Been thinking about the measure of a hero, and absolutely no pressure, but I was wondering if you have plans to finish it? It's one of my favorites. And I hope you're well! :)

Just gotten over crying from rereading the end of ch 2 of the measure of a hero, and I understand why Cassian feels he needs to leave, the fear that Jyn will hate him because he lost hope. But why do the public seem to hate Cassian and the heroes who didn't get snapped? Is it that they resent bringing people back? Or taking too long to do it? They had gotten used to the grief, and now they're retraumatized? (Didn't watch Avengers, so I'm probably missing something.)

Thank you for reading, and for rereading. That means a lot, because I know that it's long. Let's see if I can keep this answer kind of short.

It's a mix of all that you pointed out and a bit more, in my opinion. There's the people that are upset it took so long, there's the people that just started to move on and now what they thought was in their past is back in their present, there's the people that are grateful for what they did, there's the people that worshipped the heroes and now realize they're just as human as they are, and there's the people that are angry the Snap happened at all. And some of those people might be feeling two of those sentiments, or more. It's kind of like having a huge Venn diagram and everything is overlapping in all these weird ways, because that's how emotions are. They overlap and coexist and clash, and especially in circumstances that are traumatic or reintroduce trauma, it's a lot to try and reconcile.

I think it's also important to remember we're in Cassian's head, and so he's going to perceive things a certain way. For him, the biggest thing that gets brought up is the speech following the Snap. In his eyes, he made promises, and when he wasn't able to keep them, he felt that he had failed (we'll hear more about this in Chapter 3). So he's internalizing a lot of it, and maybe he's seeing things or exaggerating things a little more than the situation calls for.

Hi, I was re-reading the measure of a hero and Jyn's not-so-secret wish for a glaring (because she wants her cats to sound intimidating)/clowder (when she wants them to be cute) of cats. And then Cassian being like, "will you marry me?" Jyn: "Can we have six cats?" Cassian: "I can do two." Jyn: "Let me think about it..." Cassian: "Three cats at any given time." Jyn: "Okay, we can get married."

I love this so much 😂

Also, you technically guessed one thing correctly, but I won’t say what it was 😉

I love that Jyn doesn't want just one cat, but a whole group, and she wants to call them a glaring in public and a clowder in private. Imagine if you can tell how she close someone is to to her and her hypothetical cats when she refers to her cats as a glaring or a clowder in said someone's presence. (Pity the fool who is moved from the clowder list to the glaring list...)

It seemed a very Jyn thing! Just a touch of chaos to confuse people who aren’t in the know.

Also, I feel like Kay is the fool constantly moved back and forth on the lists, but she moves him to the clowder list to mess with him more than anything.
