So it turns out that The Spirealm (the game in the show) was the brainchild of Jiushi and his estranged childhood best friend. The friend took the material with him to America after they stopped talking and developed the game there. Jiushi has, evidently, forgotten all about this. Finally, representation for girlies w traumatic college experiences who don't remember shit abt it!
But the Evil American Capitalists put bad/evil elements into the game like violence, ect. So now, the friend is trying to purify it, and he realizes that only Jiushi can help him do that. So he sends the game (anonymously) to Jiushi, who plays it and gets sucked in.
So much of the game itself is basically clues and hints that are connected to Jiushi specifically, such as the kaleidoscopes and doors that open up into their college dorm room.
Jiushi told Ruan to give all of his (Ruan's) money to his (Ruan's) family, but Ruan gave it to Jiushi's estranged mom instead. His mom then calls him up and gives him some old papers of his she's found, which is what he's looking at in the video. Some of the drawings connect directly to the levels of the game.
honestly one of the funniest things happening in this show is both of these grown ass men getting lowkey ate up by one (1) 18 yr old playing twins lolllllllllll but the editing's so fawking bad that you hardly notice #JUSTICEFORMYTWINS!!!!!!
