“Eh, sure.” Why did she flinch at the mention of his parents? Maybe because he probably still had them while hers were— she really needed to get a grip of herself here, why was she suddenly so invested in this kind of thing?

“If ya don’t know ask? If she’s gotten an ultrasound or comfortable going into depth, could be a surprise. She should go ahead, get some baby names, accessories, all that good jazz.”

Hiyori tried to imagine a tiny blonde baby, wrinkled nose and crying, little fists fighting. Wonder what Shinji looked like as a kid. That’s pretty adorable actually. She’s not going to tell him that obviously.

“I’ll go with you, as long as you don’t get all sentimental on me.”

She nodded absently, trying to imagine Shinji doing anything remotely related to work. Probably drinking, sleeping, sneaking around the place. Sometimes Hiyori swore up and down Mashiro slept in a tree— not the oddest place she’s found her in.

However Shinji was a good leader, dedicated, loyal, the professional doofus but he’s never given anyone second reasoning.

“Is it early to know if it’s a boy or girl?” Hiyori mumbled.

“Maybe I could get her something..”
