alpha-of-omega:
“Yes. Change.” Aria’s tone was not impatient, exactly, but clipped, cold, all business. The danger that faced them was unlike any that had ever come to Omega before. Even in the darkest hours of the Cerberus occupation they had never faced the potential for complete genocide.
“We know what the Reapers want – to wipe us out. Everyone aboard this station will be destroyed if the Reapers realize we’re still here. We only have one option.” It galled her to say it – to admit that Omega was not, in and of itself, the impenetrable fortress she liked to think of it as, the castle in which she alone decided who lived and who died. The Reapers were the ultimate power.
“We have to disappear. We close the ports – no one enters, no one leaves. Power output lowered, communications blackout, self-sufficient supplies. As far as Omega is concerned, the rest of the galaxy no longer exists – and as far as the galaxy is concerned, neither do we.”
She turned abruptly, faced her daughter squarely and folded her arms. “I want to move you and Hira to the penthouse or the command bunker rather than the residential apartments. We’re going to consolidate our position.” As always in times of tension, her tone was an order rather than a request.
Liselle nodded, already sending off a message to Aryna, asking her to bring Hira to Afterlife. She wanted the girl here as soon as possible; she felt better when the little one was close to her, especially now. She could only the imagine the reaction of Omega’s people when the ports began to close down and all but lock them onto the station for good. Or for as long as it took for the Reapers to leave, and for many, it would be for the rest of their lives.
“Hira will be here soon,” she said. “What else do you need me to do?” She was wondering if her mother planned to have her simply sit idly by; with Omega becoming the last piece of civilization in the galaxy, she could understand that her mother would want her daughter and granddaughter safe, but Liselle didn’t want to remain still. She wanted to help, she wanted to get out there and help things get done.
And hopefully, help prevent an entire outbreak of chaos. They would need to shut everything down before anyone figured out what was going on outside their little station, otherwise people would try to bring their loved ones in. They couldn’t have the Reapers turn their eyes here. They did, and that would be the end of everything.
“If you need people out in the station, I can help with that.”

She shrugs, clearly unbothered by it.
“She’s just taking the piss out of things.” She smiles. “And do tell.”

alpha-of-omega:
For a long time Aria is merely very still, watching her daughter and her granddaughter with an expression that encompasses quite a few emotions almost at the same time. Protectiveness, affection, nostalgia, uncertainty…all this and more at once.
“I suppose I am,” she murmurs; with a few quick steps she moves to the couch, settling on Hira’s other side so the child is between her and Liselle. Absently she strokes Hira’s crest with one hand.
“Feeling a little better, then?” she asks Liselle. She means physically, of course. She as well as anyone – and perhaps better than most – knows that the emotional scars of recent events will take longer to heal. Another spark of anger goes through her but she buries it for now. There will be time for it later, if it’s needed.
Liselle considers her mother’s question for a moment, and then shrugs. She does feel a little better, but the mental part of her being miserable does a damn good job of clouding just how much better she feels. She doesn’t know if the funny feeling in her stomach is the alcohol, or the grief, but regardless, it’s there.
“Yeah, a little,” she replies. She’s not sure how much she really wants to say in front of her daughter. The girl might not be young, but Liselle knows she’s not stupid. She’s as aware, and as observant as her mother and grandmother, and she’ll pick up on anything either of them say. “I don’t feel like death, at least. I’ll be completely fine by tomorrow, though... I can just sleep the rest off.”
She leans over so that she can rest her chin on her mother’s shoulder, being mindful of the little girl wedged between them. She doesn’t seem to mind the movement, nor does she seem to be paying much attention; if anything she looks like she’s beginning to drift off, but Liselle won’t start talking about anything serious until she’s sure.
“D’you mind if we stay for a couple of days? Might be easier to get my head on straight if you’re around to keep me from doin’ somethin’ stupid.”

okay. that is a really uncanny impression of the omega queen, skylar’s brows rose at just how easily she stepped into the role. it was both intimidating and weirdly attractive. needless to say her mind wandered for a moment before she remembered why they were doing this. “right! yeah, uh, aria – uh, queen t’loak – i wanna start hiring extra hands for my shop but i’ll need more credits and … uh, to, to get more credits i’ll need to expand my range and t’ do that –  i .. i need – fuck liselle, i can’t do this,”
Tumblr media
Liselle’s voiced switched back to its usual tone, its usual range, and she slipped out of character just as quickly as she had gotten into it.
“You’ll have to, if you don’t wanna make a fool of yourself in front of her. Practice makes perfect, y’know? I could always go with you when y’do it. Might make it a little easier.” She did want her friend to be able to succeed and get to where she wanted to go, after all. And she could probably sway her mother; it wouldn’t be the first time she had done it.

alpha-of-omega:
“So far.” Aria shifts, letting Hira settle her head more comfortably against her grandmother’s neck, and steps out of the elevator into the penthouse, letting the doors shut behind her. It seems a very long time since all three generations of T’Loak have been in this place all at the same time. She finds it quite satisfying. “She was asking for you as soon as she arrived,” she adds with the hint of a smile.
Liselle looks a good bit less flattened than she did an hour or so ago, which is a relief. “Do you need more food? I can have the Afterlife kitchens put a bigger spread together.” She crosses the room towards the couch on which Liselle is sitting, sets Hira down carefully next to her mother.
Liselle makes a bit of a face at the mention of more food. “Mm, maybe not just yet. I don’t think my stomach is ready for that sort of food just yet,” she says, taking a bite out of the corner of one. Just the thought of eating something else right now is enough to make her stomach feel funny.
The moment Hira is next to her mother, she pounces, wrapping her arms tight around her. Liselle grunts from the impact, and she loops an arm around her, before gently trying to pry her off. “Gentle, baby, Mama’s still not up to be tackled,” she says gently, leaning in to kiss the top of her daughter’s head. Hira doesn’t reply verbally, and instead simply buries her face into her mother’s shoulder.
She then looks up to Aria, tilting her head towards the empty spot on the couch. “You gonna sit with us?” she asks with a little, tired grin.

“I really should … but anytime I take a day off, thats at least fifty thou credits I miss out on.” she shrugs, too tired to even think about money. A little laugh fills the momentary silence as she slinks out of the comfiest seat ever, “Okay, Queen, lay y’ best Aria on me.”
Tumblr media
She sets herself down in Sky’s now-empty seat and crosses her legs, hands in her lap, to adopt the same way her mother sets on her “throne”. The grin on her face disappears, replaced with an almost bored, disinterested expression, and she looks Sky up and down, as if sizing her up.
“Well? You have your audience, now speak. And be quick about it; I don’t like it when people waste my time,” she said, her voice an octave or two lower, cooler, copying Aria’s voice quite well, although there’s still plenty of difference.

“Shit –” she quickly rubbed her eyes, as if it would help how rough she currently looked. “– yeah, sorry. Been fucking hectic at the shop lately … been workin’ all hours and runnin’ on one hour naps … s’why i need a bigger place t’ hire some extra hands,” after another yawn she slumps back into her seat, “Really? That’d be sweet … plus I totally wanna hear that impression.”
Tumblr media
“Try t’ take a day off or somethin’ and just... sleep it all off. That might be enough to fix the red in your eyes, at least. Makeup can do the rest.” She then grinned. “Yeah, why not? Might be fun, and if y’fuck up in front of me, I can just correct you, and not toss y’out of Afterlife, or something. But if y’wanna try now, you’ll need t’ get your ass outta that seat; I need t’ sit t’ get into character.”
