I have created a reddit account and am planning to defend Snape there + spread love

We need Snape defenders and lovers… there’s not enough of them on Reddit (I understand why, and I want to change that).

Hi. So this is a sort of fandom cry for help, but a conscious one, I suppose.

I am (or better to say should be) writing a snarry fic for an event. The deadline is still far away but I'm a slow writer, so really it's not that far…

The problem is, well, I am the problem. Last autumn two of my friends made me feel very small and insignificant because I write explicit fanfiction. According to them, that's not as meaningful and valid as what they write. (Although funny thing, they only read smutty fics themselves, so there's a double standard there somewhere.)

I tried not to let it get to me, except that I failed and it did get to me. For the past year I hardly managed to write any smutty fics to the point where people have noticed.

But then this year, I went all I'm going back onto that horse.

So I decided to write an explicit fic, and make it extra smutty, just to prove to myself that some random people who are not my friends anymore, cannot take this from me and shatter my extremely low self-esteem.

Except I'm freaking out every time I open the google doc, to even finish the outline of the fic. In my head it's there, but I can't put it on the metaphorical paper.

My friend who beta my writing has stuff going on that takes up all of their time right now so I can't go to them with this enormous problem. And I feel that I have no one to go to. And I can't do this alone. I've been crying a lot and it feels stupid to do so. But then I am the stupid person who's too sensitive and all that. (I don't actually believe in that sort of thing, that's toxic, but I seem to apply it to myself regardless.)

This seems to be the last drop. English is my third language so I am already absolutely terrified while writing fics. This thing that happened only added a heavy layer of insecurities that I am completely crumbling under. Most days I just want to stop writing altogether, because unfortunately what happened last year got to me too much. But I don't want to quit. I want to write, it helps me a lot.

In this particular case, I want to write a both funny and smutty fic, because real life and my relationship to physical intimacy is complicated. Through humour I can profess and I really want to do that. But I'm just stuck.

So what I am trying to ask for, if there is someone who is pro-smutty fics, pro-inappropriate humour and has some free time on their hands. And if that person would like to become my emotional support friend and platonically hold my hand while I try to write this thing into existence.
