I've always wondered.
If we stick to canon Solo Leveling knowing that Sung Jinwoo is immortal (right??), what's he going to do when his wife is dead, his sister has passed away, and like he's got few social connections to stick around for? Oh and the Rulers reminding him again that it's not good for him to keep sticking around Earth any longer.
So Sung Jinwoo hops to another world. Another Earth like planet. And since I'm still on a DC Universe kick, I think you might be able to guess where I'm going with this.
Sung Jinwoo sets up shop. He's still a detective helping solve murders. He thinks this is basically the same Earth as before, minus a few differences. He goes about like how he did before, unrealizing just how evolved technology has become because he doesn't really use it that much. (Wow, what a boomer.)
Things go out of control quickly, not that he realizes it. People NOTICE that this new detective is a suspiciously high rate of solving cases. He's pretty efficient too. Oh and notice how he seems to talk to thin air and the shadows? "He's a meta" is the quick conclusion people draw. "He's trying to stay low key."
"True, imagine what the baddies would try to do if they knew someone could speak to the dead."
"Just imagine what rich people could do. I bet that Bruce Wayne person would pay fortunes to speak to that murdered adoptive son of his."
The Gotham locals keep the secret real quiet. They appreciate the guy. Still, they can't help themselves. Grief hits hard.
Someone approaches him asking if he could help them say a few words to a brother that was just killing in a car accident three days ago on the way to visit family.
Like dominos, more requests starts piling in.
Naturally that's where one Tim Drake with too much time on his hands notices Sung Jinwoo too. He's not yet approached Batman, still hoping that Batman can snap out of his funk, that maybe Nightwing would go back and be the Robin that Batman needs.
Basically give me an AU where Tim gets adopted by Sung Jinwoo instead and everyone's convinced that Sung Jinwoo is trying to hide the fact that he's a meta no matter how much Jinwoo protests otherwise.
Jinwoo was never trained in covert ops after all. Plus he doesn't like fame but he also doesn't mind it. (He's apathetic to it and people's perceptions of him is more accurate way of portraying it.)

At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu. No pics because he has a Do Not Disturb vest and taking pics of strangers is illegal but I need to stress how ON DUTY this animal is. Ears up. Eyes doing Lazer scans of everything. Examining everyone who passes within 10ft like a security guard. Ass planted on her feet. I have never seen a dog with such intense chivalric guardian energy before. He has tiny eyebrows and they are FURROWED with concentration.

I want the “undercover as a couple” trope where they never fall in love, they’re just best friends being silly.
So it’s like, “Dude is that seriously your A-game, how do you ever get laid?”
And trying to gross each other out by eating onions and tuna before kissing.
And nearly blowing the op because one of them slips a hand in the other one’s pants and finds a tiny army man in their underwear.
And playing the most competitive game of gay chicken ever where they’re practically having sex before someone on comms is like, “Uhhh are you gonna stop?” And they’re both like, “NO! I will win this!”
And also the trust from knowing each other’s triggers and boundaries because they’ve seen each other through some Shit Relationships.
So it’s just genuine platonic dudes comfortable in their masculinity and sexuality and friendship.
That is my ultimate idea of an indulgent comfort fic.

The different schools of recent twine-adjacent interactive fiction
This is not a taxonomy; most games (especially those entered into IFComp and the like) will have multiple inspirations from multiple schools. This is an attempt to trace some of the broad tendencies in recent twine games.
The Post-Porpentine School: Porpentine's games were characterized by a fantastical surrealism and a philosophical or literary quality, while being about very personal or intimate topics. Many have elements of horror, oppression, and/or sexuality, and complex but ambiguous worldbuilding. Settings tend toward the dystopian, and many involve the protagonists reaching out for freedom in some way. Story branching is not a priority here but it may be present, and choice mechanics are often used more for aesthetics than for story branching. They tend to be at least moderately long, 30 minutes and up. This is probably the smallest school.
Examples: Porpentine's games (obviously), Solarium, We Are the Firewall, SPY INTRIGUE, Summit, DEVOTIONALIA, Heretic's Hope, Accelerate, BLK MTN, Consciousness Hologram/Universal Hologram, Computerfriend, QueenLash
The Post-Videogames School: The "Videogames" here refers to the book Videogames for Humans, edited by Merritt Kopas, and the games in this school share many characteristics with the games in that book. Alternatively, this could be called the Zinesters school or post-Anthropy school, after the book Rise of the Videogame Zinesters by Anna Anthropy. They tend to be short, less than 15-30 minutes, and tend to drill down on one particular moment or feeling or experience, without the burden of a heavily developed plot or setting. They tend to have hypertext-style choices. Aesthetics might be emphasized or ignored. Many are about mental illness or gender or sexuality, some anecdote from the author's own experiences, a political or social point, or just a quick joke. Many were made by students or for short game jams.
Examples: Most games from the book Videogames for Humans (with the notable exception of Horse Master), Detritus, The Writer Will Do Something, Gender Dysphoria, Time Passed, End of Life Care, Winter in June, Perseids, You Are Jeff Bezos, My Gender Is a Fish, fix it, Let's Talk Alex
The Choice of Games School: Based on the Choice of Games house style, these games use delayed branching as the primary narrative structure. They have character building based on a bevy of stats, heavy character customization including names and pronouns, and many romance options of many genders. Most stories tend to be "genre" as opposed to "literary". Most games are long, more than 2 hours, and have multiple branches and endings. There is little to no concern for aesthetics.
Examples: almost every Choice of Game and most Hosted Games. Fine Felines
The Tumblr School: this school originated in the choicescript diaspora, as many creators were dissatisfied with the terms Choice of Games/Hosted Games imposed on choicescript. Like CoG, they tend to have extensive character customization and romance options, use only end-of-text cyoa-style choices as opposed to hypertext, and are usually "genre" stories. Many are influenced by visual novels and otome games. They can be somewhat more experimental with the branching structure than CoG. Aesthetics are heavily emphasized, and often include character art. These games tend to be very long, and most are still in the development process, with a culture of periodic updates. Most will probably never be "finished".
Examples: Wayfarer, Stay? (partially, also adventure-puzzle), Superstition, A Tale of Crowns, Trigaea, everything on this itch.io page, most things submitted to the interact-if game jam, A Paradox Between Worlds (somewhat)
The Adventure-Puzzle School: These games are all about the systematic mechanics. Many of these games aim at implementing text adventure/parser-like mechanics in Twine, with object-based puzzles and directional movement. Some have more abstract mechanics, or RPG-inspired mechanics, or other types of simulations. They are usually on the lengthier side, but may be short with heavy branching. Aesthetics are not a priority.
Examples: Anything by Agnieszka Trzaska, Open Sorcery, 16 Ways to Kill a Vampire, Erstwhile, Seedship (might be its own sub-school), Beneath Fenwick, Orbital Decay, Voyageur, we, the remainder (also horror)
The Flash Horror School: Alternatively, the post-Nintendo school (for The Uncle Who Works At Nintendo). Like the post-Videogames school, these games tend to be short, focusing on one moment to the exclusion of an extended plot or setting. However, these games aim more directly at the emotions of horror and are less literal/anecdotal. Many have some nods to adventure-like mechanics, with locations and movement and such, but many do not. Aesthetics are highly emphasized.
Examples: the uncle who works for nintendo, my father's long long legs, Bogeyman, a man outside (plus many other games by litrouke), Contrition, Florence, The Waiting Room, Taste of Fingers
(the below are less "schools" exactly, more like broad trends or genres. These do not have a clear lineage like the previous ones.)
The Extended Character Study School: This was a hard school to pin down for me; I had originally called it the Brendan Patrick Hennessy school. They tend to be dialogue-heavy, and choice mechanics are generally used in service of characterization. Unlike the post-Porpentine school, these games tend to have more grounded settings and situations, although supernatural elements are often present. Coming-of-age is a common theme. They usually have strongly defined protagonists without character customization (or revolve around another character), and may or may not have story branching. They are usually at least moderately long.
Examples: Hana Feels, Venus Meets Venus, Birdland/Known Unknowns, Cactus Blue Motel, Will Not Let Me Go, The Master of the Land, Lore Distance Relationship, Pageant/New Year's Eve 2019, You Are SpamZapper 3.1, The Best Man
The Gamebook-CYOA School: This is sort of a catch-all group. Many developers are driven by nostalgia for paper gamebooks or CYOA stories, seeking to emulate those elements in a digital medium. Thus, they often have a similar philosophy as Choice of Games but without the detailed character customization, romance, or extensive stats. They are usually "genre" stories with some branching, and can be any length.
Examples: Cape, Ürs, Doppeljobs, The Golden Heist, Mermaids of Ganymede, The Last Doctor, some Hosted Games
The Literary School: These are games that aspire to be literature, or are more influenced by (static) literature or film/TV than they are by video games or other interactive fiction. They have a wider variety of themes than the post-Porpentine school, and are longer and have more developed stories than the post-Videogames school. They are often linear or close enough to linear, but may have branching of some sort.
Examples: Harmonia, At King Arthur's Christmas Feast, BLK MTN,
The Narrative Sandbox School: These games try to give the player lots of things to do, often via a systematic mechanic such as location-based exploration and movement, but sometimes just via a ton of written content. Unlike the Adventure-Puzzle school, these tend to not have puzzles as such, focusing more on exploration, although they might have multiple possible goals that are more or less difficult to achieve.
Examples: Tavern Crawler, Animalia, The Master of the Land, New Year's Eve 2019
The NSFW School: To be honest, I do not have much experience with this, but I know it's kinda big, perhaps bigger than any of the other schools in terms of output.
Examples: look at the most popular interactive fiction games on itch.io with show nsfw turned on.
Other, smaller schools: lifeline-likes, lost phone-likes, dark room-likes, multiplayer games...

Everyone in Gotham loves Bruce Wayne.
He’s loved in the slums, in the overlooked places, for his charity. For his way of giving aid that only ever comes across as a little patronising because, as he’ll tell you himself, what else is he meant to do with all that money?
He’s loved in the high places, the penthouses and mansions on hills, for his charm. The rich see him and something in his smile dazzles in the way they wish the jewels that drip from their clothes could offer even the poorest imitation of.
He’s loved in the in between places for a combination of the same things. In the evening he appears on talk shows where his confidence is appealing to watch. In the morning, if you’re lucky, your child might get a scholarship or your insurance might finally be compelled to pay out and you’ll thank the stars for the cheerful man you saw on telly the night before.
Everyone in Gotham loves Bruce Wayne.
But something about his kids is a little… off.
~
First there’s Dick Grayson.
He sets the bar for the other kids, and no one can deny he sets it high.
He makes himself obvious, seeks out attention in the endearing way that only people born for show business can quite manage. He seems perfectly adjusted despite the tragedy everyone knows landed him in Bruce Wayne’s care and the papers only ever print the nicest pictures of him.
But sometimes…
Sometimes he laughs too hard and it smells like he’s leaking the Joker’s awful gas. Sometimes he frowns and the room grows quiet and scared until he remembers the role he’s playing and smiles. Sometimes someone will point out flawless he is and he’ll look at them strangely, as if to ask, ‘how could I dare be anything else?’
He starts a pattern.
~
Jason Todd is next, and God help anyone who expected someone with manners.
He’s utterly unlike Dick in a way that might seem forced if you never met him. He’s rude and brash and has absolutely none of the patience it requires most people to survive in delicate the circles of the Gotham elite.
But then he’ll say something and will leave whoever he was talking to with the smallest inkling of how clever he really is, even if it isn’t in a way any of the people that fill those ballrooms could ever understand. His rough edges will catch on something and pull until the lies and lies and lies that Gotham is built on unravel in his wake and whoever’s lucky enough to watch is left a little unsure of their place in the world.
Whatever. It’s not like street smarts do anyone that matters any favours.
~
After Jason is in his grave and poor, poor Bruce Wayne is all alone again, Tim Drake comes along.
Everyone’s a little confused about this one (doesn’t he have parents? They’re dead? What happened to their company?) but he fits the pattern of Bruce Wayne taking in only the oddest of boys.
His under eyes are permanently bruised in the way only insomnia can quite manage. He talks business with the other CEOs like he could do their jobs better than they do, and only the cleverest realise it’s because he could.
He sleeps through school but his grades are perfect. He comes across as antisocial but always seems to have plenty of friends. You would assume him to be the least tragic of Bruce’s boys but then he’ll get that look in his eye and you’ll wonder…
You’ll wonder if he knows everything and then you’ll try not to wonder what it cost him.
(take a look at his scars, maybe you can guess)
~
Then comes Damian Wayne, the blood son.
He fills the chatter of families all over Gotham like none of Bruce’s kids had since Dick. A true son! One made out of old Brucie’s blood and flesh and bone! Surely this one might be liked as well as his father?
He is not.
In his first TV appearance he insults the interviewer. Then the audience. Then Gotham in general and the people know their city is the dark thing that lurks in the shadows but it’s theirs.
He looks down on people in a way that’s almost otherworldly, a level of contempt you would think impossible if not for having seen it in the twist of the child’s brow. At first he even shares it for his brothers, turning his nose up at them in same way he does everything else in the city.
The only thing he doesn’t appear to hate with his whole four foot being is his father.
Damian’s scorn for his brothers softens with time, growing into a respect you would think endearing if the kid wouldn’t clearly break your kneecaps if you called him cute. But from the moment he arrives in Gotham it’s clear he loves his father, and even if no one can say they took to the kid at first, at least there was always one aspect in which they could find kinship.
~
Everyone in Gotham loves Bruce Wayne, especially his kids. And even if Gotham finds them a little odd, at least they have something in common.

Do you think "Daphne is the one handling the budget" is at all a popular headcanon for the Mystery Gang?
I like the idea of Daphne pulling out some reading glasses to do the gang's bookkeeping in the shotgun seat on long drives. The bankrolling is definitely Daphne and Shaggy (they're the ones that come from money), but it's probably still a pretty limited amount of money to work with just based on how young they are.
I want to say that Shaggy's money is in some kind of trust until he's 25. Meanwhile, Daphne does have an allowance, which is pretty big since her parents know she's traveling and they may not approve of the company she keeps, but they DO want her to be safe... but it's not enough to just spend willy nilly, considering she's the bulk of the funds for four people and one dog.
Someone has to plan out what they spend on, like... food and hygiene. Trap supplies. Laundromat usage. The occasional motel night if the elements are making 'sleep in the van' a bad idea. Phone plans, depending on the era. Health insurance if their parents don't have them on-plan (depends on the year). Car insurance (legally required). The van is old enough to require maintenance and have a pretty crappy mpg, so the gas budget is pretty high. Yearly inspections and other "let's not get stopped by the cops" stuff. Vet visits (vaccinations, teeth cleaning) for Scooby. Medication for various chronic conditions they may have. Replacing Velma's glasses when they get broken or her prescription changes. Fred's hair gel, which I assume he has. Shaggy's weed stipend. So much sunscreen. Etc.
Like they do have homes to go back to in case they truly run out of money, but it's still a lot to cover, and emergencies on the road do happen.
Modern setting Daphne just does an accounting course online and gets a CPA degree all in service of: 1. Managing the team's money 2. Catching bad guys via audit
(I'd suggest a correspondence course for an older setting but they're always on the move so idk how effective that would be.)

Way way back I drew a comic explaining what we really mean by ‘The Autism Spectrum’ and posted it here back when Tumblr was Huge. Then the comic really blew up!! Last year I did a remake of the comic, with some updated language, and using Mia, a character from a graphic novel I made. Figured I’d share for Autism Acceptance Month!

How do you preserve the food from your garden so it doesn't go bad before you can eat it?
You are wildly underestimating my ability to go fucking feral about fresh produce. I don't think I even brought snap peas into the house last year. Just ate them right off the vine.
Though I did end up freezing the strawberries/blue berries as they ripened, but even those were consumed within the week.
The only tough one was the potatoes, but that was resolved by just foisting potatoes on everyone I knew. Much more welcome than Zucchinis.

The thought that Brucie Wayne and Batman being two completely separate entities that Bruce can code switch between has consumed me especially with the idea that he mixes the two together on occasion to fuck with people
~~~~~~~~~
*Batman and Superman searching a dressing room*
Superman: What about this thing, it looks suspicious?
Batman *full Batman voice*: That’s an eyelash curler darling
~~~~~~~~
*OG JLA revealing identities to newbies*
Green Arrow: Your turn Bats, who are you?
Batman having decided to fuck with him walking up to him cocking his hip putting one hand on his chest and in full Brucie Wayne mode: C’mon Ollie-Dollie you know who I am. We dated 💕
Green Arrow (internally): Modem noise
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently revealed identities with Clark and Brucie being at the same party
Brucie: oh howdy 🤠 cowboy, fancy meeting you at this shindig
Clark *flustered* (internally): he can’t be Batman he can’t be Batman he can’t be Batman…
~~~~~~~~~
*Bruce getting a call during a JLA meeting*
Brucie: Oh! hello dear, yes of course I’m coming to your party I’ll see you later 😘
Batman: Our security measures need to be increased due to the number of criminals currently attempting to follow heroes to their base of operations
JLA *experiencing whiplash*: what.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*undercover Brucie and members of the JLA at a party*
Bruce *pretending to be drunk wandering over to the flash*: excuse moi but can I get your attention for just a momento😊
Flash *completely disconnecting Bruce and bats*: yeah uh sure sir are you alright
Batman *quiet but deep Batman voice*: there’s an assassin in the rafters
