Sometimes the Lemfest pinatas are so sturdy that it takes 12 full-grown men to get the candy guts flowing. At Lem-Eleven (Lemfest 2011), after 20 mins of civilised pinata punching we just wanted them sweets in our bellies, and the pinata to do what good pinatas do - die in a bruised and dignified way. This video footage shows what happens when Lem11's pinata (a surgeon sun with lemon drum) refuses to die - we take the liberty of ignoring standard pinata conventions such as the use of blindfolds and three swings per person.

LemSix. Melbourne's Sixth Annual LemFest!

Yes boys and girls, it's back for its 6th year! LemFest, a celebration of spring and lemons!

This year promises to be as lemony as ever, so start getting excited! There will be games (pin the leaf on the lemon, bobbing for lemons, who wants to be a lemonaire), the bake-off is back with some very yellow prizes on offer, and of course the pinata! 

Dress lemony and bring lemony treats to share. 

All are welcome, so please pass on the invite to anyone you like. Especially if they like lemons.

Lemfest officially began in 2007 when the sole lemon was picked from Lemmy, our dwarf lemon tree, to celebrate the start of Spring. Lemmy has battled a series of tough blows over the years, being neglected, malnourished, and even surviving several years of wasp wart. We are pleased to say that Lemmy is looking healthy, flowering, and we hope he will start producing more than a single annual lemon in future years. We would like to thank the people who have watered Lemmy, treated his wasp warts and other infections, fertilized him with urine, and loved him back to health.
