…So. Wait. Was he really just being allowed to run off, easy as that? No surprise traps or attacks? A bit unexpected, maybe Kagu was just weaker in the current moment than he wanted to let on? Maybe he was the one who couldn’t handle a fight!

… Teddie wants to think that, but he’s honestly not so sure of it. Either way, he’s learning to at least try ignore most of those taunting words, he can be mad about those later, as he turns away to le–

“Huh…?”

Stopped in his tracks. He shouldn’t stick around if he doesn’t need to, he should leave, don’t listen to this guy, all that!

But something was struck, with those last few comments.

“Th-that’s not true! You… You don’t know what you’re talking about, and I don’t wanna hear it!”

He says that, and even turns away again, but… He hesitates, too. Thoughts occupied, now. Too much on the mind at once, but staying here won’t do any favors for him.

“I don’t know what I’m talking about?”

Oh, he’s struck a nerve...  How it amused him so, why- Kagutsuchi couldn’t help but CACKLE.  His laughter is cacophonous, ‘INFECTIOUS’, in the sense that the shadows are influenced to join in on the chorus.   though, they don’t show themselves.  

“My, oh my... Live in blissful ignorance if you so desire. It doesn’t change the reality of the situation you’re in”

“Teddie’s pretty much human then!”

He starts,  a distorted imitation of.. Chie Satonaka’s voice, echoes. Disembodied,  an auditory illusion. 

“You don’t wish to acknowledge things that are bound to be... I’d say that’s very human in nature.  Go, then. LOOK AWAY from your truth.  I’ll be here, should you wish to escape it further.”

In no state to do anything like last time…. So he says, but Teddie wasn’t taking that as is. He keeps it to himself, but he just knows there’s a hidden ‘for now’ added onto that.

Still, what to do now… even if this guy appears weakened compared to the past, he’d rather not get into a fight all on his own, when no one even knows their little mascot bear had gone into the TV world again. And the rest of the team might have ideas on what to do about this!

…Maybe– he could just leave? A fight may not be a great idea, but he’s willing to launch an attack or two if Kagu tries to stop him from leaving. The exit isn’t that far, after all…

He just needs to… try to sneak a bit of distance between them before he can turn and book it. Just.. take a step back from time to time or something.

While also snapping about another frustration about this situation.

“Why do you still have to try looking like a rip-off of me?! You don’t even do it right!!”

A pause...  A realization, - after all this improvisation, well...  Those threats, those FEARS- well. While it was true, he would rather that wildcard didn’t get involved, the malevolent entity couldn’t help but see an opportunity in letting this bear go. and thus, he’d state as such.

“... You’re not subtle.”

He begins, making a vague gesture toward Teddie with one of that shadow puppet’s paws. 

“If you wanted to run, You should have just done so, eesh. What an utter disappointment. hiding it behind your hatred for ‘imposters’ and the like, - THAT’S something I already know about!”

A sharp turn,   the vessel’s ‘gaze, pointing back, still.

“...You don’t think you’re capable of fighting me on your own, and you’re oh-so worried about your friends. Go and warn them! Even if I wanted a more.. dramatic reveal. We don’t always get what we want.”

“...After all. You need to feel.. of worth to them, while they’re STILL AROUND , right~?”

his tone remains whimsical, though that venom seeps through- voice accompanied by a feeling that would CLAW at the recesses of one’s mind.

“One day, it’ll just be you. And we’ll meet once again, just like this. Though, I imagine things will go differently.”

That first answer, yep, about what he expected. Still, the mascot did think on it a bit. Taking away what it means to be human… he can’t entirely agree, but selfishness was indeed a part of it, right?

With all that, it made sense that something like Kagu-tsu–… Kagu couldn’t be gotten rid of for good. Even if there was probably more to it than just that.

Regardless, it’s the answer to the second question that seems to confuse him. And that confusion manifests as more frustration.

“How am I supposed to know? We may look similar but we’re beary different beings…! I couldn’t think like you if I wanted to…!”

Basically, he has no actual idea. He just feels like whatever it is can’t be anything good, maybe something alike to last time…? But, that, for now, is pushed aside in favor of a different issue.

“You’re really getting on my nerves…! And– and stop messing with the shadows here!”

A sneer distorts his features,  superficial displeasure, rippling that shadow construct, though that same air remains.  It was OBVIOUS, the being found this to be naught but a game, of sorts. a show, as things always were. And to think this pest had the audacity to make a demand of him, When at such a disadvantage, too.  

...But, for now, the shadows seemingly ‘retreat.’ supposedly snapped out of their brainwashed states, though...This too was just part of the show. They’d be back if this bear attempted anything reckless. Can’t have Narukami getting involved... At least. not like this. Oh, no.. The preperations had yet to be made.

And thus, Selfish desire’s facade continues.

“...Well. Your.. Request has been met, and as for my plans? Well. I’m clearly in no state to do anything like last time, mm? Not that you’d have any reason to believe that.”

Hardly so, his machinations lay out before him, a script waiting to be read aloud, in front of the world- and he was ready.

you aren’t slick about whatever you think you’re hiding. glass shatters in your midst, blood spills, children scream. like some of your friends, your personality of choice is entirely artificial. the difference between you and them is that you can get away with it. you’re unknown, perhaps even to yourself, and your goals are complex and unknown. anyone stupid enough to fall for you is setting themselves up to be frustrated and confused, owing to your being ultimately unknowable. i hope you can find an identity that makes you comfortable.

Wait– he was actually going to cooperate–or at least, somewhat cooperate– with Teddie now? As much as the bear had his doubts about how much he can actually get answered… well, if the opportunity shows itself, he needs to grasp it in his paws!

There’s plenty of questions, most of which he can’t really put words to, but there’s only one that made sense to be the first.

“Well… How did you come back here?”

He’s, truthfully, not expecting much of an answer. Probably something about how there’s always selfish people, or… something like that? But it doesn’t hurt to ask and see.

Before an answer can be given, though, another question is added alongside the first;

“And– And what do you plan to do now?” Something in Teddies tone, this time, the question doesn’t seem to be an outright accusation.

The entity leans back, slighty,  one of the nearby shadows eager to act as an arm rest of sorts,  shaped by the will that PULLED their strings, to begin with. Eyes close, with a light hum, as if thinking over an answer, though; This much was obvious: it was all part of the act... To think the bear had so eagerly taken him at face value.  Just this once.  Fine. He’ll bite. if only a little.

“...Well, The first answer should be pretty obvious. Even to you. Something , something, Will of so-and-so. Inaba remains the same as ever, it seems”

Kagutsuchi snickers. 

"... Even if they’ve improved, You can’t get rid of me without taking away what it means to be human. Not really.”

...A single eye opens once more,  Golden in hue, though, HARDLY as piercing as before.

“As for the latter, well. I suppose I’ll ask you.  What do you think I plan on doing now?”

How the sentiment AMUSED him so. An attempt at seeming above him, above a being that lived within everyone’s hearts. As much as they could choose to deny it. 

“From here, I have pulled the strings of those just like you-  brash, UNYIELDING... sorts. Naught but PUPPETS that bent to my will.  You may know of me, yes. though most will never know I exist.”

Selfish desire pauses,  his presence SUFFOCATING to those who may feel it.- that palpable callous glee.

“While yes, I may not easily manifest within the human world.... Tell me. Who is trapped, truly?”

OH GOSH,, THE OTHER TWO BEARS,, and thus, I condense the asks slightly.  I Imagine a ‘Teddie Tea’, would give Kagutsuchi a vague hint of citrus, though the drink itself would leave no lasting impression on him, after that. No after-taste, no health gained from it, - This comes from the observation of his personality, - and nothing more.   Teddie is a rambunctious sort,  intense-  but to him? that’s.. typical. it’s something he already knew.

Talk about creepy…! And the red fog prompted Teddie to step back a touch, too. He did not want to deal with that stuff again, no thank you! The distortion and damage of the imitation’s appearance, the fog, the laughing and synced-up twisting of the other shadows…

For now attention is focused back to his interrogation!… If it can be called such.

“Hrrrm…” He can’t fully argue the existing thing, he supposed. But this guy was still bad news! And he’s messing this world up again, just going off his manipulation of the other shadows here!

He… chooses to disregard the ego comment. His ego is plenty strong enough! As strong as a real bear, even! In-de-structible!

“…….”

He’s…. not saying anything. It’s terribly clear he wants to, but– does anything he say even matter to this guy?! And what more could he say? Oh, what’s an adorable mascot like him to do about this…?

...The mask is FIRMLY planted on once more,  after one last smirky laugh.  The fear, why, how hilarious it was. but this bear could only give so much in terms of.. Entertainment through fear alone.  The message had been very much conveyed, The LACK of control Teddie had here.

“...Why the long face, hm?  I’ll cooperate.  Why don’t you continue with that.. Interrogation of yours.”

The ‘General’ gives a wave of his paw dismissively, a pout replacing that once-present grin.

 “Can’t say I’ll have , or WANT to give any answers but hey~! You have to improvise where you can. This world’s stage is hardly forgiving toward those who aren’t capable..”

the question was: how long would this last until it bear-dened them both?

If there was a way to alarm the mascot bear, it was that. The way in which this…. thing dropped his act there. Something about the cracking especially unsettled him, almost as much as what laid past those bright gold eyes.

Teddie stood in place, if uneasily so, little ears slightly folded back at the words of this other.

“Th-thats…”

He wanted to snap back about all that, particularly the last part, but the behavior of the other shadows led to the bear trailing off in whatever statement he was about to make.

He’d keep at least some composure for now, as opposed to yelling in frusteration or going into a blind panic, both of which he sort of wanted to do to varying degrees. But only… bearly.

“J-just tell me what you’re doing here!” Probably a pointless demand, and yet he asks anyways.

Observations were made, the body language, the expression, why- This bear was hardly capable of hiding such discomfort,  and with that, came that palpable sadistic glee- a sickening sensation, burning at the back of one’s throat, as he chuckled once more.   That shadow puppet of his contorting unnaturally. The damage spreading, and a deep scarlet fog leaking from it, in turn. 

“..I was simply exaggerating on how LITTLE your input matters.. But this? It’s almost laughable!”

The idle shadows, strung along by Kagutsuchi’s will move in a similar rhythmic fashion, imitating a laughing crowd,  even with how few there were. 

A sigh escapes him, the shadows settle, and so to, does the construct he inhabits.  

“Must an explanation be given for me.. simply existing here? Or is it just that fragile ego being torn at the distortion of your own face?
