Weezer - Pinkerton (1996) 10 Tracks Overall Rating: 9/10 Favorite Track: The Good Life Weakest Track: No Other One It has always blown my mind Pinkerton wasn’t well received when released. It is my favorite Weezer album, and objectively, I can’t understand why Blue Album is touted over it. River’s is more direct about his feelings in this album, and I like that. He has mentioned in interviews before about how crypt the meanings behind some Blue Album songs are, and no one got it. So he decided to be more transparent. It feels almost as if its a reach out into the world to feel like somebody understands. In the context of the writing of this album coming from River’s isolation returning to college in a world disconnected from what had just been accustomed to, driving cross the country singing his songs to fans. The vocals in every single song are so strong in this album, his voice sounds pained and he throws it around dramatically. River’s has always been so good at bringing more meaning to his words in the way he says them. The instrumental is mixed well, I love the crunchy sounding guitar and the really heavy bass drum and snare. Each song has its own conclusion to its own build up and it makes every song feel like an experience, not just a ride.
