Get Adventurous This Spring aboard Your Subaru
If you have plans to embark on adventures into the great outdoors this spring, taking the decision to invest in a car that is worthy of your ambitions is one of the first steps you should take.
There is nothing worse than working yourself up for the trip of a lifetime only to be let down before the get-go by a substandard vehicle which was not up to the task.
Fortunately, today’s motorists are spoiled for choice when it comes to buying a car that can put up with the rough and tumble of a road trip across rugged terrain. Leading the market in vehicles capable of dealing with the off-road conditions is the legendary Japanese car manufacturer, Subaru.
The technology developed through decades of experience of building winning car packages for world-class rally drivers such as Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg has become a central feature of Subaru’s commercially-available product lines.
Read on for some information on some of the most innovative features that you will find in a brand-new Subaru ready to buy this spring.
 Subaru Symmetrical AWD
For anyone who has owned or driven a Subaru before, the incredible performance of the Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system will be well-known to you. In fact, while many other carmakers have designed cars with AWD systems, such systems have become so synonymous with the iconic Japanese brand that it is safe to say that a Subaru without AWD would not be a Subaru.
The fact that the AWD system has been a central design feature in Subaru cars for decades goes some way toward explaining its superiority when the AWB systems of other brands which adapt their AWD setups from existing 2-wheel-drive designs.
Subaru has always designed all its cars from the basic starting point of “four wheels is always better than two,” and the knowledge and design expertise gained over the years have led to the development of unique driveshaft which provides continuous power to each wheel at all times, whether it be on-road or off-road.
For this reason, Subarus are equally at home in the snow, mud or perfect asphalt mountain roads. Owing to their perfect weight distribution, Subaru vehicles offer a driving experience characterized by an incredible degree of balance, control and traction, making them the perfect choice for your next all-terrain adventure.
 Subaru EyeSight®
A recent addition to Subaru’s line of vehicles is the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, one of the first driver safety systems of its kind. The EyeSight system comprises of a series of integrated cameras located near the rearview mirror that watch the road and help a sophisticated on-board computer anticipate potential accidents and unpredictable events before they happen.
Subaru EyeSight also helps the driver to maintain a safe distance from the car in front, while also applying pre-collision braking at optimum force when needed to help avoid frontal collisions.
By monitoring traffic, optimizing cruise control and warning you if you veer outside your lane, this incredible technology improves driver safety to such an extent that Subaru models were given top marks by road safety watchdogs in 2019, with studies finding that rear-end crashes resulting in injuries were reduced by up to 85%.
As a result, Subaru ensures an unparalleled level of safety for you and your family.
 Subaru's Off-road Capability
As mentioned before, Subaru is famous for constructing cars which are equally at home off the road as they are on it.
Accompanying the Symmetrical AWD systems that feature in every model the brand with the six-star label produces, the off-road capability of the Outback, Forester and Crosstrek models is enhanced by what Subaru has branded “X-Mode.
X-Mode is a computerized system that improves the car’s ability to gain traction when ascending, descending or when negotiating slippery surfaces.
The system balances the engine, gearbox, AWD and brakes to maximize control by optimizing the rotation differences between the front and back wheels. This allows for a driving experience that is almost completely devoid of skids and wheel spins on even the loosest surfaces.
 The Subaru Outback Onyx XT
Combining the features mentioned so far, the new Subaru Outback leaves no stone untouched in its quest to become the undisputed heavyweight king of crossover sports utility vehicles. Such has been the case since its inception in 1994 when Subaru released a special Outback version of the popular Legacy station wagon which became what most people recognized as the first car-based crossover.
Orientated toward customers who like getting off the beaten track, the Onyx Edition XT of the Outback takes things a step further when it comes to off-roading. Do not be fooled by the Outback’s low-profile appearance. Retaining its station-wagon-like features, it may not look like the raised SUVs that populate
the roads these days, but it can do all most modern SUVs can do and more. The Onyx Edition XT model is powered by a direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® Engine which delivers a thrilling 277 pound- feet of torque. It incorporates Subaru’s standard AWD and X-Mode, sitting on a rigid chassis that clears the ground by 8.7 inches, which is more than enough for most dirt road driving.
The Onyx Edition XT also features both a stylish interior and exterior, with sweeping curves throughout and all the latest technological advances, such as 360-degree monitor vision, a blind spot detection system and Subaru’s new DriverFocus™ Distraction Mitigation System. Put all this together with an almost too-good-to- be-true fuel economy and you have the perfect all-terrain vehicle for your wildest adventure this springtime.
With its stylish design, high-tech features, powerful engine and a peerless AWD system, the Subaru Outback Onyx Edition is perfectly at home in all environments. However, if you are looking for a new car that has the off-road credentials that will allow you to go one step further into the wilderness this spring, the Subaru Outback Onyx Edition XT could be just what you are looking for.
All that remains is to get to work on planning how best to get the most out of it! If you are unfamiliar with the Subaru brand, click here to get more information about this amazing brand.
