Ryan’s class went to the CT Science Center for their field trip this year. Mike was able to accompany them. No surprise Ryan spent some time doing the weather reports!
Last of the spring meeting circuit for me…this time to Destin, Florida for the SEC Conference meetings. I was part of an ESPN contingent presentation in front of AD’s, SID’s, football coaches, men’s and women’s basketball coaches and more. I talked about the upcoming football season and others talked about basketball. Also got to see a lot of people both internally at ESPN as well as those connected with the SEC. Successful trip!
The middle school softball season culminates each year with the game against the other Southington middle school. Unfortunately for DePaolo, Kennedy won both matchups this year. The weather was beautiful at least!
Ryan’s teacher sent some pictures from the week including a visit to the 1st grade classroom to see the hatched chicks! Only a few weeks of school left.
Abby’s team played in a 14U tournament in Meriden and ended up in 2nd place. They ran out of gas in game 4 but overall did very well, even knocking off the #1 seed in the second game of the day.
Weekends are back to looking pretty similar: lots of games for different sports! But we don’t mind one bit. Quick visit from my parents and they got to see softball, baseball and flag football. Unfortunately the weather on Saturday wasn’t great at Abby’s softball tournament, but we all survived. It didn’t rain at Ryan’s baseball game, though, and he was tagged as player of the game. Saturday night we went out for dinner to celebrate Ryan’s birthday - and another serving of prime rib for him! Sunday was flag football and more softball. All in all a fun, busy weekend.
It rained all day for Ryan’s birthday (go figure!) but he still had indoor baseball practice, so we tried to fit a few “fun” things in between school and practice. We headed to the Brass City Raceway and got in a lap and even hit the arcade. Post practice Ryan got to enjoy his cake with the double digit candles. Crazy he is that old!
May 16, 2024: Ryan is double digits! He was very excited for his birthday and managed to sleep in until the “late” hour of 5:40am. He opened his presents in the morning and also dressed for the occasion - he turned in his tickets to be “teacher of the day” on his birthday. One of the presents he asked for was a shark costume. We have no idea why, but he loved wearing it and he even walked Abby to the bus stop. Ha!
Another week and another concert…this time for Abby. 4 songs for the 7th grade band, and then 4 songs for the 8th grade band and that’s a wrap! This will probably be the last concert for Abby as she did not sign up for band next year.
