on the plus side of things, this has got the brain back in gw2 mode and now i'm def gonna start writing the fic that's been on the backburner for ages

man i'm real curious where they're going with the story after this update. everything new we get about nayos and the kryptis just has me all eyes emoji

that said, i'm a little sad that this update was so small?? like--specifically because it made the pacing hella weird.

(rambles about the update under the cut. spoiler warning!)

the first part of the expansion was just chef's kiss wrt pacing and explaining things while leaving other things a mystery. but this update was so fast!!

i finished the whole story and the map meta in less than two hours. and while the thing with irja was mildly interesting there just wasn't enough time for that to have any emotional payoff at all. especially since we've got a similar thing with mabon in the first part of the expansion (by which i mean new character we're supposed to have some feelings towards that ends up dying) and that was done so well. while this is just... lackluster

i'm excited to see what's around in terms of achievements and stuff but the story in this bit is just... eh. it's not horrible but i wish it had more time to breathe.
