Pt. 8 : Rescue Rangers!
Both the build and the show have rescue attempts that don’t go according to plan...
UK: Today we’re starting on the second set of legs! They’re just like the last set but-
Daisy: Alright, no one move! I’m here to save the princess!
UK: Umm, you’ll have to be more specific...
Tumblr media
Peach: Hi Daisy! Did you come to help on the build?
Daisy: Peach! You’re ok? I stopped by yopir palance for tea and there was no trace of you, I just figured you were kidnapped again and came looking.
Peach: Oh my! I left a letter for Toadsworth, but I guess he didn’t see it. Some times I think my retainers need retainers to look after them...
Tumblr media
Daisy: So you’re just here building something?
UK: We’re making a super cool version of me, and we’re also watching She-Ra! You’re welcome to join us if you like.
LB: Episode nine, "No Princess Left Behind", starts off not long after the last one, with Glimmer being held prisoner in the Fright Zone’s magic crystal room and Shadow Weaver taking all the credit for everything that Catra did.
Lucy: Typical upper management...
Allura: Back at Brightmoon, the queen has heard all about the kidnapping and has gotten word that the Horde will trade Glimmer’s freedom in exchange for her’s. Adora tells her not to go through with the deal and that she will some how get Glimmer back, even though she can’t turn into She-Ra without the sword. Luckilly the all the other princesses of the allianc (and Sea Hawk) show up to help.
LB: Well, all the princesses except Netossa and Spinnerella. I guess they were ignored so long that they chose to sit this one out.
Emmet: Adora comes up a super great plan for sneaking into the Fright Zone prison and it goes off without a hitch! Well, other than Entrapta getting distracted by random tech, Mermista getting suck in the sewers, Sea Hawk jumping the gun on an ambush and then getting carried off by Scorpia... but they do get into the prison!
UK: Over in the magic crystal room, Shadow Weaver explains to glimmer that the sparky magic chains keeping her in place also stops her from using her teleportation, giving her a really nasty shock when she tries.
Lucy: Meanwhile, Entrapta wanders off from the group again and manages to befriend/reprogram a large attack drone that she calls Emily. Her and the new bot then rescue Sea Hawk from Scorpia and reunites with the rest of the team just in time to access the Prison control room.
Tumblr media
UK: Now there’s a person who really loves their work!
LB: After a physics defying fight with the cadets, they manage to rescue Bow and find out where Glimmer is being held. Adora orders Bow and the other princesses to head to the skiff bay while she stays behind to get Glimmer. Her plan is let herself be captured since she would then be brought to Shadow Weaver, which is also where Glimmer is.
Allura: Unfortunately, once Adora is taken to Shadow Weaver, the evil sorceress straps her to a table and explains that she’ll erase her memory and revert her back to a loyal Horder soldier. She also tells Catras that the brainwashed Adora will be replacing her as Force Captain again.
Daisy: Not wanting her freind’s mind to be wiped, Glimmer to pushes through the pain of her magical restrains and manages to teleport at Shadow Weaver with a full glitter punch to the face!
Tumblr media
Starfire: As a freind of mine would say, bo-yeah!”
Lucy: Glimmer and Adora manages to escape, but soon reach a dead end. To make matters worse, the effects of the magic restraints seem to be still affecting glimmer, causing her pain when she tries to teleport. Catra then shows up and gives Adora the magic sword so she can transform into She-Ra.
LB: Catra even adds the old “It’s not because I like you”. At this point it’s hard to tell if she is being tsundere or really just wants to screw over Shadow Weaver.
UK: Back with the princesses, the way to the skiff docks are a series of rooms that you have to quickly run through before they fill with fire. On the last room, Entrapta pet robot gets stuck and she goes back to help it just as the doors closes!
Tumblr media
Emmet: Wait, did Entrapta just die?
LB: You know, it was really unclear, but the rest of the group seems to think so. When they pick up Adora and Glimmer with they skiff, they awkwardly tell then about Entrapta fate in kid friendly terms.
Lucy: With Entrapta ‘gone’ and Glimmers powers broken, this was certainly far from a clear cut victory. I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what happens next...

Pt. 7: Going according to plan
Ultrakatty gets a couple of legs and the episode gets really good!
UK: Today we’re finishing off the first two legs by building the lower pats and feet then popping them onto the body.
LB: And it’s a good thing that the last episode didn't introduce any new princesses, getting kinda crowded here.
Tumblr media
UK: I don’t know, i think it’s more like a big party!
Emmet: Hey Unikitty, I couldn’t help but notice the really cool fire patter Ultrakatty has on her legs.
Tumblr media
UK: Yes! The fire shows how wild and touch Ultrakatty is, and the smooth paw pads and manicured nails shows her sensitive side.
Lucy: Episode 8, "Princess Prom", unsurprisingly starts with Adora and Glimmer getting invited to said Princess Prom.
B: Prom? Barf. sounds like this will be another fluff episode...
Peach: Technically it’s a royal ball, as mentioned in the invitation. It’s hardly a ‘prom’ since it’s held once a decade, resulting in most returning attendees being full adults.
UK: But Adora is really nervous about going whatever it’s called. I guess the horde doesn't teach dancing? The real bombshell though is that Bow already made plans to go to the ball with Perfuma instead of Glimmer, throwing off her plans for just the three of them.
Allura: Back in the Fright Zone, Catra is talking with Scorpia about her plans to overthrow Shadow Weaver and Scorpia suggest ambushing her at the ball. Turns out that Scorpia is the princess of the Fright Zone and the giant magic crystal Shadow weaver uses originally belonged to her family.
Starfire: The nice scorpion woman is a princess too? We should have her join the building of the Lego!
LB: Unfortunately there’s zero merch of her, like at all, let alone any of the building brick variety. In fact, there’s only 2 limited edition figures for the whole show. For a series originally meant to sell toys in the 80′s, they really need to up their merch game.
Emmet: Over in Brightmoon, Adora found a healthy way to deal with her anxiety, by treating the ball like a military campaign and super preparing all the info she can on it! She hits a snag though when she finds out that she can’t go as She-Ra due to the ball’s ‘no big magic swords’ policy, so she need to pick out a dress.
UK: That means we get a super fun montage of everyone dressing up for the party!
Tumblr media
LB: ... wow.
Lucy: Behold the power of the little black dress.
LB: Ahem. When Adora gets to the ball, after giving up her magic sword at the door, she manages to stick her foot in her mouth by blurting out her surprise that the princess hosting the ball, Frosta, is only 11.75 years old. Not a good start considering that she hoped to convince her to join the rebellion.
Allura: They they meet up with Entrapta, who views the ball as a social experiment, and Mermista, who brought Sea Hawk as her +1 for some reason. Throughout the introductions Glimmer preoccupied with Bow showing up with Perfuma, yet when he ask her to hang out with them she makes up an excuse to decline.
Peach: Adora takes the opportunity to formally apologize to Princess Frosta, and tries to convince her to join the rebellion. Frosta rejects the offer, citing that her kingdom has not been threaten by the Horde and her military could defend it if it ever was.
UK: She then find Glimmer being all mopey on a upper level, watching Bow have fun with others. She admits to Adora that she’s afraid that if Bow makes new friends he might stop being friends with her. Which is a supper silly thing to worry about, real good friends don’t just dump each other for new friends! Adora is about to tell her then when Catra walks into the ball with Scorpia.
LB: Awkward.
Emmet: It gets even more awkward when Adora tries to convince Frosta to kick them out, but since they are official guests and the ball is neutral ground, they get to stay. As Catra and Scorpia split up and mingle around the party, Adora and Glimmer also split up to keep an eye on them.
Lucy: But Glimmer doesn't exactly do a good job watching Scorpia since she’s quickly distracted by a conversation with Bow. She tells him about her fears that he’ll leave her behind, but he points out that he wanted to hang out with her and Perfuma but glimmer was the one to say no and has been pushing hi away. Then when he leaves Scorpia is nowhere to be found.
LB: But Bow soon finds her though, planting heat bombs on the palace’s pillars. He goes to warn some guards, but they turn out to be the Horde cadets in disguise. They basically did the same plan as Adora had in ep 4, but it worked this time since they didn’t take off their masks as soon as they snuck in! Scorpia then knocks Bow out with her tail while carrying the magic sword.
UK: Back at the ball it’s time for dancing, yay! This leads to a super cool scene where Adora keeps switching partners and in talking them them learns that Bow and Scorpia are missing. It end with Catra teasing that her plan already worked and asking Adora if she knows where Bow is.
Tumblr media
Starfire: Catra is reminding me of Slade, a very bad man that was very good at the manipulation!
LB: This pushes Adora over the edge and she attacks Catra, but she’s quickly restrained by Frosta for breaking the non-violence rules of the ball. Before she can banish Adora the heat bombs go off and cause chaos.
Emmet: Glimmer meanwhile teleports off to find Bow, but when she does she’s also knocked out by Scorpia tail. That must really sting!
Lucy: Frosta uses her magic crystal to fix all the damaged from the bombs while Adora chases Catra to the roof of the palace. They fight up there until they both fall off, but Adora manages to catch herself and Catra by jamming her hairpin into a wall.
Allura: But Catra says she dosen’t want to be saved by Adora and lets go, landing in a Horde ship piloted by Scorpia. With her are the unconscious Bow and Glimmer and the magic sword. They fly off, ending the episode with Adora clinging to the wall.
Tumblr media
Starfire: Wait, the bad guys are victorious? Where is the ending of happiness?
LB: Looks like we’ll have to wait until the next episode. One thing’s for sure, things are certainly getting interesting...

Pt. 6: Getting Dark
The build has some Voltron call backs and the episode start to turn around.
LB: Hey guys, I figured that since the last episode added another princess to the show, I’d beat Unikitty to the punch and invite one myself. This is Princess Allura of planet Altea, she helped me on the Voltron build.
Tumblr media
Allura: Hello everyone!
Uk: Aww, but I was going to bring the little mermaid!
LB: Allura is not only super strong, but she also has experience building giant cats. Ariel doesn't even have feet!
Lucy: Well, we’re glad to have more help, no mater who it is. Today we’re making UltraKatty’s legs. Since they’re the same front to back, we can save some time by making two at once.
Tumblr media
Starfire: Oh, it is most wonderful to have another alien princess helping out. Can you also do the flying and energy beam shooting?
Allura: Not really, but I can do magic and shape shift a little.
Starfire: Glorious!
LB: The seventh episode, "In the Shadows of Mystacor", starts off with the team sleeping in the woods and Adora hears Shadow Weaver’s voice. She wakes up and then spends the rest of the night on edge and starting into the darkness.
Emmit: In the morning Glimmer figures that Adora is just stressed after having her She-Ra powers corrupted last episode, so she sugests that they all go to the magic land of Mystacor to relax.
UK: The gang take a cool floating rock ride to a floating magic city protected by a magic bubble and filled with magicians. It’s magic all around! But one of Shadow Weaver’s creepy shadow things follow them in...
Lucy: So there’s magic users other than the princesses? Why aren't they helping the rebellion?
LB: Seems like, aside from the main heroes, everyone in this world just looks out for themselves. It’s like a clean and pastel coloured Gotham city.
Peach: They meet Glimmer’s aunt Castaspella, who is... a little passive-aggressive. Then, during a tour of Mystacor they come across the scorched statue of Light Spinner, a sorceress who went evil with power and was cast out.
Tumblr media
Allura: And this is obviously Shadow Weaver. What is it with good magic types going crazy and becoming a main antagonist?
Lucy: And speaking of Shadow Weaver, her shadow creature briefly shows up but only Adora sees it, freaking her out even more. Her friends figure that she just needs to relax on a cloud beach to get rid of her stress, but Adora isn’t really the kick back and relax type...
Emmit: Ha, I bet Adora’s frigidity being unable to just do nothing is the same as if Batman tried that.
LB: Pretty much. I don’t do ‘chillax’, I’m a coiled spring always ready to fight crime!
UK: Glimmer then tries to get Adora to relax in a super neat spa/sauna cave, and it works for a bit, but then she see the shadow thing again in the shape of Shadow Weaver and freaks out. Adora tells her friends about Shadow Weaver and how she was kinda like her mom in the Horde and really messed her up...
Peach: Adora then says she wants to be alone to think for a bit, and after her friends leave the shadow creature attacks her directly. It then antagonizes and confuses her by projecting the voices of Catra and Hordack, until she lashes out as she-ra and accidentally destroys some ancient Mystacor relics.
Emmet: Castaspella gets really mad at Adora and Bow suggest that she just go and get some sleep as they clean up the mess. But when she’s back in her room, the shadow thing takes the shape of Glimmer and tells Adora that she’s mad at her and she should just leave.
Starfire: Can we please go back to the fun fights with robots and the soda pop? This story is getting very not happy...
LB: Sorry, it looks like this show is actually getting serious... While Adora is getting ready to leave, the shadow creature attacks during a ritual designed to keep Mystacor hidden and protected. It stops the spell and knocks out Gliimer, Bow, Castaspella. Then to be extra mean it goes to Adora as Bow and tells her that they have to run away since the protective barrier is gone, but when she tries to touch him she discovers that it’s the shadow creature.
Lucy: Adora then runs back to where the ritual was being held, but the shadow got there first and Shadow Weaver is controlling it directly. She then goes full Mother Gothel on Adora, telling her that her friends can’t understand her and that she’s only good for fighting.
Tumblr media
UK: Poor Adora is so upset at this point that she can’t even transform into She-Ra, but then she then finds the courage to stand up to Shadow Weaver and reject all her lies. The magic sword then changes into a shield and Adora is able to finish the protection spell and blast away the shadow creature. Yay!
Lucy: Bat’s wasn’t kidding, this show is getting serious. Gaslighting, child abuse, toxic parents, dealing with trauma... hard to believe that this is the same show that had woodland hippies beating bad guys with rugs a few episodes back.
LB: And it seems it’s not done getting serious. The last shot is Catra finding Shadow Weaver knocked out from Adora’s attack and then saying that to really get to her you need to go for her heart, while showing a shot of Bow...

Pt. 5: Progress!
The first bag of parts is done, a new princess joins the build, and the second best princess joins the show!
Lucy: The main body of Ultrakayy is nearly done, we just need to add a bunch of spikes.
Peach: These are not very sharp, but I’m still glad my paws are well padded.
Emmet: Oh, looks like Unikitty brought another friend!
Tumblr media
UK: That’s right! Team She-Ra got Princess Mermista last episode, so I pulled some strings with WB and got Princess Koriand'r of Tamaran for our build!
LB: Hey Starfire, how’s it going?
Starfire: Oh, Lego the Batman! Things are going quite well! The Titans have a new movie and two TV series, we are busier than a Tropnaz in the rainy season!
LB: Oh, well, I’m like, totally busy with movies and other media too. On top of all that, we’re currently making the back side of a giant cat, glad you could make time to help.
Tumblr media
Starfire: It is my pleasure Lego the Batman! Oh, and I have much news about your Dick!
LB: Uhh, she means Grayson/Robin/Nightwing! Umm, how about we talk about that after the episode...
Lucy: Episode 6, "System Failure", starts with a jumpy kitchen staff as they prepare tiny food for their very eccentric princess, Entrapta.
LB: She’s basically a purple Peridot with prehensile hair. Her latest obsession is some ‘first one’s tech’ that she’s trying to get to work, but it winds up turning all of her robots evil.
Tumblr media
Starfire: I often have similar problems with your earth tech, although there is usually more fire.
UK: Luckily for her, Adora, Glimmer, and Bow just happened to be heading up the mountain to her castle to ask her join Team Princess when all the bots go crazy.
Emmit: Along the way Bow mentions that invented some more special arrows, including a sonic one, that he wants to show Entrapta. For some reason Adora and Glimmer laugh and make fun of his sonic arrow, and then Adora ignores Bow’s warning bout an avalanche when She-Ras up to smash some rocks in their way. The princesses are really not acting like themselves and are being kinda mean.
LB: Calling it now, the moral of the episode is that it’s not always better to be super and normal people can be useful. Also, that Sonic arrow saves the day.
UK: We’re only five minutes into the episode, how can you be so sure of the end?
LB: I know the trope, heck, I am the trope!
Lucy: Well, Entrapta lives up to her name when Glimmer and She-Ra fall into a trap and get lost in the castle. Meanwhile, Bow gets grabbed by the kitchen staff and is filled in on the whole evil robot uprising and how the robots are sensitive to sounds.
UK: Glimmer and She-Ra soon meet Entrapta, but are also soon attacked by a giant cleaning robot. She-ra manages to smash it to bits, but her sword gets infected too, causing her to revert back to Adora and act...
Peach: I believe the expression in my world is “Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy”?
LB: Sure, we’ll go with that to keep Tumblr happy. Glimmer then has to drag Adora around as Entrapta tries to navigate them through the trap filled maze that is her home. They finally reach the lab controlling the bots, but even the electric door is evil.
Tumblr media
Lucy: You know, between the goofy Adora stuff and Entrapta’s quirkiness, these parts of the episode are actually super fun and enjoyable.
LB: Too bad they are not all the episode. The rest of it focuses on Bow leading the kitchen staff and teaching them that they can play a part in the rebellion just as much as Princesses. It helps that these robots are so flimsy that they can be taken down with soda, cake icing, and cooking utensils.
Emmit: Eventually everyone meets up together at the control room and they work as a big super team to solve the problem! unfortunately it doesn't really work that well. The thing controlling the robots is protected and cutting the power doesn't even stop the computer.
Lucy: Oh, gee, if only they had a sonic arrow to lure the sound sensitive robots to attack the computer...
Starfire: But friend Lucy, they do have one. The Bow showed it at the start of the story!
Lucy: ... Right. So Bow uses the arrow to save the day while Adora and Glimmer learn that it’s not always better to be super and normal people can be useful. Bats totally called it.
LB: Am I good or what? Although not everyone learned their lesson, since the episode ends with Entrapta fixing the ‘first one’s tech’ that caused all the problems, confidant that she can make it work next time.

Pt. 4: Guest Stars
Another princess joins the build and the best princess joins the show (and Mermista’s there too).
Emmet: The builds coming along nicely, lots of connector parts added and- What is that?!
LB: Uh, I think it’s where the back end connects, why?
Lucy: No, I think he meant her...
Tumblr media
UK: Guess what? Since the gang in She-Ra got a new princess on the team last episode, I figure we could use another princess, and a cat one to boot!
Peach: Greetings, I am Cat Princess Peach. Princess Unikitty invited me to help with the build, and it sounded like fun.
Lucy: Umm, the more the merrier I guess. You just need to follow along with the instructions. Oh, and be careful when handling the stickers.
Tumblr media
Emmit: Yay, stickers!
Peach: By the way, Bat Lego Man, is your costume from a power up too?
LB: It’s Lego Batman, and I power up the costume.
UK: The 5th episode of She-Ra, titled “The Sea Gate”, starts with Glimmer asking her mom if she can go to the sea kingdom to get the princess there to join their team.
Lucy: It’s actually not that bad a plan. Glimmer even points out the strategic defensive value of the titular Sea Gate in protecting Brightmoon from attack from the sea.
LB: Although they again ignore Spinnerella and Netossa, just taking She-Ra as muscle.
Emmit: Weirdly enough, Brightmoon doesn't have any ships or captains to sail them, I guess the queen gets seasick or something, so the gang have to go to the harbor town of Seaworthy to find them.
Peach: Oh, Seaworthy reminds me of when I took a vacation to the town of Rogueport, although this place looks friendlier. Also, less alien abductions.
LB: Okay... At a tavern the trio find Seahawk, an over the top Han Solo wannabee, who has a ship and claims to know Princess Mermista of the sea kingdom. They get his ship and services free of charge when Adora beats him in an arm wrestling contest.
Lucy: I guess she’s really strong even when not She-Ra.
UK: Back in the Fright Zone, Shadow weaver learns of their plans through one of the shadow creatures she sent out last episode. She orders Catra to get Adora back, but doesn't send her alone.
Tumblr media
Emmet: Oh, I think i’m really going to like Scorpia. She’s friendly, helpful, likes cats, and hugs!
Lucy: Aside from Shadow Weaver, the horde does seem to have them more interesting characters.
LB: Well, Seahawk isn’t winning any points for the good guys. He quickly proves to be useless and even makes things worse when he sails the gang towards a sea serpent just to show off. She-ra quickly handles the monster and they finally make it to the sea kingdom, only to find it empty
UK: Yeah, turns out that the big Sea Gate that keeps the Horde out is on the fritz, so everyone but the princess and her servant ran away. Luckilly though, Adora reads some old writing on the wall and has the idea that maybe She-Ra can fix the gate.
LB: Point the magic sword at the gate does seem to help it, although slowly, and while She-Ra is stuck charging it up, Scorpia and gang show up in a Horde ship and start blasting the gate. So everyone goes off to try to stop them while She-Ra remains on gate duty.
Lucy: It’s actually a pretty good fight scene, with Mermista using her water powers and Bow holding his own against the cadets. That is untill Scorpia tosses him at the ship’s propeller.
Emmit: Okay... she may be super friendly, but she’s definitely a bad guy. Luckily Seahawk swing in and save Bow at the last second.
Lucy: I’m not even going to bother asking what she rope he swung in on was connected to...
UK: Good idea. While that’s going on, Catra goes to where She-Ra is and tries to get her to come back to the horde, by insulting and hitting her? Since she has to keep the gate charging, she can’t fight back, and Catra is only stopped by Mermista tossing her into the water with a wave.
LB: Then to take out the Horde ship, Glimmer gets Seahawk to light his ship on fire, something he tends to do anyways, and ram it into the other ship with them teleporting off at the last second.
Tumblr media
Lucy: And some how that works to blow up a giant metal warship! Either the Horde really cheaped out when building their ships or Seahawk’s ship was made out of explosives instead of wood.
Emmit: So in the end She-ra fixes the sea gate, and Mermista agrees to join team Princess. She even gives Seahawk a new boat, which is really nice!
Peach: I have to say though, if Catra’s only goal was to capture Adora, then she’s really going about it the wrong way. I know someone who’s made a career out of kidnapping princess and he makes it look easy.
LB: Well, on that unsettling note, we’ll see you all again tomorrow, same Lego bat time, same Lego bat blog!

Pt. 3: Critical Dumb
Construction of Ultrakatty begins and “The Princesses of Power” starts princesses-ing.
UK: We’re finally starting on UltraKatt, Yay!
Lucy: Looks like the first steps are constructing the bottom half of the main body, looks simple enough.
Tumblr media
Emmet: Although, isn’t it kinda weird that we’re making an alternate version of you, Unikitty.
UK: Nah, They say that your friends shape who you are, this is just taking that literally!
LB: Eh, I prefer to think of myself as a self made bat.
Tumblr media
LB: Hey, Unikitty. I noticed that some times you look a little more... cartoony?
UK: Oh! This is my look from my cartoon show “Unikitty!”!
LB: If you have your own cartoon, why aren't we watching that instead of She-Ra?
UK: Well... The show is really dumb, super funny and silly, but oh so very dumb! so there wouldn’t be much to talk about.
Uk: And talking about talking about She-Ra, let’s talk about episode 4, "Flowers for She-Ra".
LB: That a “Flowers for Algernon” reference? If so, maybe the main cast are going to smarten up a bit...
Lucy: Well, in the cold open Adora loses a fight with a bed and Glimmer ignores her obvious culture shock.
LB: Ah, so likely a big no on new smarts.
Emmet: The next morning Adora sits in on a meeting with the rebel forces, which is just Bow, Glimmer, the queen, and two new princesses: Netossa and Spinnerella. But no one talks to them or even knows why they’re there.
Tumblr media
LB: What!? The princesses are the main fire power of the rebellion and they don’t even talk to half of them? Unikitty, you sure your show is dumber than this?
UK: Oh, loads more! Any-who, the queen says that a princess named Perfuma asked for help since the Horde is invading her land of Plumeria and blocking trade routes. The queen then says that they will only send food and support, rejecting Glimmer suggestion of fighting the Horde.
Lucy: I get that she’s against putting her daughter in danger, but why not send the three other princess they have, She-Ra, Netossa, and Spinnerella to deal with the horde?
Uk: Remember what we talked about yesterday with things happening because the plot says so?
Lucy: Oh, not this again!
Emmet: So... She-ra, Glimmer and Bow arrive in Plumeria and find that all he plants are sick and there’s big plumes of smoke coming from the direction of the Horde camp. This is just a guess, but I think the two may be related...
LB: You’d think so, huh? But Princess Perfuma doesn't think they are related and insists that She-Ra just focus on some how magically curing their plants, Ignoring the horde. So, despite not knowing how to heal plant, and also suspecting that the Horde are involved, She-Ra agrees to give plant healing a shot.
Lucy: Which she completely fails at. Giving up, she turns back into Adora and all the villagers get mad that she’s not the same She-Ra as hyped up in their legends. After trying nothing themselves, the villagers give up and decide to leave Plumeria. Then finally, after another small pity party of their own, Adora come up with the idea to actually sneak into the Horde base obviously causing all the problems.
LB: Only took them half the episode this time, maybe they are getting smarter.
Tumblr media
Lucy: Umm... did the animators completely forget what what Glimmer looks like? She’s not a 10 year old boy. And where did they even get that armor?!
UK: The plot said...
Lucy: Arrg!!
LB: Using Adora’s knowledge oh Horde procedure and their disguises, they manage to sneak in undetected at the changing of the guards. Which is smart. Yet they then immediately take off their helmets and are recognized as not part of the camp. Which is not so smart.
Emmet: At the same time, Princess Perfuma finds out that the trio have gone off to face the Horde, and that motivates her and her people to finally fight back. Yay.
Lucy: But oddly enough Adora and her team are not fighting back, they are just running away from very slow laser beams, even though one of them can transform instantly into a near unstoppable Princess! Luckily they are saved by the villagers charging in and taking out the guard with only pots and blankets.
LB: Apparently the Horde’s only weakness is arts and crafts. Who knew?
UK: Adora then finally transforms into She-Ra and smashes the big machine that was poisoning all the plants, healing them instantly. And with the day saved, Perfuma agrees to join the rebellion.
LB: Off in the Fright Zone, Shadow Weaver is going against Hordak’s orders and assigns Catra to bring back Adora while also sending out shadows to spy on her.

Pt. 2: Friends making enemies
Work concludes on the Duplo Alien and She-Ra gets She-Ra-ing!
UK: We’re back with the second part of this super awesome build! Today we’ll be finishing off the Duplo Alien!
Lucy: It may be a little late, but are you sure this is safe to build? These things did destroy Bricksburg...
UK: "Don’t worry, their queen assured me that they are totally not evil, she even sang a song about it!
Emmit: Well, if it’s a song then it has to be true!"
Tumblr media
UK: I wonder if we all look upside down when it’s like this?
Emmit: Well there a spinny bit back here for the eye, I just need to turn it to have it look right side up.
LB: I don’t think that’s how that works. Let’s just get the lower half built before you make it dizzy.
Tumblr media
Duplo: Hewwo! I'm from pwaneth dupwo. Can I hewp buiwd?
LB: Sorry kid, This set is for ages 8 and up, but you can watch cartoons with us.
UK: The third episode of She-Ra is called "Razz".
LB: Ugh, this better not have anything to do with that Psychonauts kid...
Lucy: You don’t like Psychonauts?
LB: I’ve built a franchise off my emotional baggage. I don’t trust any one that can mess with that.
UK: Well this seems to have nothing to do with that. The episode starts off Bow sneaking Adora into the castle while Glimmer deals with her mom.
Lucy: Why is Bow trying to hide the fact that they’re sneaking her in? It should be obvious that they can’t just waltz around with a known enemy in their group.
Duplo: Her room ish preththy!
Lucy: I retract my argument.
UK: Glimmer does a really bad job at not explaining anything to her mom, and then teleports off to her room to explain that she wants She-Ra to meet her mom to explain everything.
Emmit:  Tiny problem is that Adora doesn't really know how to do the whole she-Ra thing on command yet.
Tumblr media
LB: Well, she can start by learning how to hold a sword. Here’s a hint, it’s not by the sharp bits!
UK: So Bow and Glimmer go to buy her some time while she gets in touch with her inner amazonian. Yet Adora finds that she doesn't have the space needed to lift a sword in Glimmers room with out clutzing out, so she puts on a coat and goes to a nearby field to practice.
Lucy: But, that room was at least 8 meters wide and sparsely decorated, how could she have no room? Also, they just establish that it was a sheer cliff out side of the room, how did she suddenly get down and all the way to that field?!
UK: There’s a very good answer to that, it is-
Duplo: Horshey!
UK: Excatly. The plot needed her to be outside, with the horse, trying to activate She-ra, so that's where she is.
Lucy: That doesn't seem like good writing...
Emmit: The She-Ra practicing doesn't go well though, since she accidentally blasts the horse with her magic and turns it into an alicorn! The poor horse gets really freaked out, I know change can be scary, and flies through a training ground. The guards then notice Adora and chase her off, which is not very welcoming behavior.
LB: Back at the Horde, the other trainees are talking about how She-Ra kicked their butts, but Catra says she’s not biggie. The others tell her to shut up since Adora isn’t around to protect her any more.
Lucy: Who would have guessed that the Evil Horde are not very friendly.
UK: Meanwhile, Adora has run into the spooky forest and happens to find a kooky old lady named Razz, who calls her Mara and recognizes her magic sword. They go off berry picking in an ancient ruin, and Razz shows off her cool climbing skill. They then got to a part of the forest that the Hoard has trashed and set up a base at. Adora finally decides that the Hoard are big meanies and that she should use her She-Ra powers to stop them.
LB: Only took her 3 episodes to figure that out...
Lucy: She transforms into She-Ra and storms into the camp just as the Hoard are trying to capture the alicornized horse. She-Ra frees the flying horse and smashes up the place, but is then knocked out when she gets in the way of a tank blast meant for the horse.
Tumblr media
LB: That would sting a little.
Uk: Luckily, Razz uses some old lady magic and poofs them all to safety until Adora can recover. Adora then flies on the horsey to the good guy’s castle and meets with the queen (who is still arguing with Glimmer). She promises to help fight the bad guys and is accepted as a good guy. Yay!
LB: Back at the Horde though, Shadow Weaver brings Catra to their big boss Hordak to get yelled at for not bringing Adora back. Yet Hordak flips everything around and says that he doesn't care about getting Adora back and that it’s Shadow Weaver fault if Catra messed up. He even promotes Catra to Force captain to replace Adora.
Emmit: Wow, other than running the whole evil Hoard thing, he seems like a reasonable and fair guy.
UK: And that’s the end of the episode! Tune in tomorrow for more building and more She-Ra!
Duplo: Bu-bye!

Pt. 1: All New!
New set, new series, new format, same old Lego Batman
UK: Hi! I'm Unikitty!!
LB: I'm Batman!
Uk: And welcome to the super awesome “Unikitty Builds UltraKatty / Watches She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (and Lego Batman helps)”!
LB: Think the title is long enough? Also, why is my text light blue? I’m not Adam West! I’m switching to Purple!
UK: Aww.. But that will just show up as black on the Tumblr app.
LB: Even better!
Tumblr media
UK: This is the super cool set we’ll be making! It’s 348 pieces and the full title is “Ultrakatty & Warrior Lucy!”!!
LB: Emit and a Duplo alien are part of the set too, but apparently don’t rate top billing.
Tumblr media
LB: The set comes in 3 bags, the instruction book, and a sticker sheet.
UK: Ooh... stickers!
LB: Since they’re included in the set, we’ll get Emit and Lucy out first to help out. Even though I could totally put together this set by myself.
Tumblr media
UK: Hi guys! Welcome to the build! We’re starting with the Duplo alien!
Lucy: Thank you for freeing us from the unending limbo that is the dreaded MIB. It was a dreamless nothing existence of eternal timeless-
Emit: I was in bag 3! Oh, can I get coloured text too? Dibs on orange!
LB: No. You’re technically guests characters, so you get default text. This may be Unikitty’s build, but I won’t let it turn into a technicolor nightmare to read.
Emit: Aww.. Well any ways, what’s next?
UK: Next we watch cartoons!
Lucy: But we just started on the build...
LB: We have to stretch this out across 12 parts, so expect them to be on the short side.
Emit: We’re watching both parts of “The Sword” together, so it’s like a double decker couch of fun right off the bat!
Lucy: Why exactly are we watching She-Ra? It hardly ties into the build.
UK: Duh! It’s ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’, and I am Princess Unikitty. So, by extension, the Ultrakatty set is also princess related. It’s a whole princess synergy going on here!
LB: The logic checks out. The episode starts off with introducing us to Adora, a cadet in the Horde army, as she does combat training with some other cadets. She easily handles all the robots representing “evil princesses” by herself, like a boss.
UK: Then the super cool cat-girl Catra jumps in at the last moment and claims the victory! Go cats!
Lucy: Then after the training this Shadow Weaver lady floats in and congratulates Adora on her work, yet completely disregards Catra. I don’t know about you, but i’m getting some serious evil vibes from her.
Emit: Come on Lucy, I’m sure she’s nice deep down. She even gives Adora a promotion to force captain. That’s nice!
LB: But then we see just who Adora will be going up against. Over in Bright Moon, Princess Glimmer whines to her mother about wanting to fight the Horde and then she’s grounded. Clearly a dangerous force that must be crushed.
UK: Back with the Horde, Catra pounces on Adora and finds out about he cool promotion.
Tumblr media
Lucy: This shot sums up how most fan see this pair, doesn’t it?
LB: Pretty much...
Emit: When Catra gets sad that she can’t come with Adora on her first mission, Adora, like a true friend, takes her out for a fun ride to cheer her up!
Lucy: But Catra crashes the skiff into a spooky forest and both of them get separated. While wandering about Adora comes across a glowing sword that gives her visions when she touches it. After the vision the sword is gone, but Catra is there to bring Adora back home.
LB: Bummer, magic swords are hard to come by. Back at the overly pastel Bright Moon, Glimmer is sulking and whining about being grounded and then sneaks off into the spooky forest with her friend Bow to find a magic MacGuffin.
Tumblr media
Lucy: And they’re not the only ones. Adora sneaks out again, leaving Catra behind to cover for her, and heads back the forest to find that sword. She manages to track it down at the same time as Glimmer and Bow. On spotting their sworn enemy, the two warriors from Bright moon proceed to... stand yell for several seconds.
LB: It’s clear why the Horde has had so much trouble facing such formidable foes...
Lucy: After a rather pathetic fight, with that mostly consisted of teleporting and hair pulling, Adora manages to touch the sword again and gets another vision telling her she’s the fated chosen one.
Emit: Oh boy, I know what that’s like. She might want to look into just how legit that prophecy is.
LB: She wakes up and finds that she’s been captured by Glimmer and Bow, who intend to take her and the sword back to Bright Moon (mostly just to get out of being grounded). Along the way they explain that the princesses are not an evil menace, clearly, and that the Horde are actually evil invaders.
Lucy: Ha! Told you that they were totally evil!
Tumblr media
UK: They’re then attacked by a giant icky bug monster, and not even the power of sparkles can stop it! But then Adora holds up the magic sword and transforms into the super cool and really tall She-Ra!LB: I dig the cape, but is the skirt over shorts really necessary?
Lucy: Eh, given how bad the original version looked, I’ll take it.
Emit: The bug monster also seems to like the look, because it calms down right away. But when she changes back to normal, Glimer and Bow then argue with her about getting the sword back. Friends should’t fight, and the bug thanks so too since it gets all angry again and chases them into an old temple.
LB: In the temple they find that Adora can some how read the super old writing, and they manage to start up this sweet holographic AI interface. But they fail the login check and the whole place starts to fall apart. They should have just started with “hey ‘puter”, that works with all my tech.
Lucy: Instead of just giving Adora the sword so she can go all She-Ra, Glimmer teleports the three of them 100 feet off the ground in the middle of nowhere, and then passes out. When she wakes up, Adora explains that the only reason she’s still sticking around is that she wants answers to the visions she’s having and Bright Moon seems like the best shot.
UK: Back with the Horde, Shadow Weaver is questioning Catra about where Adora is. When Catra says she has no idea, Shadow Weaver then says that she already knows where she is and sends Catra to capture her. So she asked just to be a big meanie to Catra!
Tumblr media
LB: Meanwhile in the woods, the trio come across a small village having a festival. The inhabitants seem to be some kind of goat?
UK: They’re fauns, you dork!
Lucy: References aside, they stick around the village for a while and Adora gets to experience her very first party, topped off by encountering a horse for the first time. But then it’s all cut short then then the Horde attacks and Adora is shocked to hear that this village is where she was supposed to attack on her first mission.
UK: While Glimmer and Bow clear everyone out of the village, Adora tries to convince Catra that the Horde are the baddies, but she doesn't really care and just wants Adora to come home. Adora refuses and chooses to stay with the good guys. She then transforms into She-Ra and starts taking out tanks!
LB: In the end the Horde is driven off, but the village is destroyed and Adora has abandoned her lifelong friend, but at least they got a horse out of it.

Pt 79: The End!
Both Lego Voltron and Voltron: Legendary Defender are all done!
The last step in the Voltron construction, appropriately enough, is lowering the face in place, just like in the original anime.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “And i’ll form the head!”
After that it’s just a matter of connecting the shield and sword and the set is finally finished!
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “I need to get my own Bat-mech now.”
For fun, here’s a comparison of the Lego Voltron set and Legendary Defender Voltron set.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Mine’s bigger.” Sven: “Well, this one can talk!”
Here’s the Lego Black Lion with the Legendary Defender Black Lion, and the original 1984 Voltron Black Lion toy (only one of the set I still have).
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Cool, you can actually ride in the old one!”
Finally, here’s a comparison of all the other Lego Lions with their Legendary Defender counter parts.
Tumblr media
Sven: “No meed to fight over who is cooler, you’re all awesome.” Lego Batman: “Just not as awesome as me.”
In the end, this was a long build (this post is a day late due to how much I had to do with both things ending) but I had a lot of fun along the way!
The final episode of Voltron: Legendary Defender, "The End is the Beginning", starts off right were the last one ended, with Honerva and team Voltron facing off in their city size mechs. Honerva fires the first shot, not at Voltron but at Zarkon and little Lotor, fortunately Voltron blocks it with their sword. Honerva then attacks the good guys, and Keith correctly determines that two city size mechs fighting in the middle of a city is not a good idea, so they lure Honerva out to the countryside.
Tumblr media
Keith: “We interrupt this episode with a scene from Gundam.”
After trading several blows, and almost smashing Honerva through a mountain, Honerva stabs Voltron with her wing blades and escapes out of another reality rift. Team Voltron gives chase and finds themselves outside of all realities, which is represented by a giant web of glowing lines.
Tumblr media
Lance: “Odd, I figured the outside of the universe would be blue.”
Honerva then goes extra crazy and starts blasting off all the branches of reality, which has a side effect of staggering team Voltron with images of all the lives lost in each reality. When there’s only one reality left, presumably the one they’re in, Voltron manages to fight back, but Honerva’s mech is just too strong and she goes to ram them into the last reality string. In a last ditch effor all the paladins scream at once (since that actually works most of the time).
Tumblr media
All: “AAAAHHHHHH!!!” Lego Batman: “You guys really get into this show...”
And the result of this is the already city size Atlas-Voltron forming a ridiculous jet pack the size of a small planet. They use this to force Honerva into the core of reality.
There, without any of their mechs and only the paladins and Honerva around (no clue what happened to the rest of the Atlast crew), they all have a little heart to heart. The paladins plead with Honerva to undo all the damage that she’s done, but she declares that if she can’t have a happy life then no one should. Allura then does her mind meld trick and shows Honerva that she actually did have a happy life, with friends and loved ones, before all this Quintessence power madness. Honerva finally sees reason, but says it’s too late to fix the destroyed realities, but Allura knows of one way it would work. Problem is that it would take both her and Honerva sacrificing themselves to reboot the universe.
In a really touching moment, Allura says goodbye to all the paladins and gives a farewell kiss to Lance (also giving him Altean cheek marks). she then goes off into a bright light with Honerva, where they join up with their deceased families.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Uh, I’m not crying! you’re crying!”
The pladins then awaken back in their own reality with the Atlas and lions separated, and the Blue Lion empty. Everything is back how it was, with the exception that Altea and the Galra home world are no longer destroyed (Allura took some creative liberties with the reboot).
Flash forward to one year later and Keith is addressing all Galra (and is space wolf is huge!), telling them that the need to stop all this hostility and start putting that energy towards peace. Over on the Atlas, Hunk is hosting a diplomatic dinner, using his cooking to broker peace between three warring alien races (with Shay and Romelle on his cooking staff). Meanwhile, one earth Pidge and Sam are putting together a Robot named Chip (obviously based on the Vehicle Force character) when her mother tells her that a warp is ready for her. Lastly, Lance is on Altea, telling a bunch of school children about how Allura saved all of reality in front of a huge statue of her.
That evening all the Paladins, with Shiro and Coran, meet together for a dinner at the base of Allura‘s statue, to catch up with each other and reminiscing about Allura. Later that night all the lions light up and blast off into space on their own.
The episode ends with a photo of the group at the statue, which transitions to another photo of them all together at the same spot many years later.
Tumblr media
Pidge: “Aww, alt universe me grew up to be a real cutie!”
It’s then followed by captioned shot of what everyone went on to do:
Tumblr media
Hunk: “I would so totally watch this version of Vehicle Force!”
Tumblr media
Allura: “Heck, I’d even watch a Hunk Based sci-fi action cooking show!”
Tumblr media
Lance: “Not sure if i would be down for a Lance based slice of life on a farm...”
Tumblr media
Keith: “Coming to Netflix: ‘Krolia: Political Space Mom’!”
Tumblr media
Sven: “Woo! tubes of green food goo for everyone!”
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “That’s not Keith, who the heck is this guy?!” Hunk: “I think he was on the Atlas bridge? Maybe had a couple of lines?”
Finally, there is a post credits shot of the lions heading for an Allura shaped nebula.
Tumblr media
Allura: “I am your god now! Bring me your lions!”
So that’s Voltron, a great end to a great series!
Now, what’s with this new she-ra...

Pt. 78: Shot down
Lego Voltron is nearly done and Honerva wins... kinda.
Just like with the Red Lion, the Green Lion’s transformation is just a simple matter of tucking in the legs.
Tumblr media
Pidge: “Everyone lift!” Lego Batman: “Don’t stand on it while lifting!”
With the arm snapped in place, only thing left is adding the finishing touches tomorrow!
Tumblr media
Sven: “Voltron is now fully armed!” Keith: “No, it needs its sword.”
The second to last episode, "The Zenith", starts off right where the last one left off, with Honerva’s reality warp starting to open. The lions struggle to stop it, but there’s still two white mechs defending it.
When Honerva’s mech merged with Lotor’s last episode it was hard to get a sense of the sale of it, but when the Atlas transforms to join the fight it shows that it’s rather large...
Tumblr media
Hunk: “If there’s ever a season 9, the’re going to have to go to world sized mechs to top this...”
With the two titans punching each other, the paladins finally have a chance to form Voltron and take on the white mechs. They’re surprisingly helped by the third white mech, the one that rebelled (apparently it was only its arm that exploded), and manage to take out the remaining two without harming the pilots. Voltron makes a charge to destroy the warp portal but they are just a second too late and reality breaks open, letting Honerva go through.
While Voltron could going into the rift after her, the Atlas can’t since it doesn't have any of the trans-dimensional meteorite metal, and there’s no way Voltron could beat Honerva’s mech on its own. Luckily, Hunk’s Balmeran girlfriend shows up just in time, along with all the Balmera in the galaxy (kinda confusing that the giant space entity and the being living on it share the same name). The  Balmera then cast the same spell Honerva used to merge her mech to Lotor’s to merge the Atlas and Voltron together. The resulting mech (Atron? Voltlas?) not only gets a more angluar and badass look, but can now travel realties after Honerva.
As they go through the rift, they find that it wasn’t a straight shot to Honerva’s ideal reality, but instead she blasted a hole through several alliterative realities to get there. Voltron’s original reality is in bad shape with just one hole in it, but these alt realities have both an entry and exit hole, destablizing them exponentially faster. To top it off, all these holes are located around Altea, so Honerva is destroying her home world many times over just for her happy ending.
Meanwhile in the original reality, Coran has the idea to use the now abandoned temple ship to slow down the destruction to their reality caused by the rift. He sends an Altea pilot to each of the Balmera to focus all their energy to power the temple. Soon after, Krolia arrives with the Galra fleet and they also lend all power they can to keeping the rift stable.
As Atlas-Voltron travels through several crumbling realities, they are suddenly sucker-punched by Honerva’s mech. After a massive scale fight, she manages to knock them to the ground and then drains all of their energy. So Keith, for the 50th time in the series, has to give a motivational speech about how they can’t give up and they need to push on no matter what. Since Altean tech apparently runs on motivational speeches, this once again works to charge up the super mech and they blast off after Honerva as the reality they are in shrinks. Yet, they are again one second too late and the rift closes, leaving them in a reality void.
Back with Coran, the Galra fleet has used up all of its power and the Balmera are nearly done for. Then suddenly there is an explosion of light from the rift that envelops them.
Honerva finally reaches her ideal reality, which she apparently gave a lot of though to. Not only is this a reality where there was no war, she and Zarkon got married and had Lotor, and everyone is still young, but also one where that reality’s Honerva had died a few years previously, allowing her to take her place. Zarkon is rather confused, but over joyed to see his dead wife alive again, there’s a celebration and together they go see Lotor.
Little kid lotor doesn't buy it for a moment.
He knows that his mother is dead, so he instantly distrusts Honerva, denouncing her as his mother, just like the original Lotor did. Zarkon tries to smooth things out, but then, impossibly, Atlas-Voltron shows up. Having his dead wife and two city size mechs appear on the same day is just too much weirdness for him and he sides with Lotor, ordering Honerva to be arrested.
Tumblr media
Sven: “It’s always awkward when you destroy dozens of realities just to have your ex throw you in jail.”
With her own chance for a happy end snatched away from her, the episode ends with Honerva teleporting to her mech and declaring that she’ll destroy all realities.

Pt 77: Arms Race
It’s the Red Lion’s turn on Voltron, and Honerva’s master plan starts moving.
The “transformation” for the arms is rather simple, equating to just tucking in the lion’s legs.
Tumblr media
Keith: “Is it ironic that we are moving the legs to turn it into an arm?”  Lego Batman: “... no.”
After that, it’s just a matter of clicking the arm into place.
Tumblr media
Keith: Ok, just one more to go!”
The third to last episode of the series, "Uncharted Regions", starts off with Honerva realizing that team Voltron were inside her mind and knows her plan. She goes onto the bridge of the temple ship and commands them to get out of warp, where they’ve been hiding the past few episodes. The Atlas is able to detect them leaving warp, but with Allura still unconscious there’s no way to get to their location (the trouble of having your whole FTL travel system tied to one person). Honerva then gets inside the four eyed mech, which has massive purple crystal wings, and begins looking into alternate realities.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “Mercy’s new Legendary skin is kinda over the top.”
On the Atlas, Keith holds a briefing of their current situation, which is rather bleak since without Allura they not only can’t warp they also can’t form Voltron even if they could get to Honerva. They then start coming up with alternative plans so they will be ready when Allura does wake up. Krolia takes Warlord Lahn to try and recruit a Galra fleet in the area, while Slav, pidge, and her father work on boosting the Atlas’ main cannon, and Hunk, Coran and Romelle head for a small Balmera for energy crystals to power it. After the meeting Keith gives lace a pep talk that things will work out and that Allura will wake up.
On the bridge, they detect that Honerva keeps warping to various points in the galaxy and that they have a long range scouting team in the area she just warped to. The scouts spot Honerva in her black mech, but are then quickly killed by one of the white mechs. Having apparently found what she was looking for, Honerva orders the temple ship to warp to Altea.
Fortunately, Allura finally wakes up and is able to warp the Atlast to the temple ship, which is guarded by three white mechs. Lance, Pidge, and Keith go to fight the mechs along with the Atlas while Allura waits to warp Hunk back from the  Balmera. Just as Hunk gives the signal to open the warp, Honerva remotely knocks out Allura and takes control of all the Altean pilots on the Atlas. The  Alteans use their super strength to storm the bridge and expose the crystal powering the Atlas (the one made from the old castle ship). Honerva then draws out the power of the crystal, and the Alteans along with it, to power up a ginat magic spell. One of the white mech pilots, the same that saw Lotor’s team killing, finally objects to sacrificing more Alteans and attacks the temple ship, stopping the power drain.
Allura wakes up and warps Hunk in, along with the whole Balmera. With all five lions in one place and all the power they want for the new Atlas cannon, it looks like the tide is turning, but Honerva has other ideas. She shoots the crystal wings of her mech into the Balmera and drains the power directly out of it to power the spell.
Tumblr media
Sven: “Well, that turned around quickly!”
As the spell forms, all the Lions try to attack Honerva’s mech, but she knocks them away easily. Even the rebelling white mech pilot tries to fight back, but  Honerva blows her up. With the spell completes, Honerva’s mech fuses with Lotor’s mech to become one super mech, and its wings start spinning to open a reality portal.

Pt. 76: We need to go deeper
Voltron gets half assembled, and the paladins delve farther into Honerva ‘s mind.
Next stage in Voltron’s construction is to pop off his shoulder and rotate them around so the Lion’s feet are facing the other way.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “I sometime dislocate my shoulder, but never this bad!”
With the shoulders orted and the legs straight, it’s finally time to add the Yellow and Blue Lions!
Tumblr media
Sven: “You know, This thing may be kinda large...”
As the tenth episode, "Knights of Light, Part 2", starts, the paladins find that int inside of Honerva’s mind is being represented by various places that she lived. Starting off on the Galra home world, they head for a temple and along the way King Alfor stresses again to Allura the dangers of using the Quintessence creature to get closer to Honerva, but she’s still set on doing it. Right before they could open the temple, there’s an energy blast and the paladins are attacked by a mental construct of the first robeast they ever fraught, only this one is more powerful. The original paladins decide to stay behind to fight the robeast, in their own versions of their lions, while the other head deeper into Honerva’s mind.
Next mental location is represented by the temple on Oriande, where the paladins see flashes from her past: as a small child, going to school, graduating, working with Zarkon, eventually marrying him, discovering the Quintessence creature, and starting the war. It ends with Honerva killing the original paladins and absorbing them as Quintessence, explaining why their souls were trapped in her mind. This prompts Lance to again ask Allura to stop the plan and get rid of the creature inside her, since it’s clear it’s what caused the war, but Keith argues that they’ve come too far to stop now.
Next they come to a more literal representation of Honerva’s mind, with webs of what looks like brain and nerve cells all around them. As the paladins cut their way through the nerves, they experience Honerva’s more recent memories, the last one being a glimpse of what’s really left of Lotor...
Tumblr media
Lance: “Yikes! Three years soaking in pure Quintessence really does a number on the skin!”
The paladins then find themselves in what looks like the Quintessence realm and are suddenly bombarded by what appears to be Honerva current thoughts. As they struggle against the pounding madness, Allura taps into the Quintessence creature for power and then links hands with the other paladins to share that power. Again, not the ideal plan, but it manages to work and they are brought to Honerva’s innermost thoughts, which looks to be an alternate verson of Altea. Tricky thing is that it’s being guarded by Zarkon in his giant “armour” mech.
The paladins summon Voltron, since they can just to that in the astral plane, and start to fight, but Zarkon’s mech is far too powerful for them. After betting tossed arounf for a bit, the orginal paladins return and super charge Voltron, letting them easily beat Zarkon. The mech then dissolves into the Black Lion and a young version of Zarkon from when he joined the Paladins. He happily greets the original paladins and mistakes Allura for her mother, but she’s not having any of this innocent version of Zarkon. She rushes up and grabs his head, forcing in the memories of all the horrible things that the real him did.
Tumblr media
Keith: “Oh, is there where she takes away his firebeinding?”
Faced with all the horrible mistakes that the real him made, the astral verson agrees to help and points out that the moon looming in the sky is from the Galra home world, not Altea. His Black Lion then fires on the moon, destroying it and revealing Honerva’s ultimate goal: living happily with Zarkon and raising Lotor together. Pidge deduces that Honerva plans on finding an alternate reality where they lived happily and going there, possibly destroying all other realities in the process.
Honerva must have finally realized that they were snooping about in her head, so she forces her mind closed to seal them in. All 10 paladins then work together to form Voltron and the blazing sword to bust through the barrier and return to the real universe (at least the ones with bodies still). The episode ends with the paladins waking up right where they started, except for Allura, who is unresponsive.

Pt. 75: Mind games
The Black Lion comes apart, and Allura has a plan so crazy it might just be crazy.
The first major step in the transformation, other than getting the wings and tail out of the way, is removing the legs so they can be reattached vertically (since they can’t rotate).
Tumblr media
Sven: “Watch out! I don’t want to be ‘injured’ again!”
With both legs reattached, and the feet straightened, the Black Lion isn’t in the most flattering of poses.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “I believe that’s called ‘The Downward Lion’ position...”
It looks like we’re in for a huge 5 part season finale, since this episode, "Knights of Light, Part 1", goes full tilt and dosen’t let up.
The episode starts with Allura in a black void but then the sound of Coran and Lance’s voices brights her out of it. She tells them that she absorbed the dark  Quintessence creature, and they both clearly think that it was the worst possible idea, but Allura will stop at nothing to end Honerva.
They hold a meeting with all the paladins, with Shiro and Coran, to discuss the plan that Allura comes up with. The Quintessence creature links Allura to Honerva in some mystical way, and Allura wants to track her down through that link by the paladins entering the astral plan through Voltron. Everyone agrees that the plan is insanely dangerous, but also that they don’t have any other options.
They enter the astral plane and after spending a bit of time on how trippy it is and how they feel like they’re part of the thoughts of the universe, they come to a giant black planetoid that represents Honerva’s mind. They wonder how to get inside, but that’s quickly answered when dark energy arms reach up and drag everyone but Keith into isolated spaces. Within these spaces they are attacked by glowing dark humanoids sporting assorted weapons. They all try to fight them off separately, while also trying to call out to each other, but the humoids are too relentless. Eventually Allura has enough and draws on the dark power of the  Quintessence creature.
Tumblr media
Allura: “Oh, dear, that is not a good look for you...”
Fortunately, the Blue Lion then shows up and snaps her out of it with a roar. In all the other spaces the respective lions also show up and to break apart the black mass covering the attacking humanoids, revealing the first Voltron paladins (King Alfor and his crew, not the 1984 characters). The lions then force the old paladins to remember who they are and shows them what has happened with the current Paladins.
It turns out that in their final battle, Honerva managed to somehow trap the souls of the original paladins inside herself (minus Zarkon of course, which is why Keith was excluded), and the astral proximity of Voltron and the new paladins drew them out. Finally uncorrupted, and caught up to speed with everything, each of the original paladins express how they approve of each of heir new counterparts (King Alfor even approves of Lance dating his daughter). They are then all teleported with the lions to the surface of the Honerva planet, where Keith has been bashing the ground to get at them the whole time.
Allura then has a flash of Honerva’s view point (but oddly in 3rd person), and sees that she is building that four eyed mech from last episode’s vision. Allura tells everyone that they must go deeper into Honerva’s mind to stop her, and everyone shares the same “this is a really bad idea...” look again.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Eventually someone will have to pump the breaks on these insane plans...”
The episode ends with Allura opening up a warp gate, teleporting the nine paladins and five lions into the depths of Honerva’s mind.

Pt. 74: Well, that was a little over the top
Another leg done and an almost bi-polar episode.
Next up is tucking the the Blue Lion’s legs and tail in just like with the Yellow Lion.
Tumblr media
Sven: “No, you can keep the lion, I insist!”
After locking it vertically it’s on to the more detailed task of converting the Black Lion.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Ok, and everyone lift!”
"Clear Day" is he the eight episode of season eight and is about 80% silly fluff and 20% super dark.
The episode starts off with Allura talking with one of the Altean mech pilots, he says that he doesn't have much time before Honerva figures out he’s cooperating with her. After barely getting out a vague warning, Honerva remotely kills him like she did with Luka. Allura then senses something about his death and magical removes squiggly black space thing from him, which they manage to trap in a medical cylinder. The space thing unnerves Allura and she feels like it’s trying to get into her mind.
Over on the bridge, Shiro is in communication with one of the planets from that stupid Coran brain-worm episode. The planet has only one day a year that the surface isn’t blasted with sand storm, so they have a big festival on that day called “clear day”. With all the stress of Honerva bringing Lotor back, Shiro figures that the crew needs some R&R so they stop by.
While everyone else heads off to the celebration, Allura (still unnerved by the space thing) decides to stay on the Atlas. Lance wants to stay with her, but she tells him to go have fun bring her back a prize. When he reaches the planet, Pidge and Hunk agree to help win something for Allura.
Yet back on the Atlas, Allura wakes up to see Lance still in her room and admiring the Altean plant that Pidge’s mom cultivated last episode. Lance then disappears and Lotor appears in her room. Allura tries to attack him, but her weapon passes right through. Lotor says he wants to kill Honerva just as much as she does, although he still calls her Haggar. When Allura says that she lacks the power to stop Honerva, Lotor says that they already have all the power they need. Allura then finds herself in the med-bay, in front of the tank with the space creature. Lotor goes on to explain that the creature is from the Quintessence field and that it’s the source of Haggar’s power, and that Allura could have that power too if she merges with the creature. Allura then reaches out and touches the tank.
Tumblr media
Allura: “Ooh! I want universe destroying powers too!”
Next thing she knows, Allura is with her mother on Altea, and her mother says she’s just in time to save them all. Galra ships appear and start blasting the city, but Allura is now in one of the white mechs. She drains the Quintessence from the planet and uses it to destroy the fleet, but she then sees the damage she caused to the environment as her mother turns to dust. She then wakes up, relieved that it was just a dream, but the Altean plan by her bed is now wilted.
Back with the happy part of the episode, Pidge racks up a high score on a Coran themed wack-a-mole game, Shiro enters into an arm wrestling competition, Coran competes for the best Yalmor call, Hunk and Keith get suck on a version of the “It’s a small world” ride, and Lance tries to win a plush Blue Lion from a very rigged carnival game.
Pidge tries to cash in the Whack-a-Coran tickets she won for a bedazzled mining helmet for, but it turns out she needs a lot more tickets. So she enters into an intense negotiation with her mother for more game tokens in exchange for posing for an embarrassing family photo. Meanwhile Shiro is dominating the arm wrestling competition and soon makes it to the finals.
In another harsh gear shift, back on the ship Allura is standing in front of the tank with the Quintessence creature, while visions of Lotor and Lance urge her to free it. She rejects them, but then her mother appears again and repeats that she can save them, she then turns into Honerva and tells Allura to join her. Allura opens the tank and the creature inters into her chest. There’s then a shot of a mech with four eyes and a horn activating, Lotor saying “follow me!”, and then Voltron with some planets being wiped out with a white light.
Back to the “It’s a Small World” ride!
Keith gets tired of waiting and breaks out of the ride, with Hunk lamenting they didn’t wait to see how it ended. They then catch up with Coran just as he wins the grand prize for his epic Yalmor impression. Lance meanwhile, after losing the game, has been autographing plush Blue Lions in order to get one of his own, and Pidge managed to get the blinged out helmet. Everyone then meets up to watch Shiro take on the reigning arm-wrestling champion, who happens to be the warden from the episode where they met Slav. Turns out that he’s actually glad to have encountered the paladins since it got him out of the Galra empire and able to focus on things that mattered to him, like arm-wrestling and his pet Laika. Shiro then wins in an overly dramatic fashion.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “When did this switch to a sports anime?”
Then just so they don’t go out on a happy note, the episode ends with Pidge’s father finding Allura unconscious in the med-bay next to the now empty tank.

Pt. 73: Animated found footage?
The lego build gets a leg up and the episode goes for a unique format.
Going back where we began, the Voltron assembly starts with the Yellow lion and getting it into leg mode.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “Ok Boy, it’s finally time for you do do your stuff!”
Thanks to the clever designing in the construction, the head easily rotates into position and snaps in place. It even has a segment that extends out the back to give extra support.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Well, that’s one down...”
The seventh episode of the season, "Day Forty-Seven", is a rather stark change of pace after the action oriented "Genesis”. The episode focuses on Kinkade from the B team documenting the daily life on the Atlas with a little round floating drone camera, and the whole episode (almost) is from the camera’s perspective.
The episode starts off on the morning of the 47th day since Atlas left earth (hence the title) with a little introduction by Kinkade as he starts his day (Leifsdottir still snoring away in her bunk in the background). It’s not long through before Rizavi hijacks the documentary in attempts to portray the live on the Atlas as more exiting.
She first interviews Pidge on an upcoming mission to retrieve the Altean from one of the drained white mechs from the previous episode. With the explination kinda dry, she ask Keith about the dangers of the mission, but his explanation is interrupted when Hunk walks into frame. Hunk explains that he just wanted some opinions on a new recipe he’s working on, but before the video can segue into a cooking show the Atlas is attacked.
With all the shaking, the camera falls to the ground and lays there as everyone runs off to the respective positions. A short time later Pidge’s dog, Bae Bae, picks the camera up in his mouth and carries it up to the bridge.
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “It’s official, this show has really gone to the dogs.”
We get a dog’s mouth view of a giant tentacle monster battling Voltron and the B team’s fighter jets. After the creature blasts the Atlas with an energy beam Bae Bae drops the camera to run and hide. The Space Mice then roll the camera down an air vent and it’s stopped at engineering by the gravity generator malfunctioning. There’s then an announcement that the Atlas is about to transform and the, now floating, camera gets knocked about until it’s picked up again by Bae Bae. This time the camera is facing the other way, so we’re treated to an all black screen with the sound of a dog breathing until Pidge’s mom takes the camera out of his mouth (got to save animation budget some where). There’s a final warning about the transformation and the camera is left floating by a window watching the fight with the monster untill the battery dies.
Some time later Kinkade retrieves the camera and recharges it, and he gets to film a little more slice of life stuff before Rizavi hijacks the documentary again. She first tries to interview Kolivan about a Blade of Marmora mission, but his discription of the events are so dry that she suggests getting some one more exciting. Quick cut to Coran being a bit too exciting as he’s recounting the battle hey just had with the tentacle monster.
Next they head to engineering where Pidge’s father and Slav are repairing the gravity. Things don’t go so well since Slav is still getting used to the earth writing system used on the Atlas, causing the gravity to go a little funny. They then switch to Pidge’s mother (Pidge’s family are in a lot of this episode) in the botany bay. She starts talking about a formerly extinct Altean flower that she’s cultivating for Allura and all the kinds of fertilizer they use, but then Rizavi tries to make the interview “extreme” with narration, dramatic camera angles, and lots of quick cutting. Fortunately it’s cut short by Hunk showing up and asking about some yeast he needs for his baking project.
After that, the Paladins go on the mission mentioned earlier to retrieve the Altean pilot from a drained white mech and Rizavi secretly films the video stream from the mission as they watch it in the meeting room. Things don’t got smoothly when the mech’s head separates and starts flying around and shooting at them, but the Atlas manages to shoot it down. Then for some reason the scene cuts to a view from Pidge’s helmet as they find the pod with the Altean in it. This is kinda weirs since it’s the only part of the episode not from the camera’s perspective and there’s no reason or explanation for the switch.
Cutting back to the camera, the pilot is seen being escorted by guards and  Kinkade mentions that this is the sixth such pilot that they recovered. They they sneak into the security room to record the interrogation, but the pilot stonewalls  Romelle and Allura, prompting the later to leave in frustration. Rizavi then grabs the camera and runs out into the hall in time to catch Lance comforting Allura, but Kinkade grabs the camera back right before they kiss to respect their privacy.
Tumblr media
Allura: “Awww... I wanted to watch that!”
After short interviews with Romelle, who wishes she could get through to the other Alteans, and Allura, who worries that Honerva will find them before they find her, Hunk reveals what he’s been working on. He’s managed to recreate a traditional Altean desert and plans to give it to the pilots in hopes that it will relax them and make them think of happier times. The plan works and the pilots express their regret that they never got to see their home world, hunk then invites Coran and Allura in to talk about Altea with them.
The episode then closes off with Kinkade announcing that it’s midnight and day 47 is done.

Pt. 72: Also known as the Mega Drive
The Blazing Sword is finished and things don’t go well for team Voltron (or the universe).
With the addition of the spiky things at the blade’s tip, the Blazing Sword finally get’s its distinctive look. Work is also started on the handle of the sword.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “This is more than i can handle”  Lego batman: “Get a grip, or i’ll pommel you.”
With the last details added to the pommel and the guard, the Blazing Sword is finally finished (with 4 pieces left over). All that’s left now is assembling the lions into Voltron!
Tumblr media
Lego Batman: “Well, that construction was surprisingly uneventful.”
The sixth episode of the season, "Genesis", starts with everyone on the Atlas in a briefing to discuss what Honerva is up to. Apparently she sent mechs to planets across the galaxy and they’re just chilling out, but then in the middle of the meeting the mechs activate and start draining the Quintessence from the planets. Allura then realizes that Honerva is going to use the cubes she stole (from that unfortunate Pidge episode) to amplify and focus all the Quintessence from the planets into Oriande, basically making a galaxy wide magic circle.
While Matt and the freedom fighters head off to evacuate the planets that are being drained, the Atlas and Voltron fly off to Oriande. When they get to the white hole, they find it guarded by white mechs, so the Atlas transforms to fend them off while Voltron blasts past into the white hole just as all the beams of Quintessence converge.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “Not sure what that is doing, but it’s likely not good...”
The huge bean of Quintessence goes into the Altean temple and super charges Honerva, she then uses that power to sacrifice the the white lion guardian and opens up a huge warp gate. As Voltron races towards her, two more white mechs stop their progress.
Back with the Atlas, the white mechs are doing that cheap size enlarge trick to pound on the giant mech, so Shiro sends out the B team in their jets to pinpoint strike the mechs. In all the chaos Zethrid, Ezor, and their Olkari engineer break out of the brig and head for the bridge to plead with shiro to let them help. The engineer manages to rig up a bunch of holographic duplicates of the Atlas to distract the mechs, which gives the fighters and opening to destroy one of them.
Back on Oriande, Voltron is fighting both white mech at once, and thigns are not going well. To make things worse, the gate Honerva opened is warping time, space, and all of reality. In one last massive blast of energy, that knocks out the Atlas and leaves the planets with white mechs completely drained, Lotor’s mech emerges from the gate. It then proceeds to beat down Voltron so savagely that even one of the white mech pilots think it’s not right.
Voltron gets smashes back into the individual lions and Allura makes a run on foot (well, a fly on jet pack) to attack Honerva. Lotor’s mech spots this and prepares to fire, but Lance in the Red Lion charges at the mech to stop it. Yet one of the white mech pilots then swoops in behind Lotor’s back to knock the lion away.
You would think that Lotor would appreciate this assist, but nope...
Tumblr media
Allura: “Zombie Lotor seems to be really sensitive about personal space...”
Lotor’s mech then goes in the slice up the Red Lion, but Honerva commands it to hold still. Allura dives to attack attack Honerva but is caught in a black void that temporarily stops time. Within the void, Honerva tells her that only she can stop Lotor from killing Lance, so when time resumes Allura stops her attack just short.
Honerva and Lotor’s mech then escape in the temple, which is also a ship (did the Alteans ever build anything that didn’t transform?), while all of Oriande starts fallign apart. Allura gets back into the Blue Lion and everyone just barely escapes back to the Atlas and warps away just as the white hole collapses completely.
The episode ends with Allura saying how every reality is kinda screwed now.

Pt. 71: Taking the ‘mellow’ out of melodrama
The Voltron sword gets detailed and the episode goes a little over the top.
A bit of a jump in the construction of the sword(which I just found is called the ‘Blazing Sword’), adding blue spiky bits to the hilt and metallic chrome strips to the blade.
Tumblr media
Sven, Keith, Allura: “Ooh, shiny...” Lego Batman: “Ok, that’s the last time we’re doing that gag.”
Next is a bit less of a leap with just putting some red dot and connector bits on the hilt.
Tumblr media
Hunk: “That’s it?” Lego Batman: “We have to stretch this construction to 13 episodes somehow.”
The fifth episode of season 8, "The Grudge" (not the gurgling Japanese ghosts, unfortunately), starts off with the B team on the Atlas chatting about pets and Lance’s sister Veronica tries to bring Acxa (who showed up suddenly 2 eps ago) into the conversation. Acxa mentions how Narti had the immortal space cat Kova, but then Lotor killed her and they had to abandon the cat and how the universe sucks. Kinda putting a damper on the conversation.
Up on the bridge, the paladins inform Shiro about what they found out last episode (taking 20 seconds instead of 20 minutes) and they they tracked several more white mechs originating from Oriande, the Altean temple in the white hole. They then arrange to meet up with the Atlas to discuss the info and form a plan.
Meanwhile, in the ship’s cafeteria, Veronica invites Acxa to sit with the rest of the B team. They try to engage in small talk, but everything just brings up the terrible things Acxa did for Lotor or the Galra empire. It also isn’t helped when Leifsdottir very bluntly mentions just how awkward things are and that it’s likely from Acxa being Galra.
Tumblr media
Sven: “Ah, Leifsdottir, never change.”
Back on the bridge, Shiro gets a message from Keith they they are having some technical troubles and will get to the rendezvous point a bit late. It then cuts to the paladins arriving at a planet and wondering why the Atlas changed the meeting point. It takes no time at all for the reveal that this was a trap by pirates that were sending mock signals to both sides. The pirates, in a Galra ship, then pin the lions down with the same gravity beam that Ezor and Zethrid used to trap them at the start of season 7.
The paladins have to ditch the lions and escape on foot, but are then tracked by a killer drone that they just barely take out. It then turns out that the drone was targeting the Altean tech in their armor and weapons, so they have to ditch the in order to elude more drones. Trouble is that the planet has a high CO2 level and low oxygen, so they could only survive for a few hours without their armor any ways. They also split up, with Keith keeping his gear and acting as a decoy going one way and the rest going another. The pirates, who seem to be a bunch of characters with grudges against the paladins (like that bounty hunter that Pidge and Matt beat up), go off to hunt them down on foot.
Back on the Atlas, Veronica explains that she just wants to get to know who Acxa is now, not all the things she’s done in the past. They also get another message form the pirates pretending to be Keith, who says Lance is solving the techical problem, which tips them off immediately that they’re something funny going on. The Atlas crew quickly discover the trick and rush towards the planet that the paladins are one.
After getting split off from the others, Pidge and Hunk manage to construct some ewok style traps (in a ridiculously short amount of time) and capture the two pirates that were chasing them (including the previously mentioned bounty hunter). Meanwhile, Lance and Allura are ambushed by another set of pirates, but Allura uses her colour changing ability to blend into the environment and then surprise attacks the pirates with her insane strength. The Atlas then shows up and shoots down the pirate’s ship with an EMP blast. This only leaves the pirate leader, who turns out to be Zethrid (with a huge burn scar on her face), hunting down Keith.
When Zethrid does find Keith, she proceeds to kick the crap out of him, claiming he took everything from her and that it’s the paladin's fault she she lost Ezor. The Atlas pilots then show up and Zethrid holds Keith hostage, over an active volcano, so they drop Acxa off near by to try to talk her down.
Since last time we saw of Ezor and Zethrid was in season 7, where the lions blew the heck out of their ship, I figured that Ezor was dead. But Acxa then reveals that Ezor just dumped Zethrid’s rage filled crazy butt because of said rage filled craziness. This all plays out in the most over the top shouting match about honor, anger, revenge, and ‘letting go of the past’ I've seen since any Zuko episode of The Last Air Bender.
Tumblr media
Keith: “From my point of view the Jedi are evil!”
But all this shouting doesn't work and Zethrid goes to shoot Acxa, but Veronica snipes her first and Keith stops her from falling into the volcano. Later, with all the pirates locked up in Atlas’ brig, Acxa tells Zethrid that she still hasn’t given up on her and she’s not the only one. Ezor (with an eye patch) then literally appears out of nowhere (which is a power of her’s, but there’s no explanation of how she got there)!
