a limb, and he’ll say he’s fine. Asking for anything, well, that’d be troubling someone else and he’s already enough trouble as it is, he can’t ask more of someone when they already have to put up with him.
What does Gintoki like about Hijikata? Every-fucked-up-angry-mayonnaise-loving-smoking-otaku-thing about him.
I could go on and on about the physical traits of Hijikata that Gintoki finds attractive and all the little things he does that pulls Gintoki further in, but the biggest thing is that Hijikata puts up him. Gintoki probably expects Hijikata to realize he’s with a piece of shit and leave him. A lot of Gintoki likely thinks Hijikata must be fucking crazy to want him or spend time with him. Gintoki will like that Hijikata stays – even if he feels he doesn’t deserve him – and once Hijikata becomes something Gintoki wants to protect, it’s game over. Gintoki will doggedly devote himself to protecting what’s important to him, as we’ve seen, and though Hijikata is strong on his own and doesn’t necessarily need protecting, that won’t slow Gintoki down at all.
If Hijikata stays with him, there won’t be anything Gintoki won’t like. Slathering mayonnaise on everything? God, that’s disgusting, but it’s Hijikata, so he’ll think of him every time he sees a bottle of mayonnaise or mayonnaise on food anywhere. Literally any flaw Hijikata has, Gintoki will like in some way, even the really annoying ones like how Hijikata is quick to anger and snaps a lot. They have an understanding of each other that they don’t really need to talk about for it to grow deeper. Gintoki will do something self-destructive and Hijikata will recognize it because hey, Hijikata has been self-destructive before, too. They might now always handle it the best, they’ll blow up at each other and yell and fight and sometimes throw punches and kicks, but then they’ll get over it and be fine again. Sometimes they need to explode at each other and get it out, that’s a form of communication for them. There are times Gintoki will do something really, really fucked up and Hijikata will forgive him for it while also telling him how stupid he is for thinking he could drive Hijikata away so easily.
They’re a push and pull. One pushes the other away, the other pulls him right back in. When they both push, they fight, then they both pull. Gintoki will like everything about Hijikata, even the things he doesn’t like, because Hijikata stays with him and Hijikata also gives him a happiness he doesn’t think he deserves. They have a respect for each other because they see parts of themselves in one another – thorny boys, remember? Looks play a part in it, Hijikata is attractive, absolutely he is, but looks aren’t what will get Gintoki. It’s the emotional aspect of it that will snare Gintoki and get him on the hook into a deeper relationship, it’s the emotional stuff that will get through to him and attempt to penetrate the thick and formidable mental barrier of self-hate that he can’t break through on his own.
They get each other, Hijikata knows what Gintoki needs even when Gintoki himself has no idea and vise versa. So, I’m confident in saying that Gintoki likes Hijikata for everything Hijikata is, inside and out.

Hi! It's the anon from before who asked you those GinHiji questions! Thank you so much for answering, and reading it just made me realize how awesome it'd be to listen to you rant for paragraphs on end on why Hijikata and Gintoki are so perfect together because the PASSION in your reply -- was friggin' beautiful. So thank you very much for answering... and if you ever feel like it, just write a loooong rant on the best pairing (GINHIJI) out there. I'd definately read it. :P
Hello! I’m sorry for taking my time on this one, but I really wanted to wait until I was in the right mood to give you the answer you deserved and since I’m being a sentimental piece of shit today, THE TIME HAS COME! So, gather around //cracks knuckles// and listen to me rant //sips drink// about my OTP.
GinHiji isn’t just a pairing to me. And that has a lot to do with Lavi, but it’s the same for on my own. When it comes down to it, I really just love these characters to the very depths of my soul. I hear songs on the radio and I think of them, I write about them all the goddamn time, I can’t really seem to stop, and the influx of things that come to me on the daily is both profound and pretty amazing. They inspire me and I guess that’s a backhanded way of saying Sorachi does — WHICH OF COURSE HE DOES HE’S GORI-SAN ASIUDIFOJ;ASKLDFA.
I love the dynamics of their characters in the anime and manga, how they’re portrayed, you know? It’s so subtle, but so there in your face that it’s impossible to miss. No one can tell me that they aren’t canon and it’s not even that I’m some deluded fangirl making my favorite characters gay because they’re hot and I want them to go at it like rabid bunnies. They’ve got some serious chemistry and I swear Sorachi secretly ships them, I’m convinced! There’s just too much going on with them!
I mean, how many people can say their OTP danced together, complete with a rose, in canon?

And have you noticed how no matter what scene they’re in together, they ALWAYS end up next to each other? Or touching each other in some way? Or touching each other when there’s no expressed reason to do so? Or getting really up close and personal with each other all the time?
Because I sure as hell have.

And let’s not forget this absolute gem from the manga, look at where Gintoki’s left hand is:

And the cherry blossoms episode ((125 for those of you who are unfamiliar)) was packed so full of GinHiji moments I got whiplash! I literally wheeze through most of that episode because their interactions are just golden and look at all this stuff!
Pouring each other drinks:

Oh, hello, let’s just have them get right up close for no reason and blush for the obvious reason:

And then later look over their shoulders at each other in a silent salute to one another before taking a shot:

All of it ending in a way that just makes you think Gintoki woke up, saw Hijikata, pulled his drunk ass down, and stumbled them to a love hotel to finish the night right:

And don’t even get me started on episode 48 where all they did was stalk each other and keep running into each other and get sorta freaky in the bathhouse together. Just do not. I’ll never shut up. This post is already pretty long EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN’T TOUCHED ON A LOT OF THE THINGS I WANT TO SAY ASIUDFH;AIJSLDF SO I’LL JUST WRAP IT UP WITH A LOT OF CAPS BECAUSE THESE TWO ARE REALLY JUST MADE FOR EACH OTHER, OKAY? THEY COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER AND WHEN THEY FIGHT TOGETHER HOLY SHIT LOOK OUT

It’s really sort of hard to put into words just how much I love these two. Not just as a pairing, but as individuals. They’ve been through so much shit and can commiserate with each other for it while remaining strong on their own and becoming stronger when they’re together. They offset each other perfectly, Gintoki with his ‘laziness’ and Hijikata with his rigid and strict work ethic. Similarly, Hijikata being much more serious while Gintoki offsets that with his ‘goofball’ demeanor. They come full circle for me. Each interaction has this underpinning of tension, which is something I try and emulate with my writing. There’s just something always there, right there under the surface, and it’s right in your face if you just watch/read the parts they’re in together.
So, there, a rant to scratch the surface on my feelings for GinHiji pffff I hope you enjoyed and that this was something of what you were looking for!
