Dan Feng x Fem!Reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: The reader has a default name, OOC, mentioned blood, violence. (This is a work of fanfiction, events are not aligned or relevant to the original work)
Word count: 2k5
Summary: He met you on a drizzling day when hydrangea fully bloomed on its field. Amidst the sea of mild pastel petals, Dan Feng never thought the flowery domain that intertwined your fate was the precise thing withered with you. They said he was a dragon, a hero, a sinner, but never a person with love, hatred, sorrow, or joy like everyone else in this world. However, it was a demi-truth. He committed the cardinal sin because of you.
Note: Special chapter for 1st Lunar New Year <3 This chapter was supposed to be a whole text, yet I was immersed in writing and milking the last ounce of my grey matter into it, which resulted in unexpectedly long. Therefore, I broke it down into two posts, I hope you enjoy my story. Do you like...depression?

The structure of the Lament dungeon was an infinite labyrinth that used to imprison thousands of enemies in Denizen of Abundance I. For a long time of being deserted, it remained intact, and death besieged every corner. On the path leading to Reed Hill, Huang Yuan usually witnessed numerous peculiar phenomena even though this underground route was the secure way. Black and White, Light and Shadow alternated altogether; he nearly could not identify daylight or nighttime anymore. Some sections were pitch-black and filled with freaking noises, while others were graciously dim with unsourced lights. If an ordinary individual lost their tracks in this maze, they would ultimately be insane. Despite Huang Yuan being free of fighting, taking this path was uneasy and spiritually challenging.
"After turning right to the upcoming cross-section, I will detect a ladder leading to the ground." - He monologued when double-checking the map. Just as Huang Yuan gradually reached his destination, an ambrosial scent spread from the exit that drove the reality merged with a bizarre delusional space.
"Welcome to my Real Illusion Field, Vice-Captain Bai Lin." - A melodic voice singsong from voidness that soon enough followed by a splendid silhouette. His irises squeezed when he realized the acquainted face.
"You can call me Lady Olennia. If only I knew the Vice-Captain is such a handsome mister, I would doll up even more."
"No need to be complicated because you are already brilliantly gorgeous." He commended with head hanging low to use the fluffy bangs concealing his maniacal smile that bloomed on the lips' corner. While the mysterious identity immersed in extravagant bliss, Huang Yuan never felt this grateful as the Yaoqing's Authorities hid the Devourers' personal information. Blood boiled with vengeance coursing through his veins since that face belonged to one of his members named Linglan, who sacrificed in the Hundred Butterflies labyrinth.
Three years ago, Devourers of Abominations received the expedition order to support the army of Glamoth to fend off the never-ending waves of raging insectoids. However, they were misled and trapped in a maze full of butterflies. Their pollen caused hallucinations and silently acuated the Berserk state. In that emergency, the summit sniper Linglan, who had a distinguished instinct to discover their boss concealed in disguise, fought with it to stall time for Huang Yuan and the rest to open the exit. Her bullet promptly penetrated its head, which drove a shriek that echoed all the vicinity, yet Linglan also got pinned to the wall like a specimen by a sharp trident. She only told the team to leave her behind and escape the labyrinth. Before fleeting, Huang Yuan saw a humanoid glimpse approaching Linglan with a deep hole in its face, carefully tracing its nail along the sniper's skin.
Judging by the manifestation of Lady Olennia, she had to be ranked at least Boss Grade. According to this complete personification and developed intellect additionally, the opposite foe even gained an exclusive competency such as shifting reality and fluent communication. Olennia slowly sauntered toward Huang Yuan and started caressing his facial lines, her iron nails scratching the delicate membrane unknowingly.
"Let us play a game. You are at liberty to leave if you win; reversely, this invincible Vice-Captain will serve under my command. I won't kill you because I already like you. Plus, we are allies after all."
Tumblr media
You mindfully moved the weapon container out of the transportation and figured out the route to ship devices punctually. Surprisingly, there was another layer wrapped around the protection gear, and it dismissed as you laid your finger. Was it the last effort of Zi Wen at the moment he assimilated with the High Hope chariot? Or was it because of the evolution when receiving living energy?
You did not dare to think about it since things became more and more tragic. As soon as you set foot at the entrance of Reed Hill, an unfamiliar embodiment awaited ahead, cladding in the black armor and posing in a majestic standing. They said nothing, just shooting a windy arrow on behalf of the challenge. It was acceptable when the rival force arranged different adversities even on inner paths due to this essential point of RPF-910 Operation. You swiftly settled the container into a secure position and wasted no time summoning your Wrath of Mandala to charge in.
Perhaps fate rallied fellowman together, or it was merely coincidence that two similarities competed to slay each other. The archer was adept in their class when every arrow carried its intention to pierce your vital spot accurately. Moreover, their fighting style was masterful without any redundant motion, and the opponent shared the same ability as you, so it could be a fair duel between Wind controllers to identify who would stand on the peak. After exchanging some moves and your quick analysis, you guaranteed this elite rival was at Commander rank or higher with unique skills. They were prudential in keeping a safe range for your lengthy sword, which differed from the past enemies. Alas, the scale balance broke as misfortune befell your side when an arrow burst your right hand, which caused you to unsummon the conceptual sword coercively. Grasping the golden chance, they fired another one that precisely hit your left eyeball, successfully restricting your vision.
You timely prolonged the distance to yank the foreign object out and fly back up daggers to buy time for regenerating. Nonetheless, the process seemed incredibly slow, so you had to defend by eluding and clumsily resisting with a short sword. After stealing a glance at your injury, an abnormal substance enveloped that hinders the regeneration.
"Quantum entanglement!? Why did Antimatter Legion dip their hands in Denizen of Abundance III?" - You confusedly monologued when discovering their true identity.
Another victorious opportunity blessed the rival fate when they sensed your distraction. As a consequence, a mortal arrow drove through your stomach and sent you crashing with a trunk to which firmly had your body pinned. While struggling to jerk it out, the opponent stood in front and was about to thrust your mini-reactor. Surrounding seemingly white bleached as they initiated the fatal blow, but the foe canceled their attack. For a fleeting moment, you heard them asking your name with a resounding voice like an abyssal echo.
"O honorable warrior, may I know thine name to instill it on my grave?"
You slowly replied and freed yourself to stand up. Purple fluid continuously dripped along the invisible sword tip as the enemy lowered their weapon.
"I was presumptuous to fight you at close range. Farewell, Bai Lin."
They whispered in defeat and fragmented.
The nameless elite was a capable fighter whose wisdom in combatting, yet they underestimated human evolution. All the coursing movements were your stratagem ever since the opponent disabled your right arm. The half-baked defense of wielding the short sword with your left hand fruitfully convinced them to believe you were dexterous was pivotal. Another crucial point was to lure the rival into your striking zone. As long as they subconsciously stepped in close range and imagined prevailing the match, those factors materialized your triumphant moment. The enemy lost because they were straightforward, and you could effortlessly read the integrity that oozed out of their fighting spirit. Amidst uncountable battles, this foe was the most esteemed opponent who brought out an unforgettable duel. Their characteristics and demeanor made you unhesitantly think of befriending them in another universe.
Tumblr media
"Do you assume I am the most attractive person in this galaxy?" - Lady Olennia held Huang Yuan's hand to snuggle into his palm. A yellow butterfly hovered around their table and finally sat at his teacup brim, drawing dainty ripples. They were on a faux date in the bounded field, a garden full of interstellar flowers adorned with an embellishing pavilion at the center.
"I will tell you after we settle this affair." - He gently muttered while caressing his thumb on Olennia's temple and simultaneously flipped the card with his other hand.
Another spades pair.
"I guess that your momentary freedom won't last long." - A vicious grin stretched on her lips as she claimed the second win. Although Lady Olennia led a 2-0 score, Huang Yuan's poker face remained unbroken because things had just happened.
Sumptuous fragrance dissolved into every gust of winds imbued the ubiquitous vicinity, presaging a stressful wits.
In two consecutive rounds, Devourers' Captain got the upper hand continuously, driving the game into a draw. Upon this unpleasant circumstance, a frown formed on her dashing face as she recognized something off and requested to be the dealer, which Huang Yuan instantly accepted. Just as shuffling the cards and spreading them on the table, she shut her eyes.
"Aren't you afraid of me cheating?" - He cautiously reminded the enemy.
Responding to his kindness was an implied expression to shroud her rage that brewed after every second passing by. Olennia was positive this man had conjured something to mess up her vision when he touched her temple. Perhaps she was too lenient or underestimated the rival's competency, and regardless of whatever the causes, Dr. Chen must pay the price for defective intel provisory. Being degrading her grandeur and humiliated in front of an ordinary human led her to change the tactic.
If Olennia's hypothesis was correct, closing those cursed eyes was an appropriate trick. She did not mind whether Huang Yuan would maneuver the cards since one of Lady Olennia's abilities was smelling dishonesty. Should any cheating behavior be displayed, or his aura radiate cheating intention, she could detect them all with her eyes shut. On the other side of the table, Huang Yuan sensed his foe vaguely figured out his scheme, but he ascertained that she got backward. Victory had stood by his side from the beginning.
"I..lost...?" - Lady Olennia was so flabbergasted that all eyes flew open to witness the bitter outcome as the Captain flipped the last card and completed their little game. While she trucked in horrific astonishment, Yuan slowly rose from his seat, which made a displeasing noise as it scratched underneath the cement ground. His refined mien transferred into a ferocious look in a flash.
"The only reason I trounced you was your confusion between me and Vice-Captain Bai Lin." - Before leaving Olennia a chance to react to his explanation, Huang Yuan darted forward to gasp her head.
"For me, the most beautiful treasure in this galaxy is peace. Now, TWIST!"
Blood spurted out in all directions, drenching the uniform and staining on his face. As soon as he defeated the boss, the Real Illusion field shattered itself, leaving a terrible scene and a redolent foul smell. Her dry corpse twisted into a helix shape with Huang Yuan's right arm. He cut off the limb with his bayonet because touching that revolting witch disgusted him. In the Captain's cognition, he felt like a plague would gnaw the entire body if he did not stop the infection. Yuan was the kind of person who preferred to hide his True Ability under his sleeve. Looking outward, Bai Lin outclassed him from the fight perspective and attained several feats in essential operations while his charisma led the team toward glorification. In fact, his hidden talent was manipulating the energy. Huang Yuan was eligible to modify the object essence up to the particle level on condition that he comprehended its structure.
In the confrontation with Lady Olennia, he soon realized she would discreetly cheat on the game, and Huang Yuan proactively asked to be the dealer. After meticulously observing her behavior, he explored three types of scent for four suits: Rose for hearts, Jasmine for clubs, White tea for diamonds, and unscented on spades. Another trick was further complicated when it related to the verso of cards because Olennia designed their pattern based on odd, even, and the unit of numbers. Finally, she concealed them carefully among the card patterns. Huang Yuan wanted to be the one who shuffled those cards since he needed an aforehanded setup.
By changing the bond and affecting carbon atoms, the Captain successfully turned Geranyl acetate into Benzyl Acetate and distorted some patterns to finish his coursing plan. Moreover, Lady Olennia had dug her grave when she initiated to find Huang Yuan's affection, and the doomed action only accumulated his victory as he took advantage to falsify her optic nerve.
Bloodred footprints imprinted on the Lament dungeon's sworn path as Huang Yuan resumed his route to the ladder.
Tumblr media
It did not take long for them to rendezvous at the Reed Hill. While Yuan was only in dried blood, your dragging heels as though brought along the whole death. Skimming over your sorrowful countenance, he promptly knew the happenings without asking. The two of you then proceed to the last stage of your Operation by assembling the supportive gear and ready to fire the salvation arrow.
"Target: locked, calculating the itinerary: done. Activating the optic synchrony. 3,2,1 FIRE!!"
And the holy arrow flew toward the enemy's fortress with her watchword. For those who bore witness to that historical moment, rumoring that abnormal lighting possessing an anti-army power soared across the twilight sky, which ended the agelong war with glory to the Xianzhou. In that western frontier, the holy weapon seemed to halve their chaotic firmament to grant the yearning peace.
"We finally did it, Yuan!" - You rejoiced in triumph and discarded the vision-synergizing device to look at your comrade. But alas, he gradually turned into void dust because there was no way an ordinary human could endure deity might. Nonetheless, Huang Yuan was unbothered in caring for his lethal state as he brought out a handkerchief to wipe dirt off your face. Watching his dying tenderness by the right eye, intangible fear surrounded you since this was your first time learning what terror was.
"It is a pity to die here while I always dreamt of a field with full bloom hydrangea." Huang Yuan said, but his voice was asymptotically like a whisper. The crepuscule backlit behind drew a hazy halo around his head and darkened his visage simultaneously. Upon the chilly serenity of Reed Hill, he fantasized you two had already arrived at the world's corner.
"Hearken to my last order: You were set free of slaughtering. Please live happily from now on, and keep searching for your own dream. Do that...and I have no doubt you will accomplish many things. Farewell, comrade Bai Lin."
(Still, I'm going to miss her.) The Captain discreetly reflected his regretful thoughts when looking at you. Huang Yuan flashed a placid smile and closed his eyes to imagine a field of flowers before completely vanishing into thin air.
You reached out to catch a photograph mounting on an evening wind. For a brief moment, you snapped out of petrifying status and frantically ran across the heath to find Huang Yuan.
"Don't...please...don't leave me behind. DON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND!!" - Your denial cry resonated all over the hill, and you eventually slumped on the ground in despair. Tears started falling down the low-quality picture of five people, four out of them wearing gleeful smiles at an old ruin.
Bai Lin is an insightful name, but no one can call it anymore.

Devourers of Abominations' background story might have ended here if Yue Guang had not betrayed. Two members of the undead legion were exceptional organisms because they were neither humans nor monsters. The perfect duo in the Devourers team was a side study of Dr. Chen, and they appeared even before the project's initiating state. A boy was his lab homunculus, and a girl was a frozen embryo to play a backup vessel in case of the malfunctioning prototype. Nevertheless, he found another interesting topic and eventually decided to nurse them both.
The chief researcher endowed life for his discreet study by infusing Yin-Yang cores from a dying heliobi into their bodies to operate the spinal cord instead of mini reactors. In addition to turning the children into black sheep, he implanted a conditional treacherous algorithm in their nucleus. Yue Guang also prudently falsified their memories before sending them to a backen refugee camp. Those children were then assigned to the 57th orphanage, and their registered names were Huang Yuan and Bai Lin.
When Yaoqing recognized his malicious intrigue, it was too late because the project was running at its final phase, and Dr. Chen had already left with his incinerated research. According to their investigation, they suspected Chen Yue Guang was a Lord Ravager who infiltrated the research team to mess up with their project and cast chaos inside out. However, their assumption was a mere theory since Yue Guang had cleaned every piece of related data and disappeared as though he never existed. On the other hand, the Yaoqing's authorities could not abort Devourers of Abominations, or at least not yet. Not when the voluminous benefits the squad provided. Thanks to allocating their position at the frontline battlefield, the death toll and financial burden decreased significantly. Furthermore, those black sheep seemed not to awaken of their true essence.
In the developing phase of Devourers, the unsurpassed capability of Huang Yuan and Bai Lin quickly shone. Thanks to his sublime intelligence, Yuan became the leader of the Devourers of Abominations, who officially masterminded the strategy with their Commanders. As for their Vice-Captain, Bai Lin's martial arts talent bloomed excellently, and it excelled above her peers, which led to control of Wind Element. Due to her unparalleled potential, Bai Lin was the sole member who masterfully wielded Wrath of Mandala - a replica of one of the Three Grand Divine Weapons - the pride of the Artisanship Commission in Luofu. The team considered that invincible duo a bloodline, who functioned as Brain and Limbs.
However, the wheel of fortune seemed to ruthless on the Vice-Captain since her illustrious expertise backfired on Bai Lin as the Yaoqing Authorities burdened her with a sinful mission. She had to kill every member who succumbed to Berserk because her precise swordsmanship always tore the accurate point of their mini-reactor as if Bai Lin possessed a causality reverse art. Therefore, the Vice-Captain's comrades could be released from the earthly hell and rest in peace, and the epithet "Bai Lin the tyranny" was born. Other divisions rumored she was a bloodthirsty monster who unhesitantly salvaged souls despite friends or foes on the battlefield.
Huang Yuan used to see her shedding tears after plundering a teammate's life, yet she stopped mourning ever since the fifth person and drank more instead. He did not realize Bai Lin's smile gradually quenched, and her eyes were getting darker with an unreadable expression until she confessed in a drunk state.
"Perhaps I became a monster entirely. Don't you think so?" - the Vice-Captain still slumped with her head down, surrounded by spirit cans and metal mugs, which depicted a picture of solitude and depression. "I cannot cry for them nor feel grief anymore."
Under the dim light of a cheap candle, burning wax noiselessly melted to flash a weak flicker upon the tent's panel. It was dark and gloomy, like the fate of Devourers of Abominations. Immersing in the dreadful silence, Bai Lin exhaustedly stared at her palm - all eyes were bloodshot yet arid. She wondered if the Galatic Trace started nibbling her tear ducts or if this mundane body transformed. Even though she attempted to rinse the evidence tainted with countless blood, the tarnishment perpetually lingered.
"If I become a berserker, please kill me in the most atrocious method. I don't deserve a peaceful death."
It was a miracle that Bai Lin remained sanity after suffering myriad hellish things. Is that a good thing to keep the Vice-Captain a humane butcher? Huang Yuan surmised he would never get an answer, so he muttered something and drank up his bottle instead. From reading the lip sing, she could tell it was Nonsense.
"We are the marionette of fate from the beginning. No matter how far we run, Devourers of Abominations definitely meet their ends. Nevertheless, I wish to protect her smile in my last breath." - Huang Yuan closed his national secret. The suicide squad has already given too much of their childhood and happiness, even discarded their lives. In the future vision, there is no trace of their silhouette and the person who sold their soul like you deserved a better life. Looking at the High Elder's face, Huang Yuan effortlessly detected an ounce of tangled thought and elaborated abruptly.
"Truth be told, Dr. Chen algorithm us to betray the Alliance, yet an unexpected circumstance occurred, which resulted in an error code embedded in my core. That's why I regained the True memory, and I can assure you that Bai Lin won't rebel either. However, her memories stayed unchanged to prevent the information overload, and the side effect might cause her Deja vu." - The Captain said and brought his hand to touch his chest tenderly. Behind the cover of Yuan's uniform was a hollow ribcage since he had gouged his Yang core to neutralize your malicious code before requesting an audience with the Commander.
Dan Feng only closed his eyes to inhale a long breath. White cranes embroidered in silver thread glide in sparkling glitter on every breathing rhythm as he reorganized events.
"Are you fond of her?"
Confronting with his sudden question, Huang Yuan cleverly avoided giving Imbibitor Lunae a direct response.
"We shared the same vital energy, so Bai Lin is technically the other me. As long as she is alive, my dream will go on. Uhm...thank you for sending us some fireworks, by the way."
Tumblr media
Sunset feeding the dying light signed the beginning of RPF-910 Operation. Five remaining Devourers' members settled their assigned positions and marched forth. On their last mission, the kamikaze group split into three segments: Jia Xi held the East frontier and joined forces with him was the First Division of Xianzhou Xuling. His sacred duty at the stronghold was to resist the enemy's offensive attack and sacrificial defense. Irene controlled the airspace; her mission was to cover their rear and support firepower for the East swing. From the Forging Commission, you and Zi Wen were responsible for transporting the holy arrow of Reignbow Arbiter - the grace of Aeon Lan the Hunt to Reed Hill. As for Huang Yuan, the victorious key headed toward their blockage area by an underground dungeon alone.
The Operation happened as planned, but things got out of control when your pair crossed an isolated lagoon. An abnormal magnetic field blocked the path and jammed all your signals. In addition to your dilemma, the designated transportation was not specialized in combat, so it barely got through. In order to pierce that hindered barrier, you had to turn on the Secondary armor, which was the sole defensive device to protect the chariot. After enduring a kilometer, you and Zi Wen escaped the magnetic field successfully. But alas, the challenge seemed the prelude as an enemy's maniple lay in an ambush while all controlling systems and supporting subsystems were incapable of functioning en masse. Their raven swings moved into a circular shape, obstructing the sky like a well-brim.
Upon that aghast scene, a robotic voice repeatedly warned of the forthcoming confrontation while error signals dominated every monitor. Gazing at the dazzling crimson alert blazed over the hatch, so there were limited options in this urging situation. As soon as you told Zi Wen to sit still and planned on leaving the cockpit, he suddenly pressed your shoulder, which caused you to stay in place.
"Don't fight risky out there while you have comrades to lean on."
You astonishedly swang your head toward him to see the scarlet hue illuminating his facial lines and dyed his worn uniform. Your irises squeezed when he mentioned the transportation's structure. The High Hope chariot was not meant for battle, yet it was made from an Abundance of abomination's corpse. As a result, there must be something you can take advantage of, and Zi Wen was astute to exploit.
"I felt glad when previewing its technical design last night." - He started dismantling some hardware at the center system - "Because this chariot originated from a living organism, its creator group has not eradicated essential parts yet. For demonstration, this stinger is an excellent example." Zi Wen pulled a bizarre tube from a messy web of colorful cords as he resumed his lecture.
"They linked it to the fuel tanks, and the buddy instills gasoline from there to metabolize into energy. Before transforming into a mechanical body, the abomination absorbed organic nutrition. Do you know what that means?" An astonishment emerged in the layer of thought as you recognized his alternative. However, they soon dismissed to make room for the dumbfoundedness surging on your face when Zi Wen showed a handmade steel ring that lay neatly in a square box.
"I planned on proposing Irene after this Operation ends, but I guess I miss the chance now. Can you help me convey the message?" - A faint smile tinged on Zi Wen's solemn visage; you did not comprehend why he could be that calm to ask that favor. In the end, you bitterly took the box from him, and a sting pain suddenly squeezed your left chest, which felt like someone plucked the heart out as your fingertip reached his will. That was the first time you learned what the pain is, but Zi Wen seemed fulfilled when his partner did so.
"I leave the rest to you, Vice-Captain."
Just as Zi Wen finished the sentence, he immediately pinned the stringer to his carotid, and the transportation sucked his life, only leaving a dry corpse beside you. After receiving the vital energy from a living creature, all systems progressively went green signs, the Secondary armor returned to its peak, and the transportation even repaired Endure Border on its own. You silently stored the box inside your inner pocket and twitched on the highest stats. A war cry vocalized when you pungently seized the steering wheel to charge the abounded enemy swarmed over, as dense as a shadow.
"MY CHARIOT WILL RUN YOU DOWN LIKE A SHOOTING STAR."
Tumblr media
The facts at Eastern Battlefront did not go positive when the opposite force hit hard on Jia Xi's swing, and the stronghold was in danger of falling. Their Commander ordered the First Division to withdraw behind to support Jia Xi and their Captains. Likewise, Irene hardly covered the rear as the enemy continuously attacked and kept her hands full, so drawing the foe's attraction from Jia Xi was the only thing she could do to unload his burden. Amidst those chaotic circumstances, the affair grew worse when a starskiff staggered on the dusted sky and released its firepower to the Alliance. Jia Xi's communication monitor abruptly switched on, only to find Irene wearing a half-broken mask, which revealed her grave expression.
"They hijacked my starskiff and killed my partner, but I annihilated the hostility promptly. Please help me when I return to my position." The comms shut down instantly after she completed her favor, leaving him gazing at the specific starkiff desperately.
Tumblr media
Not long after you drove through their second barrier, a maximum explosion blasted midair, which caused your transportation to wiggle due to its winds. The High Hope chariot seemed severely devastated when sustaining two extreme ambiance; its engine sparked electronically, and the armor fumed smoke. Your comms suddenly received the connection request from the Eastern Battlefront; Jia Xi's features unstably materialized on the grain monitor. His complexion looked horrendous, and his hair matted with blood as he condensed the happenings.
"...Therefore, I shot down her starskiff." - He clenched his teeth to press the outcome. Whenever a member of the Devourers of Abominations project showed any betrayal, other teammates must eradicate those treacherous components, regardless of whether intentional or unintentional. The explosion from Irene starskiff was a kind of atomic bomb that had a biological detonator; in this case, their mini-reactors played the role of activating the bomb.
An agonizing countenance disappeared as quickly as it came when Jia Xi settled the device beside him to lean on a tottering barricade. The frontier was derelict because all soldiers received the order to retreat to the fortress, and Jia Xi stayed to complete his mission. With this strategy, they could repel the enemy's offensive for a remarkable time to reallocate the forces and accept the reinforcement.
"I...no, we leave the rest to you. Glory to the Xianzhou."
Before losing your signal, a big smile decorated his face that shone brighter than the golden flash shimmered on Jia Xi's figure. A nameless daisy in front of the monitor lightly swayed along the wind's accord was the curtain of Eastern Battlefront.
You astoundedly fixed your eyes on the screen that are now black-and-white grains.

Chapter 4: The last remnant of epics (Second Half)

This is a forgettable story about a kamikaze squad who spotted the perpetual tarnishment in the Yaoqing's military. Their remarkable contributions went silent and fell into oblivion, leaving the dying remnant in the endlessly spiral abyss. When the salvation arrow rode the East wind to land its target, everything crumbled and crumbled; everything went ashes, went ashes.
Tumblr media
In the dead of night, where celestial bodies crown the navy sky, it was supposed to be a tranquil atmosphere, but five vibrant people animatedly boozed en masse. The tangerine bonfire crackled under their shins and ablaze on their features as the spicy alcohol weaved at the collision.
"Bottom-up!" - exclaimed the dark-haired girl who initiated the party.
While other teammates gulped down the tipsy liqueur, you stared at the glassy liquid glittered in your metal mug at hand motionlessly. Bathing in the moist coastal breeze of May, you concluded your last summer would end sooner or later when considering the length of a grievous journey. Suddenly, a cozy palm lightly tapped your shoulder to prevent the whirled thoughts, his radiant heat effectively anchored in your mind.
"You are spaced out. Are you alright?" - A genuine concern laced in a voice as the flame flickered at those cerulean eyes, and Pumpkin - the gang's hunting dog, snugging its wet nose beside to join your view simultaneously. You merely shook your head to imply no engagement in conversation and drank up the spirit. Huang Yuan possessed a pair of miracle orbs because whenever you sought his irises, they twinkled more than any stars you knew, and their azure hue was far more distant than any sapphire sky. Perhaps that was a manifestation of a young prodigy since things always coursed as he had planned and regularly scored full marks but lost in stealing the neighborhood's guava. It was as if things had just happened yesterday, as if the two of you lay on green grass, watching the kites that rode on the gusts of a windy hill. Huang Yuan chewed a frond of vervain in his mouth with its violet petals wriggled in rhythms.
Tumblr media
"Do you know Aeon Avikili? I wish to follow his path when Denizen of Abundance III ends." - the boy mouthed swiftly after a long silence while his fingers twiddled the string, fluffy bangs tenderly brushed his forehead. In your view, Huang Yuan was a gifted child whose performance was outstanding to his peers in every aspect.
At the time, you wondered why Yuan's kite seemed the highest one that flew skyward despite your tethers sharing the same length. In childhood at a rural orphanage, you two befriended Irene and Zi Wen, who always complained about his fleeting dreams regardless of your camaraderie. Huang Yuan also often asked about your dreams that you quickly dismissed because of the lack of desire for anything.
Time flew like the kite's swing that year when the four of you enlisted in the military. Being a part of the "Devourers of Abominations'' project may be an honor in exchange for estrangement and isolation. Your team was infamous because of its monstrous potency and extraordinary abilities. People said that twenty elite warriors of Devourers of Abominations were equivalent to the top-notch legion, which possessed a mass devastating force that could destroy a country. But alas, the members eventually were reduced to five due to handling the bloody frontlines and mostly courtesy of their power's shortcomings. They had gone through several commanders since your team served different positions, from marine to pilots, and your interim administrator was Imbibitor Lunae of Luofu.
Tumblr media
The night before arriving on the mainland, you were in charge of a night shift. Generals of Xianzhou declared to end this interminable war at a blockage area called the Reed Hill. It was a wonderful day after another white night to gaze at the silvery moonlit glaring upon the vast sea until dawn. The morning sun flashed with a gentle coral color that rode leaping waves afar, causing a glittering band on the horizon. Sea breezes lifted seagulls' swings hovered around the dewy firmament on the flicker sunrise.
"I don't like this weather because it usually brings dreadful storms." - stated Jia Xi, who abruptly appeared on the deck with his signature crossed arms. Perhaps it was a bestowed skill of the innated navigator when prophecied through the wind stream. Whatever it was, you expected to see him mounting on white waves to live up to his ideal model. Although forecasting the horrendous future, you could tell a tiny hint of interest that lived in his eyes. Jia Xi seemed unbothered to your response as he added - "Should any contingency occur, you are eligible to shelter at my humble house. Its location is at Luofu beyond the Faery forest." Among the remaining members of Devourers of Abominations, Jia Xi was the oldest person, so he unknowingly ended up with a motherly ethos, and you probably know what he was talking about. As though it was a natural rule, Jia Xi's time nearly lies at the other waist of the hourglass. Those salty winds could not neutralize the laced bitterness in that line; therefore, you considered those words like his will.
You two did not have things to converse on that morning, mainly viewing dawn on the quiet sea.
Tumblr media
As soon as your squad set foot on the mainland and started camping troops, the tricky duo Inrene-Zi Wen spread out and found two superfluities or at least that was your assumption. Zi Wen, who dreamed of being a sublime veterinarian, brought a stray wounded dog, and Irene, who always wanted a photography studio, brought a broken camera from a nearby junkyard. However, much to Zi Wen's dismay, Pumpkin - he named the stray dog - grew a fondness toward you more than anyone else, even if you seldom pat its head. As for the old Polaroid, Irene's effort did not go to waste when the whole of your team heard her thunderous exclamation on a yellowish afternoon. Consequently, the five of you assembled at the Light Sanctuary ruin, or in other words, she technically dragged you out.
Initially, you insisted on taking the photo and refused to partake in the camera, notwithstanding its automatic system. However, Huang Yuan cleverly draped his arm around your shoulder to prevent you from escaping. As a result, the photo consisted of four teammates grinning joyfully while you reluctantly gave two peace signs toward the camera's lens.
"So, whoever is alive after this incessant war will hold this photo!" - Irene cheerfully beamed and waved the flat thing as printing completed. To your cognition, you saw no point in her high hopes because Devourers of Abominations would vanish after the RPF-910 operation finished. Eventually, the squad elected Captain Huang Yuan to keep the low-quality photograph temporarily since he owned the peak possibility of survival.
Underneath that artistic afternoon sky, a small smile subconsciously stretched on your lips when they discussed the upcoming supplies. The tricky duo was undoubtedly troublesome, yet you dearly love them, and the last summer.
Tumblr media
"You know what? Only if I close my eyes, I envision our wedding." - The softening whisper of Irene woke you up from the lingering past. At first thought, you surmised she was drunk, yet mischief flashed in Irene's orbs at glimmering ambers. The cheap fireworks exploded in the dark sky that Jia Zi lit, seemingly embroidered on her face. You let out a light chuckle before leading her to swirl around.
"Say, You want me to be your groom on behalf of Zi Wen instead of a bridesmaid, milady?" - Apparently, her sentence indued with magic since you could fantasize about an exquisite cathedral with a high ceiling, which redolent of white flowers.
"He is an awful dancer. On top of that, a black tuxedo suits you well."
Despite everything finally evaporating like A Midsummer Night's Dream, it was still one of the most marvelous dreams you have ever had.
Tumblr media
It was abnormal to request an urgent audience with the commander at this hour, but witnessing Imbibitor Lunae still strategizing the diorama was even more shocking. Without further ado, Huang Yuan started.
"Greeting your majesty, I demand a changing position with Vice-captain Bai Lin." Confronting a living legend of the Luofu, he sensed an intangible pressure burdened on his shoulder as Dan Feng's emerald gaze swept through. He comprehended that it was nearly impossible to reallocate the responsibility, yet Huang Yuan daresay his petition to prevent the forthcoming turmoil.
Every nation has a deadly secret, including Xianzhou Yaoqing. The military had a suicide squad that acquired such limitless strength with tremendously regenerated abilities on battlefields that they called them monsters. And they treated them like monsters.
Ere an excellent doctor who handled the chief researcher chair, he developed an imaginary project according to Yaoqing's order. To give birth to a group of unripped heroes, Doctor Chen Yue Guang opted for numerous juveniles from pilot orphanages and initiated the "Devourers of Abominations" project. In order to attain the desired goal, they conducted the majority of the surgery for modifying those selected living organisms. More specifically, the lead researcher group removed the guinea pigs' spinal cord completely and utilized "Galatic Trace" to become the substitutional function of the mentioned part. "Galatic Trace" merely was a florid term that Chen Yue Guang named, and its intrinsic esse was a derivative of their self-synthesized radioactive substance. Besides, Dr. Chen replaced the experimental organism's heart with a mini reactor to operate the artificial spinal cord properly. However, these were just an abstract of their research project because hundreds of tacit failures remained unlisted.
As a result, the Devourers of Abominations' warriors acquired incredible strength and unparalleled prowess because they could not sense pain, so they feared nothing. They even possessed constantly regenerated capability, which allowed them to alleviate medical burdens.
An undead legion true-in-words.
However, there were also lethal shortcomings to quid pro quo. Firstly, it shrunk the experimental organism's longevity tremendously, and the immortals, or Foxian/Vidyadhara, and similar races manifested a high chance of rejection. Therefore, ordinary people who had the shortest lives even become ephemeral identities. Researchers estimated the average longevity of Devourers of Abominations did not exceed thirty.
Secondly, those soldiers also heavily depended on inhabitor serum to prevent the post-rejection process and to compress their berserk attribute. Once a member surrendered their sanity to become a berserker whose state was considered a mortal's Mara-Struck. The sole way was to get the Vice-captain to destroy their mini reactor humanely.
Thirdly, they had to act solitary and minimize communication with other teams at the lowest rate because radioactivity may impact stakeholders. Even though the project's developers claimed Devourers of Abominations did not emit radiation, they needed to wear protective gear in case of inevitable contact with other people. As a consequence, no one ever got a chance to see Devourers' faces.
Nobody can pinpoint whether Yaoqing's authorities are right or wrong, ethical or inhumane because it is warfare. National benefits are always top priorities.
Notes: It took me too long to complete this chapter, and the whole story might be on a short hiatus due to my thesis. I will attempt to complete Panacea at the quickest speed. Happy New Year to everyone <3

"The patient has been in a coma for 72 hours from being discovered. Hemoptysis with unknown cause and her condition refuse all drugs even cloudhymn does not meet the treat's purpose ."
Dawn breaks at the East horizon, shining fragile sunbeams on a nightingale at your window, where eglantine baths in the late-winter breezes. The bird tilts its head toward a man who closes the medical file to sit beside your headboard. Its black eyes shimmer at the sight of Dan Feng slowly stroking your hand to check the pulse in serene silence. He now understands why you wear gloves all the time, to conceal these wrinkles that dedicate the unrecoverable illness. His cloudhymn failed to cure because all your living circuits were damaged, and ADN is no longer to repair. Imbibitor Lunae always knows that mortals are frail and short-lived, including you, but he refuses to give up on you this early.
Therefore, he gambles his last hope in this brewing dose. A thin stream of smoke from your china cup leisurely dissolves into the air that swirls off his mind as the High Elder found your limp body sprawled onto the garden with blood had already dried and a pale complexion. His immovable spirit wavered for the first time when he realized none of the treatments adapted to your status. Initially, the Long Scion intended to hospitalize you at the Alchemistry Commission, yet a mysterious veil shrouded your identity, causing him to change his mind since Dan Feng attempted to search for records or used medicine as a reference to develop an appropriate method. He spotted a polaroid dyed in time hue and a small glass jar that lay neatly in the last drawer, which led to another surprising event after analyzing those items.
The stagnated content in that container was an inhibitor serum that does not register in any medical history. As for your polaroid, five people stand at an old ruin, and four of them wear cheerful smiles on their vague faces when a center girl gives two peace signs with her indifferent look. Dan Feng could not tell if she was you since a sandy filter tainted the photo's plane, and most of her broken features were faint. Besides, the line "Memento mori" was written in sea penmanship on the verso, which intrigued his curiosity no less because it means "Remember that you [have to] die" in the Latin language.
However, Imbibitor Lunae takes a respite temporarily from his unbelievable hypothesis to prioritize your current problem. He only simulates 70 percent from the unclear formula in two days since your condition is on edge. Judging at purple veins spread over your face like a spider web indicates that the High Elder's acupuncture is about not sustaining the ebbing circumstance. Just as Dan Feng distraughtly caresses your wilt hand, the convulsion symptom breakthroughs the limit and takes control of your body. Ignoring the heat that overwhelms his mind and burns down his tongue, the Long Scion immediately drinks the brewing herbs to drench you. No words can describe his elated expression when your eyelids flutter open, and all the dreadful symptoms withdraw promptly as the medicine kicks in, restoring your ruddy complexion.
Tumblr media
Winter passed, Spring came, and another circular cycle of linear time started as your pear blossoms halo underneath the silver moonlight. All corners of the Shangri-La immerse into argent moonlit, which creates a luxuriant spectacle as you and Dan Feng sit on the terrace together for flower viewing. The ambiance brims with the sweet aroma of Spring's breath while ethereal petals litter the ground densely, woven like a florid rug. Looking at his space-out figure with the sheen liquid that gleamed beneath those green eyes, you cannot help but inquire about his tangled thoughts. The High Elder merely inhales a long exhalation and shakes his head to gulp down the mild spice of apricot wine.
"Nothing, I will bottom it up even if it is poisonous." - Unchanging his visage, Dan Feng's chiseled Adam's apple bobbed up and down when he swallowed it, earning your joyful giggle. Undeniably, the High Elder possesses an awful sense of humor.
Fireflies start lighting their green phosphor glims in the epiphyllum bush to attract your concentration. It is rare to see them at this time because fireflies usually appear in the Summer season, and no exception to the Shangri-La. As a result, you want to catch some and contemplate your new moon cactus at a close distance. Imbibitor Lunae still nonchalantly refills his cup with his eyes fixed on your animated silhouette before a dark cloud flies through, obscuring the shining moon.
Three deafening sounds reverberate through the house that seethes the vicinity as soon as the surroundings drown in darkness. In brief seconds, an unreversed upheaval occurs to change everything upside down. After the noise of his broken cup was the metal collision, and the sound of sharp tool stabbing in the wood followed up.
"So, is it you? Bai Lin the tyranny?" - Dan Feng is the first person to raise his voice, arousing the sedate blank. Combined with the silken peary light engraving dark and bright contrasting plates on the Long Scion's face, the cyan orbs glow like cat eyes under his shadowy bangs. However, there is no sliver of hostility in his gaze. A shallow cut on his cheekbone gradually emerges in a thin scarlet line when the black cloud leaves, rendering the full moon.
On the opposite side, a glimpse of the familiar figure materializes from a cyclone made of thousands of heavenly petals who points her sword toward him with a decisive look. Gripping the conceptual blade manifested by winds is Wrath of Mandala, which was once a replica of Three Grand Divine Weapons that is eligible to kill immortals. You eventually discard the camouflage to reveal your true identity and vigilantly stand still.
Even though answering his question is the smoothing melody of your wind chime hanging on the porch, Imbibitor Lunae knows his hypothesis is correct. In millions of possibilities, the Long Scion never expected or believed that he would meet a phantom from the past who attempted to assassinate him like this. In brief moments, you took advantage of the darkness to fly daggers at his position, but Dan Feng neutralized the first one by throwing the cup and summoning his spear to counter the second one. Nevertheless, he failed to completely evade the last dagger due to the poison that affected his body. The High Elder wonders if you orchestrate this scheme from the beginning because this atropin agent originates from Datura Metel. Maybe he was the worm in your garden that you mentioned. Nonetheless, your apricot wine is innocent, but not his ceramic cup.
"I ask of you, all of our memories are fake?" - Dan Feng exhales as blood cascades to his chin like a tear, feeling the paralysis sensation strike through to depress his central nervous system.
"Whoever aware of Devourers of abominations...MUST DIE!"
Avoiding to give him a direct answer, you hiss your carved motto and dash forward with the windy blade. Under the rousing battle of you and Imbibitor Lunae, pear blossom falling frenziedly as a downpour, those petals whirl around you two akin to a mad maelstrom when your masterful swordsmanship keeps tearing the air to pierce his defense. Like a death choreography under the flowery rain, sparklets flicker at your weapons crash underneath the bright moonlit, and the ground gets plowed every time your slashing form sweeps through. Staring into each other fiery eyes, you know the High Elder has reached his limit and is struggling to measure your intangible sword. Even in a weakened state, Dan Feng is still one of the most capable warriors, proving that the title Imbibitor Lunae is not a vainglory. Nevertheless, he cannot swing his spear as usual as the action slows down precisely 0.2 seconds due to the poison. Even with a small amount of poison, that condensed extraction is far enough to work well.
In finality, the balance battle skews to your side when you seize the opportunity to cast out his spear, causing it to fly aloft and implant into the mangled soil afterward. Imbibitor Lunae's irises squeeze to the limit when your sword tip awaits with the moon background.
"Those memories are real, and I rejoice to stay with the person named Dan Feng." - Your mind screams while darting forward, ready to bore a hole in his heart. Upon the force of the unparalleled wind that drives the High Elder's long locks thrown back when receiving a lethal strike with scattering petals disassociate.
Amidst the poetic colonnade of pear blossom, time seems to stop flowing, and two people stand motionless as a long sword means to saber through the man's body, intending to strip him of permanent life. However, her sword tip barely grazes his chest.
"Why...why you didn't dodge it when you were capable of?" - The voice nearly inaudible under your breath with the gaze downcast while Imbibitor Lunae remains silent with his solemn expression.
"If you dare not, I will lend you my strength." - Dan Feng abruptly grabs the conceptual weapon to stab it through. Flabbergasting at his decision, you pull back the blade instinctively, making the dripping blood from his hand follow the line to stagnate at your hilt. Finally, you unsummon the sword when you see a scarlet circle blooms on his attire.
Kneeling on the ground, you blankly stare into the hollow voidness, and so does the High Elder, but he crunches down to pull you into an embrace. Biting your lips to prevent the honest desires from cascading like a waterfall, you want to resume staying by his side, and you also want to continue waking up by his side.
"Your mission has ended for a long time, Bai Lin." - Dan Feng softly whispers behind and pats your head, his voice soothing the aching heart. It is a mystery why his hugging feels so gentle even after your death match. Although you are soon aware that this moment will come, tears compete to fall out of your eyes corners. An igniting sensation besieges the bridge nose when you helplessly cry on his shoulder.
"Feng...please kill me or hand me over to the Yaoqing." - You weakly vocalize after a long serenity. Because life is sometimes tragic, we decide to sacrifice for something better. However, there are still shortcomings among his paragon virtues, and stubbornness is honorably one of them.
"...You will die if you don't."
"A double coffin doesn't sound that bad."
"Fool."
Ah, life is sometimes tragic.

Chapter 2: Storm before the Blushing Morn
Dan Feng x Fem!Reader

He revisited on a sprinkle day, his signature ambergris aroma mixed with the freshness of humid forest note. You did not know why, but the High Elder seemed to be into rainy days because every time he came, water definitely showered outside. It has been weeks since you met him for the first time, and thanks to the frequency of his visits, you learn that the nonchalant Imbibitor Lunae gradually displays the other side. Although Dan Feng never clearly shows his emotion, you can tell his mood through the draconic tail. When he feels happy, his tail swings side to side and stands still as its owner is interested in or concentrates on whatever your information. In addition to your surprise, he sometimes even punchlines on your venting stories.
Under the Mulan's foliage, you slowly gaze at the kaleidoscope sky after rain. A mid-summer breeze that carries the scent of white flowers softly blows through, driving the ripples to gleam on the water's surface.
Immersing in your haze, you forget what was going to do until the Long Scion gives out his curiousness about the bush of Datura Metel in a corner garden.
"I have studied an organic pesticide which extracts from their active agents." - The elegant smell of lotus still glistens in the morning dew perfumes in your lungs when nudging into them. Suddenly, you shove the flower cart into his arms and tell him to wait for you at a nearby wooden bench. Dan Feng thinks eternal Spring never leaves this sunlit Shangri-La as he wipes the Mulan's petals out of the seat because the flora seems to blossom in four seasons.
While idly watching Koi fish under silky leafages, the High Elder does not notice you snicker behind. A forgotten raindrop stagnates on the lotus leaf trail like a lost pearl, arousing the quiet pond like his emerald orbs rising in astonishment. Amid the multi-colored palette, Dan Feng finds your smile is the most gorgeous flower when you abruptly pop up with a posy of Emperical Peony. The beam you flashed him still lingering in his mind as Dan Feng reluctantly takes the gift. Your hands lightly brush together via the exchange, reminding him of the existence of those black gloves since he has not seen you take them off once. Nevertheless, he lets it pass and dances his slender finger around the ombre corolla instead.
"Thank you, Yi Ting." - Imbibitor Lunae softly mutters under his breath, and as the lost ray shines through frost winter, a faint smile stretches on his usually glacial face.
On that day in the summer season, Dan Feng realizes that he does not return to your place because of its spectacular. He wants to revisit the Shangri-La because he likes spending time with you.
Tumblr media
On an Autumn afternoon painted in a burnt orange hue and wafting with a ripe persimmon scent, you are leisurely proceeding to the Dan Feng's residence while absentmindedly grazing a bunch of white chrysanthemums in hand. Looking at the High Elder Statue at the Dragonvista Rain Hall, your mind winds up reminiscing about the previous conversation.
"Yes?" - Transfering your focus toward his position, you represented the confusion as if hearing him wrong. The quiet Long Scion might befriend you and be your custom guest, but it was an extraordinary phenomenon since Dan Feng has not asked you to deliver flowers to his estate before. He patiently repeated the order while reading his scroll in one hand, and the other halfway was lifting the teacup with expressionless features. Looking at his relaxing manner, you unknowingly realize this house became Imbibitor Lunae's office.
When immersing thought in the past, you are suddenly pulled back to the present by a low thud of a light collision with a follow-up painful cry. Tears are bubbling in the Vidyadhara child's doe eyes as she feels the pain. You swiftly support her to stand up and inspect the body while trying to comfort the child, which results in two news in this situation. A good one is a scratch, and the bad is her cry getting louder even though you used up all your tricks.
"Pain, Pain goes away!" - You singsong to conjure an apple lollipop appearing in hand, and tears stop falling as she eyes your apologetic smile with compensation. When you clean the last drop of trail wet on her chubby cheekbones and apologize with head patting, other Vidyadhara children circle you to admire the little show. A defeated sigh escapes your breath as you look at their twinkle glims and secretly count the remaining candy's quantity. Unfortunately, in addition to your trouble, with an invitation from a brunette-haired boy, the group of children tugs your sleeves to play blind man's buff with their puppy eyes.
"Alright, but I won't be lenient." - You confidently state when settling the bouquet on a stone bench. And you keep your line.
Once darkness invades the vision, you start to track down the children. By listening to their footsteps and sensing the airflow, you catch all of them except Ma Tian, the boy with sheen eyes who cleverly outclasses your skill. Finally, thanks to your florist's exceptional technique, you discreetly declare the endgame while detecting his fabric detergent in the wind's stream.
"Catch ya, little brat!" - You happily exclaim your victory when circling your arms around Ma Tian's figure. However, you immediately realize something is wrong as a familiar ambergris cologne lingers on your nose, and you are hugging a lean body. Hurriedly removing the blindfold, you see Dan Feng mimic your shocked expression while Ma Tian lolls out his head behind the Long Scion.
"How long do you intend to embrace me?" - The High Elder clears his throat with a light reprimand nuance laces in but does not seem annoyed. If there is anything you would admire about Imbibitor Lunae besides his glorious feats, the quick recovery from an embarrassing situation is one of them. As soon as you two detach, Dan Feng grabs the bouquet and leads you out of the Scalegorge Waterscape, leaving the cheerful goodbyes of those children behind. You do not understand why Dan Feng is rushing in his strides until you see a pink tint on his tip ears.
When the sunset light turns golden on the greenery beneath, which gets everything basked in the look of burnished copper, you two arrive at the military memorial area where illustrious warriors rest in peace. Passing through hundreds of black marble graves glides their name, Dan Feng unravels your holding hands as he crunches down to place the chrysanthemum bouquet in front of a stone-carved Bai Heng.
You know that name. She was once a High-Cloud quintet member and a gifted pilot who sacrificed in the third Denizen of Abundance. People say Imbibitor Lunae is never a person with love, hatred, sorrow, or joy like everyone else in this world, but now you can shout out they are all wrong because of the unfathomable somber besieges in his orbs.
"Life is so short when it comes to mortal organisms'' - He mouths in a calm and unwavering tone after a long silence - "No matter what you do, they definitely die." With his back turned to you, it is challenging to figure out its meaning, yet you can degust a longing taste entangled in that clause. Forgotten fragments of sunlight slowly die on your heels while trekking to the way out, and the crescent vaguely takes place in the saturated navy sky. Although the High Elder rarely shared his thoughts with someone else, you hardly agree with this viewpoint.
"Even if it is short-lived, even if fate sometimes turns tragic, limited longevity creates the beauty of lives and valuableness because we learn to cherish life, and not all farewells are regretful. Sometimes, death is also an extrication, and I believe we will rendezvous on another horizon."
Dan Feng follows your graze to the glitter crepuscule, causing the mellow ray to cradle his features. - "Someday, you also turn into ashes?" - A sliver of bitterness in the question soon morphed into those cyan irises as you confirmed with your bright smile. When the two of you pass through the gate, Imbibitor Lunae abruptly informs you of his next arrival with special requests that combine with osmanthus cake and jasmine tea. It is the first time he proactively reserves in advance because Dan Feng neither notices his attendance nor does he appear on sunny days.
"Do I have to wait for the rain to meet you?" - Only one sentence, it has changed your relationship ever since. You guess that might be the way he expresses his feelings.
Tumblr media
In a dream, I see myself in my childhood state with a bouquet of blue hydrangeas. Strolling by the seashore, the shells confound in golden sand rustles underneath my bare feet as I search for someone. End then, an abnormal bloodred butterfly hovers around to lead me toward that person; we have passed zillions of landscapes and territories, from glacial rivers where white snow permanently coats mounts to the vast rug crafted by countless vivid blossoms. From the nameless barren deserts with magnificent starry nights crown aloft to the rich prairie possesses coast breezes. I keep going, going.
"Hydrangeas is the soulmate of rains." A distant voice echoes from those feeble wings in the entire journey. It feels like Amber Periods have flown until we reach a field with full-bloom hydrangeas that unfold our presence. Suddenly, my companion disappears into thin air, and I notice a nostalgic glimpse waving his hand from afar as if he has been waiting for me for an astronomical long time.
"You got my wish fulfilled... Thank you, my comrade." - The boy says in a gentle demeanor. His blue eyes shine brighter than any stars I have ever known, and he also disappears like the bloodred butterfly. His silhouette dissipates into thousands of flower petals as he flashes a warm smile toward me.
"Wait, H...H..." - A tsunami of impuissant waves brews into my heart when I try to call his name, but none of the syllables come out, and tears continuously cascade from my eyes while I witness the lost world fading.
You wake up from a soothing noise of hot steam oozing out of your old kettle and forget the dream cleanly. "You had a fever." - A low tone voice diagnoses as soon as Dan Feng senses your consciousness. Slightly lifting the heavy eyelids, you see him situating beside your headboard with a botanical book in hand. The glorious sun is far high hanging in the sky to pour its honeyed light through your window, which informs you to oversleep impliedly. You do not notice tears rolling down until the Long Scion points out in skimming your complexion and uses his thumb to caress the trail wetness. Sensing no engagement in conversation, Dan Feng shifts his hand to cover your eyesight and tenderly leans forward.
You only feel a pillowy touch on your forehead afterward.
"Please do not leave the bed today, and take the medicine on time because this is a prescription from the High Elder." - He faux-orders when rendering your vision. Astoundedly grazing the lingering sensation, you did not know that Imbibitor Lunae has a bizarre way of assessing the temperature.
Tumblr media
Winter at Shangri-La never experiences snow, yet it takes some seasonal features such as the gloomy weather all day with northeast wind seething through every direction. Inspecting the murky clouded skyward, you tug the scarf closer when your breaths dimly turn into silver smoke. As soon as you attempt to lift the white lily cart, a hot stream of fluid smelling like rusty iron runs down your chin, which the soil absorbs its falling drops. When you bring your hand to clean the water, it takes a moment to process it is blood. Your irises squeeze as you dumbfoundedly stare at the ivory gloves tainted with the crimson hue. Just as you intend to step forward, the surrounding spins around as though Earth and Heaven are twitching position, and you kneel only to cough out blood that permeates the fabric. The pollen sparkles in the ether after the collapse, and the shivering lily's petals in chilly winds are the last things in your blurring vision.

The soothing melody of raindrops falling through the thick foliage barely touches his hair as Dan Feng strides on the worn path underneath. The Ten-Lords commissioned him to investigate the supernatural phenomena in the Faery Forest, which inhabitants rumor it recently haunted. The golden sun conceals itself behind the aloft gloomy clouds draping an eerily grey ambiance, and the voidness of birds singing wafts a scary serenity.
There are plenty of stories and myths about the woods, but the infamous one was a wise Nymph who guarded the forest as the Alliance established. When the first Denizen of Abundance occurred, to preserve her homeland from the crossfire of the war, the Nymph divided herself into divine fragments asunder to enhance the endurance of the woods. Thanks to the Nymph's might, her forest remained intact after devastating battles. However, she could not regain her strength to unite divinity, so the wise Nymph gradually faded, her name eventually fell into oblivion, and the story is no more than a mythopedia. It is said that her Authorities dissolved in the forest to protect her beloved homeland forever. The native Loufu named the woods based on that story, and whatever the stories are, this forest has sustained through many sanguinary warfare and become one of the most venerated destinations.
The report says that citizens who live near the haunted place or some passing by currently hear a bizarre resonance in the Faery forest at dawn, and they even claim to witness jack-o'-lantern at twilight. To verify the statement, Dan Feng's presence from the blush of morn strolling around an hour and finds nothing akin to the rumor. The drizzle is getting heavier as raindrops start seeping through his attire. Looking at the overcast sky through a dense web of leaves, he forecasts it will soon be a downpour. When Dan Feng considers postponing the commission, a weak sound threads through ancient arbors, which beat like a song - a nursery rhyme. Simultaneously, a chilly breeze permeates with moisture rises as though pushing him toward the siren as soon as the resonance appears. The glint of surprise quickly quenches when Imbibitor Lunae decides to follow the sound's origin.
He keeps running with all senses on guards under the last remnants of light dimly lit his way until a field of flowers welcomes him when exiting the forest. Dan Feng never thought there would be people living beyond the woods and isolating themselves from society. Reflecting in those cyan irises is a girl standing amidst the hydrangea fully bloomed on its field, who raises her voice while one hand holds a cart of multi-colored flowers and the other curls around the axis of her umbrella. Suddenly, when detecting a foreigner's existence, you stop singing and tilt your head toward his position. To your right, an emotionless man with a prominent horned crown atop his forehead whom you know precisely. The drizzle turns into rain as water continuously trails down the High Elder's porcelain face.
"Your Majesty, it may become torrential rain. Would you like to shelter at my house?" - You kindheartedly open an invitation while sauntering to Dan Feng and sharing your umbrella. A weary inquiry escapes Imbibitor Lunae's lips as he notices you use the title in greeting, but Dan Feng only receives a mysterious smile.
Outside the limited space, raindrops seem progressively heavier when they drum on the umbrella panel, and the surroundings are covered in a misty veil. The calm demeanor in the Long Scion's eyes never wavers, and you can tell he sights right through your soul, searching for something. A familiar feeling creeps up his mind, yet somehow different. "Yes, please lead the way." - Dan Feng eventually accepts your invitation after a brief moment as he gently takes the shalt from your gloved hand.
After avoiding the rain at your house, all suspicions were clear, and he assumed to close the case because the enigmatic echo was your singing voice, and the fen-fire originated from your paper lantern. When Dan Feng mentioned those phenomena, an astonishment tinged your face yet soon morphed into grinning. "My sincere apologies, Your Majesty. But, you may conclude your commission now." - You breathlessly said while trying to regain your formal posture.
The crispy sound of embers crackling mingles with thunderbolts from afar, which craft an inexplicably refreshing atmosphere. Compared to the natural noise outside, Dan Feng thinks your voice seems to dissolve into the ether. Although those emerald orbs never leave the white wall made from endless heavy raindrops, his attention still focuses on your conversation. Besides, the High Elder learned you are a florist who has settled here about three years. "I succeeded in my grandmother's business after looking after her ailment.'' - Your tone is monotonous, but a distant feeling boiling up while leisurely replenishing his teacup. Dan Feng keeps practicing a good listener's role and slowly sips the tea. The smoky steam flowing at the brim that carries a floral scent of Wildrose thread through his nostrils reduces mind stress.
Unknowingly, your one-way dialogue at the wooden terrace goes smoothly under the chilly downpour of early summer. When the homemade delicacy marries with the beverage is out of stock, and the tea is drying up in the pot, the shower stops falling, which renders a landscape as spectacular as pictured. At first, Dan Feng thought your lifestyle was a little too austere as if the only living being at a monastery and sealing away the community. Nevertheless, he comprehends the reason as the sunlight shines brightly again. The previous rain aqua absolutes all reveal a Shangri-La with a boundless field of vivid flowers. Boasting butterflies start levitating around the garden while a rainbow faintly appears on the horizon.
Imbibitor Lunae intended to carry his commission, but now, this Elysium might cast a spell to change his mind, to return once again. Furthermore, the treat you offered also brings up his appetite, so Dan Feng wants to taste them once again.
"Do you wish to grow any plant's breed?" - The High Elder says as he stands up from the wooden chair, fetching his cloak with eyes still fixed on the flowery domain unfold. You tilt your head quizzically because it is uncommon for him to open the conversation, unable to respond immediately. "I want to compensate you for your kindhearted hospitality." - He quickly clarifies your inquiry as if possessing mind-reading arts. This time, Dan Feng initiates eye contact with you; a gentle wind blows through, causing dispersed petals to swirl around. His lashes lightly move in approval when he hears your answer. Empirical Peony sure will gorgeously bloom under your care. Before leaving, Dan Feng abruptly halts his foot as he realizes he has forgotten something essential.
"What is your name?" You look at his tall back while snickering behind your palm to suppress the giggles. A cozy orange hue from the blazing flame that nestles in your fireplace shimmers on your face as you answer "Yi Ting. Yi in ripples on water, Ting in pretty."

Dan Feng x Fem!reader
He met you on a drizzling day when hydrangea fully bloomed on its field.

Chapter 6 (End)
Jing Yuan x Fem! reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, the reader has a default name, OOC, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT. (This is a work of fanfiction, events are not aligned or relevant to the original work)
Word count: ~3000
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
Note: The first line I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Tanpostblog, crazy-ghostwriter, babymarshall, lady-cryptstone, mikakosama, thatanonymouschocolate, xdrin, Jingyuanbeloved, and briacee for your constant support on this series. I planned on finishing it in five chapters, but it was longer than expected.
You were falling into an unlimited spiral abyss and witnessing how the flame phoenix was born. Suddenly, a horrendous scene unfolds in front of your eyes while running restlessly. The desolate landscape with appalling carnage full of heads, limbs, and gnawing bodies sprawling on the ground burdened on a red spider lilies field. You could practically hear their spirits accuse and curse your name for not saving them when the wind carrying a foul smell breezed. Everything was dyed in a dead vermillion hue as the bloodred moon glared upon soil permeated with millions of innocent lives.
You agonized over long and hard what to do, just fleeting from the dying world. You kept running until you saw the familiar shape on the apex of a hill built by multiple deceased bodies. Your eyes widen when you recognize Jing Yuan hanging on the wooden cross with a tored throat, limbs dissipated, and crows hovering above. Before you could scream out of horrifying, rotten hands rising from the surface grabbed your legs to sink you to hell. The last thing that remained was the cursed moon bleeding its black mud down.
The dreadful sight dispels as you jolt awake with cold sweat beads on your brows and forget everything about the nightmare as the utmost sore strikethrough your body. Only a little stir is enough to accumulate the aching. However, the coziness of Jing Yuan's embrace soothes your pain, which must be solace for his roughness last night. The sound of you waking up makes him smile slightly as he feels you cuddle against him. His hand reaches over to stroke your hair gently, causing a sense of warmth and comfort.
"Jing Yuan! What were you last night? A wild beast devoured his spouse alive?" You point your index finger at his nose, scolding him. The amber eyes waver, then alight with mischief when he looks back at you, trying not to laugh and shaking his head. He is unascertained if he wants to answer that question.
"Don't you dare to laugh! Do you have any idea how much it hurts right now?" You intend a feathery tap at his face, but the general quickly stops your wrist before it lands its target. His eyes narrow as he stares down at you, still holding your arm in place as he speaks calmly.
"I am truly sorry. I went overboard last night, so I beg your pardon, my lady."
He seems apologetic and genuine about what happened last night when Jing Yuan leads your hand to cup his cheek and kisses your palm. The free hand runs over your bruising chest with his hickeys when you caress his cheekbone affectionately and grant him amnesty. Then he leans forward to kiss you, slipping his tongue out and meeting yours whilst fingers lightly running along your neck. As he pulls away, Jing Yuan winks at you slyly.
You both were supposed to have a blissful marriage if the Stellaron Disaster was not downcast.
Your heart ached when the general returned from battle in an unconscious state again, and you began thinking of his laden responsibility. Being protected and protecting are two separate things asunder. What did it feel like to present as Luofu's General for millennia? Has he ever been tired of being bestowed with unparalleled intellect and peerless swordsmanship? Maybe you have hidden behind his wings and rested for too long. Hence, it was time for your turn to be his guardian, to fulfill your wish under that silver moon.
However, the mission got more challenging since Jing Yuan forbade and blocked your exploiting investigation of the case. A red denial ablaze brightly on the monitor whenever you try to access the information, and even agents of the Cabinet who were well-informed about the Stellaron refused to answer its topic. To obtain sufficient data for analysis, the intel of battling with Lord Phantylia is an invaluable fragment. As a result, the sole method is infiltrating his archive room to duplicate the data.
Your palms sweated, and Adrenaline coursed through your bloodline rapidly as you heard footsteps resonating closer to the archive's vicinity. Luckily, the replicating progress indicates successful copying before the general entry. Your heart beat loudly at the eardrum when concealing under the trapdoor and overhearing their off-topic chit-chat. A bizarre feeling settled in your ribcage as soon as Lieutenant Yanqing shifted the conservation into Lady Tingyun's affair; Lord Jing Yuan cleverly avoided discussing it and walked out once he found the needed document.
Your suspicion was soon confirmed at night when he asked you to bring his demanded file from the study room. This Arbitrary-General only needs an excuse to pull you into his lap with arms secured around your waist, preventing you from running off. The papers fall messily on the cold tile floor for all he cares while Jing Yuan settles you steadily on his thigh.
"You sneaked into my archive room today, didn't you?"
Your blood froze on the spot when hearing the sternness laces in his voice, and you could tell he was mad by the intense stare in those narrowed eyes. You were sure to successfully hack and insert illusion into all the surveillance cameras without leaving a doubtful trace. Nevertheless, the moment you prefer to object, your husband points out the undeniable evidence that keeps your mouth shut because you would never expect every existence in the archive to live for a purpose. His brush pen laid oblique compared to the original place indicated in your presence since only you two shared the accessed authority. Therefore, Jing Yuan takes your silence as an implied answer.
"A Zhi, please do me a favor just for this time." - He dives head into your sternum, exhaling his favorite scent. - "Whether it is a felony or misdemeanor in Luofu, I will assign it to you as you wish in exchange for retreating from this Stellaron's study."
The nuance in his beseech expresses its critical level, so your reason to follow the case magnifies significantly. Being consorts for centuries, the general can sense your definitive response before you materialize it vocally.
"Don't force me to impose on you more restrictions." - His voice mutates as strictly as iron, and the mild amber orbs morph into icebergs. Jing Yuan interprets your stubbornness, so he must not falter because he swore an oath to his name, even your father, to keep you from harm at all cost. Thus, this is not a rash threat.
After sharing a long stare competition, you attempt to push your luck by tracing fingertips along his hem's collar and start negotiating. Nevertheless, he does not back off, remaining immovable as a stone figure.
"I had better understand that 'The same trick won't do twice.' more than anyone else as a Strategic advisor." - You chide yourself while pushing your hands up in a surrendering manner and claiming your withdrawal. The general knows it is a lie, yet he wants to believe in your lie.
However, the cost of defying reduces your chance to zero. You never think he could be this ruthless when it comes to warfare. The first dispute you two have encountered leads to the bitter end when he constrains you as a punishment. Not only do you hand the USB over to him, but Jing Yuan also forfeits your accessed authority to his archive and temporarily discharges your position in the Internal Affairs Bureau. Although the man chooses to put faith in your dishonesty, that does not mean he sits duck and forecasts the second rebellion.
"The guest room might serve your service." - You press cold lips against his earlobe to fake a kiss, breathe in slowly to suppress the fury that awaits to explode. - "Begone, out of my sight."
Both of you know that he does not even mind sleeping in the corridor in the condition to get you off Stellaron's case. To you, this argument and those limitations are nothing more than gravel scattering in your path. Conversely, they may be a potential opportunity to exploit. From now onward, it is an underground battle of wits between the Luofu's general and his strategist. Whoever gets the fastest information will win.
With your interim situation, continuing to collect and analyze the data in the Cabinet is no longer a feasible option. Hence, the Astral crew will be one of your allies now, but you cannot let your guard down to directly connect to them. Every step and each alternative you take will stake your liability if Jing Yuan recognizes the intrigue. Employing spies to mine their information is a sensible way to conceal your hands, and thanks to the brief time interacting with them, you can depict their personalities. March 7th and the Trailblazer are amiable friends who are inclined to share the intel. As for Mister Yang, you should be wary of this man when assigning your subordinates around him.
In addition to your partners, Blade and Kafka might not escape Luofu yet because their wanted posters cover every alley. And a competitive merchant could acquire benefits if taking advantage of quid pro quo. You deem the Arbitrary General was too tolerant to restrain someone. If he were cruel enough to shut you in a cell, you would not contract with Silver Wolf. With this genius hacker, you can unauthorized access the network of Internal Affairs freely to obtain top-secret information.
"You will become a political criminal and be accused of national betrayal, Lady Jin." - The angelic voice of the purple-haired woman singsong at your side while making a deal. Her saccharine smile dripping with nullifying nerve poison did not cast a jinx on you. As long as you are eligible to rescue Xianzhou, you do not mind hand-tarnishing and playing the villain's role.
Furthermore, to prevent your information blockchain from leaking or any accidents, you divide the source into two segments: electronic data and physical version. As for the software, you are confident about Silver Wolf's system, and the spy team will develop a coding system that only you can decipher those materialized documents.
You are now very close to the truth of Stellaron and the purpose of Tingyun's missing. This battle is not just about wits, but also about psychology because your mentality will break at any time when working under intense pressure, and you are positive that Jing Yuan still keeps a tab on your actions. It seems like walking onto a rope since any stripped steps will lead you to fall into an abyss. You have already gambled everything into this Stellaron case, so trivial mistakes are unacceptable.
"Xianzhou is in its dead end, huh?" - A hopeless sigh leaves your lips as you drum the Ambrosial Abor's bark on the table. It was once a remnant of Phantylia's physical body and still lingering her power. You ordered a reconnaissance mission for Yu Ye - one of your spies, to scout Scalegorge Waterscape and collect some observations. According to the final analysis, it turns out like you used to suspect. Disciples of the Sanctus Medicus organization have an inextricable link to the path of Destruction, and Danshu is their leader. The bags under your eyes connote white nights of restlessly investigating the case and strategizing an offensive plan. However, the more you try, the more desperate you get because the end of Xianzhou is nigh.
"General will rampage..." - You pungently laugh while considering the ace to rescue the ship from its wreckage.
Three days after your finding, Lord Phantylia ambushes with another appearance and boundless potency. She synthesizes with the Ambrosial Abor and devastates all axis avenues to isolate the Divination Commission. The bell of an urgent evacuation was announced deafeningly as the defensive force assembled under the general's order. The Internal Affairs determines this turmoil with the highest rank: The Grand Calamity. Jing Yuan and the Astral Express, including the support of Imbibitor Lunae's incarnation, combat valiantly to repel her attacks, even rip off her earthly body again. But alas, the assault was no more than bait to whittle their stamina.
The vassals of Destruction are truly twisted creatures because Phantylia used Tingyun as her backup vessel to manifest as a pseudo-embodiment. The circumstance gets dire when Jing Yuan eradicates her presentation. Phantylia's insane laugh echoes across the frontline when she obtains her end, revealing that Stellaron's core gained its humanoid attribute inlaid into the tree, which has grown maturity and is about to blow away Luofu. Everyone roots their feet on the ground, trucking with astonishment when they realize it took Tingyun's features for preference. In the meantime, you have fully prepared and hurriedly advanced to the battlefield.
"You will die." - said Fu Xuan, who abruptly hinders your way with two Cloud Knight soldiers standing behind. You silently commend her clairvoyance as clutching on the long sleeve. General's order or not, you will not be backward this time and instinctively initiate the combat stance without saying. However, to your surprise, Fu Xuan raises her hand to display a military-style greeting.
"Farewell, Tactician. We will always remember you."
The usual stoic face transfers into solemnness, and a faint smile decorates her complexion when you reciprocate her respects. The Apocalypse has befallen Luofu, so either going to the gallows today or tomorrow, your destiny is inevitable. Reversely, Xianzhou will be safe if she lets you go.
"Then, I go first. Goodbye, Master Diviner."
Little do you know, as soon as your turning heels march forth, tears cascade like small streams on Fu Xuan's features because she knows this is the last conversation. Her hand keeps in place while watching your figure gradually shrink into the bands of light, embarking on the suicide mission.
Twilight dyes the Cetral Starskiff Haven into a honeyed hue, pouring his shadow long onto the cemented ground. The evening breeze wafts in the scent of mid-summer, causing the scarlet hair tie to dangle slowly while Jing Yuan is grazing the sunset. His mind winds up reminiscing about your record, about that fatal day.
You confessed all your sins, described detailed tactics of your scheme in a willing video, and pinpointed your study's whereabouts in the first half.
[...Luofu needs you, Lord Jing Yuan. I was always the one who was protected, so this is my turn to protect you as well as the whole of Xianzhou. As a discerning general, I ascertained you know it is impossible to win without casualties and sacrifices more than anyone else. Even though offering up my life cannot redeem my crime, I still hope you will forgive me.]
Your arrival at the frontline was most opportune when everyone was on their knees. Jing Yuan's pupils squeezed at the scene of you proceeding forward with a peary shaman uniform. As you acknowledged your presence, a sudden sensation of a familiar and alien mixture boiled up his blood like a deja vu phenomenon. He foresaw a vicious omen when the milieu gradually shifted into a foreign landscape according to your spells. Precisely, the one with a flowery blooming hill and roseate pastel petals looms freely. Because the Stellaron's core was attached to the Ambrosial Arbor's ley line, the sensible way to destroy it was using your fate to cut off the link between them by creating a Bounded Field.
You acquired the relic and its summoning rhapsody from a nomadic entrepreneur for your collecting hobby. At first, you thought it was no more than a myth until you nearly died in an impromptu trial. Jing Yuan never barked orders to you before, but he did back then because this ancient omnipotent power of Divine Phoenix would consume your life and shatter your spirit core, which meant you could not reincarnate.
However, staying in the cosmos of the Imaginary Hanging Garden, he was but a spectator who bore witness to the sacrificial rite.
"Breath of flame, wings of iron
Resurrect in the evening shroud
We seek for thine salvation
Hear me, and materialize thineself, Millennial Aegis!"
The light of four directions rendezvous immediately at the melody from your jade flute. Aurora borealis proudly formed the cupola shape aloft while the Orion constellation blazed in the vermillion sky. All the exaggerated phenomena used to welcome a gigantic phoenix descends.
A paramount terror besieged Jing Yuan's features when he saw the Extreme Crevasse covering your hands and creeping up your face.
When Millenial Aegis beat its wings and annihilated the Stellaron's core, the Bounded Field progressively faded, and so did you. The general darted toward you as quickly as possible, but your body completely evaporated into the ether, leaving behind your belongings before he could reach you. The jade flute carving of an elaborate phoenix rolled beside his heel whilst Jing Yuan held your shaman attire dumbfoundedly.
"Glory to the Xianzhou." was your last sentence with a peaceful smile.
Immortal is supposed to be a heavenly gift but turns out to be an eternal torment when it carries an unrecoverable wound and chronic affliction, which causes him half-dead, half-alive. Autumn left, Winter came, Spring withered, and endless loops of seasons with time dusting the old memories cannot replenish his hollow soul. Even in another life, you two will never have happiness because it is a perpetual partition. Jing Yuan does not usually tolerate liars, yet he made an exception for you because no matter how hard he tried, the man could not nurture grudges whom he loves to the world beyond. His heart still throbs beside your memento-the red Camillia hair ornament that neatly stays at the inner chest pocket but no longer shows vital signs.
[I am not afraid of falling into limbo. I only mind that my contribution becomes meaningless. Please live a happy life henceforth devoid of me because this is the last time I say 'I always love thee.']
Jing Yuan was just dreaming. Dreaming of having another chance to protect you and see your smile once again.
Millions of possibilities cannot bring you back; he knows because he tried.
Millions of tears either, he knows because he cried.
Footnote: I intend to write for Dan Feng next, but it will take a long time, and I won't post any fics in the near future. Therefore, you can unfollow me if you want. Again, thank you to all readers who love my fanfic.

Chapter 5
Jing Yuan x Fem! reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, the reader has a default name, smut, unprotected sex, oral sex, fingering, OOC, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
Word count: ~3200
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
You still see Lord Jing Yuan in the study room writing reports in the dead of night. An exasperated sigh escapes your mouth as you lean on the door frame.
"Don't you think it is a little too late?"
The general looks up from the documents; his eyes soften when he sees your silhouette at the doorway. However, the expression soon transfers into concern when he perceives your upsetness. You stride toward his coordinate and try to reason with him, but Jing Yuan insists on getting the work done. At least he welcomes your companion as pulling a chair adjacent to his position, yet you intentionally choose to sit on his thigh. Despite your abnormal behavior baffles him a little, he says nothing.
After a moment, you drop the file on the table and divert attention to Jing Yuan by touching his features. Your fingertips begin grazing his nose, trailing down the sharp jawline, then lingering at his Adam's apple. Nevertheless, he seems unbothered as the golden orbs keep moving horizontally between the file's margin.
"General, do you plan to stay up until dawn?" - Your hot breath fans over the base of his neck as you mumble.
Much to your dismay, he merely hums in confirmation as letters appear restlessly on the paper without glancing. You bite your inner cheek when considering the final trump card. Abruptly, you cradle Jing Yuan's face in both hands to demand the attraction and kiss him tenderly.
"Now, do you think you can continue to work?"
At first, his body tenses slightly but quickly relaxes as he realizes what you want. The sultry in your voice did trigger his senses as he finally sighed in defeat when setting the pen aside.
"Okay, I let you slide this time. I am sorry for neglecting you the whole time."
Lord Jing Yuan's hand moves slowly down your back and kisses your lips passionately. You gently caress his scalp while toying with his long locks. Soft moans start leaving as his hands move slowly down your waist and onto your hips to ground you firmly against himself. Your body temperature grows hotter each second passing, and blood runs rapidly in vessels as your heart pumps violently.
A long silver thread of saliva connects your lips when you two break the kiss. It feels like he sucked all oxygen from your lungs, and you can sense his rock-hard beneath you. The general opens his eyes to give you an intense gaze as a yearning flame glittering in his pupils. You know that Jing Yuan is transforming because Oxytocin chases down your brain now. Your breathing becomes heavier and more rapid, but he does not want to waste this precious time. His Highness's hand moves up to support your nape when he crashes your lips again for his tongue to explore every corner of your mouth and occasionally teases you by mischievously biting your lower lip. The other hand snakes over your hips and tightens around your waist.
Wrapping your arms around his neck, you start moaning loudly into his mouth as he tilts his head to kiss you contently. After a while, the general pulls out and looks at your face with predator's eyes, which permeate earnest desire. He immediately uses his forearm to wipe the lump of documents to the right and inclines to shove your body on the table, but you timely stop him.
"We should retire to our room."
Jing Yuan's stare bores into yours, and a wide grin appears on his facade as he carries you in bridal style. The door closes with a noisy thud after entering your shared room. You both fall onto the mattress, and he continues what was interrupted in the study room. You resume connecting through a hectic kiss while his hands take time as they grope your litheness to admire every curve, slowly unraveling your bodice. Once your breasts reveal to him, he takes one of your nipples and gently squeezes it. Dark bruises start forming when the general drags his wet kiss down your collarbone.
"It took you 300 years to fall in love with me, hm? Such a procrastinator."
He finally stops and cages you between his strong arms with fierce passion in his gaze. A husky voice infuses with playfulness when Jing Yuan opens his words. You give him a small smile before cupping his cheek affectionately.
"Pardon for my tardiness. Now I'm here to pay for my debt."
"You're quite right. But what if this is not enough?" He teasingly asks while molding your breast.
"My lord is so greedy, isn't he? Then, I guess I will use my lifetime to stay by his side."
The Arbitary-General seems satisfied with your promise as he leans to kiss your lips again. Pink blushes dust on your cheekbones as the ghost of his hand caresses your lower belly, making chill drive along your spine and goosebumps. Once finished undressing you, Jing Yuan lowers himself to slot between your legs and sniffs your inner thigh.
"We just prelude, and you are already this wet?" - He mockingly asks when running a finger at your damp core.
"Stop teasing, or else you will gain nothing tonight!" - Your face reddens harder as you pout at his comment.
He grins widely at your embarrassment, then marks the delicate skin while slowly heading to your entrance. The avidity of shocking electricity paralyzes your body as you puff out a steamy breath when the general drags his tongue and starts eating you out. His growls become louder at the sensitivity as he looks up with a smug smile and licks you more intensely.
His hands reach up to squeeze your thighs and rub them vigorously. The moist tongue ignites the lustful blaze sleeping inside as it works tirelessly and licks up every drop of your juice until you let out a soft moan. You reach your hands out to dig into Jing Yuan's hair and slowly massage his scalp while panting hard from pleasure. He smirks when he hears your purrs and keeps sucking until you finally climaxes. You could feel the roughness against your folds, but it felt good simultaneously. When you orgasm, you grip his head tightly and dig your fingers deep into his head. Jing Yuan looks extremely hot when drool mixed with your cum rolls down his chin as the general look up to inspect your face.
"Let us go to the main course, shall we?" He slicks back his bangs and hovers above you. It is a rare sight to expose the total complexion like this when looking down with a sly smile.
"Eh? I...I thought we finished." - You were confused by his statement.
"Oh no dear, not yet. We have plenty of fun left to do before we can call this night over."
The general grins mischievously and bites your neck, causing another shudder to run through your body. The moment you witness the glowy amber orbs shining like cat eyes in the shadow, you are doomed. Therefore, being proactive is the only way to save your face. Regaining all courage, you grab his collar and kiss him deeply while striving to swap your current position.
"If so, I'm on the game too." - You breathlessly say with an unstably heaving chest.
Your request pokes his hidden interest since you have never been this bold. Jing Yuan's lip corner tucks upward with overwhelming implication, an enigmatic glint in his eyes when he concurs with you.
"But don't forget that I am right here by your side, ready to support you in any way possible."
Your hands find their ways to discard his attire clumsily
until he lies bare underneath you. A body shape epitomizes a masterpiece of the most prominent marble sculpture with exquisite collarbones and toned abs. You feel your head is fuming due to overheating as you look at him in this position. Reversely, the Abitary-General seems to enjoy your inexperience.
"I can hear the volume of your heart beating, dearie." - Jing Yuan promptly points out and tugs your hand toward his left chest. - "Like mine."
You ponder whether it was a psychological trick because the anxiety decreases as soon as you feel his rhythm. You then continue to doff the boxers and free his manhood. It erects skyward with pre cum smears on the tip and trails along with its vein. Your mind runs wild as you stroke his member a few times before adjusting the position to align your entrance with his cock. However, things do not go as smoothly as you expected when the hole refuses to swallow his length completely.
The general prefers to watch you struggle a little longer but binds to support his lady. He grasps your hips and abruptly sinks you with a quick motion. You let out a painful expression before a long moan as his member stretches your cunt out. More or less, it has been 300 years since the last time you two intimated, so it hurts when he intrudes inside, but it is not as painful as the moment he took your virginity.
Beginning at a slow pace, and you gradually speed up as soon as the sting diminishes. Your bosom bounces up and down eagerly as pleasure washes over your nervous system.
"Oh~ Not bad though!" He amusedly chuckles while watching you ride his erection enthusiastically. It is a nice view to look up at you at this time. Jing Yuan's hands travel along your thighs, then cup your ass and knead it for a while before clutching at your waist to accelerate the pace. However, the show does not last long as your stamina quickly runs out, and all you can do now is panting heavily with uneven breathing. He takes that as a time-out, and you have reached your limit.
"You should be more prudential in decision-making next time, honey."
With a fluid motion, your position swaps, and he is now smirking down mischievously as he wraps your legs around his torso. Jing Yuan assumes you have learned your lesson while he watches your reaction closely. He holds your hips and starts moving. With just a few thrusts, you begin seeing stars and moaning continuously.
"Aww...look how much you like it!" The general coos aloft with excitement, yet you cannot respond verbally because your mind is occupied now.
He starts accelerating the pace, and his tip ceaselessly brushes your G-spot. You two begin groaning loudly together when Jing Yuan hooks your legs over his shoulders, folding you in half. You have already dedicated your physical body and soul to him at the moment you scream out his name without the title. He knows for sure victory is on his side now.
The stars disappear and ascend to the other level as you see paradise accompanied by hedonistic feelings coursing through your vessels.
The way he kisses you derives from pure love, and the sustainability from squeezing your hand shows his affection. The way he pistols into you represents his lust only for nobody except you.
"Jing Yuan, I...love you." - You officially confess in a fragile voice that follows with a long moan. His eyes widen when he hears your words of devotion. He smiles widely and leans down to kiss you passionately before pulling away.
"You've finally said it."
Then, the general traces his mouth to suck one of your breasts, his tongue skillfully swirling around and teasingly biting the peaked nipple while molding the other tenderly. You are so close to the climax, and the orgasm is like a bomb that nearly bursts out. Tears of ecstasy are leaking out as you writhe under your consort. He moves back up to mount you again, holding himself up with his arms. His erection enters you ruthlessly, but it is much faster than before.
"Hold on a little longer, darling. Wanna cum with you."
It goes deeper and faster, causing you both to feel pleasure beyond belief. At full speed, Jing Yuan suddenly stops, pulls out, and releases all over your bellies. He collapses on top of you, panting heavily. After a brief silence, when breaths progressively even, you wrap arms around his muscular torso.
"O Jing Yuan legendary general, tell me, do you fear anything?"
"Fear? Nothing but losing you. But what about you? Do you have any fears?" He nuzzles into your neck and starts rubbing your shoulder.
You give him a weak giggle before answering.
"I don't fear anything either. As long as I stay by your side."
Satisfied with the answer, he stands up and takes some paper tissues to clean you up first, then himself. When finished and got hydrated, he lifted your chin by index finger.
"So there's nothing else you want to ask me? No last wish or something?"
You look confused at the inquiry as Jing Yuan gives you a saccharine smile dripping with wolfish. He leans down to whisper in your ear.
"Are you ready for the last round then?"
You are stunned by his insatiate demand when repeating his question. He does not express himself verbally, but the wicked smile and haft-lidded eyes are the answer on his behalf. Your color drains out as you desperately object to spare your life.
"Oh, come on~ You're not that tired."
He coos and caresses your cheek affectionately. When you are about to open your mouth to reject, he shoves a slim finger into your hole, making you give out your pleasure with a soft moan instead of protesting. Your chest is heaving at the stimulation while he is twirling in a circular motion inside slowly. You steel yourself to confront him as not intend to yield in this time. However, before letting you complete the sentence, the Arbitary-General inserts the other finger and starts scissoring. The "Yes, I will" written over Jing Yuan's face with a devious grin as he grips both of your wrists and places them above your head with one hand while using his thumb to stroke your clit gently. You shake your head in despair, but the general leans over to murmur at your ear.
"No, darling...~"
The low-husky voice sends shivers down and tickles against your ear. Jing Yuan picks up his fingering pace in the velvety walls to coax you to consent. Your juice starts dripping out again and taints his wrist while tears burn your eyes. The grip gets tighter as if he wants to prevent you from moving away from him, and you finally give in. A satisfied smirk he wears turns into something sinister when he lets go of your wrists and withdraws his fingers. Jing Yuan licks off the fingers coated with your liquid as if it were nectar.
Then he shoves them into your mouth. A faint salty flavor with a fruity scent hits your tastebuds. You close your eyes and suck his fingers instinctively in an erotic manner. The fingertips gently brush teeth and stroke your soft tongue while saliva drools down your chin.
"Mmmh... you sure know how to make a man happy." He chuckles softly as you eagerly take his fingers into your mouth, happily moaning as you suckle on them.
"Now shall we begin?" - He slowly takes back his hand, tenderly holds your chin while grazing the lower lip, and wipes the spit away. - "Please lie down on your stomach and keep your ass up." - He commands politely, but the man of authority leaves you no room for negotiating. Therefore, obediently complying with his word is the best option.
However, your body suddenly halts as you realize how shameful this posture is once you bend over. As if Jing Yuan has a knack for mind-reading, he effortlessly processes your thoughts and assures you that you will soon like it. He seizes your hip with fingers digging deeply into your spongy flesh and lifts your ass higher. With a strong thrust, his manhood completely sheathes into your sex and reaches the furthest point you have ever experienced. Your whole body shakes vigorously at the newfound pleasure as you grasp a handful of the bedsheet.
"AHHHH~"
The general looks down with a confident smile as he sees your reaction.
"So you like it rough? Well, fine by me!" - His voice is deep and calm when giving you another powerful thrust, causing you to moan loudly.
He continues pounding his member into your abused cunt ceaselessly and leans down to give chaste kisses on your shoulder. The "I love you." Jing Yuan says nonstop while nibbling your ear, and his steamy breath breezes behind you. Your body would collapse if he did not hold you steadily. The mundane noise of bodies colliding that echoes across the room is the lewdest sound you have ever heard. It even can easily embarrass a mature person.
His breathing becomes heavier, panting rapidly, and his grip tightens around your waist as he pierces harder and faster. Your mewls are getting louder, and he seems to enjoy hearing the melodic voice in pleasure.
He groans each time he slams against the sensitive walls. Your moans turn to whimpers and finally to screams of pleasure as you reach your climax.
"So! This spot is for you!"
The general confidently exclaims as he finds your G-spot and hits it hard. With his surprised present, You freeze for a short beat before screeching his name at the top of your lungs as loud as you can.
"Ahh... Yes.. That's right! Scream for me, solely my name."
He grins and begins to pound away at you even more violently now, making sure to touch every ounce inch of your inner walls over and over.
Your bed starts crackling at the brutal force. It must be because of its accumulated depreciation and the vibration frequency, but you hardly notice now since your senses start feeling numb. You cry and squirm at the ecstasy he gives as your consciousness gradually fades away. Before drifting into a devoid space, you mentally note that you will never seduce this fearful man again. Jing Yuan notices your current state as the moans become increasingly quiet and muffled. A twisted smile paints his face as he hears you mumble something incoherent. It sounds almost like a plea. But what could that possibly mean...?
He continues to pound away at you forcefully, giving you no mercy whatsoever and is relentless in his assault. After intercourse for three rounds a night, Jing Yuan knew precisely when your orgasm would come. He slowed down his pace as he sensed it and started thrusting sloppily. As soon as your cum releases itself automatically and streams down your thighs. The general immediately entered his manhood inside again and filled you up with his thick liquid until your womb overflowed with his earthly seeds. With that, you completely shut down from exhaustion. He groans softly when withdrawing his erection and is satisfied with how well he can please you.
After giving you essential aftercare and redressing yourselves, Jing Yuan collapses beside you. He tucks a few strands behind your ear and kisses your forehead lovingly before dozing off.

Chapter 4
Jing Yuan x Fem! reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, the reader has a default name, OOC, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT. (This is a work of fanfiction, events are not aligned or relevant to the original work)
Word count: ~2300
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
Not long after, you were recruited as his Strategic advisor and responsible for internal affairs. At first, you thought there would be disputes and inefficiency when working with Lord Jing Yuan, but the fact reverses. You and the general surprisingly harmonized in working together. Hence, the next fifty years of marriage continue to flow smoothly.
When you start thinking this is what happens for the rest of your life, the wheel of fate fails astray its railway, once again.
One day while you and Lord Jing Yuan were supervising the Artisanship Commission, mara-struck Cloud knights ambushed you. After just a millisecond of exchanging thoughts in silence, you two have agreed on the proper course of action in this urgent situation. He actively blocks and takes the enemies down at the front line as you evacuate innocent citizens and protect them with Baritsu or even Jujustu if a quotient enemy manages to get past the general's defense. It is supposed to be a perfect plan as Jing Yuan could easily fend off the attack to stall time for the evacuation and reinforcement. Nevertheless, the table suddenly turns when foes actively change to target your swing, which makes the circumstance dire.
"A Zhi, watch out!" - You only hear the general shouts a warning. As soon as turning around, you see red.
Your pupils squeeze at the dreadful sight of Lord Jing Yuan shedding blood because he used his body to shield you from the mortal wound. Before staggering, he quickly decapitates the said enemy with sublime swordsmanship. Time seems to freeze, and everything is immovable as you witness the fearful scene since you never see him in this state. A wrathful aura with bloodthirst he gives off sends a chilly shiver down your spine. However, Jing Yuan draws his sword into the ground to refuse to kneel.
You will never forget the moment rushing toward to support him. The slash runs from his left back shoulder to his right hip, and the smell of rusty iron intrudes your nostrils as the bright red stains your hands. Those things make your blood run cold and leave you incapacity.
"I'm glad you are okay." - the general now completely lean on your figure and only murmurs the last sentence in your ear before blackout due to blood loss. Fortunately, the reinforcement finally comes in time to suppress the chaotic situation.
"That fatal blow intended to reap your soul. If Lord Jing Yuan did not shield you, it would massacre you into two pieces."
The statement of Lady Bailu keeps roaming over and over your head, as you sit beside the bed and hold his hand dearly. After the assault, the general was hospitalized at Alchemy Commission and stayed limp in a coma for five days. Jing Yuan's body temperature is hot, and his palms are always cozy against your skin, but now, it feels like you are touching a marble figure. Cold and lifeless. Your heart aches whenever skimming over his pale complexion to see a feeble breath that looks like his longevity emits through exhalation. It must be your illusion since you barely sleep these days and vitality drains from your brain. Negative thoughts start overwhelming your mind as thinking the worst scenario. "What if...he never wakes up?" - That question replays countless times as you bring his hand to cup your cheek to seek solace. The burning sensation in your tired eyes accumulates to form woe tears.
Meanwhile, the general had a bad dream in his comatose status, in other words, a nightmarish one. His mentality treks across a vast sea of twinkling stars and finally arrives at a flowery blooming hill, roseate pastel petals looming freely at the landscape. Jing Yuan sees a man from afar, and he is mourning. His feet automatically take control as he dashes toward the man and backpedals to recognize his other essence.
"Lord Jing Yuan, are you crying?" - You abruptly appear in a spirit body with a glowy halo luminance, and a sad smile decorates your feature.
"I am sorry." - You gently mumble while wrapping your arms around his other essence, but he seems unbothered. Or rather, he cannot sense it. Too close yet so distant. Jing Yuan's mind goes wild at the scene, but unable to move. The last thing he sees is a blazing crimson ray shining bright under sunlight from your red Camillia hairpin.
His Highness is pulled back to the present and finds tears threatening to fall from your lower eyelids.
"I don't like seeing my lady cries."
Your lashes fly open at a familiar low-tone voice. The gentle Autumn glint in his amber orbs never changes when watching you. Jing Yuan uses his thumb to attempt to wipe your tears but only makes them roll faster. They finally burst out and cascade like two small springs on your face as you are paralyzed.
The general thinks every cloud has a silver lining because the proximity between you two shortens, and the invisible wall begins crumbling. His dream is no longer a fleeting fantasy as you comply with his childish requests, even receiving his affection. If trolling around the hellscape is the external push factor bringing you to his arms, a worthy price to pay.
"Why did you shield me, your Highness? We are immortals, so the ordinary wounds will not kill us?" - You finally give out curiousness while feeding him with an oat porridge bowl. Lord Jing Yuan answers as a matter of fact that he wants to keep you away from any harm at all costs.
"What kind of legendary general cannot protect his wife?" He adds and chuckles at your inquiry.
Warmth blooms over your heart. Perhaps, you eventually felt for Jing Yuan after two hundred years.
Three months later.
"You should stay at Alchemy Commission for at least one following month." - Thanks to his prime, the injury healed quickly, and his recovery process was shortened than anticipated. He is supposed to stay longer at the Alchemy Commission for advanced monitoring, yet he decided to discharge sooner.
"I knew that, but I want to sleep with my lady." - the general tightens his embrace around your waist, nuzzling your hair.
You two keep silent for a while and lie still as a bizarre mellow tranquillity nestles in your mind. If it were you back two centuries ago, you must be pondering what kind of this feeling. However, you of the present tense acquire the answer that you miss him and wish to sleep by your husband's side too.
"About the ambush..." - Jing Yuan's voice arouses the serenity of the night veil - "It was an organized crime" - you looking at the void when completing his sentence.
"Pretty sharp as always, are we?" - A low chuckle escapes his lips and resonates behind your back.
When connecting the dots, that is a proper conclusion you can draw. The mara-struck occurred accurately when you two were at the center as traffic and the crowd were at a peak. Moreover, the comms signal was more sluggish than usual, which indicates an anonymous party dipped its hand to hinder information connection. That explains why the reinforcement arrived late and pushed you into a passive state by prolonging your defense time. On top of that, the most convincing factor was the enemies' movement. Ordinarily, Cloudknights with Mara-struck would attack any living identities in their eyesight, but they changed target to you as if somebody commanded or manipulated them to shift behavior. In addition, there was a high possibility that they were domestic criminals because they knew you were always the general's weakness and familiar with your schedule. Only people who stay long enough in Xianzhou Luofu recognize this point. Or even worse when treacherous power hides among your authority.
You give out an exasperated sigh thinking about the subject. You silently hope the criminals did not conclude with foreign factors because things gradually grew more complex. The event feels like a bell that prophesies a vicious storm to Xianzhou.
After fully recovering, you two begin to investigate the ambush and explore the existence of an organization called Disciples of Sanctus Medicus. They followed the path of Aeon Abundance and plotted a grand scheme to overthrow the current government. There was also convincing evidence pointing to their failed attempt to assassinate the Abitrary-General. Not long after, Lord Jing Yuan and the Internal Bureau opened an expanded operation to eliminate that organization. All the data and files from this performance were saved as the utmost military secrets and unpublic. However, as soon as the underground battle successfully ended, his Highness got the intel that the Abundance's evils were devasting the other ships. Hence, the Xianzhou Alliance summons him to partake in their purging expeditionary.
The two of you do not measure the duration of his absence, but the general will not return before several upcoming decades. You suspect the ensnarement was just a catalyst of the event sequence, or maybe you are too skeptical to theorize a nonsense hypothesis.
You sigh softly as your hand is placed flat on his chest armor before seeing him off but say nothing. Lord Jing Yuan takes it and squeezes a little, still keeping silent.
"General...please take good care of yourself from now on and return to Luofu safely."
He scans over your face and cannot read your mind yet. Perhaps, both of you have tangled thoughts and do not know how to display what kind of expression. He suddenly snuggles you into his embrace, and you hug him back firmly after a second of surprise. The usual scent of cedar wafting as you breathe in the base of his neck for one last time.
"You will always be here for me, right?" Jing Yuan's voice cracks slightly while your eyes start to tear up.
"I will wait for your glorious triumph and be here for you."
Your cheek presses against his chest armor as you whisper the response.
He feels light-hearted and looks down with a soft smile. His eyes seem to sparkle with affection and admiration towards you.
"Thank you...for everything. And please take care of yourself too. I will see you again someday."
With that short farewell, the general and you depart different paths.
All the Luofu's affairs are now your responsibilities and execute with Lady Fu Xuan. Since the absence of Lord Jing Yuan, time seems to stop flowing, and the four seasons no longer hold any meaning. To you, they are now the linear of weather morphing. Spring with hundreds of flowers blooming synergized with the honeyed love songs of birds does not reach your interest anymore. Summer comes along the blue sapphire sky, and the symphony of cicadas is a mere trait of fiery weather. Even the mellow Autumn hue used to remind you of his amber irises now seeming arid and tasteless.
"Your Ladyship...Your Ladyship!"
There is a concerned voice calling you desperately. It seems familiar, but you cannot figure it out as your clouded mind is incompetent now.
"Master Jin!"
The title finally does the trick when a sugar cube flops down your tea as you are back to reality.
"You space out again, your Ladyship." - Yanqing points out with a pout on his face.
You and your musical disciple have been playing chess, and it would be shameful if he finds out you are not concentrating on his movement. However, the young boy is far intelligent to hit your nerve with another fact. He beams before you recover.
"My master Jin must miss General too much."
Your dark frown at Yanqing sends him quivering a little.
"Since when did you become this audacity?"
He would be doomed if provoking you any further, so he says his apologies and excuses himself quickly to evade your forthcoming reprimands. Looking at the boy jump with joy, you assume Lord Jing Yuan was too lenient with him. Maybe, so were you.
Either way, your shared disciple hit your bullseye as you thought about Jing Yuan more frequently lately. Due to the attribute of every war, you must avoid all electronic devices with short wavelengths to prevent line-tracking. Moreover, to secure leaking any secrets, you incinerate every letter Lord Jing Yuan sent once done reading. It has been nearly one hundred-odd year pass, and you lost count of the letters exchanged. You cannot help but ponder what he felt when waiting for you to reciprocate his love because it is unbearably painful now. You divert concentration on the snow-besieged yard where frost blasted every bud except for one thing. Red camellia still prominently blossoms at the ethereal white despite the harsh weather. Whenever looking snowflakes fall ceaselessly like this, you imagine them as dandelion clocks dancing around the ambiance. Your mind starts drifting back to the old memory when the two of you drank wine and contemplated the full moon.
"Have you ever seen any shooting stars, Lord Jing Yuan?" - You asked him while watching a burgundy maelstrom swirling in your crystal glass.
"Not yet. Something in your mind?"
A halation crowned above Jing Yuan's head when drawing attention to you. He looked like a divine creation when bathing under that hazy moonlight then. You might be drunk as seeing the blurry silvery locks adorning his face.
"People said that wishes will come true if you finish your sentence before they disappear." - You zoomed out your eyesight to the endless celestial bodies skyward, shining like hidden gems - "I...want to be your hero for once."
You finally closed your dreamy eyes and dozed off on the general's shoulder.
Finally, the expeditionary finished with a victory when the cherry blossom flourished. All of Xianzhou Loufu's corners sing the triumphal hymn to welcome back their legendary general as swallows levitate in the high sky. As soon as Jing Yuan returns to his estate, you jump on to hug him. Being crashed surprisedly, he loses his balance leading you both to land on the floor. After some moments, he manages to get himself up, and he feels like his heart nearly explodes with joy as clinging to you once more.
"A Zhi, I am home."

Chapter 3
Jing Yuan x Fem! reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, the reader has a default name, OOC, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
Word count: ~2300
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
Note: I don't know how you can find my fanfic, but I am genuinely grateful for your support. This will be a short series, and I have already had an ending for it.
However, the general refuses to sleep, his mind falling into spiral thoughts and wandering to the golden day you two first met.
"I didn't expect that a businesswoman could perry those blows fluidly. They were all perfect movements." - Lord Jing Yuan brightly praised as he escorted you to the Stargazer Navalia's clinic.
"Father taught me Jujutsu to protect myself in many dangerous circumstances, and a merchant must know some martial art when traveling alone." You replied with a small smile, yet melancholy vaguely clouded your eyes, which Jing Yuan quickly noticed. Your father was a strict and conservative man, so his decision was ultimate. Growing up with countless rules and rigid regulations was the factor of robotic demeanors but resourcefulness in your personality.
Throughout the escorting time, the general loved listening to your distant dreams and seeing your smile, even if you rarely did. Therefore, Jing Yuan cherished each second of staying by your side; and he felt the path shortened more than expected when the two of you reached your destination. Since that day, he could not get rid of your figure, his mind kept rewinding your smile as a broken record, and a nice glow bloomed over his chest as he thought about you. Jing Yuan supposed he headed over heel for you because of the dauntless action and your intellect. Jujutsu was an art of self-defense, but you also used it to taunt the enemy's attention and protect your partner valiantly.
However, the general did not gain any contact information except your name, so it took him two months to investigate your identity. He knew it was his fault when taking you against your will, but he could not afford to lose his beloved again.
"I vow to my name. By all my intelligence and power, I will protect and adore you forever." - Lord Jing Yuan silently declares as he kisses your lock lovingly.
You finally woke up and saw him sleeping soundly beside you. His strong arms are wrapped tightly around you. Your body feels relaxed from last night's activities. As soon as you see his face, a shiver runs down your spine as the last-night event flashes back. You quickly turn around and start criticizing yourself.
" We...we had sex" - The heat is creeping up to your ears again when you recall the general's lustful face pounding into you mercilessly. As you intend to move out, he hugs your frame even tighter.
"Stay by my side a little longer, will you?" - The general still closed his eyes and murmured in the morning voice. You feel yourself blush harder as turning to him and argue that you both overslept and he should be ready to attend at the Cloudfort. You secretly felt grateful for regaining your sanity and confidence to face him.
His Highness slowly opens his eyes and softly caresses your cheek, a hint of playfulness dancing in his orbs.
"Don't worry about it. We both got tired after all those fun times yesterday."
Your eyes divert elsewhere except those amber pupils as you gently remove his hand and let go of him.
"Very well then, you can stay as you wish. I will freshen up first."
The moment you start walking, sudden aching shocks to the very core cause you to stumble on the floor. Lord Jing Yuan quickly catches you before you fall. He helps you stand up and holds you close to him, wrapping his arms around you protectively. A knowing concern washes over his face. You politely thank him when peeling your body off him again to take the cloak covering your naked body and carefully stride up to the bathroom. After you leave the room, he sits on the bed, looking at the ceiling. He sighs deeply, thinking about what happened yesterday. A smile appears on his lips as he thinks about how beautiful you were last night.
As soon as at the private space, you quickly wear off the robe and inspect yourself in the mirror. Three hickeys scatter on your collarbones, several toothprints on your shoulder blade, and a handprint faintly bruise your hips.
You gave an exasperated sigh and internally lamented at the consequence of a passionate night. When you finish freshening up and leaving the bath, your room has been cleaned and decorated with fresh flowers. The general is waiting for you at the dining table with a light meal. He is back in the usual military uniform. His tail hair also dripped off the water, showing he just had a quick shower in the other bathroom.
You both silently have breakfast together but are lost in thought. When ready to go off, Lord Jing Yuan places his hands on your shoulders and leans forward, pressing his forehead against yours.
"A Zhi, I...- Before he completes the sentence, you interrupted with a light curtsy which implied no farther advance - "I'll see you later, your Highness."
He nods slowly and says nothing, then before going to the Cloudfort, he turns back to bind goodbye to you, smiling softly.
We then live our plain days for the next one hundred years. Lord Jing Yuan keeps managing the Xianzhou. As for me, I coordinate the domestic affairs in his estate, sometimes being his temporary advisor. Thanks to the peace, I spent most of my time in Lord Jing Yuan's study room reading books or assigned to supervise some vicinity in Xianzhou Loufu. Through a century, I orchestrated him into countless decoys, yet the general never fails into them, even one. The general also attempted to close our proximity but never fruitfulness because I cleverly avoided his affections all the time. As a result, those trials gradually died away as he recognized there was no way I felt in love with him.
Before the wedding, I used to tell Lord Jing Yuan that it hurt when love someone who did not love him, and it turned into truth. I could sense the sorrow behind his long lashes whenever facing me, yet there was nothing I was eligible to do. We still sleep in the same bed but are always people of two different worlds, and he never lays a finger on me again since the first night. We both are too stubborn, so the price to pay is spirit torture to eternity.
"General, her Ladyship...stays at the Exalting Sanctum and refuses to return the estate." - Yan Qing is his Highness's disciple adopted last year - reports awkwardly.
Lord Jing Yuan quirks an eyebrow at the young boy, and a small smile appears on his lips since this must be one of your traps. He genuinely loves and spoils you rotten, but the obstinateness needs a truce. The general decides to pick you up himself and quickly dismisses Yan Qing.
Before Jing Yuan arrived at the Exalting Sanctum, streetlights and flower-shaped lanterns lit gloriously across Xianzhou. The ship is even more vibrant than daylight. When rendezvous at the guest room, it seems you have been waiting for him as you read books and leisurely sipped tea.
"Three rounds of gaming chess. If you win any of them, I will let go of you. Or else, you must stop being stubborn and return to the estate with me." - He exclaims while sitting parallel to you with his chin resting on his palm.
You perceive that he eventually has lost all patience because of the annoyance in your behavior. The general has fallen into your long-term end when suggesting this treatment and his bargain chips. You expressionlessly observe Lord Jing Yuan's face while carefully calculating the next move. His frame indicates seriousness, yet there is indescribable confidence in the general's eyes. "It is an enormous gamble when playing in his specialty. However, the reward is too good to be true. What a dilemma." - You monologue and start weighing the elements.
"I accept the challenge, but you must concede me the first five moves in every round because I am on the disadvantageous side as playing your specialty." - You lower your voice when modifying the conditions prudentially. This factor will accumulate your victory and secure your safe point. "I will adapt to the general's playing style in the first round, plan the counteracted strategy in the consecutive wave, and checkmate him in the last game."
As soon as Jing Yuan quickly accepts and hums in amusement at the condition, you think the victorious goddess blessed your side. However, there is a fatal factor that you forget.
"Checkmate! A Zhi, you lost." - he calmly declares after winning three solid rounds.
[That he would rather die than let go of you.]
You look petrified at the chess with a hollow mind.
"Absolutely defeated..."
You unconsciously clench your hand so tight that the knuckles become white as a sheet of paper, and your palm threatens to bleed with the pressure of nails. "Lord Jing Yuan's style of playing chess is utterly peculiar. I could not get him because it constantly changed and nullified my moves."
You feel like you have gone berserk. Everything crumbles. The general of Xianzhou eliminated your strategy with detailed tactics and underwent an entire century in only one step. Suddenly, a warm hand thaws your icy one, which brings you back to reality as His Highness unravels your fingers.
"You are hurting yourself." - he gently massages your hand with a concerned look.
"My apologies, Lord Jing Yuan. I am just..." - Before you finish the sentence, Jing Yuan quickly removes his cloak to wrap it around your figure.
"It is getting chill outside, my dear. And don't worry. We can rematch any time you want with the same conditions."
You surprisingly inquire again as if you misheard him. The general pulls you into his embrace and confirms his answer as he pats your head lightly. A glee appears on his face because of two things. You did not push him away or evade his affection as usual, and he found a new hidden aspect of your personality. He never expects you to be that competitive.
"Let us head home. Little Jin."
You keep your words to the contract but rematch with him restlessly for the next 50 years. The loss counts up to 2573 rounds and shows no stop sign. Finally, you are bored with the repeating duty and head toward the botanic garden to refresh your mind with the old hobby.
The garden is enormously vast and sublimely tailored to look like the epitome of a pristine forest with emerald color. The dazzling sunlight of early Summer danced through the slit of leaves shining the pathway, and cicadas started their iconic song. You silently rejoice as soft breezes with a faint floral aroma gently caress your cheeks. You began playing a folk song with a bamboo flute, then all your favorite compositions. Birds also sing their melody along with your rhythm. A sudden clap resonates behind your back when completing. You turn around and see Lord Jing Yuan looking at you, grinning happily.
"Pardon me for my rudeness, your Highness. I didn't notice you were here." You quickly greet him with a small smile. A nightingale flies down to sit at his point finger, then mischievously jumps on his shoulder. The general watches the bird hopping up and down on his shoulder before looking at you.
"It's okay. Don't worry about it." - Jing Yuan's voice sounds gentle and soothing - "So, you are the musical master of Yan Qing? I saw a flute dangling at his side last week, yet I forgot to ask him."
You hum shortly as an answer to his rhetoric question and change the topic. After several dialogues, you learn that Jing Yuan usually stays in the garden to play chess with himself and accidentally hears you playing music. As your spirit is in a high mood, you suggest performing his requested songs. Time seems to flow slower to the general in this ardent Summer, and he feels this peaceful sentiment has not appeared for ages. There is always an invisible gigantic wall between you and him, but now, it is like a rendezvous of two soulmates after a century. Even if this short-lived moment is an ephemeral dream, Jing Yuan graciously treasures each second passing. As long as you stay by his side, nothing matters now.
When fulfilling the performance, the general maneuvers his hands, and you are astonished by a hairpin in his palm.
"I never expected my Lord can be a magician." - A light chuckle escapes your lips as you look at the ornament. It is an exquisitely carved camellia with ivory raindrops. The flower petal is as red as his hair tie, and the pistil shares the same color as Jing Yuan's eyes.
"I intended to gift the bespoken hairpin to you this evening. But my lady is here now, so the wait is needless." - he gently pins it on your hair and smiles brightly as compliments you.
A bittersweet suddenly tastes on your tongue as you subconsciously touch the carved flower. It is sweet because no matter how many times you gave him your cold shoulder, Lord Jing Yuan's adoration for you never changes. It is bitter because you feel guilty, unable to reciprocate his love. The two of you were then immersed in gaming chess at the wood pavilion in the garden until sunset. They were no longer rematches because you wanted to play mere chess with him, and you could practically see the jubilant sparkling in his eyes all day. However, the happier he is, the more sinful you feel. At night, when you both settle in bed, you ask him why you cannot win even a single time, or at least let you win a round since they were not re-challenges.
"Because losing to you means losing my lady forever." - There is clever wordplay in his answer as the general crosses his arms and stares at the ceiling. Although he hints at humor, you know that Jing Yuan is deadly serious and still clings to a sliver of hope of winning your heart.
"Hah...General is always stubborn, after all..." - You internally laugh, but it is humorless.

Chapter 2
Jing Yuan x Fem! reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, the reader has a default name, smut, unprotected sex, OOC, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
Word count: ~2000
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
Note: To be honest, I did not expect somebody to read this fic. However, there were still a (very) small number of readers who supported me. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely appreciate your interaction.
Two knocking sounds resonate across the room driving you to jump a little. You hurry back to the designed spot and put on the veil again.
The next thing you hear is the main door open as the general gets himself in and closes it gently. You sit tight with your hands gripping the fabric on your lap. "I swear I can hear the heartbeats on my ear drum now.''
He saunters over to you, tenderly lifts the veil out of your face, and a soft smile appears on his lips. There is a sliver of sadness in your beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and he did not miss it.
"My consort looks so stunning today."
You froze on the spot, and your eyes widened a little at the intimated proximity. Admittedly, at this closeness, he is charming at this marked event, and you even can sense the alcohol through his breaths. Although Lord Jing Yuan smells like cedar blended with grape wine, he is not drunk and completely conscious. After a blank of silence, you open your words lamely.
"Greetings, Lord Jing Yuan."
His golden orbs waver shortly at the title with a rigid demeanor, yet he quickly recovers and holds out his arm.
"May I have a dance with milady?"
The general never fails to surprise you, and you start wondering what the meaning behind this uncommon activity is. However, you accept the invitation by holding his hand and saying no word. Things happened as Jing Yuan secretly forecasted because your spirit and body gradually relax when dancing the waltz. The romantic atmosphere and the low hum of classical music soothe your anxiety efficiently. Now, you understand why he became the prominent general of Xianzhou since this mastermind can handle any circumstance fluidly. After a moment, Jing Yuan slowly pulls you into his embrace and envelopes your figure completely.
"Please stay with me." - His hot breath breezes your hair.
You were petrified at his words and stayed still in his arms, completely dumbfounded. His heartbeat sounds like a peaceful song in your ear while giving him a silent treatment. The general slowly takes your chin in his hand and leans down to kiss your lips which you quickly melt into him.
Your heart starts racing again, and blushes are present on your cheeks. Many people say that the first kiss tastes like lemon, but to your sense, it is as sweet as maple syrup with a fermenting scent.
Lord Jing Yuan detaches himself after a while, skims over your face as if asking for further advance, and gives you a break. When receiving your implied permission, he immediately crashes his lips to yours again. This time, the general does not hold down and kisses you passionately. His arm moves to support your neck as he deepens into your mouth, and the other wraps around your waist possessively as if afraid of you changing your mind and running away from him. There was a psychological noise yelling at you to push the general away, but his affection penetrated and neutralized it, so you started feeling him.
Hectic yet gentle are the accurate adjective that describes his kiss right now as you close your eyes and reciprocate his kiss. You circle your arms around his neck, dive your hands into his head, and start swirling his long lock. They always remind you of cotton candy. You accidentally free the crimson tie causing his hair to run down like a silver stream covering your mind-eyes. When satisfied, Jing Yuan breaks the kiss and looks straight at you, his eyes full of lust, and abruptly carries you to the bed.
He continues to savor your lips while stripping your wedding dress and discarding the jewelry. The chaste kiss drags down to your jawline, then your neck, and stops at your collarbone to leave a hickey. You also trace your hand at the hem of the general's attire to help him undress, and he moans softly as he feels your cool fingertips grazing his warm skin. Your sanity yells that you will regret this, but the circumstance is unstoppable, and you both are married now.
After a moment, your eyes flush open to see the general hovering above you, his long lock trails aside and cascades to your right like a curtain.
Lord Jing Yuan's muscles look like steel, and his fair skin seems radiant under the dim light. He smiles at you warmly and gently strokes your cheekbone with his thumb while the other hand caresses your thigh. His touch ignites your delicate skin. It feels like your body completely melts, and the heat burns you into ashes.
You never nake in front of anybody before, so under the general's stare, the blush blooms over your cheeks again. When you raise your hands to cover your red face, Jing Yuan pulls them out. The Autumn hue in his irises is devoid as his gaze is intense and focused.
"Don't hide your cute face from me, darling."
The general leans over and kisses you enthusiastically again, his tongue exploring your mouth deeply while his hand moves up and grabs your breast firmly, squeezing it gently. You start feeling the arousal between your legs with his interlude.
"Ah~ it feels so good. I will hate myself when dawn breaks, but it does not matter now. Not anymore."
You continue to writhe under him with your chest heaving. The general's grip tightens around your breast, and he squeezes them roughly.
"Lord Jing Yuan"
Finally, you could not hold back your ecstasy and mewled out his name.
He also moans softly as he continues kissing you passionately. His free hand travels down your body to cup your crotch firmly, and you can tell his manhood presses against your thigh.
As the juice starts leaking out where he cups your sex, your fingertips dig into his broadened shoulders as an erotic euphoria washes over like a high tide. The last remnant of sanity leaves your brain eventually, and you whisper in the general's ear.
"Ah-please, I want you."
"How shameful... 2 months ago, I firmly stated that I did not need him, but now I am begging him.
Oh, why? Why does this world loathe me that much?"
The general chuckles softly and pecks your cheek while moving his hands along your waist and then up your shoulders. He pushes himself away from you and sits up, and a sly grin spreads across his face as he looks down at you with amusement and says in a low voice.
 "What are you saying?"
"You bastard! He is taking advantage of my vulnerable state to hear my begging!" You grasp a pillow and throw it at his face, but the general evades it easily.
"I am saying that I hate you so much!"
Jing Yuan laughs loudly and seems unbothered at your emotional outburst. He hooks your legs around his torso and aligns your manhood with your entrance.
"Do you trust me?"
You pretty ascertain that your cheeks now redden as tomatoes. "That thing" is erected at the owner's body, and its sheer size is enough to scare you dead.
"Yes, but can you hold my hand?"
The general grins widely when he interwinds your hand tightly and whispers into your ear. The guilty paradise unfolds opposite his eyes. The heaven is tainted with helluva color.
"Of course, I won't hurt you."
He closes his eyes and leans forward, slowly beginning to trespass the forbidden dreamland, each inch stretching your walls wider than the one before. Once the entire length is inside, he stops and lets out a loud moan. You know he was gentle, but it's still painful. As if Lord Jing Yuan tore you in two parts, your eyes tear up uncontrollably.
"It hurts, it hurts."
The general sighs deeply and sweeps away your tears, then pulls you closer to him, wrapping his arms around your waist. His chest presses against yours resting his head on your shoulder, his breath hot against your skin. A small smile appears on his lips as he murmurs to you.
"Shhh.. It'll be okay..."
You hesitantly nod in response, and Jing Yuan pulls out slightly, then thrusts deep inside you once more. After several minutes of being filled with his thick member, the pain subsides. He hugs you close to him, and a soft smile appears on his lips as he grabs your hips and begins moving slowly within you. His groans grow louder with every thrust until they become screams of pleasure.
You start feeling lightheaded and breathing heavier than. You hate to admit that the general is skilled at making love with you. It feels like you are on the ninth cloud right now, and do not bother to suppress pleasure.
You wrapped your legs around his waist tight and chanted his name incoherently like a mantra. In a clouded mind, you saw the general's smile turning dark and wolfish. Guess that you were playing with fire. The general looks at you with an evil grin and stares back at you with his own animalistic stare. His grip tightens around your waist as he starts moving faster. With each thrust, he pounds harder and deeper into you. Your breathing becomes erratic and heavy as you feel yourself nearing climax.
Since your bodies are well compatible, you cling to his shoulder to seek support and claw at Jing Yuan's back violently. Something unknown starts forming inside you as if your mind is going to explode.
"Lord...Lord Jing Yuan, I...am..."
A low chuckle escapes from his throat as he thrusts hard into you. The general wraps his arm around your waist tightly and holds you firmly while continuing to pound away at you. His other hand reaches down between your legs and strokes your clit gently.
"You devil!" - You internally curse him. However, the word falls back to your throat, and your voice is hoarse now. The general's face contorts into a sinister smirk as if he hears your thoughts. Lord Jing Yuan bites down hard on your shoulder blade and continues pounding into you. His fingers dig into your soft flesh as he reaches his peak. His hand moves from the waist to grab one of your hands to hold it tightly.
"Shhhh.. It will be alright, my dear. You're safe here..."
He says softly but clearly, his voice dripping with lust and desire. His eyes are full of passion and excitement. His hot breath tickles your ear as he whispers to you how much he wants you.
"I...can't hold any...longer. Please! I'm so close right now!"
Your tears streaming down tremendously as you cry.
He hears your plea and leans forward slightly. The general grips tighter onto your body and begins speeding up to fuck you even more vigorously. His cock throbs inside you as you both reach your peaks together.
"Lord...lord Jing Yuannn...I beg you!!"
You nearly scream with pleasure and despair when his thick member brushes your G-spot in every thrust. As soon as you start begging him, he feels himself reaching his limit as well. His hips buck wildly against yours, and he moans loudly as he releases his seed deep inside you. A warm sensation spreads through Jing Yuan's entire body as he shoots load after load deep inside your womb.
You try to catch your breath when the general fills you up and stops completely. The hot breeze fans over your face, red tint dust over his cheeks as he hovers above you, and you whine internally. "This is unfair!"
While you are trying to breathe in and out, Lord Jing Yuan is barely out of breath. After staying still awhile, he stands up to take a handkerchief to clean up the mixed liquid between your legs and lies beside you. The general pulls you into his arms and places your head on his fit chest, where you can hear his heart beating loud and clear. He gently strokes your bare back. You lazily wrap an arm around his waist, and hearing Lord Jing Yuan's heartbeat lulls you to sleep. He kisses your forehead sweetly and closes his eyes. His breathing slowly becomes steady and calm while he nuzzles you.
"Goodnight, my dear. Sleep well..."

Chapter 1
Jing Yuan x Fem!reader
WARNINGS/ TAGS: Arranged marriage, reader has a default name, OOC.
Word count: ~1500
Summary: He is so stubborn to give up on you, and you are too hard-headed to reciprocate his affection. When do you both stop torturing each other?
It was a gorgeous day in the mellow Autumn season, and you came to Lord Jing Yuan's office in an outrageous mood. When the guard reported you in, the general's lips immediately curl upward as seeing your presence.
Hello there, need anything, Miss Jin Zhi? - His eyes softened when he diverted his attention from the pile of paper at hand.
You tried to calm your disdain while confronting him because the opposite man was the legendary General of Xianzhou Luofu. Due to his unreasonable decision, you had to abandon the business travel and run from the Jade Gate to face him.
''I want to talk in private space, so would you please be so kind as to ask your men out?''
''Of course.'' - With an abrupt motion from his hand, the guards were quickly dismissed. As long as there was nobody, you immediately requested him to revoke the marriage arrangement formed three days ago.
''Revoke? What do you mean by revoke?'' -  The general raised an eyebrow and asked inquiringly.
''I meant what I said. Call it off!'' - You gradually lost emotional control and raised your voice a bit higher. And the No is his answer, simple but determined.
"Lord Jing Yuan, we met two months ago when you saved my life from mara-struck Cloud knights, and I appreciated that. I thought our relationship could not grow higher than that, but you found my address and colluded with my father to arrange a wedding without my consent." -You lower your voice to veil the fury increasing tremendously.
''My apologies if I went too far, but I am very much in love with you and won't let go of you that easily.''
''So, no matter what I say, you won't revoke the marriage arrangement, huh? I don't comprehend you, and what kind of love when we just met one time?'' - A rampage started boiling your blood at his declaration, but the illogic of Lord Jing Yuan was the utmost thing that accelerated your fury even more.
''It is love at first sight, and you need me.'' - The general whispered behind your ear, his hot breath fanned your sensitive skin.
''I don't!'' - Finally, your poker face broke, so you couldn't keep calm anymore and hissed harsher than you wanted while circling to distance yourself from him. However, He was not totally wrong. You are the only daughter of one of the most prosperous merchants in Xianzhou, or correctly 'was' because the business transaction has not flourished lately, and your family also incurred some financial debts.
Jing Yuan gave a light chuckle and eyed you with a glint of mischief, but his tone implied seriousness.
''Then why did you come here? To force me into breaking up with you? Because you know, I'd rather die than give up on you.''
You grind your teeth and the nail-pressed crescent shapes in the palm.
''Very well then, I have nothing left to say, yet I want you to know that I won't hold any feelings for you, and it is suffocating when marrying the one that does not love you.'' - Sensing this conversation would not lead to anywhere, you decided to leave pronto because his high status is not something that you can easily deal with. Perhaps, there is another chance in the near future to have the general give up on you.
''If you object to the wedding that much, why don't you spend more time and effort at my side to convince me?'' - He asked you with arms crossed.
''May I remind you something important, Lord Jing Yuan? Although we will marry soon, you and I are still single now, and I am also a maiden, so it is inappropriate. People will talk, and rumors might creep up my father's name. I don't want to taint our fame, and it is useless to negotiate with you right now. We will meet later in our wedding ceremony.''
Before you opened the door and walked out without glancing back, he strode up to you and swirled your silky lock affectionately. The general hoped you could enjoy the marriage happily, but you quickly disclaimed it. Jing Yuan gave an exasperated sigh, a faint sadness reflected in his amber orbs as he watched your retreating figure.
One month before the wedding ceremony:
Mother took you to try numerous wedding dresses, but you did not bother to let your mind care about them. The process was completed up to 80 percent, and the wedding invitations were sent across Xianzhou. "This will be one of the grandest weddings in Xianzhou Luofu. You are so lucky to be our ladyship." - the tailor chirped when taking your measurement. Of course, you know your fate was blessed when you became his wife, but you don't love the general.
Two weeks before the wedding ceremony:
Everything brims with a traditional vermilion hue. Roses and peonies are themed flowers that record your father's estate. All your dowry and necessaries have already been moved to Lord Jing Yuan's.
Mother always told you would fall in love with him soon enough, but you suppose differently. What will happen if you don't? You immortals are unlike ordinary people. If the situation is dire, you and he will suffer for eternity.
"I don't love him, but I don't want to torture the general either."
You internally sighed while thinking about the dream of liberty to travel through various worlds and learn new things. Unfortunately, you have to quench it now. Sometimes, you have an impromptu intention of running away from Xianzhou, yet you forbade doing so because of the family's fame and the strict rules.
The day arrives, and everyone is busy getting ready for the ceremony.
Your anxiety rises higher and higher when the ladies-in-waiting fly back and forth to make you presentable. The preparation started at dawn as they put makeup on your face and ceaselessly admired how beautiful are you. The expensive wedding dress adorns your noble figure with precious gem hairpins, an exquisite necklace, and diamond earrings that complement your frame. You bring a hand to touch the golden brooch that settles neatly on your hair that used to belong to the dowry of Lord Jing Yuan's mother, which you received last week.
Suddenly you want to cry badly. You wish you could rip off the wedding dress, throw away the invaluable accessories, and run away where the feet take. However, you can't.
After finishing, the housemaids leave you alone in your room and wait for the general to come to hold the ceremony.
It is about noon, and the general finally comes. He looks very handsome in his elaborate wedding attire today. Many guards are standing by the door of your room. They are not allowed to enter unless he gives them permission first. With three knocks on the door, he walks into the room and searches for his bride.
Hearing the footsteps, you abruptly pull down the head veil and sit straight on the mattress. Although your vision is restricted right now, you can sense his existence. General Jing Yuan sees you sitting there, looking like a flower petal. He smiles softly before taking a seat beside you.
''Hello, my dear. How did you sleep?'' -  The general says with a smile.
However, you only respond with a cold voice and an unwavering manner.
''Enough of chit-chat. We should get to the altar and sanctuary.''
''Yes, let us go'' -  Lord Jing Yuan stands up and holds out his arm. You do so and place your hands on his arm. After a moment, he takes you by the hand and leads you to the entrance. Once outside, he escorts his bride through a long corridor until he reaches the venue.
You are now standing in front of the master of our wedding ceremony who reading the statements. The atmosphere tenses, and everyone stops chattering as he speaks. It feels like the temperature drops down several degrees, and the heart beats violently in your ribcage. The anxiety rockets highly, and you subconsciously grip the general hand with your shaking one.
The general holds onto you tightly and smiles gently as he whispers in your ear.
''Relax, darling. We're almost done.''
The heat radiating from his hand calms your anxiety effectively, and the ceremony goes swimmingly. After the vows, Lord Jing Yuan has to receive guests, and you wait for him in your nuptial room until midnight.
The general's estate is an enormous building divided into three core swings East, West, and North. His private chamber and study room possess the Northside, and the remaining others are for administration, employee lodging, and leisure areas. The wedding milieu was tense but bearable, yet spending time waiting for someone until midnight was far more uncomfortable as if you slumbered in the void forever.
"I am bored right now. Maybe, I will look around this room first." - You monologue and dismiss the maid-in-waiting even though she tries to warn you that bad omens will come when you pull off the head veil without His Highness's consent. However, you don't bother to care anyway. Lord Jing Yuan possesses abundant rare books, so they might help you to kill some time while waiting for him. Time passes by faster when occupying your mind with something interesting as you are inclined to search for another book, a familiar footstep stops right at the door.

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

— [SERIES MASTERLIST]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ᴀ/ɴ: I love writing fluff so much 😫
Tumblr media
after that conversation on the roof, another three months had passed and gojo recklessly lost himself in the happiness he feels around you, and forgot about what he was going to confront you about.
but all is well, he is sure he will tell you about it soon and that your reaction will be a bit more mellowed down now.
“so you are trying to tell me that megumi yelled that you’re a kidnapper once because you didn’t get him what he wanted?”
gojo huffs while you laugh, “exactly! he acts like he wasn’t bratty and stuff but OHOHO! he was awful!”
“you properly deserved it anyways,” you snort and he gasp offended.
you are finally at the door of the classroom and gojo opens it for you with a light bow, voice light and teasing, “after you m’lady.”
“don’t mind if I do then,” you say but not without stepping lightly on his shoe making him yelp nonetheless.
the students watch your dynamic in wonder; you both came a long way, not long ago you were at each other’s throat. at least, you were; they noticed the continuous advances their teacher made towards you back then and how you deflect him off with a harsh glare.
but now you indulge him in said antics even if it’s just a little.
“okay so today we are just go do some sparring since there are no missions,” gojo explains before leaning slightly on you and resting his arm on your head, “plus I would like some time with this pretty lady.”
you roll your eyes with a half-hearted scowl, already used to his sweet words and you know better than to believe them, at least for now.
Itadori raises his hand up, “I want to spar with y/n-sensei though!“
“as if! I am the one who will spend time with her. ME ALL ME!” gojo shouts childishly before latching onto you and sticking his tongue out at his student.
Itadori screams accusingly, “YOU HOG HER ALL THE TIME! LET US SPEND SOME TIME WITH HER!”
“YEAH!” nobara shouts, getting in the mood.
the both of the start chanting, “free y/n-sensei! free y/n-sensei!”
while the no-brain duo was fighting with their teacher, you separate yourself from gojo despite his whines and sat beside megumi and started conversing with him.
“I heard you used a domain expansion,” you start and megumi nods, “that’s pretty cool of you; I am proud!” you grin and the boy mutters a small ‘thanks’ with a small hue of pink adorning his cheeks.
however you don’t get time to revel in the conversation because gojo is once again by your side, “you never compliment me when I do my domain expansion!” his lips are jutted out in exaggeration to show how sad he is.
“satoru, you can do it multiple times and you are dubbed the ‘strongest’, aren’t you?” you rest your chin on the palm of your hand, a cheeky smirk adorning your face, “would be quite the disappointment for the great gojo satoru not be able to lay out a domain expansion.”
gojo thoughts seem to zero on what you called him, satoru.
he never thought that his given name could be said so sweetly, but then he remembers your smirk and cheeky words, and pouts; still, at the same time, you make it sound so pretty even with the teasing lit to your tone.
he lets out a content sigh before leaning back onto the chair, he figures that the teasing and challenge you provide him with is one of the reasons he likes you.
after the past months, he has finally come to accept that yes, he has romantic feelings for you. gojo had also learned that in the world he lives in, he needs to take any chance he gets and enjoy what he has.
a life without regrets, that’s what they all dream of.
“sensei, are you okay?” Itadori asks, noticing how unusually quiet his teacher has become.
gojo raises his thumbs up, “peachy!”
megumi grumbles, “what happened to the sparring?”
but the boy figures at least they have the chance to spend some peaceful time full of smiles and free of the toxicity they have to deal with on their missions.
peace is rare in the jujustu society, so rare that it can be a mere fleeting moment. hell some of them never get to experience said peace until their dying moment.
megumi gets elbowed on the back of his head, harshly snapped out of his thoughts, and he glares at the culprit, itadori. the pink haired boy smiles nervously before stuttering out, “I d-didn’t mean to—“ the poor boy doesn’t get to complete his sentence before megumi lunges at him.
you watch in amusement while nobara is screaming with a huge grin on her face, “fight! fight! fight!”
you feel a tap on your shoulder and you look back to see gojo who whispers, “lets get out of here; I have something to show you.”
you look back at the students before placing your hand in gojo’s waiting one and he pulls you giggling like a school girl outside of the school premises.
“brace yourself, sweetheart!”
the sea, he teleported you to a beach. the waves are crashing gently on the shore and the sun is gleaming through the horizon. the sky is painted pink, red and a hint of blue and gojo’s heart is painted a romantic red and white as he sees the smile on your face.
“we’re at the beach!” you shout, kicking your shoes away and taking your socks off. you run, giddily towards the water and squeal in happiness when the water hits your feet.
gojo walks slowly towards you, hands in his pocket before he speaks out, “good thing you took your socks off; if you went in with it, that would make you a totally different type of freak.”
his words cut your moment of joy short causing you to glare at him, “turn your infinity off.”
“it’s basically off with you though, since you can still reach me and everything,” he cockily smiles.
you grumble, “I said turn it off.”
“okay, mommy.”
the response makes you even more sure of your decision as you splash the tall man with water.
“hey! that’s betraying trust!” he yells, laughing.
he, in return, enters the water with you and continuously splashes you with water, and you scream before falling back.
“time out! time out!” you say and he stops, still cautious with a cunning smile on his face.
“aww you cryin’?” he taunts while you move your hair away from your eyes.
you stick your tongue out and he does the same; gojo approaches you and sits down in front of you.
“I hate you so much,” you mumble and he laughs.
“I’ve lost count of how many times you have said that,” he breathes out.
you blink tiredly, and gojo leans to closer to you, “I noticed there is no malice anymore though.”
“do you really hate me, sugar?” he whispers and suddenly the small distance between you both comes to your notice.
the two of you start leaning closer, eyes closing and his hand rests on your cheek gently.
“y/n,” he uttered your name like it’s a sacred prayer, “I need to tell you something.” his eyes meet yours, his blindfold already slipped to his neck, “it’s important and I won’t forgive myself if I do this without tell you this.”
“can I tell you something important first though?” you speak up, averting your eyes.
he nods, deciding it’s better that he would’ve time to organize just how will he deliver it to you.
“fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”
“huh?” he says before you push him away.
“how long were you going to let this play out?”
gojo stands up silently, “so you knew?”
you take your shirt off and squeeze the water out of it, “never thought you could stoop any lower than you were, but yeah I knew.”
“guess I was wrong,” you sigh.
gojo’s hand reaches out for your shoulder, but to his surprise he quickly retracts it only to find a new cut on it, the blood dripping.
“try to get closer to me for information? could’ve just asked, you fucking ass,” you hiss and gojo feels that something more than the cut on his hand is burning.
“I was going to tell you anyway, is that so hard to believe?” he admits in hopes of defusing the situation but to no avail.
you walk to him, “then throw me out and with an infamous line of ‘you should’ve known better than me being actually attached to someone’, right?”
he shakes his head and your eyebrows furrow in disgust.
“you still have the heart to lie? what is wrong with you?!” you yell, your temper and fury finally surfacing.
you give your back to him, “I give you the benefit of the doubt but you go on and stab me in the back?!”
“y/n, it wasn’t the only thing I would say,” he asserts.
you retort, “oh really? were you also going to rub in the fact that I actually gave you a chance?”
“you know I am not like that—“
“I DON’T KNOW YOU!” you scream, with frustration, sadness and anger. they are all emotions that demand tears, but you’ve cried enough and you would be damned if you cried for a man like him.
“I know nothing about you!” you clutch yourself chest, “you are telling me I know you?” you take a breath to steady yourself, “you’ve been nothing but fake and shallow. that’s the only thing I know.”
“If you are wondering when I unraveled your little game, it was two days ago,” you added.
gojo walks towards you but a barrier separates the both of you, one of the many things you mastered of your technique that he oh so wanted to learn about, “I heard nanami and shoko talking about it…how you only started talking to me to learn more about my technique.”
“from now on, this is the last time you get near me. physically or emotionally,” you finally step away, nearing the gate of the beach.
you look back at him, “I’ve always wanted to go see Kyoto in the spring, but you should know that, right?”
the waves are crashing roughly on the shore and the sun is nowhere to be seen. the sky is painted black and dark blue and gojo’s heart is painted with the same colors as he sees your retreating figure.
