Presenting Malachi first :33 my beautiful lovely baby boy who is most definitely the prettiest boy in the village. Definitely would be more of a heartbreaker if like. He didn’t accidentally speak like Phoenix Drop’s equivalent of a medieval poet trying to converse with like modern day folks.

Also I gave him a bandana because everyone and their mother has a green scarf and it gets far too confusing and aggravating after awhile

Erm next is Molly :33 I do have a Molly design page I never shared and I won’t ever share cuz I never finished it ♡ anyways to me she definitely is like a waitress/head lady at a tavern with an inn on the second floor in Phoenix Drop, at least I believe she met Dale there and sparks flew between the two or something. Idk I like drawing her holding two big glasses of beer and having some level of charisma even if she’s like overbearing and shit outside of work.

And lastly Yip :3 tbh I looked at my whole doodle sheet and realized I accidentally like drew blondes vs brunettes so I ended it off with yip even tho he technically has black hair and not brown hair I like to think he has a pretty ample amount of body hair and thick wavy hair from the werewolf genes and also just cuz he’s gorgeous or whatever. The town’s big brother and I don’t really remember much sorryyyyy lol

I also think he has sharpened and slightly elongated ears but not in the way elves/half elves do but more of a weird shape idk I’ll draw it better later just guess for now

Oh and like one final thing I accidentally mistook Alexis for having a crush on Malachi and not Yip so I drew this to show how he just effortlessly sparkles before Cal told me I was wrong <\3

I feel like you're misunderstanding the problem that ask is addressing. These female characters were not well written, but the hate they receive because of this is disproportional to their male counterparts (who are just as badly written).

I appreciate your thoughts here. I think we need to be able to acknowledge where we contribute to the general "bad vibes" of aphblr. Lord knows I could have handled the "Kim drama" better.

I really like what you said toward the end there. More community driven projects will naturally lead to a stronger community. Maybe we need to focus on making events, or zines, or big bangs. Things that have ppl work together and get to know each other.

The more fandom interactions I have outside the Aphmau fandom the more toxic I perceive this fandom to be.

I've seen numerous ppl complaining about the toxicity of our fanbase via confession blogs, and they always get dragged in the notes for not being constructive enough. And while I do think some of these anons are deserving of criticism for what they say, it discourages me from expressing how I feel in this fanbase.

This is one of the most toxic fanbases I've been apart of, and I don't know what to do abt it. I want to offer solutions like ppl in the notes of these confessions ask for, but I don't know what to say. I want it to be clear that I want to work with others to fix the behavior I see, but what the hell can I do abt any of this?

Maybe the reason all these ppl do is complain is because it's hard to try and solve an issue like this. Especially when it's hard to say why this fandom feels so toxic. Maybe it is just the ppl I have interacted with. Maybe I have done smth that has lead to toxic ppl in my space. I just don't know.

But then what is the solution? Just don't interact with Aphblr? I want to care abt this part of Tumblr again, but I cannot view it the same way I did coming in.

I get that ppl are so stuck in their ways and views they are driven off by different opinions, but what can be done to sway opinions without maturing from these ppl? How can we show more openness to ideas? Do we need more healthy disagreements as examples of how to handle other opinions?

We still have ppl who see too much of a character and decide to hate them. What's that abt? I get annoyed by a lot of aarmau stans I've seen try to act like it's perfect and without fault, but I don't hate aarmau because of annoying stans. I've actually come to like it in some circumstances. And yet we have ppl here who decide they're gonna hate characters because of stans. Like after that Kim drama when ppl were saying they hated Kim now. It's so weird. Why do we do this? Why are we hating characters to get revenge on other fans?

Malachi being 900 years old is crazy. I love him but that makes no sense. How is he literally not completely insane after being isolated by himself for that long. He was slightly evil for little bit but like he just acts like a normal kid. Plus, language changes so rapidly the gang probably wouldn’t even be able to understand Malachi. He would basically be speaking a whole different language.

Honestly, if you wanted him to be from a different time period the story could be that he was basically dormant or asleep for most of the 900 years then he gets awoken. Maybe he wakes up because Irene was reborn as Aphmau and this caused the balance of the entire world to shift. Then when Aphmau meets Malachi she’s the only one who can understand him because she can still understand languages that Irene knew. That would give Malachi a good reason to latch on to Aphmau so much. It would also make Aphmau feel directly responsible for him because she’s one of the few people easily able to connect with him.

Like, Aphmau is kind enough to take in any child she meets but I think it would be interesting to make that situation more nuanced. Malachi desperately wants to form connections with other people and at first Aphmau is the only one who can give him that. This leads him to be more trusting of Aphmau. Also, I think it would be really cute for Laurance to try everything in his power to connect with Malachi despite there being a language barrier (probably all of the boys would do this but Laurance especially because he sees himself in Malachi and he stays with him at the castle.) I can picture him making a fool of himself like pretending to fall or making silly faces at him just to get Malachi to laugh. Then soon after the castle the group meets Lucinda who later can create a potion or enchant an amulet so Malachi can understand everyone. Eventually, he wouldn’t need it anymore because Zoey helps him learn to read and write. Zoey also understands what it’s like to be someone living outside of the regular passage of time so she would be able really understand how Malachi feels.

Actually you make a really good point abt Aph. If her story was about a poor person rising from humble circumstances to dismantle a system that has been used to hurt others it would add to the themes of mcd season 1 (and 2 to some extent). You can still have her be a god, but rather than one sent to Phoenix Drop, she chose to be there. Maybe she was sent to O'Khasis or another large city (as in her staff to summon her), but when spawned, she chose to flee because of the oppression she saw. Thus leading to her ending up as a poor begger among society until she encounters Phoenix Drop which gives her a chance and allows her to rise in power and stand up against the oppressors of this universe. Furthermore this could give her some really cool parallels to Garroth. Idk you could do a lot with this concept.

But uh, that is absolutely not what anon was trying to say. Anon wasn't interested in a compelling story abt how undervalued homeless ppl are. Anon was being blatantly misogynistic and incredibly disrespectful. And also weird. That is a weird thing to say. What made u think that was okay to say?

sometimes people go out of their way to hate on katelyn a LOT more than needed. yes, there were times where punching travis out of nowhere was an issue, but a majority of the times in the past were because travis was genuinely being a freak. i love travis, but in the past he was a literal creep and deserved to get his shit rocked. i don't understand the massive hate towards katelyn tbh.
