One of the first things I bought myself when I hit $1M net worth was this vintage Chanel Flap bag.

I’ve always focused on myself first. That is, focusing on building my wealth first above other things.

It was first debt repayment ($60K - 2006 to 2008) then it was getting to my first $100K net worth (2010), then my first $500K net worth (2015), then my first million (2019).

It wasn’t until that point that I thought: Yes. I can afford this.

Ironically, I technically got the bag for free because I used shopping credits I had, so the almost $3000 I paid was not out of pocket.

…which is what justified my next vintage designer bag purchase this year 😆.. as I had paid $0, I figured that “credit” passed over to this year.

There is something beautiful about owning a piece of fashion history for me, and it’s a truly iconic piece from Chanel. I don’t really feel like I need any other Chanel bag now.

How do you pack your bags for trips?

So I never previously considered taking my nicer bags on vacation. But since I started collecting my #vintagechanel bags, I decided I really wanted to use them and not just let them sit in my closet. I also felt very safe bringing my purses to the Maldives because we stayed at the resort with no movement to different places in a safe environment. I know people who leave their luxury purses at home depending on the vacation destination so consider the safety of the location.

So I use three main methods to pack and transport them safely: 1️⃣Stuff each bag with an insert or pillow to protect its shape when not in use. I used the Fluffy pillow from @mygrandfathersthings for my Diana 2️⃣Place purses in dust bags to keep them clean and for mild cushioning of the corners 3️⃣Carry the bags separately and don’t pack them in a suitcase. I couldn’t imagine crushing and denting my purses. Keep them in a nondescript looking tote bag. Bonus points if it can be zipped and is water resistant!
