You know what just hit me? The Zach Noveda and Percy Jackson parallels
Both of them are really smart, but people see them as dumb
(Also it's their respective best friends that acknowledge their intelligence the most)
Their best friends (Annabeth/Zorian) are the brain and they are the brawn, but they have plenty of brain themselves
They are both easy going and laidback but god forbid you piss them off
Can hold a grudge, especially against a person that has betrayed them
Pretty overpowered
Really adaptable in a fight, but also in general
Can solo big monsters
Have a big pet that is a monster (Mrs O'Leary/Princess)
They are both quite impulsive
Are both one man armies
They are both described as really attractive and charismatic

Percy: What happened?
Annabeth: You fell down the stairs, do you not remember?
Percy: Not really. I remember tripping, and I remember the ambulance ride to the hospital.
Annabeth: That wasn’t an ambulance. I drove you.
Percy: Then what was that siren?
Grover: Sorry, I was really nervous.

imagine writing this. imagine writing percy increasingly losing himself to his anger and his resentment, sympathizing with Luke, spiraling, being immensely powerful, burning away at his mortality, and not knowing how to deal with any of it. Desperate for help and the one time he breaks down enough to try and get it (Jason) his worst thoughts and perceptions of himself are inadvertently affirmed. He never talks about it to Annabeth. He never talks about it to his mom. Oh but everyone is aware of it. Aware of his anger. Afraid of his anger. Concerned for him and by him. They give each other looks, worried, because they recognize what a danger he could be — to himself, to others, to the gods. But no one says anything, at least not to Percy. No one helps him. No one intervenes. They don't know how to, it seems. (Or maybe they're afraid to). And so they all pretend everything is fine. Percy pretends, bottling it all up inside until the pressure gets too great and that anger boils over and he loses it all over again. He's so desperate for normalcy that he'll take anything, believes in all of the sweet, sugar-spun tales of New Rome and looks away from the rotting underside. He lets himself believe that once he's there the gods will have to leave him alone, because he's done with it all, he's retired (and the gods always keep their promises don't they?).
Imagine writing what is arguably the well-plotted, compelling, and tragic beginnings of a fallen hero arc for percy and none of it being intentional.
RR's penchant for Percy to be explosively angry and scarily powerful, alongside characterizing him as jaded and resentful and desperate, mixed with his refusal to write any in-depth emotional resolution to any time Percy snaps has created an enthralling narrative of a hero just about to fall from grace. and it's all seemingly an accident.
Oh, and another, amazing, unintentional coincidence? if you're taking RR's word that Percy is still 17, that's also the age Luke was when he failed his quest, marking the beginning of his fall as a hero. Like. The narrative parallels are all there. And without any meaning for them to be.

I don't want to be THAT girl, but I need to put this out of my chest. I hate Piper. Ok, I have only read the first book of the HOO series, but I don't think it gets better from there forward.
Here are my reasons:
First: Total disappointment.
When Rick introduced us Piper with the "beautiful and violent" quote I had so much faith in the character, even in her obvious (although quite rushed) relationship dynamic with Jason. And then, what he gave me? A jealous and possessive girl over a boy who she doesn't really know, with a lot of "trauma" because she have lived a happy and wealthy life, but her dad didn't pay her much attention (because he was working so she could live well and not how he lived in the past) so she became a thief in order to her father to pay attention to her... GROW FUCKING UP.
Second: I'm not like other girls.
Is it a crime to be feminine and tough? What is wrong with your brothers and sisters for wanting to look pretty? Nothing darling, absolutely nothing, and yet Piper make using a dress and make up such a big deal that is boring. Yes kid, we know you prefer pants and jackets, sit down. Not all the Aphrodite kids have to be hollow inside. Surprise, surprise, you can be smart, you can be brave, you can have the courage to fight with a Dragon and still care about your make up and like to use long dresses with high heels.
Third: What's is your deal with Jason?
It's like she was this toddler with a teddy bear and she just didn't wanna let it go. She knew their relationship was fake, but she hold to it with dear life and all the TLH book was a stupid amount of not necessary touching and holding hands and... well, if you read it you understand. Also there was a moment in Leo's point of view when he says something like: "she can't lose anyone else", and that was bring to life again when we though Jason had died because of Hera and Piper said "I can't lose you" my dear child who the fuck did you lose?! Your dad is save and sound, your mother came and talked to you in a dream when nobody else had seen they godly parents in months, what did you lose? A fake relationship?! Yes really traumatic, want to talk about Leo's past and Jason losing his memory?
Fourth: All the moments "Jasper"
This has a lot to do with my first point, Rick Riordan sold her to me as a strong character, all fighty and stuff, and then she broke her ankle and then caught a hypothermia, and that would have been fine if it was just that, but that moments only served to be Jasper moments, as if they can't have a normal relationship dynamic development, so let's just force them to have some alone time together and then hug near the fire... sure, really natural.
Jason and Annabeth had more chemistry the two times they interacted than Jason and Piper had in the whole book.
Fifth: A weak ass power.
I'm well aware of how the enchanting can be powerful. Words and the way someone use it can be a terrible weapon against the enemy. And then they gave it to Piper and the only time it worked in the whole book was with a female mortal pilot... I mean... they might as well be dead if not for Leo.
Sixth (and I can't say this loud enough) SHE ACTS LIKE A CHILD HAVING A TANTRUM
What is it with that line of her that went like: "Hey Drew in case you forgot Im a child of Aphrodite I don't want you near Jason, maybe he doesn't know it yet, but he is mine" I mean WTF, don't get me wrong, Drew was a bitch but I would have slapped the shit out of Piper right there, it's easy to act tough when you are facing a beauty queen who has never fought in her life, I wonder where was that spirit back in the quest. All her shit was about: I'm weak, I can't look at my own reflection, oh dang my mom made me more pretty, what should I do? Save my dad or continue with this quest? That last question, THAT LAST QUESTION could have been so much more explored, just to leave it at Jason and Leo saying: of course we will save your dad, why didn't you said it sooner? So that was the big end for that dilemma.
I have more things to say, but I'll leave it here. And once again, I repeat, the very best of that book was Leo Valdez.

Someone: Who’s your favourite Percy Jackson character?
Me: Obviously it’s Annabeth Chase
Someone: that’s such a basic answer.
Me: alright you want the real answer? The prophetic arrow in Trials of Apollo that only Lester can hear and only speaks Shakespeare. Look it up. That’s my favourite character.

The mischaracterization of people from PJO is so funny, but ESPECIALLY from HOO onward like.
“Hazel’s such an innocent little angel. She’s always nice and kind and confused.”
Hazel, who’s always ready to fight in the same way Percy is? Hazel, who made it explicitly clear she probably would’ve rocked Octavian’s shit had he not been blackmailing her? Who gets so angry on behalf of the people she loves, to the point where she doesn’t forgive those who have wronged them? Who Percy described as cursing up a storm in one of their first interactions? Who’s been shown time and time again to be FAST to anger? That Hazel?
Or Nico, who’s “a misunderstood emo. A small bean. Cute like a wet cat and innocent like a bunny.”
Nico, who’s cannonically described by most characters as “scary and unnerving?” Nico, who, for a long time, is one of the angriest characters in the series? Who’s only sassy and sarcastic because it took him FOUR YEARS to mellow out? Who’s described as being one of the most powerful demigods, who a lot of people still consider the scariest? Who’s come into his own as a character from TTC to TSATS? That Nico?
Or Annabeth who’s, “cold and calculating. Doesn’t show emotion or express herself”
Annabeth, who’s the most expressive person in the series? Who cries in EVERY book in the OG series? Whether it be for Luke, or Thalia, or Percy, or Chiron, or a literal DOG? Who expresses passion like no other when it comes to architecture and her other interests? Who’s expressed compassion for people she didn’t know? People who at times posed a threat to her? Who isn’t afraid to be angry, or happy, or snide, or rude, or excited, or scared, or ecstatic? Who’s been unapologetically herself since the moment the series started? That’s who doesn’t show emotion? That’s Annabeth?

Children of Dionysus laugh hysterically. Head thrown back and eyes watering. Once they start, it's hard for anyone to not share their euphoria.
Children of Aphrodite laugh like a loved one. They sound like your first love, laughing at the table next to yours.
Children of Hephaestus laugh with their bodies. Shoulders shaking and hands clapping together or hitting their thigh.
Children of Zeus laugh loudly. When they burst into laughter it can be startling, but it quickly becomes pleasant, like a summer thunderstorm.
Children of Athena laugh quietly. It's more of a chuckle, often hidden behind their hand. But even so, you can see their eyes sparkling.
Children of Apollo laugh like they're singing. Eyes closed and mouth open. People usually quiet down around them, because it often is the most beautiful sound they've ever heard.
Children of Hades laugh in deep tunes. And sometimes you can hear the dead sharing their joy.

Underrated Percabeth moment. A reminder that Annabeth doesn't just tolerate Percy's humor, she loves him for it. At their most desperate, when they're close to death, when everything seems hopeless, he can still make her laugh.

I LOVE LOVE LOVEE how its canon that Jason is super physically clingy and just generally really giddy and adorable while he's excited. This is shown multiple times it warms my heart 🥹 also he canonically gives out the best hugs too which is super refreshing since everyone always assumes that he's cold and intimidating 🥹🔫
a few examples of this from the books:
When he bear hugged Percy after he came back to tartarus. (HoH)
When opened his arms out to nico excitedly after he said he'd stay at Camp half blood. And gave him the most bone crushing hug ever after nico gave permission (Boo)
When he excitedly leaned in and kissed Piper after she figured out the meaning of the Storm/Fire line in the prophecy. (HoH)
When he was super excited to talk about Roman historic leaders he kept yapping on and on about them to the point he didn't even realize that Leo was mocking him, bc he was just too excited (HoH)
When apollo noted that Jason's eyes noticeably "brightened" after he mentioned to jason that Thalia said hello. (TOA)
When he wanted Thalia to stay w him in the lost hero and talk more :(

Can it just be canon that Percy just keeps muttering things like "Jesus" or "Christ-" or both together and Annabeth will just be like, "dude, we're Greek."
