Wow.
That was unnecessarily harsh.
Gortash didn't like criticism. He didn't like it so much that he was prone to lash out whenever he encountered it.
"You compare me. To him."
He put it dangerously simply, not in a questioning but in a deadpan tone. Even his expression was void of emotions; carefully hiding the wrath underneath.
"Do satisfy my curiosity, dear", he added then, brows twitching only a little, "how am I like Cazador? Do I torment you like he did? Physically and mentally? I can't remember doing either."
Sure, he did have safety protocols when it came to Astarion. He was being watched by his underlings. But not necessarily to restrict him; while Cazador lived, he was not free, and if the elder vampire got a grip on his mind again, everything Gortash built could crumble to dust. Which was why Astarion wouldn't understand this. He simply did not realise that his presence there was an enormous threat.
what ever happened to "i promise i won't lie to you?" (Astarion; @mxrvelouscreations
What are you hiding?
An impatient tut left the tyrant at the words Astarion echoed. He would've explained it in detail why it was necessary for him to lie, but Gortash was almost completely sure Astarion would not understand.
"I'd like to suggest you stop complaining. Right now. Everything I do, I do for your sake."
