I dare say, of the two, Carol got the better deal.

A giggle just burst out of me when Yon-Rogg opened the door only wearing that little kimono-thing. What a way to introduce your villain.

I suspect he will eventually get a sort of redemption story or at the very least something more complex than pure bad guy. The whole Kree empire seemed like a dig at the western world’s obsession with converting other cultures to their ways or get destroyed if they refuse. Yon-Rogg is basically just a more intense alien version of Steve who has been conditioned to see his culture as the “good” culture (He keeps calling the Skrulls terrorists. That sure reminds me of something…). Obviously nazis are actually bad and Steve eventually saw the errors of his government. Yon-Rogg isn’t there yet, if he ever will be.

If they ever go that rout, they might bring up that in Kree culture “pinks” like Yon-Rogg (and Mar-Vel and Korath) are pretty heavily discriminated against by blue Kree like Ronan. They can make a career in the military but you won’t ever find them at the very top of society because they are seen as “impure”. Might be why Yon-Rogg had to give his blood to Carol. She sure as hell wasn’t going to get fancy pure Kree blood.
