Seriously, what the fuck? This isn’t helping!! Why not put all of the energy you’re spending on harassing actresses into actually doing something for the movement? You’re distracting everyone from the actual injustices going on by instead focusing entirely on which celebrities are disappointing you.

What is the point of this, anyway? If Miranda posts about police brutality all you’re going to do is go “FINALLY!” Just... I can’t wrap my head around the purpose of distracting everyone with this drama rather than focusing on helping.

Bloodwine (version 1)

So, Bloodwine. That Klingon favourite, not for the faint of heart and consumed in great quantities. I have called this bloodwine version 1 as I can see many bloodwine experiments in my future! Bloodwine is of course to be consumed at any occasion - before battle, after battle, during battle, reminiscing about battles…you get the idea. Where ever you choose to drink your bloodwine, make sure you have plenty of warriors to help you drink it, as it is quite strong!

I took inspiration from the description of bloodwine as being twice as strong as whiskey and also from the Klingon practice of storing bloodwine in barrels corresponding to particular vintages. Therefore, for this version of bloodwine, I’ve gone for an aged Negroni: gin, red vermouth and campari, aged with a handful of wine barrel chips for 6-8 weeks. You could, of course, use an actual wine barrel to age your bloodwine in, but I thought smaller quantities were better to start with.The end result is potent, a little bitter and very smooth - surely appropriate for your favourite Klingon.

(Why yes, that is my light-up skull cup from Dracula’s - when else am I going to get to use it?!)

Miles O'Brien's potato casserole

Miles O’Brien – keeping the recipes of his childhood alive. We have already seen his fondness for corned beef hash, and now we have another dish from the O’Brien household: potato casserole. I am not sure where Miles (or was it his mother?) got the idea of adding capers to the dish, but unlike Keiko, I think they are a great addition.

This dish is essentially a scalloped potato recipe where the potatoes are diced rather than cut into thin slices. It is super rich but very delicious – so I am not surprised Keiko found it a bit overwhelming. I should note that this dish was requested by a reader and that I have a few more reader requets coming up! If there is a particular dish you would like to see, get in touch and I will add it to the list of upcoming dishes.

Raktajino

Raktajino: the favourite drink of the swing shift and Starfleet captains alike. While a Klingon drink, it seems to be almost more popular with many other races than with the Klingons on Deep Space Nine. And apparently also popular with Star Trek viewers - I have received more requests for a raktajino than any other dish!

Like the Bloodwine, I have a feeling this will not be the last time I’ll be trying out Raktajino recipes. I have left the milk/cream as optional in the recipe below, but if you feel you would enjoy a Raktajino in the same way Jadzia Dax sometimes liked to take hers, feel free to add a few splashes. Likewise, feel free to add more sugar for a taste more suited to Jake Sisko.
