Domesticated Red Fox Stubbornly Whines for More Head and Belly Scratches From Her Human
youtube
An absolutely beautiful, domesticated red fox named Alice stubbornly whined for more head scratches, belly rubs and all over attention from her human Ivan, who gave her as much as he could while standing outside in the snow.
It seems that Alice is a little love bug who always wants some affection. Luckily, she has a human who is more than happy to give it to her.

Puppies in a bucket
youtube
In this video, posted by Kentfield Kennels Labrador Retrievers, a number of puppies are observed to coalesce within a single medium-sized bucket.
Though it appears the puppies are becoming more organized over time, the outcome in fact reflects the lowest energy state for the puppies. If too much energy (flops, boops, snoots, mlems) were introduced to the local system, the puppies would continue to bounce around randomly. Their coming to rest in parallel and orthogonal repose within the bucket, though apparently a complex and ordered result, in fact represents increased entropy within the available thermodynamic envelope and its approach to a maximum value at equilibrium.

Watch Mel Brooks' wonderfully funny and very short animated film "The Critic" (1963)
youtube
In 1962, Mel Brooks attended a screening of an abstract animation by Norman McLaren. He overheard an older fellow chattering and complaining through the whole thing.
Inspired, Brooks and director Ernest Pintoff created this wonderful short film, "The Critic." Amazingly, Brooks improvised the narration while watching the animation. The film won a 1964 Academy Award in the category of Short Subjects (Cartoon).

Judge at Westminster Dog Show Invites Girl With Autism to Show Her Stuffed Puppy Like a Real Dog
youtube
During this year’s American Kennel Club Westminster Dog Show, a perceptive judge caught the sight of a little girl on the sidelines who had autism. She was wearing a bright pink dress and holding a plush stuffed puppy. The judge sauntered over to her and began examining the stuffed animal as if it were a real dog. He then invited her to show her dog in the same way as the other presenters. The girl leaped out of her seat and happily walked her puppy in a short arc near her seat and then gave the judge a big hug to great audience applause.
A judge at a dog show saw a young girl watching from the sidelines.
The girl had autism, and she'd brought her stuffed animal.
So the judge stopped, walked over to her, and asked if she wanted to show her dog, just like the others.
This is what happened.

Clever Mashup of a Garden Sprinkler Playing the Drum Machine Intro to the New Order Song ‘Blue Monday’
youtube
Social marketeer Ritch Ames captured the sound of his neighbor’s lawn sprinkler playing the drum machine intro to the iconic New Order song “Blue Monday'”. Ames combined the mechanical sound with the a live performance of the song for a really clever mashup of the two.
Captured in a neighbour’s garden – this little Garden Sprinkler is happily hammering out the drum pattern to New Order’s legendary song. There must be other things happily performing other songs – music is all around us – please let me know if you spot something and can’t be bothered to edit it, I’ll have a pop at it, my skills are very average so let’s see what happens.
Ames previously remixed a Heathrow Airport moving walkway and The Smiths’ song “How Soon Is Now”.

Kratu the Rambunctious Rescue Dog Hilariously Runs Amok During Agility Section of the Crufts Dog Show
youtube
Kratu, the happy-go-lucky therapy dog from Romania who attempted to run the Crufts dog show agility course in 2019, once again stole the audience’s collective hearts during Crufts 2020. The rambunctious rescue hilariously ran amok on the agility course, going into the tunnel, taking an aimless lap around before heading back in again.
Rescue dog Kratu is back on the main arena at Crufts 2020 and is more hilarious than ever!
The pièce de résistance, however, was when Kratu grabbed the pole from a course hurdle and attempted to bring it into the tunnel.

youtube
While engaging in a playful fight, a defensive cat tapped a little dog on the back, evidently activating his turbo button, which sent him racing across the top of the stairs at full speed. The concerned but somewhat perplexed feline went to see what was going on but decided to opt out instead.

Director Joshua Tsui funded the film via this Kickstarter and will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival later this month. From the film description:

Amazing Footage of Thirty Hummingbirds Partaking In a Peaceful Bathing Ritual Together
youtube
Photographer wildwingsla captured absolutely amazing footage showing a charm of thirty hummingbirds partaking in their daily ablutions together in a bubbling bird bath. The photographer made particular note of the peaceful co-existence of the bathing birds, particularly since they are known to be a bit territorial.
A record 30 hummingbirds bathe together at one time during this morning’s wash! You’d never know they will be harassing each other in five minutes’ time…

Driver pulled from crashed truck seconds before it explodes
youtube
This police bodycam footage begins in mundane form, with a pulled-over motorist being issued a ticket for some traffic infraction or other. A loud crash is heard, and while we can't see it, we know it's trouble because the cop lets the motorist off and dashes back to his car. He races to the scene of the accident and we see the box truck wrecked in the highway, flames dancing around the windshield and tires. The officer and another rescuer haul the disoriented driver from the fire. Barely a second or two later, a roaring noise is recorded and we soon see that the entire cabin is engulfed.
The driver suffered minor injuries, according to New Jersey State Police, and they don't know what caused the crash.

The Internet Archive has a treasure/trash trove of 20,000 VHS recordings from the 1980s and 1990s
Tumblr media
The Internet Archives' VHS Vault isn't new, but since the beginning of the year it's been refreshed with hundreds of new uploads, reports LifeHacker.
So what kind of gems will you find in the VHS Vault? The clips, shows and films run the gamut from instructional videos, to documentaries, to children’s programs, to workout videos. Want to watch the 1935 film version of Les Misérables? It’s on there. Want to work out with Traci Lords? Your wish is the VHS Vault’s command. Want to watch every single episode of Salute Your Shorts? Get ready to spend some quality time with Budnick, Dina and Ug Lee. How about an introduction to Windows 95 with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry? Yes, that exists, and it’s on there, too.

youtube
Above: In 1987, TV newsmagazine 20/20 revealed the real horror of horror movies: children watching splatterpunk films on VHS in the comfort of their living rooms!
"Fair warning though: There is some graphic violence in this. But we say that for you, not your kids -- they've probably already seen it."

Colorized Footage of Paris Between 1896 to 1900
youtube
We previously wrote about footage of Paris from 1896 to 1900 by the Lumiére company that Guy Jones (previously) skillfully restored with appropriate ambient sound.
More recently, video editor Denis Shiryaev (previously) restored the footage further with 4K high definition image resolution at 60 frames per second, used neural networks to smooth out the rough parts and added a bit of colorization to brighten up the scenery.
