Mobei overhears sy and sqh talking. Sy is crowing about how much binghe does for him, and sqh says "yeah well, happy wife happy life". Mobei ignores the peak Lord fistfight as he connects dots. Qinghua is always bending over backwards to make him happy. In fact, when he's unhappy, qinghua will do everything within his power to change that. Is... is he the wife? Man practically gains a halo of bliss while sy tries to choke sqh behind him
Oh I LOVE THIS he absolutely would consider himself the wife- not only that, he'd be so happy at being the happy wife of Shang Qinghua, the man that balances a whole peak and his kingdom so well like it's nothing, he would be clawing at the table thinking about it
Tumblr media
He's so distracted that he doesn't see his poor husband dying but it's a small price to pay for this amazing revelation

Okay, we all know that Shang Qinghua (Airplane) can't fight well, but consider:
A year before the scheduled demon invasion Sha Hualing was sneaking around the northern demons' castle during a diplomatic whatever and stole something from Mobei-jun's room that she would eventually use to get into Cang Qiong Mountain Sect. An emergency token that can let Mobei through the wards if his teleportation fails or something, it's a nonsense bauble Shang Qinghua literally put there for Sha Hualing to steal.
But Mobei-jun is both pissed at Sha Hualing now and justifiably worried that his spy would die if the Sha clan attacks the sect. So he gets the wonderful idea to whip Shang Qinghua into shape until he can hold his own!
And Shang Qinghua can't say that he knows when the demon invasion is going to be and he plans to be elsewhere, so Airplane bro gets to experience the worst training montage ever. It works, for what it's worth. It was never his lack of potential holding Shang Qinghua back, it was his different priorities.
He also uses his new focus on his cultivation to get permission to cultivate in Lingxi caves just before the invasion, so he can step in and save Liu Qingge's life (may or may not be necessary, depending if it's Shen Jiu or Shen Yuan, it works for both).
Then the day of the invasion rolls around and Shang Qinghua still planned on sneaking away, but Mobei-jun got it in his head that he wants to see the results of all that training, so Shang Qinghua is not sitting it out, no matter how much he wants to. Luo Binghe won't even get to fight, the third match is Shang Qinghua against Elder Sky Hammer and it's woefully one-sided. Shang Qinghua is feeling a little good about himself even! So not worth all the suffering he was put through to get to this point, but being strong kinda rocks.
But then Sky Hammer tries to take him down with him anyway and Mobei-jun steps in, all tall, dark and looming and uses his ice to cordon off the demon invaders. "You have stolen something that's mine, little brat."
He ends up chasing Sha Hualing's gang off in a deadly hail of black ice before Liu Qingge can even get on the scene and Shang Qinghua is fine. He's fine, he's unharmed and he's internally screaming because that was too close and his king is so cool, but also wtf Mobei-jun why are you out in the open?!?!!
He can. Somehow make it work? It really does help smooth things over that Mobei-jun just potentially saved a lot of lives. Makes it easier to convince people that Mobei-jun is Shang Qinghua's friend and he can be a really good ally, like, do you want this power on your side or as an enemy? Mobei-jun plays along because he realizes that this will give him free access to the Sect and an easier time to coordinate with Shang Qinghua. And hey, maybe he gets to spar with Liu Qingge and Yue Qingyuan every now and then, that's a really nice bonus actually!
Which is to say, Mobei-jun becomes a regular fixture at the sect and spends enough time there that someone will notice his very awkward crush on Shang Qinghua and sets him straight about human courtship customs. At which point it all transitions into a wacky romcom where half of An Ding is trying to discourage him and the other half is actively supplying him with questionable dating advice, all the while the rest of the sect is taking bets about how long until either they get together, or the whole thing crashes and burns. It's a fun time either way.

I've seen a few different SVSSS AU's where Shen Yuan transmigrated as A Woman, generally involving explorations of Gender Identity, with a side of "So I'm definitely going to marry Luo Bingge at some point, but how do i handle Harem Politics???"
I haven't seen nearly as many stories with Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky transmigrating as a woman. And I think that's a shame.
Would he decide to Trans his Gender, or would she be like *born a man in one life; born a woman in the next; next time, who knows?* and go with it?
How would Shang Qinghua's canon behaviors be perceived, if applied to a female character? Would Airplane act differently, with different social pressures and expectations?
Would Airplane expect to join the Protagonist's harem at some point, or not?
.
Also, please consider...
Peerless Cucumber: "Mobei Jun had a WIFE this whole time?! Why was she never mentioned, or even hinted at, in all the years Mobei Jun and Junshang Luo Bingge knew eachoth-- wait never mind; that makes sense "

Hi! I just read your moshang fic and I loved it so much! The moshang dynamic brings me so much joy! And it was so fluffy and feely and lovely!
I have a question tho, what does Beida means? I tried to google it but I only found locations from Libia and Argelia 🙈
ahahahahahaha this is a popular question today! my bad for not including an explanation in notes!
beida (short for 北京大学/peking university) and qinghua ( 清华大学/tsinghua university) are the two top universities in china.
the name shang qinghua (尚清华) is a homonym of 上清华 (attend tsinghua). beida was a funny jab at this homonym, because why tsinghua when you can beida ahahahaha (beida is ranked higher)

I’ve been thinking about how some people thought of Toshiro Dungeonmeshi as a bad person in that scene where he snaps at Laios Dungeonmeshi after trying and failing to get him to take the hint that he found him annoying for months and Laios is confused and hurt because he thought they were good friends. More specifically, I was thinking about all the posts where people explained that they had just clashed due to the fact they’re from different cultures. Toshiro is from the in-universe equivalent of Japan and he was probably taught from a very young age that telling people to their faces how you really felt about them is impolite. You see, I thought it was a little weird that it had to be explained because it’s not like people ever tell you how they truly feel about you unless you’re VERY close, right?
I mean, whenever someone dislikes you, they’re going to be very subtle about it, IF they let their displeasure with you be known at all, that is. Politeness dictates that you have to be nice even to people you can’t stand. And if you don’t pick up on the fact that they repeatedly make excuses not to be around you or straight up ghost you, if that’s feasible, you just will never know. Is this frustrating to grasp and navigate if you’re neurodivergent? INCREDIBLY so, speaking from personal experience! But that’s just how society is, right? People don’t even like to talk about things they dislike so they won’t upset people who like them!
Well! I just did some research and it turns out the reason that Toshiro’s behavior reads as “just what most people would do” to me is because I too, am from a culture with an indirect communication style and a mostly collectivist mindset. Like, you hear so much about how “the West is individualist and the East is collectivist” but it turns out that when people made this split, they didn’t take Latin American countries into consideration at all, only Europe and North America. I’ve been playing “social skills: the game” on nightmare mode all this time and I had no idea.

gotta put my thoughts down before i forget it but the thing that did it in for me is how spy x family is ultimately and uniquely a “children-focused” work, where the major stakes require that we pay attention to the lives and dynamics of young children so that — specifically — we have to genuinely engage with and invested in their inner lives, motivations, desires, thoughts, emotions, etc.
i think this is a very unique focus in the shounen sphere, where the audience and creators are centered about adolescent boys (the shounen genre, in its name) and thus have a very wide scope of focus that nonetheless has “aged” past “childhood”. usually media about children and childhood are sequestered in its own genre (children’s shows like doraemon, magical girl anime like precure series, etc.) aimed at a different target audience who are in the same demographic as the main characters in the shows. this is, obviously, not a bad thing. but i appreciate the “genre-breaking” focus that spy x family have because it inspires a sort of empathy to children, who are often not the most favorite group of people for the typical demographic of shounen readers, that is specifically vital in today’s climate. (can’t say much about japan itself, who historically has been dealing with declining birth rates, but oh i can speak for the american individualism— ironically where sxf is also very popular in) another thing about this is it’s drive home how intertwined the family life is, and should be. agent twilight and thorn princess’s plot-lines are clearly shounen-esque (a spy fighting for world peace, an assassin weeding out traitors) but they are nonetheless inextricable from the family- and anya-focused story, because by choice or circumstances they are anya’s parents. they’re a part of a larger societal fabric that embedded them in relationships to others — children being one of them. i think that’s pretty neat.
another thing, specially about the depiction of children in sxf: they are fictitious yet realistic enough to portray real children and inspire sympathy for them. a lot of asian home media in general have the problems of portraying young children as “problems”: annoying, loud, privileged, dumb, ungrateful, etc etc. these are such complaints about children that are unfortunately way too common and way too ungenerous and mean-spirited; none of these tropes are present, even in a media full of scions and heiress. complaints about them being brats (red circus bus hijacking arc) was rightfully framed as unsympathetic and unreasonable (they’re children! they can’t help where they were born into— it goes both ways.) i think the crux of this beautiful balance sxf struck in portraying nuanced, dynamics children is sympathy. they can be loud, they can be whiny, cry at the drop of a hat, has too much energy, gross, have bad grades, clingy, inconsistent, academically unmotivated, ran off randomly— and that’s fine, because we know why they do it, we are given space into their inner thoughts, something so rarely afforded to real life children at times. but they can be motivated, they want world peace, they want to have genuine friends, they want their friends to be happy, they have crushes, and most of all they love their parents and they love the people around them.
i think regardless of everything sxf is a work that understands that children are full of love and the majority of the things they do are out of love. i think that alone makes it incredible in the current socio-econo-political climate where sympathy is spared so little and humanity spreads so thin children barely gets what they deserve. i suppose that’s the sort of war we are entrenched in.

do you have any info on magic staffs or just compilation pics of the staffs?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's the ones I could remember above,
From what Marcille says here staffs are important for aiming
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her explosion spell scatters instead of hitting a single point when she casts it without Ambrosia
She does manage to use a twig when she loses Ambrosia in the Barometz chapter, and Thistle uses a flute or other music instruments (and a wooden mallet) to cast magic every now and then so I think the quality of the Staff has more to do with how much they can take and the quality of the aim rather than the power of the magic? The twig probably cant quite aim the explosion attack and even the stun seems to have came out not quite aimed properly thru the twig
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The twig also burns away after
Tumblr media
Other things that seem to be used to cast magic are magic circles/runes, magic tattoos and Grimoires (by Thistle especially) so maybe which one to use depends on the magic youre casting? Wish there was something more explicitly said about those.
