Long time.

Our sweet 30 just flew to a destination as yet unconfirmed, but basically officially rumored to be Urumqi. I believe its the capital of Xinjiang province. He has a Go Pro like thing with him, so there are high hopes a vlog is coming. Perhaps Riding for a Reason 2, but he's only there until the day before 88s Bday 6/02 then flies to Guangzhou for a Pepsi event and back to Shanghai 6/03.

Melons all of them. He had a lot of luggage. I suspect Wa'er and other Xinjiang friends might have asked him to deliver something. The flight is 5hrs + - thats about how long it took us to go to Athens from Doha recently It! China is huge and Xinjiang is the largest province. It means new colony. Yeah lots of feelings about that.

It is a private trip, but could also be for a variety show. Xinjiang is a top tourist destination now. Envious! I want to eat there so badly!

Wow...really alike here ha

Hmmm..... the sheep people are singing. 88 and that one posted at the same time and there was some getting stuck - I wonder if this isn't for the new Bvlgari global ambassador LYiF - Our sheep is very good at staring at his white fox.

Moving on...the odds of off-stage interaction are pretty low with the seating plan I saw although they are all very close to the front - still not sure that was the real plan. We will see. Rumor is 88 and XZ will be crowned weibo k and q; it would be a hilarious upset seeing as we are pretty sure 88 won last time the purple one was crowned so they got so pissed they didn't bother to vote this time around knowing it's fixed by Weibo whim. Sure to be interesting.

So, this is some interesting sugar all over the 3088 groups; screenshot from Pekomi. The screenwriter (or a screenwriter) of Nothing But You (Nothing But 30 etc) just posted something said by 88 in sharing a video about NBY!

Honestly I'm not sure if I get the joke - assume it is implying that 88 is hot in the day and cold at night or vice versa lol Someone going to have to walk me through the meaning of this “temperature difference.” I feel you have to know the language pretty well to get the nuances of this fun fact about why Xinjiang Hami melon is so sweet.

But why would the screenwriter of the drama share this?

OK I'll start with un-3088 related sad news. Although I don't like the girl, she has a very cute pout. I try to keep this and the fact she has a family that loves her in mind to refrain from spraying although she is team Slytherine to me - Draco wasn't all that bad in the end. It's hard sometimes, but I do believe in karma. RIP to the elder that passed away in the family of ZLS; due to this she cannot attend Weibo night and I believe this is causing a delay in a poster today. Either way, I don't like her, but don't wish ill on her or her family so that's sad.

As for our little imaginary couple, they seriously have posted so much content - 2x now - one after the other 57 min apart for the first one and I swear the same time for the second.

If this isn't a real CP, I don't know what is. I will try to make sense of it all tonight. 30 dropped the same video in three places and 88 dropped 4 photos right after his first video which I was waiting for - she's winking, flash photo, wearing a blue top, and her hands are showing 5 lol The photo above is a fan picture for 30's Weibo night. 30 is back. YAY! Safe and healthy and his first chapter: Eating Fried Dough Sticks; the numbers can be interpreted as 3, 5 and 8 photos (posted 4 on personal and studio weibo) but that's not the usual sugar I suck on. Most importantly, he's safely home in Beijing where 88 also happens to be IP address wise. I saw a melon that her new drama is still delayed. At this point, I think we will have to see her in a variety show or she will travel!

Correction: 88 was wearing this hat. Pekomi sees LED but that's the hardest candy for me to swallow - the color is enough which feels very sweep the building to me.

88 in 2019 (before the lovely Feel the World trip) and 30 today in 2023 have the same color (for one - the other is a dark green I think); Romowa is extremely popular. I believe the spicy person next door has been a brand friend and I think 30 was possibly a spokesperson. I just find this cute lol

30 arrives in Beijing we believe around 7am Chinese time or maybe earlier. Our two sweeties should be in the same city, but he may go on to another city. Who knows?

Oh and just so you know. In 88's flight today, we discovered 88's favorite 1986 Spring Break West Virginia hat also comes in brown lol She has worn one of these hats for 3 flights so far. So, 30 indeed went to Spain to the island of Mallorca for some kind of shoot. There are Reuters of him there. I did see a melon that he went to Norway on the 16th - the day his co-star and all the crew flew back to China I think - so hopefully he saw the Northern Lights!

Off-White is a shared brand 88 has worn more than 5 times and of course Hermes. The shirt harkens to both ASun (the horse likeness is also a bit cheeky).

What you need to know - the hot searches/comments about 30 staring at 88 are entitled something like "X盯盯” This means staring which is what he was caught doing to 88 over and over so that it became his nickname for a while 哈哈哈哈

The photos on the bottom I am still trying to explain to myself; this is a smart pair and they know liberal arts. Basically, my theory on the first one is it represents both travel - coming home soon (reports 19th or so as he may do a commercial for that phone he had in his hands and might endorse a car says one melon).

Taking a little break from our usual imaginary coupledom to bring you some information about the book Dilraba was reading the other day. I hope it is being read with an eye for researching Sword Rose, which has themes on human trafficking and exploitation of women and children.

Content Warning: References to rape/Intimate Assault/power and not a whole lot on racism which is just par for the course for wyt neo-liberal feminist discourse and why I'm not choosing to read the whole book.

The book in a nut-shell: Kate Manne, author of Down Girl, writes whilst pregnant with her first child. Upon discovering her expected child is of a female-assigned gender at birth, she is relieved. As the mother of both a son and daughter I had some feelings about the reasons why, but everyone is entitled to their own feelings about these things. I think raising sons and daughters is slightly different, but more the same than we ever allow it to be. They both need to be raised understanding consent and bodily autonomy and one should not be treated like more the enemy for their gender assignation, which is why I am not a huge fan of wyt neo-liberal feminists like this, but there are definitely some solid and universal themes in the book. I personally think they apply to any child, but I acknowledge one is more vulnerable to sexual assault than another and usually by someone close. Be vigilant. The most common offenders are family, family friends or someone you know. Understand grooming behavior. This is very important in parenting these days. As a certified parent coach, I have read a great deal about this. Consent Parenting is a great resource and there is another one I cannot think of started by a Black social worker with birds and bees in the title? It's a great website. I will find it.

Although it is very much a book from an American perspective on a global challenge, I would say the stuff on healthcare and reproductive rights would be completely anathema to Chinese context. Until relatively recently, Chinese media was quite open to LGBTQI+ community, but there has been a definite turn. In terms of C-Ent world, the state is essentially mandating masculinity and I believe this goes hand in hand with assigning roles to females that are quite counter to the original communist spirit of equality let's just say. I think that distribution of labor and many of the cases referenced, such as the Harvey Weinstein case, date rape without consent of an sleeping, intoxicated girl are universal.

Kate Manne ends the book with a statement that is essentially a summary of the themes; in the penultimate paragraph (my book doesn't have pages so I need to update this) she writes: "And I want my daughter to know that her own entitlements in these respects are crucially connected with some of her most important moral obligations: the obligation all of us share, regardless of our gender, to make this world one in which structural injustices are actively being rectified. Together, we must fight for a world in which girls and women are valued, cared for, and believed, within our social, legal, and medical institutions. Together, we must fight for a world in which the bodies of girls and women are not routinely controlled, sexualized, harassed, assaulted, and injured—or even destroyed altogether. Together, we must fight for a world in which every girl or woman is safe and free to be her own person, rather than consigned to be predominantly a human giver of the sex, care, and love to which privileged boys and men are tacitly deemed entitled." (the last part of the book Entitled: How Male Privilege Hurts Women).

Honestly, it's not radical enough for me, but this is just a taster and if you liked the book feel free to share why I should give it more than a quick skim.

How I would love to see an open discussion or reference to themes like misogyny, patriarchy, and intersectional privilege in a C-Drama with my favorite. It absolutely could have been explored in previous Chinese dramas but I am new to mainland dramas and also tend towards romantic/fantastical themes unless there is an actor I particularly like or storyline that looks intriguing (The Knockout and Re-Set for example). A girl can dream, right?
